Angela M. Jackson
Angela M. Jackson, 33, passed away Feb. 26, 1998 at the Robinson Memorial Hospital, after a seven-month courageous battle with cancer. Angela was born in Parma, the daughter of Frank and Martha Virginia Yandura. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Jackson; her little angel of seven months, Alaina Marie Jackson; mother, Virginia Yandura; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruthanne and Ray Jackson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kaye and Mark Trivisonno, Gayle and Brian Peterjohn, Tonie and Jeff Zech; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and Kathy Yandura, Robert Yandura, Nelson Yandura; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Yandura. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Gary F. Jacobs
Gary F. Jacobs, 61, died Feb. 19, 1998. He was born in Akron and was a lifetime resident of the area. Mr. Jacobs was a graduate of North High School and attended Boston College. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard and was the owner of G. F. Jacobs Insurance Agency for 35 years. Mr. Jacobs is survived by mother, Helen Jacobs of Florida; daughters, Tracey Kormushoff of Copley, Christy (Beau) Schmidt of Akron; grandchildren, Amanda, Steven, Alex, Zachary, and Halle; brothers, Larry and Dennis Jacobs, both of Florida; his dog, Sonny; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Monday at the Billow FAIRLAWN CHAPEL, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating. James L. Jasper
STOW -- James L. Jasper, 86, beloved husband for 63 years, devoted Dad, Granddad, and Great-Granddaddy, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998. He taught Sunday School while living in Martins Ferry, Ohio, at First Methodist Church, and also at St. John's United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N. C., where they had lived before moving to Stow. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Akron. He was a 32 Degree Mason, and former Master of his Lodge. Mr. Jasper retired in 1976 from working for Ohio Bell, and was a member of Ohio Bell Pioneers Retiree Association. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jasper (Varga); children, Elizabeth (Paul) Reese of Magnolia, Ohio, James (Mary) Jasper of Sandy, Utah, Roslyn (Tom) Harris of Charlotte, N. C., Sandy (John) Moore of Stow, and John (Eileen) Jasper of Alvin, Texas; sister, Margaret Szabo of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St., Akron, where the family will receive friends at 4:30 p.m., Rev. David S. Walter ``Lefty'' Jatich
Walter ``Lefty'' Jatich, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998. An Akron native, Mr. Jatich had retired in 1981 from Firestone, where he worked as supervisor in the Plant 2 calender room. He belonged to St. Francis DeSales Parish, and was a member of the American Lithuanian Citizens Club. His survivors include wife of 50 years, Bernice; daughters, Judy (Dan) McMillen of Akron, Jayne (Larry) Beal of Kent, and Jackie (John) Mesko of Hartville; sons, Jim, John (Diane Pribonic), Jeff (Kim Warner) all of Akron; grandchildren, Lisa (Dean) Kosco, John Jatich, Jennifer, John, Jerrod, and Jason Mesko. Lucile Johnson (nee Case)
Lucile Johnson (nee Case), 97, of Medina, passed away Feb. 19, 1998. She was an honorary member of the Ohio Music Teachers Association and taught music for over 35 years. She was also inducted into the Akron Radio & Television Hall of Fame. She is survived by cousins and many friends, and was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, to whom she was married 56 years; parents, Charles and Stella Case; and brother, Leo. Shirley L. Jones
Shirley L. Jones, 69, was called home to be with Jesus on Feb. 24, 1998, after a long bout with A.L.S. She was a longtime member of High Street Christian Church. She had been a stewardess for 37 years with Eastern Airlines before retiring in 1992 because of illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah P. Jones; sister, Francis Noble; and brother, Richard Jones. She is survived by her father, N. C. Jones; seven nieces, and one nephew. S. Betty Kennedy (nee Graham), 79, was the beloved wife of the late Robert J.; dear sister of the late Loraine Stewart; dear aunt of Guy (Deanna) Wicks of California and the late James Wicks; great-aunt of Arthur (Nilce) Wicks of China and Virginia (Michael) of California and Deborah (Christopher) of Virginia; and great-great-aunt. Thomas John Kenney
