SMITH, Unknown - IRONTON JOURNAL Oct. 13, 1869
Last Sat. morning a man about 45 yrs old sat down near Mr. JACKMAN'S house
on Railroad St, looking and acting strange. Mr. JACKMAN invited the man in
to eat, and the man died after passing out. It is ascertain the man's name
was SMITH & had been traveling to KY, fixing and mending clocks and peddling
salve. Some salve found on him was labeled "Smith's Conklin salve." He had
labels printed at this office. He informed Mr. Meredith of Coalton, a short
time since, that he lived in Greenupsburg. Buried in Henry's Cem.

BECKER, MR. AND MRS. FRED - SEMI WEEKLY IRONTONIAN Feb. 4, 1908
After a congenial wedded life of more than fifty years, Mr. & Mrs. Fred
BECKER, long honored and respected residents of this city, but for the past
three years citizens of Fayetteville, WV, were parted by death. The husband
passing quietly away last week after a long illness. Their separation was
not for long, however, as the soul of his wife winged its flight to the
better world, Sat. morning at 6:00, there to join for time everlasting that
of her beloved helpmate. Mr. BECKER'S remains were brought here for
interment and were accompanied by his wife, who was prevailed upon by her
old time friends, Mrs. PAYNE, who resides in the house on Railroad Street
near Fourth, where the BECKERS made their home for so many years to visit
her for a few days and rest from her sad and tiresome journey. Mrs. BECKER
took to her bed shortly after her husbands funeral, never to rise again. She
had contacted a severe cold which developed into pneumonia and she gradually
grew worse until her final dissolution Sat. morning. Mrs. BECKER was 74
years old and was born in Jever, Germany. She was married there to Mr.
BECKER and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last July. Most
of their married life was spent in Ironton, and for a long time, they
resided on Railroad street, where Mr. BECKER conducted a gun smith shop. Her
only child, Emil W. BECKER, with her at the time of her death, having come
her from Fayetteville a few days since when he learned that his mother was
so critically ill. Mrs. BECKER was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church of
this city. Burial in Woodland cemetery by the side of her late husband.

lungs.
DUNCAN, DONALD LLOYD - Huntington Herald Dispatch - 2/21/1950
Seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Duncan of Chesapeake, died at the
residence yesterday morning. Death was a attributed to pneumonia. Funeral
services will be conducted at 2 P.M.. tomorrow at the Point Pleasant
Christian Church in Lawrence County by the Rev. Max Cleveland Burial will be
in Centenary Cemetery Donald was a first grade pupil at Windsor School.
Surviving in addition to the parents are a sister Carol Duncan, a brother
Billy Ray Duncan, at a home; the maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde
Leffingwell of Chesapeake and the paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Duncan of Willowwood, OH. The body has been taken to the residence from the
Schneider Funeral Home at Chesapeake.
EAKINS, DR. F. R. - IRONTON REGISTER JAN. 30, 1879 Died - Dr. F. R. Eakins, formerly
of Etna Furnace, died at Macon, Ill., last Sunday. The remains were brought
to Powellsville. Dr. Eakins was an intelligent and upright citizen and well
thought of in this community.
BROWN, JOHN WESLEY - Ironton Tribune - Thursday 8/4/1977
85, of Proctorville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1977, in a Huntington
Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hall
Funeral Home, Proctorville, by the Rev. William Reincheld. Burial will be in
Rome Cemetery. He was born Dec. 18, 1891, in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son
the late Amos and Orlena Ferris Brown. He was a retired employe of ACF
Industries and a member of Proctorville United Methodist Church. His wife,
Adren Brown preceded him in death in 1974. Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Elois Sites of Proctorville, Ohio; a son, Waldo Brown of Proctorville,
Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Brammer and Mrs. Zilla Ferris, both of
Chesapeake, Ohio; three brothers, McKinley and Gillie Brown, both of
Chesapeake, Ohio, and Corbet Brown of Proctorville, Ohio, seven
great-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 pm
Thursday at the funeral home.
DILLON, HENRY - IRONTON REGISTER JULY 18, 1895
Died - Near Scott Town, last Friday, the 12th, Henry Dillon, an old and
esteemed citizen of Windsor township. Mr. Dillon had been sick of some form
of kidney complaint for about two weeks. His age was 64. He came from Monroe
county to Lawrence in 1847. He married a Miss Reed, who with two daughters
and a son, survives him.

HUBBARD, MRS. SARAH - IRONTON REGISTER APRIL 11, 1901
Mrs. Sarah Hubbard, aged 85 years, died at her home, corner of Eighth and
Pine street, Friday. Old age was the cause of her demise. She was the mother
of Mr. Andrew Baldwin of this city, Rev. Jarvey Baldwin and A. J. Bruce of
Kitts Hill, Mrs. Mary Hall of Ironton, Mrs. Martin Casey of Old Maidsville,
and Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Bentley of Floyd Co., Ky. Burial at Hecla.

A young German, attempted to drown himself by jumping in the river near
Grant Furnace. He had been in the country but 3 or 4 months from Baden....
WINDELL, CHILD - IRONTON REGISTER JAN. 16, 1879
Inquest held over the body of Josephine Windell's two month old child, which
died suddenly on the 8th, at the house of Mr. Tophanes, about two miles out
on the Porter Gap road.

Was run over by a loaded coal car Tuesday morning of last week and was
crushed in a fearful manner. She died the next day. Over 70 yrs old.
DELAWDER, ARLEY MONROE - Huntington Dispatch - Wednesday 2/18/1987
81, of Chesapeake, husband of Lillie Johnson Delawder, died Monday at his
residence. He was a retired Kessler Brass Foundry employee. Also surviving
are three daughters, Barbara Chaney of Proctorville and Betty Ward and
Brenda Wright, both of Chesapeake; and three sons, Marvin R. Delawder and
Dale Delawder of Chesapeake, and Darvin Delawder of Lexington, NC. Funeral 3
p.m. tomorrow at Schneider Funeral Home, Chesapeake, burial in Highland
Memorial Gardens, South Point.
