BARBERTON -- Rev. Graham B. Harris, 70, passed away May 21, 1998. Born Aug. 23, 1927, he retired from Ohio Brass with 30 years service. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by wife, Miriam L.; sons, Dave (Kathy) of Green, Berk (Debbie) of Norton, and stepson, Joe (Merilee) of Barberton; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, and one sister. Rev. Edward Kemp Hinton Sr.
Rev. Edward Kemp Hinton Sr., 94, departed from this life to his home of eternal glory on May 28, 1998, at Middlebury Manor Care Center. Born a resident of Alabama, he became a resident of the Akron community in 1942 and united with Second Baptist Church, where he served as assistant pastor for many years. He served in the capacity of Sunday School teacher, taught the ``Baptist Young Peoples Union (BYPU),'' and was actively involved in missionary work. Preceded in death by wife, Louise Odessa Hinton; son, Edward Kemp Hinton Jr.; five sisters, and four brothers; he leaves, to cherish his memory, daughters, Mary Olivia Groves, Leonia Prowell of Akron, and Hattie Randle (Claiborne) of Columbus, Ga.; 25 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 790 S. Main St., Rev. Dr. I. T. Bradley officiating. Donald Hobden Sr.
Donald Hobden Sr., 70, of Franklin Township, went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 1998. Don was born in Knoxville, Tenn., on Oct. 4, 1927, living most of his life in the Akron area. He was employed by General Tire for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Masonic Adoniram Lodge no. 517 F&AM, and was a member of the Lake Anna Bible Church, where he served as a trustee on the board. He also served in World War II in the United States Navy. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce L.; and survived by children, Karen (Bill) Runion of Goodyear Heights, Donald (Jane) Hobden of Indiana, Mike (Dee Nolan) Hobden of Franklin Township, Connie (Pat Arnold) Hobden of Coventry Township, Donna (David) Rehs of Franklin Township, Candy (Ron) Miller of the City of Green; grandchildren, Chris (Maggie) Csonka of Virginia, Brian (Becky Stanley) Csonka of Barberton, Bobbi Csonka of Goodyear Heights, Gary White of Texas, Marie Hobden of Kenmore, Steve Hobden of Wooster, David Rehs Jr. of Franklin Township, Devon Rehs of Franklin Township, Billy Hobden of Indiana, Blake Hobden of Indiana; great-grandchild, Madison Csonka of Barberton; and many other family and friends. M. Kathryn Hoover
HUDSON -- M. Kathryn Hoover (nee Millen), 77, passed away Thursday at Akron City Hospital. She was born in Shelocta, Pa., and had lived in Hudson for 25 years. She was the church historian at the Western Reserve Christian Church in Hudson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R., and son, Kenneth Edward. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Bonnie Hoover of Solon, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ken Gager of Tallmadge; son, Ronald of Hudson; grandchildren, Matthew and Teresa Gager. David Bruce Hott
HUDSON -- David Bruce Hott, 41, passed away May 29, 1998. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, he worked for Ford Motor Co. in Walton Hills, and was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Moose Lodge 918. Preceded in death by his father, Archie B. Hott; and brother, Thomas Hott, he is survived by his mother, Mary Hott of Hudson; sister, Mary Kay Ion of Hudson; brother, Charles Hott of Cuyahoga Falls; aunt, Lois Wilson; and cousins, James and Jeanne Wilson, all of Akron. KENMORE -- Dorothy K. Hymes, 63, went home to be with the Lord May 28, 1998. Born in Akron, Mrs. Hymes was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge, where she was a choir member and faithful Sunday School teacher. She was the beloved wife for 43 years of husband, John; devoted mother to daughter, Diane (Robert) Krick of Akron; sons, John Jr. of Ashland and David (Teresa) of Akron; grandsons, Aaron, David Jr. and Daniel; sisters, Linda Sue Ross of Akron and Carolyn (Mike) Durich of Springfield Twp.; brothers, Robert H. Patricia Darnell Joel, 69, of 116 Woodside Rd., died Monday, May 18, 1998. She was born in Akron, a daughter of the late William Henry and Verdie Smith Darnell, and was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are nephew, David Darnell of Richmond, Va.; and nieces, Stephanie Lorentz of Simpsonville, S. C., and Michele LeBlanc of Cummins, Ga. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenville Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Charles Brady. Visitation will be at the graveside following the service. Omit flowers. Joan Johnson
Joan Johnson, 61, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 1998, at Wyant Woods Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was a lifetime resident of Akron. Joan was a member of Mt. Sinai United Holy Church of America, where she was a member of the choir. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Davis, Sheila Johnson-Jones, Sharon Johnson of Canton, Crystal Johnson; sons, Michael, Stanley; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew of Dorchester, Mass.; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Blackwell officiating. Interment at Glendale Cemetery. Sr. M. C. Johnson, OP