TALLMADGE -- Thomas John Kenney, 75, passed away Feb. 19, 1998. He was born in Canton, and was a resident of Tallmadge for over 30 years. He was a superintendent at the Ruhlin Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1984, served with the U. S. Marines during World War II, and was a member of Ironworkers Local 550. He is survived by wife, Bette W.; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Ron Ekholm of northern California, Pamela and Orville Kenney--Hett of southern California, Beth and Frank Murphy of Tallmadge; sister, Patricia Palosi of Canton; grandchildren, Kevin, Cristi, Lenora, Anna, Mary-Kate, Caitlin, and Claire. CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Carol A. Kenyon, 60, passed away Feb. 17, 1998. She was born in Island Falls, Maine, and resided in this area most of her life. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Cindy, and their three children, of Kingston, N. Janet Lee Kimler (nee Malinowski)
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Janet Lee Kimler (nee Malinowski), 47, passed away Feb. 18, 1998. Mrs. Kimler was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls her entire life. She was a 1968 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, graduated from the University of Akron in 1972, and had worked as a bookkeeper for Dependable Check Cashing. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Phillip; daughter, Janine; son, Brian, both of Cuyahoga Falls; parents, Robert and Jean Malinowski of Cuyahoga Falls; brother and sister-in-law, John and Dani Malinowski of Tallmadge; and sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Mike Sauner of Cuyahoga Falls. Rosalie Koegel
Rosalie Koegel, 86, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998. Mrs. Koegel was born in Hungary but had been a longtime Akron resident. An accomplished operatic singer, she had studied voice in Italy and at one time gave private voice and piano lessons. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, she is survived by son, Lloyd; grandchildren, Terry and Donna; as well as close friend, Eleanor Berardi. Eva Bender Kohler
PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- Eva Bender Kohler, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998. Born in German Town, Hungary, Mrs. Kohler had lived in the Copley area for 52 years before moving to Seminole, Fla. She was a graduate of Zion Lutheran School and Copley High School. After attending business college, she worked as a legal secretary and had also worked at Polksy's Department Store and at Indian Hills Elementary School. A former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Akron, she currently belonged to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo, Fla., where she had been active in the Lutheran Ladies Guild. Other memberships include the German American Club in Akron, and the Republican Club in Seminole, Fla., serving at one time as Precinct Clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew. She is survived by daughter, Evelyn (Robert) Cunningham of Clearwater; son, Donovan (Kathleen) Kohler of Doylestown; sister, Irene Jewell of Wooster, Ohio; brother, Bud (Betty) of Largo, Fla.; six grandchildren and 10 great-granchchildren. Lawrence (Larry) J. Kouri
Lawrence (Larry) J. Kouri, 61, of Akron, died February 20, 1998. Larry was born in Akron and was a life long area resident. He was a legendary local sports figure who played football while attending St. Mary's High and was a member of the state championship team. His love for sport continued as he played all state championship basketball, baseball and football at the University of Cincinnati coached by Sid Gillman. Larry graduated from the University of Cincinnati and served in the Peace Time Army. For the past 20 years he has been an insurance agent and operated Kouri's Security Life and Casualty Company on Brown Street. He was a `million dollar' agent. His memberships include South Akron Knights of Columbus Council 3410, Fraternal Order of Police, St. Paul's Catholic Church, and founding member of a local support group for abused children. Larry was a frequent contributor to the Letter to the Editor page of the Akron Beacon Journal. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha; brothers, Richard and Mark; son, Joseph. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dawn and Mike Aubry of Jacksonville, Ill., Dan, Lawrence Jr., and Doreen, all of Akron; their mother and Larry's best friend, Marilyn Kouri; sisters, Mary Ann Sabistina of Tampa, Fla., Winnie Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Edward of Akron; grandchildren, Danny, Joshua and Ashley Kouri, and Michael Aubrey; nieces and nephews. Paul Kozelski
