DEMPSEY, ARTHUR - IRONTON REGISTER MAY 30, 1907
Arthur Dempsey who has been at the Athens State Hospital for some time died
there Saturday night and his remains arrived here Sunday for interment. Mr.
Dempsey leaves a wife and four children, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. H. Dempsey, who reside a mile or so below Hanging Rock. He fell from a
street car here some four years ago and the blow seemed to injure his brain
from which effect he never recovered.

Murder in Jackson County - The Jackson Standard says that the dead body of
James Carl was found in a coal pit near the Cross Roads station on the S. &
H. V. Railroad, on the 3d inst. - supposed to have been murdered with an

Employee of Ironton Mill, fell into an epileptic fit on some machinery and
severely cut himself on the forehead.
THOMPSON, JESSE - SEMI WEEKLY IRONTONIAN Jan. 10, 1908
Death in a horrible form was meted out to Jesse and John THOMPSON, brothers,
aged 22 and 30, respectfully, Tuesday afternoon at 10:00, when a saw mill
boiler exploded on the old Sutton farm near Sedan. Jesse THOMPSON was blown
across the creek. His body was badly mangled and he was dead when picked up.
John THOMPSON was blown 100 feet and badly scaled. He was alive at 1:00, but
his death was expected at any minute and he cannot recover. The saw mill
which is owned by their father, Wm. J. THOMPSON, was a total wreck. The
mill, which is located on a Mr. MOORE'S farm, a mile east of Sedan, was
operated by Wm. THOMPSON and his three sons, all residents of Rarden, which
village is in a great state of excitement over the awful accident......

HALLECK, EMMA - Ironton Tribune - Monday 6/8/1953
Sixty six years old of South Point, O., Route 1, died at 11 p.m. Saturday in
an Ironton hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow
at the Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Clifford Suiter. Burial will
follow in Tabor Cemetery. Surviving are four sons, Hoadley Franklin and Clay
Halleck of South Point and Clyde Halleck of Athens, O.; a daughter, Mrs.
Edna May Adkins of Chesapeake; a brother, Grover Jones of Proctorville, and
five grandchildren and one great grandchild. The body will be taken to the
residence from Schneider Funeral Home at Chesapeake at 1 p.m. today.

WOLFE, CELIA A. - IRONTON REGISTER MAY 28, 1891
Scott Town, Ohio - On Last Wednesday, May 20th, 1891, Celia A. Wolfe, one of
the oldest and most respected neighbors of this vicinity, died suddenly at
the age of 85 years, she having been born in Virginia, Sept. 15, 1806. Mrs.
Wolfe was the widow of George F. Wolfe, who died a few years ago at the
advanced age of 93 years. Six children survive these aged people, five of
whom attended the funeral at the beautiful cemetery near Locust Grove, where
here husband is buried. One son lives in Illinois and was not present. Two
sons of the deceased served during the late war and yet survive. One of them
Calvin P. Wolfe, lives in Ironton; the other in Illinois. The father of
these children, and husband of the deceased, served in the war of 1812.

Was killed in an boiler explosion about 1 mile back of Wheelersburg, OH last
Monday morning. WOLFORD was literally blown to pieces. He leaves a wife and
one child.

Died. Born England Nov. 5, 1819. Emigrated with his parents when he was 11
yrs old and settled in Phila., PA. He married and emigrated to Ohio and
settled in Ironton. He moved to Burlington, where his family still resides.

Died in Sandoval, Illinois, on Saturday, 19th inst., at the residence of her
father, E. Hurd, of consumption, Mrs. Juliaette B. Stimson, in her 30th
year, and on Sunday, Luella Har___, aged 4 months and 9 days, wife and child
of the editor of this paper the little one resting on the bosom of its
mother in the same coffin.

Lived in Ironton in its early days, now runs a dollar store in Chicago. He
calls in the City of Paris Dollar Store and advertises it extensively. He is
said to have made $200,000 out of the enterprise.
