Robert Leroy Garman
Robert Leroy Garman, 82, of Carmel, died April 23, 1998, at Carmel Clay Manor.
He was a territorial rep for B. F. Goodrich til 1963, and was president of Indiana Tire & Rubber Co. until 1977, and Sweitzer's Offset Services before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Millersville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Mirat Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Florence L. Eckert Garman; daughter, Janet Lee Fehey; son, Robert L. Garman II; sister, Sarah Savoea; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with Masonic services at 5 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan; funeral services and burial Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Jessie M. Gibbons (nee Armour)
TWINSBURG -- Jessie M. Gibbons (nee Armour), 88, died Tuesday at Maplewood Care Center in Streetsboro.
Mrs. Gibbons was born in Connellsville, Pa., and had lived in the Twinsburg area for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and is survived by sons, Gerald R. (Mary) of Portland, Ore., Leon R. (Kathleen) of Sacramento, Calif., and John E. (Beth) of Twinsburg; daughters, Phyllis J. (Paul) McGhee of Twinsburg, Laura (Terry) Tyson of Twinsburg, Frances D. (David) Peters of Scio, Ohio, and Marcia A. Peters of Twinsburg; 21 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, May 1, 1998, at 10:30 a.m., at Johnson-Romito, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, Route 91 at Post Road, Twinsburg, where friends will be received Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. Donald J. Gillen
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Donald J. Gillen, 71, passed away April 18, 1998, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Mr. Gillen was born in Lebanon, Neb., and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls the past 45 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy, and retired from Ohio Edison as an electrical engineer with 40 years service. He was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Church, where he sang in the choir, and was a faithful blood donor, exceeding 12 gallons in his lifetime. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, was past president of the Bridge Club at Ohio Edison, and loved music and ballroom dancing, and was an avid baseball fan.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Gillen, and is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Clara; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Steve Steen of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathy Gillen of Tallmadge; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Bob Pyke of Cuyahoga Falls, and Maureen and David Parry of Tallmadge; seven grandchildren; sister, Mildred Sughroue of Denver, Colo.; sister and brother-in-law, Lea and Carl Kjar of Lexington, Neb.; sister-in-law, Opal Gillen of McCook, Neb.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth M. (Stanger) Goffinet
STERLING -- Elizabeth M. (Stanger) Goffinet, 77, of Sterling, died April 26, 1998, at the Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Doylestown and lived in Sterling since 1958. She was formerly employed at Conval in Wadsworth for 16 years, and Meadowview Care Center in Seville for four years. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband, Leo P. Goffinet Sr.; sons, Albert ``Joseph'' (Debbie) Goffinet of South Bend, Ind., Leo P. Goffinet Jr., and James Goffinet, both of Sterling; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Merry, and Adam Goffinet, and Sean Collins; brother, Edward Stanger of Norton; sisters, Tillie Naizer of Barberton and Marion Adamich of Norton.

William I. Gordon
William I. Gordon, 66, passed away April 27, 1998, at Akron General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Akron, the son of Evert R. and Virgie Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Rhea; mother, Virgie Mays; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Ricky Willis; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald E. Gordon, Dennis I. Gordon, Dale E. Gordon and Melanie Roberts, Daryl E. and Rosemary Gordon, William A. ``Al'' Gordon; brothers, Evert Jr. and David L. Gordon; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and son, Douglas E.

Samuel Gottfried
Samuel Gottfried died Saturday, April 25, 1998.
Born in New York, N.Y., he was a resident of Akron since 1932. He worked in retail sales, and was a member of Temple Israel.
Mr. Gottfried was preceded in death by wife, Florence, and is survived by son, Edwin of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; brothers, Fritz Gottfried of Nashville, Tenn., and Phillip of Woodland, Texas.