Sister M. Catherine Johnson (former Sister M. Anthony), 88, a Sister of St. Dominic of Akron, Ohio, died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at Our Lady of the Elms Infirmary. Sister Catherine entered from Annunciation Parish, Akron, and was in the 66th year of Religious Profession. She began her career in elementary teaching in 1934 at St. Dominic, Youngstown. She also taught at Immaculate Conception, Wooster; St. Joseph, Alliance; St. Vincent and St. Paul, both of Akron. In 1969 Sister Catherine returned to the Elms to work in the high school as secretary until 1991 while serving part time in pastoral ministry at Akron City Hospital (1978-91). She served as sacristan at the Elms Motherhouse since 1969. Sister Catherine was an active member of the Congregation's Social Action Committee since its beginning in 1974 and also volunteered at a local Hunger Center. She was an avid hiker with a 20-year Golden Lariat. Sister Catherine had a great zest for life and a sense of humor that endeared her to young and old. She is survived by sister, Mary Metz of Akron; and sisters-in-law, Addie Johnson and Lucretia Johnson of Akron; Patricia Johnson of Vinton, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, June 1, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Our Lady of the Elms, 1230 W. Market St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. in the convent chapel. A wake service will be held there at 4 p.m. Burial will be Tuesday morning at 8:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Sherman C. Johnson
Sherman C. Johnson, 65, of Lenoir, N.C., formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away May 28, of heart failure. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lenoir. He was currently employed at Southern States Greenhouse in Lenoir, having previously worked at Ford Motor in Walton Hills, Matco Tools in Tallmadge, and as a long distance truck driver. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. Born in Richwood, W. Va., he is preceded in death by father, Clyne Johnson and sister, Dorothy Shafer; father-in-law, Ron Meadows; mother-in-law, Ann Meadows. He is survived by wife of 44 years, Ruth; sons, Doug (Debbie) Johnson of Salsbury, N.C., Chris (Mary) Johnson of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Teressa Staines of Lenoir, Benita (Junior) McDonald of Lenoir, and Lisa (Paul) Messenger of Cuyahoga Falls; mother, Irene Johnson of Lenoir; eleven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; brothers-in-law, Darrell and Carolyn Meadows of Charleston, W. Va., Paul (Kathy) Meadows of Cuyahoga Falls; sister-in-laws, Carol Meadows of Akron and Debbie (Frank) Newlon of Akron; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Virginia G. Jones
Virginia G. Jones, 76, a 41-year resident of Boston Heights, died Monday, May 18, at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jones was born in Cleveland in September 1921. She was married to the late John C. Jones for 52 years. Mr. Jones passed away in October 1992. Virginia enjoyed bowling, boating, and fishing. She is survived by sons, Jack R. Jones (Pat) and James M. Jones. She was the grandmother of Debby Cooley, John Jones, Christine Fazio, and Shawn Jones; and the great-grandmother of Michelle Cooley, Lauren Fazio, and Willy and Jacob Jones. Friends may call at the Ferfolia Funeral Home, 356 W. Aurora Rd. David Nicholas Juersivich
CANAL FULTON -- David Nicholas Juersivich, 54, died suddenly at home on May 16, 1998. Born in Barberton on Jan. 9, 1944, he was a lifelong resident of the Clinton/Canal Fulton area. He was a graduate of Northwest High School and Kent State University. Mr. Juersivich began his career as a math teacher at Doylestown High School. He joined Babcock and Wilcox in the 1970s, later transferring to Ebner Furnaces. He retired from Ebner Furnaces in 1997. Mr. Juersivich was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. The eldest of seven children, he grew up in a close-knit family. Through marriage, he became part of another close-knit family and took great joy in family gatherings and events. He spent a great deal of time serving the community and its young people. Active in the Canal Fulton Jaycees, he was instrumental in the construction of the St. Helena II. He served as a softball umpire, a T-Ball coach, and commissioner of the Northwest Youth Football League. He helped with Indian Guide and Maiden groups. He was also involved in the development of the Youth Sports Complex. Preceded in death by his first wife, Becky S. Juersivich; and his father, Nicholas Juersivich, he is survived by his wife, Donnell (Denton) Juersivich; sons, Michael Juersivich and Keith Juersivich; daughter, Stacey Juersivich; foster son, Aaron Simon; stepchildren, Joe Laterza and Lisa Laterza; grandchildren, Britny, Michael, and Macey, all of Canal Fulton; mother and stepfather, Betty and Leonard Beech of Manchester; mother-in-law, May Denton of Akron; sisters, Carol (Jim) Wertz of North Canton, Kathy (Dave) Berger of Marshallville; brother, Tom (Cindy) Juersivich of North Lawrence, Maj. Ed (Wanda) Juersivich of Virginia, Denny (Joy) Juersivich of Clinton; Bob (Jenna) Juersivich of Orville; brothers-in-law, Rev.
