Selma R. Talis, 77, died Sunday, May 10, 1998. She was born in Cleveland, and was a life member of B'nai B'rith Women. She was a member of Beth El Congregation and the Akron Jewish Center. Mrs. Talis was the beloved wife of Harry I. (deceased); devoted mother and mother-in-law of Bonnye and Jerry Klein of University Heights, Ellen and Jim Liss of Beachwood; dear sister of Mollye and May Davis of Cleveland, and Harriet Fadem of Las Vegas; dearest grandmother of Rochelle Klein, Joel Klein, Robin Liss, Randy Liss, and Jason Snyder. Graveside services at Sherbondy Hill Cemetery TODAY at 1 p.m., Rabbi Arthur Lavinsky officiating. Charles Lee Taylor
Charles Lee Taylor, 64, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 1998, at Bridgepark Center. He was born in Akron and had lived in the community all of his life. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from the Huron Road Hospital as a lab technician. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lula Taylor, and is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Freddie of Akron; brother, Leon Taylor; sisters, Frances Smith of Portland, Ore., Betty Latson (Rozell), and Louise James (Melvin), both of Akron; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Turner & Rhoden Memorial Home, Rev. James McWain officiating. Interment at Northlawn Cemetery. STOW -- Joy L. ``Mitz'' Taylor, 38, passed away suddenly May 11, 1998. She was born in Ravenna on Oct. 19, 1959, the daughter of Louis and Sarah Peyton. Joy graduated from Stow High School. She loved animals, especially her four puppies and two cats. BARBERTON -- Oscar Jefferson Thompson, 83, died May 12, 1998. A resident of Barberton for 23 years, he retired from the Akron Post Office. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the V.F.W. and American legion. Helen O. Ulrich, 87, of Akron, died May 13, 1998. Helen was a resident of Akron for 75 years, and a longtime member of Annunciation Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Preceded in death by husband, John, in 1990; and son, Allen, in 1960, she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and Clark Poling of Uniontown, and Rita and Rich Phillips of Cuyahoga Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Barb Ulrich of Marion, Ohio; sister, Marie Great-house of Akron; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Bill Wack, 71, passed away April 17, 1998, in Nova Scotia, Canada, after a long cancer illness. He had graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1944. Bill was a philosopher and ``left his footprints in the sands of time,'' as was written in his senior yearbook in 1944. Preceded in death by Louise, his wife of 30 years; his parents, Carl and Laura; brothers, Carl and Jim; and sister, Miriam, he is survived by his children, Licia, Janet, and Bill; four grandchildren, all of Canada; brothers, Jack, Dick, and David, all of Maryland; and sisters, Mary K. Born in Barberton, where he resided for 40 years, he resided in Houston, Texas for 17 years, his last residence in Copley for 12 years. He was a calender operator at the former Seiberling Tire & Rubber Co. with 35 years service, retiring 21 years ago. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Barberton, Slovene Pensioners Club, Knights of Columbus 1617, A.A.R.P., and served during peace time in the Army-Air Corps and during World War II with the U. S. Navy. He is survived by wife, Irene; sons, Greg (Karen), Thomas (Carol), Mark (Linda), all of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Joseph of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Anthony of Barberton, and Edward of Delphos, Ohio; and sister, Ann Stock of Barberton. Elizabeth Zimmerman (Czimmerman), 96, died Saturday, May 9, 1998. She was born in Nagykoni, Hungary. She came to the United States in 1912 and lived in Akron until her death. She retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. after 28 years of service, retiring in 1967. She was a charter member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and a member of the William Penn Fraternal Association. Our beloved mother was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Czimmerman; infant son, Joseph; father and mother, Joseph and Theresa Bebesi; and grandson, John Heaton. She is survived by son, John J. (Helen) Zimmerman of Akron; daughters, Rose (Joe) Galko of Albuquerque, N. M., and Elizabeth M. Heaton of Akron; brother, Joseph (Mary) Bebesi of Marshallville; grandchildren, Joseph Galko of Akron, Richard (Carol) Galko of Albuquerque, N.
