Velma G. Holm

Velma G. Holm, 97, of 16178 E. TR 12, Attica, died Saturday evening, June 20, 1998, in Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 10, 1901, in Lykens, to William H. and Louise (Durr) Fike. On Sept. 23, 1922, she married Harold D. Holm. He preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Joan Spaulding of Fremont; a granddaughter, Susan Spaulding Combs of Eaton; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeanette Dutrow of Tiffin and Bernice Brell of Maumee.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Clayton Fike.
Mrs. Holm, a homemaker, was an accomplished violinist. She studied music at the Lyceum Arts Conservatory in Chicago and joined the Lyceum and Chautauqua Touring Company as first violinist and company manager, until she married.
She was a member, for more than 70 years, of the following: Attica United Methodist Church, Women's Literary Guild, the 1917 Club and Sappho Chapter Order Eastern Star of Attica.
A 1919 graduate of Bloomville High school, she had attended the Frog Pond one-room school.
Services in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Raymond Peters and Pastor James Avers of the Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont, officiating. Burial will be in Brokensword Cemetery, Brokensword.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of the service.
Memorials may be made to the Attica United Methodist Church music department or a charity of the donor's choice.
Genevieve E. Ringle
Former U.S. government employee
Graveside services for former Attica resident, Genevieve E. (Hook) Ringle, 85, of Vermilion, who died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in Mill Manor Nursing Home, will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Attica-Venice Cemetery. The Rev. Edward Faulk will officiate. Ruth E. Weimerskirch
Former Tiffin resident
Word has been received of the death of Ruth E. Weimerskirch, 78, formerly of Tiffin, who died Thursday, June 11, 1998, in Sarasota, Fla.
She was born Dec. 3, 1919, in England and came to Sarasota 14 years ago from Tiffin.
Surviving are her husband, Elmer H. Weimerskirch; a daughter, Beverly Hartman of Tiffin; a sister, Dorothy Fry of Norwich, Norfolk, England; a brother, William Fry of Norwich; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Weimerskirch was a member of Catholic Church of the Incarnation.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, in the Catholic Church of the Incarnation. Direct Mortuary Services/Sun Coast Crematory, is in charge of arrangements.

George Ray Huston
Ohio Edison employee/truck farmer
George Ray Huston, 76, of 6195 E. SR 101, Clyde, died unexpectedly Friday, June 12, 1998, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Guersey County, Washington Township, to Fred and Jennie (Huston) Nay. On July 22, 1949, he married Marilyn E. Murphy, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Melanie) Taylor and Mrs. Dean (Melinda) Auxter, both of Clyde; two sons, Ronald R. Huston of Bellevue and William Huston of Zanesville, and eight grandchildren.
A truck farmer, Mr. Huston also was employed as a senior agricultural representative with Ohio Edison for 32 years, retiring in October, 1985. He also taught vocational agriculture at Union Local in Richland County for five years.
He was a member of the Townsend and Pamona Granges, the First United Methodist Church, Clyde, where he had served on various committees; Townsend Ruitan, where he aided in starting several local Ruritan Clubs and served as the zone governor and held many offices. He was serving his third term as Townsend Township Trustee and was currently serving in the Erie/Hurd County Rural Water Authority.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having played on its baseball team, he was a life member of Clyde VFW; helped start the Townsend Little League and enjoyed fruit and vegetable farming.
The last of his family, he had resided in the Clyde area since 1953, coming there from Mansfield.
A 1939 graduate of Newcomertown High School, he graduated in 1948 from the Ohio State University, where he also played baseball.
Services in the First United Methodist Church, Clyde, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. John Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Parkhurst Cemetery, Clyde, with military graveside services provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 2-9 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to Townsend Ruritan or the First United Methodist Church operating fund.
Henry Marion Featheringill
Attica resident
Henry Marion Featheringill, 87, 204 N. Main St., Attica, died at 12:29 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Hillside Acres, Willard. He was born August 21, 1910, in Attica to David F. and Mary (Steele) Featheringill. On July 19, 1933, he married Doris M. (Mills); she preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Jean) Heibertshausen of Attica, and Ms. Ruth Gangluff of Findlay; a brother, Willis Featheringill of Willard; a sister, Mrs. Lester (Joan) Hamilton of Attica; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; two brothers, Ted and Gale; three sisters, Pearl Miller, Ruth Secrest, and Viola Stockmaster; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Featheringill was a farm mechanic and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Attica.
The Pastor James Barkenquast will officiate the 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 15, 1998, service at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica. Burial will be at the Attica-Venice cemetery, Attica.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, June 14 at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home, Attica.
Bertie M. (Gran) Pence

Bertie M. (Gran) Pence, 98, formerly of 207 S. 4th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 1998. She lived at the Fairhaven Health Care Community for the last 1 1/2 years. She was born July 23, 1899 in Dalton, Ga., to Thomas Jackson and Lena (Hamel) Kidd. On Jan. 13, 1918, she married Charles Franklin I. Pence in Chattanooga, Tenn. He died Feb. 17, 1952.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Estel (Helen) Crowder of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Sherman (Bessie) Smathers of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three daughters, Neva Pearl, Elizabeth Van Horn, and Mary Newhouser; nine brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Pence was a homemaker and a member of the Community Christian Center of Upper Sandusky.
The Rev. Bill Williamson will officiate the 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 1998, service, at the Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Burial to follow.
Visitation hours are from 6-8 p.m., today, and one hour prior to the service at the Bringman and Co. Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Community Christian Center or to Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Steven A. Lamma
Lifetime Tiffin resident
Steven A. Lamma, 44, 2435 N. TR 73, Tiffin, died Thursday, June 11, 1998. He was born June 26, 1953, in Tiffin to John D. and Marguerite (Feasel) Lamma, both deceased.
Survivors include a son, Matthew A. Lamma of Tiffin; his fiancee, Rachelle Needles of Tiffin; three brothers, John M. Lamma of Tiffin, Kenneth W. ''Duke''Lamma of La., and Harold L. Lamma of Delaware; three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Patricia) Smith, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Warren, and Mrs. Michael (June) Holcomb, all of Tiffin.
Mr. Lamma was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Memberships included the First Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Rev. John S. Ferne will officiate the 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 1998, service at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Seneca Memorial Gardens. The United Veterans Council will hold Military Graveside Services at Seneca Memorial Gardens.
Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m., today, at the Funeral Home.
