Russell L. Jacot
Russell L. Jacot, 74, died April 19, 1998. Mr. Jacot was born in Bath, Ohio and was a member of Ghent Christian Church, the Holiday Yacht Club and the American Stern Wheelers Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., having been a chemical engineer with 42 years of service. Preceded in death by his first wife, Hope Cramer Jacot, son, Donald Jacot and grandson, Jared Simmons, he is survived by wife, Shirley of Cuyahoga Falls; daughter, Rebecca (Paul) Donaldson of Helena, Mont.; stepdaughter-in-law, Lisa (Larry) Mancini; stepson, Chris (Patti) Simmons of Stow; stepdaughter, Holly (Steve) Frahlich of the City of Green; stepson, Todd (Sharon) Simmons of the City of Green; grandchildren, Jake, Aaron, Robin, Nicholas, Michael, Christian, Logan, Stephen, Doug, Luke, and Carla; sister, Marjorie (Joseph) Blair of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Miriam (Robert) Conley of Bethesda, Md.; aunt, Elise Bosler of Polk, Ohio; four nephews, one niece, three great-nieces, and three great-nephews. MEDINA -- Jeffrey C. Johnson, 37, passed away April 22, 1998, in Greensboro, N.C., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an account representative for the Pepsi-Cola Co. He is survived by his wife, Paula (nee Reidy); sons, Aaron and Patrick; parents, Rev. Joseph and Joan Johnson; sister, Julie Mcie; and brothers, Joseph, John and James. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. William Johnston
William Johnston, 72, of Eagle River, Alaska, formerly of Akron, died April 12, 1998. Surviving relatives include wife, Myrna; sons, Craig and Guy Johnston of Eagle River, Alaska; daughters, Janice Parson of Albuquerque, N. M., Terry Johnston of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Mary Lou Brown of Akron, Marge Near of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother, Paul Johnston of Green. Cremation has taken place.

Rev. Lawrence W. Jones
Rev. Lawrence W. Jones, 59, passed away April 28, 1998, at Hospice Care Center. He was born July 15, 1938, the son of John and Evelyn Jones. Rev. Jones was instrumental in developing three churches, one of which is the Echos of Calvary, located on the Pima Indian Reservation. By trade he was a machinist. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Patricia; daughter and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Bill McQuone, Kathleen and Terry Harris; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Joann Jones, Jeremy Jones, Samuel Jones, and Gary Denning; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Leonard Starcher; grandson, Te'Jay Harris; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jerry and Walda Busby. John P. Kaiser
John P. Kaiser, 74 years, of Akron, died suddenly April 18, 1998. John was a life resident of Akron and retired from Goodyear in 1986 after 20 years service. He was a life member of St. Bernard Church, the German American Club, Sons of Herman, the K of C 3410, and VFW Post 3383. He is survived by wife, Betty; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy May, Donna and Ted Kempthorn, and Cathy and Rick Beahn, all of Akron; nephews, Edward Jesson of Stow and Robert Jesson of Cuyahoga Falls; five grandchildren, Maureen, Erin and Christopher May, and Eric and Kaitlyn Beahn. Anthony J. ``Tony'' Kammer
Anthony J. ``Tony'' Kammer died April 25, 1998, at age 71. He was born in Sharon Center, and most recently resided in the Centerville, Ohio, area. He served in the military and was a lifelong member of V.F.W. 1234 in Chicago, V.F.W. 1089 of Wadsworth, and a member of Sons of Herman. Mr. Kammer was preceded in death by his father, Anthony E.; and by his mother, Kathrina; he is survived by wife of 34 years, Judith of Centerville; son, James; daughter, Jodie Marie, both of Dayton; sisters, Katharine Buchner and Eva Platz, both of Akron; uncle, George Kammer of Wadsworth; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; best friends, Art and Margaret Goodridge of Indiana; and special caregivers, Diana Burdick and Connie Slouffman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fr. Paul T. Kane
COLORADO -- Paul T. Kane, of Denver, Colo., retired, died April 20 at Porter Hospice, after a brief illness. He was 60. Born in Clearfield, Pa., on Sept. 20, 1937, he was a resident of Akron for many years. He served in the Armed Forces in the Infantry Division in Reykjavik, Iceland, and later in the 69th Signal Corps as a motion picture cameraman in Kaiserslautern, Germany. In later years, he held a variety of jobs. He volunteered community service time and participated in the RTD Adopt A Stop Program. He was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Elizabeth, and is survived by his wife, Barbara of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Carol Clements, Sue Heltsley, Judi Kane, and Kathy Berdyck; brother, Jack of Akron, and brother, Tim of Chandler, Ariz. There was cremation. A private memorial service will be held in Akron. Contributions may be made to Porter Hospice, 2420 W. 26th Ave. 200D, Denver, Colo. 80211.

