ELLISON, CYRUS - IWR FEB. 20, 1897
Died age 81, pioneer in the iron industries. Cyrus Ellison, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Ellison, was born near Manchester, Ohio, August 21, 1816. He
came to Ironton in 1854. Was an agent for Rogers, Dempsey & Ellison,
proprietors of Vesuvius and Etna Furnaces, and the Lawrence Mill. He became
president of the Lawrence Mill Co., succeeding his brother, John Ellison, in
that position. He was one of the principal stockholders in the Big Etna
furnace of this city, and was also for a time the President of the Iron
Railway Co. He was a stockholder in the Second National Bank of Ironton and
for many years a member of its board of directors. Mr. Ellison's first wife
died in 1864, and in 1871, he married the present Mrs. Ellison, who survives
him. Two children, daughters of his first wife, also survive him. These are
Mrs. George T. Scott of Columbus and Mrs. C. B. McQuigg of this city.

ERNST, ANDREW H. - IRONTON REGISTER FEB. 23, 1860
Andrew H. Ernst, a distinguished horticulturist at Cincinnati (Spring
Garden) died on the 13th inst., aged 63. He was a native of Germany, and
came to Cincinnati with his father, about 54 years ago.

81, of Crown City, Ohio, husband of Maggie Jeffers Freeman, died Saturday in
Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was a retired construction
worker. He also is survived by one son, Charles W. Freeman of Scottown; and
five daughters, Ella Mae Riggs of Wayne, WV, Lucille Faye Freeman of Crown
City, Ohio, and Gloria Jean Clonch, Sheila June Atha and Ruth Lynn Freeman,
all of Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Willis Funeral Home,
Gallipolis, Ohio; burial in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CALL, HORACE - IRONTON JOURNAL Feb. 22, 1871
The young lady who was to be married in three weeks to Horace CALL, had he
not shot himself accidentally, was previous married to a young man, who
while out hunting more than one yr ago, met with similar accident.
CLARK, LILLIAN F. - Huntington Herald Dispatch - Wednesday, 2/17/1993
Mrs. Lillian F. Clark, 56, of Chesapeake Rt. 2, died suddenly at her home
Saturday. A daughter of the late Cecil and Lennie Cron Rigney, Mrs. Clark
was born Sept. 23, 1922 in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was preceded in death
in 1976 by her husband, Cecil. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis
Ferris of Chesapeake, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a
half brother, Carlton Ellis of Scottown, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 2
p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Suiter officiating.
Interment will be in Perkins Ridge Cemetery.

Died ____ Smith, at Mr. Jackson's house when Mr. Jackson took him home to
help. He was living in Greenupsburg. Age 45 years. Buried in Henry Cemetery.
WHEELERSBURG, John - SEMI WEEKLY IRONTONIAN Jan. 28, 1908
Mr. W. died at the Deaconess Hospital where he was taken shortly after the
accident Saturday night. A frightful accident which will no doubt cost the
life of one man and leaves another with injuries whose effects will probably
be with him until he goes to his grave, occurred about 8:30 Sat. morning at
the plant of the Marting Iron & Steel Co. The victims were John
WHEELERSBURG, the foreman at the furnace and Joseph STEPHENSON, a keeper,
familiarly known as "Dude" STEPHENSON. The former had both arms blown off at
the elbow and sustained other injuries about the face and body, while
STEPHENSON'S principal injury was the probable loss of the sight of one eye
and injuries about the head and face.