Paul Kozelski, 85, of Akron, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998. Mr. Kozelski was born in Madera, Pa., on October 25, 1912, and came to the Akron area in the 1920s. He was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church and was the owner for 35 years of Paul's Barber Shop located on North Hill, retiring in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary; brothers, Ray, Chuck and Mike; and sister, Rena Jorgensen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary; daughters, Kathleen Golina and Jean (Bob) Baxter; grandchildren, Dan, Lori, Kristine, Steve Golina, Bill and Julie Baxter; great-grandson, Michael Golina; and brother, Martin (Nellie) Kozelski. William E. Kriegsman, 66, consultant on national issues
He worked in 1969-71 on White House staff
WASHINGTON: William E. Kriegsman, a former member of Atomic Energy Commission and a consultant on national defense, energy and environmental issues, died of cancer Monday. He was 66. In 1957, Kriegsman joined the New York staff of the AEC, the forerunner to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and transferred several years later to the agency's Washington staff, where he held posts as a health physicist and analyst. In 1969 he joined the Domestic Council staff of the White House, resigning in 1971 to become vice president of Arthur D. Little Inc., a Washington consulting company. Kriegsman left Little in 1973 to return to the AEC as one of its commissioners. In 1974 he went back to Little as head of its Washington office. Kriegsman was born in New York City, graduated from the University of Rochester and received a master's degree in engineering administration from George Washington University. Survivors include his wife, Kay Harris Kriegsman, and two children.

Edith A. Lampasone
Edith A. Lampasone, 80, of Akron, died Feb. 17, 1998. Mrs. Lampasone was born in New Castle, Pa., and had been an Akron resident the past 53 years. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, a former volunteer at St. Edward's Home, and was an avid bingo and card player. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, to whom she was married 53 years; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Larry May of Englewood, Colo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nancy of Akron, Donald and Linda of Ft. Clarence P. Legg
Clarence P. Legg, 81 years, of Akron, died Feb. 25, 1998. Mr. Legg was born in Pinyvile, W. Va. He served faithfully with the U.S. Army during World War II for four years. Mr. Legg was a staff sergeant with the 137th Infantry Division under General Patton, and was a member of the D-Day Invasion. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. An area resident since 1950, he retired with 37 1/2 years service from the B.F. Goodrich Co. Preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, in 1994, he leaves his sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Linda of Akron, Fred and Roxanne of Barberton; sister, Wilma Pain of Windfield, W. Evan Thomas Lewis
Evan Thomas Lewis, 90, died Feb. 27, 1998. He was born to Daniel and Margaret Dennis Lewis on Feb. 25, 1908, in New Castle, Pa., was employed with General Electric Lighting Division, and retired from the Conneaut, Ohio, Lamp Base Plant after 42 years service. He was active in Scouting, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and serving as Scoutmaster of the United Methodist Troop 31 of Niles, Ohio. He also maintained memberships in all of the York Rite and Scottish Rite Masonic bodies and Tadmor Shrine. He served as Worshipful Master of Evergreen Lodge 222 F&AM, and Excellent High Priest of Conneaut Chapter 76, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Surviving are wife, Ethel M. Lewis; son, Thomas R. and daughter-in-law, Sandra, of Queensbury, N. Y.; daughter, Barbara Ann Sullivan and son-in-law, David, of State College, Pa.; stepson, Robert A. and Mary Williams of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters, Elsie Ellis of Conroe, Texas, and Elizabeth DeChant of Girard, Ohio; brothers, Wilber and Daniel of Cortland, and Robert of Niles, Ohio. He also leaves four grandsons, a grandddaughter, three stepgrandsons, two great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; first wife, Alice Ann Lewis (nee Lockwood); and brothers, Brinley, Herbert, Raymond, and Kenneth. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Dr. Stanley C. Sneeringer and Rev. David A. Williams presiding. Edna Ludwick
Edna Ludwick, of Walnut Hills Retirement Home, and formerly of Sugarcreek, died Friday, Feb. 20, at Union Hospital. Born May 7, 1904, to the late John and Amanda Hostetler Immel, she was married to LeRoy G. Ludwick, who preceded her. Surviving are son, Donald Ludwick of Coshocton; two brothers, one sister, two grandchildren, one great-grandson. She was also preceded by daughter, Shirley Gorring.