Sylvia (Spitalny) Katz
Sylvia (Spitalny) Katz, 94, died Thursday, April 23, 1998. She was born in Russia and was a longtime resident of Cleveland, living in Akron since 1981. She was a member of Warrensville Center Synagogue and many other Jewish organizations. Mrs. Katz was preceded in death by husband, Hyman; was the devoted mother of Dr. David (Andrea) Katz of Orange, Calif., Elaine (Dr. Leon) Wyant of Akron; dearest grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of three; and is also survived by brother, Samuel (Shirley) Spitalny of Cleveland. A graveside service will be held at Ridge Road Cemetery in Cleveland on Sunday, April 26, 1998, at 12 noon, Rabbi Lawrence Zierler officiating. The family requests no visitation. Agatha D. Kekela (Dolly) (nee Samaras)
Agatha D. Kekela (Dolly) (nee Samaras), 68, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Akron General Medical Center. She was born in Akron and had been an Akron area resident her entire life. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, the Philoptochos Society and the American Albanian Ladies Club of which she was past president. She was proud of her involvement in the Albanian relief quilt project in 1996 and was well known for her role as ``Nana'' Claus and her visits to area nursing homes during the Christmas season. She was especially honored by placing as a semi-finalist in a national poetry competition sponsored by the Poetry Guild and the subsequent publishing of her winning poem, ``Nanna's Boy.'' She was currently a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Writer's Club. Mrs. Kekela is survived by her husband of 45 years, John; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Debbie Kekela of Manchester; daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann and Brian Gehring of Munroe Falls, Christine Shirkman and fiance, Bob Spencer of Akron, Susan and Doug Fanoni of Akron and Sandra and John Diehl of Barberton; grandchildren, Christopher Diehl, Jordan Shirkman, Ryan Kekela, Bradley and Matthew Gehring, Daryl Gentry, Stephanie Lindsay, and Dana Fanoni; brothers, Bill Samaras of Akron, George (Jenny) Samaras of Akron and Elias (Mary) Samaras of Staten Island, N.Y.; sister, Sue Dimas of Chicago, Ill.; and was preceded in death by her sisters, Olympia Kianos and Agnes Belushi and her brother, Thomas Samaras, a Navy pilot killed during World War II. She touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where the body will lie in state one hour prior to service, Rev. Fr. Jerry Hall and Rev. Fr. George Bartz officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Alma Kennard
MANCHESTER -- Alma Kennard, 76, of Manchester, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Doylestown Health Care. She was born in Logville, Ky. She was a member of Akron Baptist Temple, where she was a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years. While raising her family, she cashiered at the Manchester Road Market and, after retirement, she became active in the Franklin Democratic Women's Club, where she served at president. A member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. 7724, she was a tireless worker, loved by all who knew her, and she will be sadly missed. She was the dearly beloved wife of Hubert Kennard; mother of Lisa (Chuck) Ayers of Akron, David (Kathy) Kennard of Mesa, Ariz., and Becky (Bruce) Kennard-Mosberg of Schenectady, N. Y.; grandmother of Derek Kennard, Sarah Kennard, Blair Mosberg, Amy Ayers, and Wesley Ayers; great-grandmother of Kaylee Kennard. Karla P. Kerrigan
Karla P. Kerrigan, 40, passed away suddenly April 28 at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. She was a life resident of the Akron area and a 1975 graduate of Ellet High School. She attended Riggs-LeMar Beauty College and worked as a hairdresser for the past 20 years. Karla is survived by her parents, Paul and Patricia Kerrigan of Akron; sister, Erin (Richard) Hohman of Springdale, Pa.; nieces, McKenna, Samantha, and Nicole Hohman; and many cousins. Marion C. Klatt, 93, passed away April 29, 1998. Mrs. Klatt was born in Akron on March 28, 1905, and was a loving homemaker her entire life. Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Arthur. She is survived by her sons, James (Carole) and Arthur Jr. (Carol) Klatt; daughter, Mildred (Don) Nagel; brother, Lloyd Greenlese; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and good friend, Lynn. BARBERTON -- Joseph Julius Klusti, 81, died April 23, 1998, at Manor Care of Barberton. He was born in Barberton, where he was a life resident. He was owner-operator of the Wonder Bar for 25 years and, prior to that, was a mold maker with the Coventry Ware Co. for 32 years. He had been retired 15 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Greater Beneficial Union 361, I.O.O.F., and was a 50-year member of the First Hungarian Benefit Society. He is survived by wife, Sarah; son, Joseph (Julie) of Norton; grandsons, Joseph, Jon, and Jeffrey Klusti. William J. Kneiley, 88, passed away April 15, 1998, in Norwalk, Ohio. Born in Akron, he was an Akron-Uniontown resident all his life, and had retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Bill is survived by his daughter, Jorja (Dr. Robert) Higgins of Norwalk; grandsons, Andrew of Chicago, William of Ontario, Michael of Mansfield; and six great-grandchildren. HARTVILLE -- Captain Frances E. Koval, 71, died April 16, 1998, at Aultman Hospital in Canton. She was born in Jersey City, N. J., and resided for the last 26 years in Hartville. She was a retired registered nurse, a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Michael's Ladies Guild, the Women's War Memorial in Washington, D. C., and the Retired Nurses Corps. She served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by husband, Emil D. Koval, she is survived by sons, Major Emil Jr. (Anna) of Washington, D. C., John (Joyce) of Hartville; daughter, Mary (Keith) Kisha of Cuyahoga Falls; granddaughter, Annika Kisha; three stepgrandchildren, one stepgreat-grandchild; sisters, Doris Arzt of Toms River, N. Mr. Louis Krasnoff
Louis Krasnoff, 85, died at 6 p.m. Friday, April 24, 1998, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, after a short illness. Mr. Krasnoff was born April 3, 1913, in Garettsville, to the late Samuel and Fannie Karlit Krasnoff. He was a lifetime resident of Warren, and was employed by the Denman Tire & Rubber Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1975 as traffic manager. He then was employed by Reismans Clothing and Outdoor Army/Navy Store in downtown Warren. He was a member of Beth Israel Temple Center, where he had served in numerous capacities for the congregation throughout his life. He loved to tinker and fix things. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Aronson) Krasnoff, whom he married in 1940; daughter, Ms. Karen Sandel of Akron; son, Michael Krasnoff of Columbus; sister, Ann Myers of Cleveland; brother, Charlie Krasnoff of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by sister, Rose Rudolph; and brother, Harry. Funeral services TODAY, April 26, 1998, at 3:30 p.m., at Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home in Warren. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery TODAY, April 26, 1998. Material contributions may be made to Beth Israel Temple Center.

William Kungle
UNIONTOWN -- William Kungle, 70, passed away April 24, 1998. Born in Myersville, he was a local resident all his life. Bill was a self-employed truck driver, had served with the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater, and later served in the Naval Reserves Lighter-Than-Air Corps, patrolling the eastern coast line. He was an avid golfer and a member of the A.D.G.A. in the '60s. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dawn; daughter, Carol (Clarence) Moore; sons, William L. (Elizabeth), Bruce, Tim, and Bryan (Christine); grandchildren, David, Dawn, and Melissa Moore, Jennifer, Keith, Kelly, Kerry, Kyle, and Kurt Kungle; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and many loving, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Bill was deeply loved and cherished by his family and will be sadly missed by all. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m., at Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown, where funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bruce Bequette officiating.
