Edward H. Gamber
Retired draftsman, engineer, businessman
Edward H. Gamber, 71, of 512 Parkview Drive, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, May 29, 1998, at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1927, in Upper Sandusky, to the late Edward H. and Carrie (Reynolds) Gamber, Sr. He married Molly M. Matthew August 28, 1949.
In addition to his wife, Molly, he is also survived by: three sons, Christopher M. of Upper Sandusky, David S. of Cocoa, Fla. and John H. of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Cynthia) King of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren; and a brother, James A. Gamber of Grove City.
Mr. Gamber was a 1945 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who served from 1945-47 on the U.S.S. Charles P. Cecil destroyer. After attending Bowling Green State University, he graduated in 1949 from I.T.T., Chicago, Ill., in mechanical engineering. He retired in 1995 from San-Con Corp., where he was part-owner, and worked as a draftsman and engineer. He designed many buildings in Upper Sandusky. He had also worked for Ruttmann Construction Co. and Sheldrik Manufacturing, both in Upper Sandusky, and for Marion Power Shovel.
A member of John Stewart United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky, Gamber was an Explorer Boy Scout leader for seven years in Upper Sandusky. He was a life member of B.P.O.E. 83, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1957 and 1973, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. Northwest District, State of Ohio, in 1983, and was a member of the B.P.O.E. Past Exalted Rulers Association of Local and State Organizations. Other groups to which he belonged included: Warpole Masonic Lodge 176, McCutchen Chapter 96, and U.S. Council 98; Tiffin Commandery, Zenobia Shrine, Toledo; Wyandot County Shrine Club; Tiffin Shrine Club; and O.E.S. SappHo Chapter, Attica.
Gamber had a special interest in Wyandot County history. He also enjoyed summers with friends at Bay Point, Marblehead, Ohio, for 30 years.
The Rev. Lenn Geiger will preside at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bringman & Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. A private internment service will be held at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday, where an Elks memorial service will be held at 8 p.m.

Dennis L. LeJeune
Retired steeplejack
Dennis L. Le Jeune, 56, 49 Longfellow Drive, died in St. Francis Home Friday morning, May 29, 1998, following an illness of several months.
He was born Jan. 27, 1942, to the late Lawrence and Audrey (Smith) Le Jeune.
His girlfriend of five years, Burdella Enders of Tiffin, survives.
Preceding him in death were a brother, John Hambly; and an infant sister.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. LeJeune had been employed by Scholman Co. of Bellevue as a steeplejack, retiring in 1968. He had attended Fremont Ross High School.

John D. Nims, 80, of North SR 101, died at 10:15 a.m. Friday, May 29, 1998, in St. Catherine's Care Center, where he had been a patient for a day.

Suzanne Thompson
Registered nurse
Suzanne Thompson, 40, of 664 Willowby Run, Pasadena, Md., died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 1998, at the home of her sister in Tiffin.
She was born Aug. 11, 1957, in Tampa, Fla., to Stanley and Frances (Magalski) Thompson. Her father survives in Sayre, Pa.
Other survivors include: three sisters, Sandi Hill of Port Orange, Fla., Donna Thompson of Endicott, N.Y., and Pam Faber of Tiffin; and three brothers, Stanley Thompson of Greensburg, Pa., Dana Thompson of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Nathan Thompson of Fort Drum, N.Y.
Her mother is deceased.
A 1975 graduate of Waverly, Ohio, High School and a 1978 graduate of Binghamton, N.Y., General Hospital School of Nursing, Ms. Thompson had been employed as a registered nurse at Baltimore General Hospital, Baltimore, Md.
Services in the Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel, Pa., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, with the Rev. Ron Onder officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, Pa.
Visitation at the Wilson Funeral Home, will be 7-9 p.m. Monday.

E. Pauline Hirt
42-year pharmacy employee
E. Pauline Hirt, 73, of East Maple St., Clyde, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 28, 1998, in the Bellevue Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1925, in Clyde, to John Brutcher and Ethel (Dearsman) Brutcher Mears. Her husband, Warren Hirt, whom she married June 12, 1948, survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Thomas D. Hirt of Blacksburg, Va., and Timothy S. Hirt of Zionsville, Ind.; a daughter, Susan Collins of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Brutcher of Fremont, Ronald Brutcher of Bassett, Va., and Robert Brutcher of Monroeville; and a sister, Mrs. James (Kathrynn) Ritchey of Clyde.
A brother, Doyle L. Brutcher, is deceased.
Mrs. Hirt, a lifetime resident of the Clyde area, had been employed at Whitaker Drug, Jennings Pharmacy and Seaman's Pharmacy, for a combined total of 42 years.
A 1943 Clyde High School graduate, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde; and the Board of Elections in Clyde for more than 25 years.
The Rev. Stephen Wood will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Joe A. Schafer
Former Tri-City Motors owner
Joe A. Schafer, 55, 1356 Orr Rd., Sycamore died at 10:57 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. He was born March 3, 1943 to Robert Schafer, who survives in Sycamore, and Dortha (Spayth) Schafer, deceased. On March 20, 1964, Mr. Schafer married Sandra L. Jackson, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Brad Schafer of Sycamore; two daughters, Mrs. Preston (Tamria) Risner of Carey and Michelle Schafer of Sycamore; three brothers, Richard and Steve Schafer, both of Sycamore, and Mike Schafer of Bloomville; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Grant Risner.
Mr. Schafer was a 1961 graduate of Lykens High School. He was a farmer and former owner of Tri-City Motors, Bucyrus. Memberships included: Baseline United Church of Christ, Indian Mill Antique Association, Ohio Antique Tractor Pullers Association, and the Ohio State Antique Tractor Pullers Association.
The Rev. Daniel Ward and the Rev. Timothy Grimes will officiate the 11 a.m., Monday, June 1, 1998 service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Baseline U.C.C. cemetery.
Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, May 31 at the funeral home.