Rose Graci
Rose Graci, 96, of Akron, died Saturday, April 18, 1998.
Mrs. Graci was born in Cotanzaro, Italy, and was a longtime Akron resident. Her memberships included St. Anthony's Church, Yovone Club, and the Patterson Plus 50 Group.
Preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Anna Candeliere; sister, Clara Martini; daughter, Anna; and her husband of 50 years, Joseph; she will be sadly missed by her loving family, including daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Carl Palmisano; son, Tony, all of Akron; grandchildren, Ralph (Barbara) Palmisano of Bath, Joe (Kirby) Palmisano of Canton, Gina Palmisano of Akron, and Allyson Carson of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Erin, Joe and Zac Palmisano; many nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Ernest Graham
Ernest Graham, 78, of Akron, passed away April 14, 1998, after a three-year battle with cancer.
He was born in Akron on Sept. 24, 1919, to the late Fern and Ottis Graham.
As a member of Boy Scout Troop 15, he earned his Eagle Scout rank at age 14. Ernie was graduated from North High School in 1937 and from the University of Akron in 1941 with a B. S. in business administration.
While attending Akron University, he was a member of R.O.T.C., Pershing Rifles, and was awarded the Dice Medal for the best-drilled cadet in his sophomore year, 1939. In the early '40s, he was a member of the Ohio National Guard, B Company, 145th Infantry. Ernie was a World War II veteran and enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1941. Upon completion of basic training, he was recommended for OCS at Camp Barkley, Texas, and at graduation, received his second-lieutenant bars on Feb. 24, 1943. He then served overseas in the European Theatre of Operations and D. Day invasion of Normandy. Ernie served in the Army of Occupation until 1946, when he was honorably discharged after four years of service with the rank of captain. During wartime while stationed in Europe, he met his future wife, a U. S. Army nurse who was serving with the 232nd Station Hospital.
Ernie retired from Brown-Graves Lumber Co. as chief estimator after 35 years of service. He was an avid reader and gardener, and enjoyed golf and bowling with company leagues, as well as a good game of cards. He was a loyal and longtime fan of the old Cleveland Browns, the Indians, and the Cavaliers. Ernie was very active with Army & Navy Union Garrison 250 for 36 years and held many elected and appointed offices on the garrison, county, state, and national levels. Club affiliations included life membership in Army & Navy Union Garrison 250, Turkeyfoot Sportsman's Club, and a 25-year membership in F.O.P.A. Lodge 6.
His family includes his wife of 49 years, Ruth; daughter and son-in-law, Sharen Beth and Marty Breyer of Akron, and grandson, Sean Taray of Delaware; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Kent Stewart, and granddaughter, Sara Stewart of Bedford, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Paul T. (Ruth) Dock of Cuyahoga Falls and Mrs. Joan (Andre) Medvedeff of Clearwater, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Carolyn (Larry) Drees, Kevin and Dana Drees, all of Clarendon, Vt., Keith (Nancy) Dock and Brittany of Upland, Calif., Kent (Diana) Medvedeff, Eric and Kirk Medvedeff, all of Clearwater, Fla. Ernie will be forever missed by his loving family and remembered by his many longtime friends, Army buddies, fellow club members, and caring neighbors.
At his request, cremation has taken place and, in keeping with his specific wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial services. Richard Lee Gray
Richard Lee Gray, 79, died April 18, 1998.
Mr. Gray was born in Salem, Ohio and lived in Doylestown, and in Akron since 1986. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Europeran theater for five-plus years, he was a retired teacher for the Barberton Public Schools with 36 years service, most of his years at the high school, and was an instructor at Kent State University for several years. Mr. Gray was a member of the Barberton Retired Teachers 25-Year Club, attended Mount Union College for two-plus years, and graduated from Kent State University with a BSED degree. Mr. Gray was an avid woodworker, traveler and enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughter, Susan L. Gray of Seville; son, Richard C. (Donna) of Medina; grandchildren, Shannon and Jared; special friend, Marilyn Myers; brothers, Robert (Melba) of Salem, and Donald (Willie) of Alliance; and sister, Jayne (Roy) Harsh of East Rochester.

Edward L. Green, 59, died April 21, 1998.
A life resident of Akron, he was employed over 25 years at Stan's Towing and City Cab.

Les Green
WADSWORTH -- Les Green, 77, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, after a brief illness.
Mr. Green was born in Oakland, Calif., and resided in Wadsworth since 1946. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II for six years. Mr. Green was the zoning and building inspector for the City of Wadsworth, retiring in 1984 with 21 years service, and formerly operated Leslie P. Green Plumbing Co. He enjoyed walking, bicyling, and nature.
Mr. Green is survived by wife, Gail (nee Morrison). He was preceded in death by parents, Leslie Green Sr. and Nadine Mallet; and brother, Sandy.

Harold B. Grigsby
MANCHESTER -- Harold B. Grigsby, 83, passed away Thursday, April 23, 1998.
Mr. Grigsby was born in knoxville, Tenn., moving to Akron at an early age. He was an electrician at B. F. Goodrich for 31 years, retiring in 1974. Harold had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with riddles, card tricks, and mathematical problems. He enjoyed sports, dancing, traveling, and collecting antiques. Recently, he helped organize class reunions for his alma mater, Akron South High School. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Harold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia; sons, Richard E. Grigsby, Donald G. (Margaret) Grigsby, both of Akron, Kenneth E. (Saundra) Grigsby of Cincinnati; daughter, Carolyn S. Dyarmett of Akron; sister, Eleanor (Joe) Daly of Philadelphia, Pa.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
