Gloria A. Nagel
Gloria A. Nagel, 66, of North Canton, passed away Monday afternoon at her home, following a brief illness.
She was a resident of Canton for 45 years. She worked 20 years at the University of Akron, College of Nursing, and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Canton.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Bill Toy, Gale Nagel, all of North Canton, Lisa and David Stouffer; grandson, Grant of Fairlawn; brothers and sister-in-law, Manfred and Ginger Stobbe of Carlyle, Ill., Erwin Stobbe of Springfield, Ill.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Erma Nagel of Canton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1976; and parents, Julianna and Henry Stobbe.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, with Pastor Larry Houff officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Donald Ray Norrod II
Donald Ray Norrod II, 37, passed away suddenly March 18, 1998.
Preceded in death by brother, Jim, he is survived by daughters, Stormi Norrod of Wadsworth and Crystal Williams of North Carolina. They were the joy of his life and loved him very much; they will miss him terribly. Also surviving are parents, Don and Barbara of Akron; brothers, Mark (Lori) of Akron and Gary (Tina) of Missouri; sister, Sherry (Melvin) Johnson of North Carolina; uncles, Carlos Conley Jr. and Roger (Jannette) Conley, both of Stow, Dennis Conley of Akron, Dick (Lavonda) Norrod of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was born in Akron and was a life resident of the area, graduating from Kenmore High School in 1979. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his great sense of humor. Anyone who was lucky to spend time with him will remember his love for country music, going to the covered bridge and the park with his daughters. Because of an accident in 1982, he always regretted that he could not run and play with his children. He just wanted to stand up and walk.

Kathleen ``Kitty'' Porter, 71, of Akron died March 28, 1998.
A life resident of the area, she retired from the Bell Music Co. after many years service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Alter & Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by husband of 33 years, Lee H.; stepson, Tim (Reed) Porter of Cuyahoga Falls, stepdaughter, Sherry Miley of Morgan Hill, Calif; three step-granddaughters; two step-great-grandchildren; mother, Kathryn Paulus of Akron; brothers, Bob (Eloise) Paulus of Mogadore, Bill (Jean) Paulus of Canal Fulton, Dick (Cathy) Paulus of Lecanto, Fla. and many nieces and nephews.

Helen A. Obrst (nee Mosko), 77, passed away March 25, 1998 at Akron City Hospital.
She was born December 21, 1920 in Akron, the daughter of George and Anna Mosko.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Adam L. Obrst; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Whitworth; son and daughter-in-law, Adam S. and Karen Obrst; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and June Mosko; grandchildren, Marie and Ralph Rex, and Julie Whitworth; great-grandsons, Adam Rex and Brandon Scott Nelson.

Harry E. Oeffner, 71, of Green, passed away March 29, 1998.
A lifetime resident of the area, he had been employed for Goodyear Aerospace for 31 years, retiring in 1983, and served with the Army in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; daughter, Lydia Dinger; grandsons, Gary and Greg Dinger; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack Oeffner.

Michael S. O'Neil, 57, of Akron, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998.
Mr. O'Neil was born in Akron on April 30, 1940. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his sister, Charlene (Jack) Kilway; brother, Dennis (Cindy) O'Neil of Canton; also nieces and nephews.

William J. Packo, the mighty warrior, has gone home to be with the Lord on March 26, 1998, at the age of 50.
Born in Akron, Mr. Packo lived all of his life in the area. He was a loving and giving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, who was loved by all who knew him.

John W. Portis (Sun)
The beloved John Willie Portis (Sun), 70, went home to be with the Lord on March 15, 1998.
John was born June 9, 1927, in Cuba, Ala. He met Mary Lucille Walker in Toomsuba, Miss., who later became his wife of 40 years. Together they had eight loving children. John W. Portis was a respected member of the Akron community for over 50 years. He was employed with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 46 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Arlington Church of God and the Mt. Herman Lodge 5, where he served as Worshipful Master.
Mr. John W. Portis was preceded in death by wife, Mary Lucille Portis; parents, John K. Portis and Eliza Portis; son, Lorenzo Portis; brothers, J. P. Portis and Elijah Portis; and sister, Johnsie Ree Wardlaw. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Jerry Portis and Dorothy Portis of Akron; sons, Willie Portis of Fresno, Calif., Charles Portis of Mustang, Okla., Larry (Joanne) Portis, Fiorello Portis, Johnnie (Yvette) Portis of Akron; brothers, Spencer Portis and Aaron Portis of Atwater, Calif.; sisters, Gertrude Jackson, Mary Skipper, Maybelle Portis of Akron; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Born in Chicago, he had been an Akron resident since 1931. He was the founder and chairman of Aid Investment and Discount in Akron.

WADSWORTH/SHARON TWP. -- Ilah O. Price (nee Peacock), 97, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the Apostolic Home.
Born in Hennessey, Oklahoma, Mrs. Price resided in Wadsworth 16 years, previously residing in Sharon Twp. She was a nurse's aide in the nursery at Akron General Medical Center for six years, retiring in 1962, and a member of the Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Price is survived by daughter, Barbara Robey of California; son, James E. of Medina; son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Helen of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, John K., and sister, Lois Forshey.
