James Carson Copenhaver, age 59, of Brighton, Michigan, formerly of Georgetown, Ohio died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Copenhaver was an Area Service Manager for General Motors. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 8, 1944 the son of Nellie (Howser) Copenhaver of Georgetown, Ohio and the late Carlton Copenhaver.
Mr. Copenhaver is survived by his wife, Barbara (Drake) Copenhaver; two sons - Mike Copenhaver and wife, Darcey of Dandridge, Tennessee and Clint Copenhaver of Ann Arbor, Michigan; one daughter, Heidi Shelton and husband, Tom of Brighton, Michigan; his mother, Nellie Copenhaver of Georgetown, Ohio; one sister, Jann Dietz of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren - Maddie and Lucas; mother-in-law, Pauline Drake of Georgetown, Ohio and also Aunts and an Uncle.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Matthew Long will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 P.M. Saturday evening at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Mary E. (Thompson) Hannah
Mary E. Thompson Hannah, age 91 of Hamersville, Ohio died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Meadowwood Care Center in Georgetown, Ohio. Mrs. Hannah was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church and a 1932 graduate of Georgetown High School. She served many years on the Hamersville Village Council and was co-owner of Hannah's Swap Shop in Hamersville. She was the widow of a World War 2 veteran, Harold Hannah. Mrs. Hannah was born on November 14, 1912 in Georgetown, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (nee Risch) Thompson. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Frederick Thompson.
Mrs. Hannah is survived by one son and daughter-in-law - Fred Homer and Louise Hannah; one grandson - Eric David Brown; one granddaughter - Cara Risch Hannah-Frye and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 23, 2004 at the Meadowwood Care Center Chapel, Stephens Avenue, Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Ken Rutherford will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 A.M. Monday at the chapel. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family. Darrell (Jack) Hanselman
Darrell D. (Jack) Hanselman, age 69 of Georgetown, Ohio died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at the Meadowwood Care Center in Georgetown, Ohio. Mr. Hanselman was a machinist at Cincinnati Milacron and retired after forty years of service. He also was an Army veteran, a member of the F.O.E. #2293 and the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180. He was born on November 11, 1934 in Brown County, Ohio the son of the late Edward and Stella (Martin) Hanselman. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Hanselman and three brothers, Ralph Edward, William E. and Robert P. Hanselman.
Mr. Hanselman is survived by his wife - Judy (Smith) Hanselman; two sons - Jay and Randy Hanselman both of Georgetown, Ohio; one sister - Betty Loudon of Georgetown, Ohio and two sisters-in-law - Helen Hanselman of Cleveland, Ohio and Betty Hanselman of Georgetown, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Scott Hennig will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery in Russellville, Ohio. Mrs. Nita E. Jennings
Mrs. Nita E. Jennings, age 82 of Georgetown, Ohio died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at the Villa Georgetown Nursing Home. Mrs. Jennings was the Brown County Treasurer for over 20 years, a member of the Republican Womens Club and the former Disciples of Christ Church in Georgetown, Ohio. She was born on January 31, 1922 in Georgetown, Ohio the daughter of the late Stanley Arthur and Ola Irene (Dunn) Hopkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jennings in 1989 and one brother, Stanley Lowell Hopkins.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by two sons - Ronald Jennings and wife, Sherry of Georgetown, Ohio and Stanley Jennings and wife, Carol of Georgetown, Ohio; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters - Irma Howser of Georgetown, Ohio and Reta Shaw of Xenia, Ohio.
Following cremation, memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. John D. Place will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. - 1 P.M. Wednesday. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Hospice of Hope.
George T. (Little Tom) Mitchell, Jr.
George Thomas (Little Tom) Mitchell, Jr., age 25, of Ripley, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was a United States Marine Corp. veteran and was employed at Brown County Rental in Aberdeen, Ohio. He was born on January 23, 1979 in West Union, Ohio the son of George T. (Tommy) Mitchell, Sr. and the late Linda Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather - Bill Mitchell, maternal grandfather - Bill Bailey, two uncles - Richard Gorman and Billy Bailey.
Little Tom is survived by his father and stepmother - George (Tommy) and Brenda Sue Mitchell of Ripley, Ohio; one brother, Jamie Mitchell of Aberdeen, Ohio; one step-sister, Becky Barber of Hillsboro, Kentucky; one step-brother - Stacy Boone of Hillsboro, Kentucky; his paternal grandmother, Frances Mitchell of Ripley, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Alberta Bailey of Aberdeen, Ohio; two uncles - Jimmy Mitchell and Johnny Gorman both of Aberdeen, Ohio; and five aunts - Karen Kemmeter of Amelia, Ohio; Connie Lainhart of Winchester, Ohio, Debbie Isaac of Aberdeen, Ohio; Babs Webb of Springfield, Tennessee and Patty Rice of Goshen, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6 - 9 P.M. Tuesday evening. Interment will be in Charter Oak Cemtery in Aberdeen, Ohio.
Mrs. Dorothy A. Stamper
Mrs. Dorothy Alma Stamper, age 85, of Georgetown, Ohio died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the Villa Georgetown Nursing Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Mrs. Stamper was a homemaker and a member of the Ripley Church of Christ. She was born on February 16, 1918 the daughter of the late Lawrence and Bertha (Shelton) Edmisten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zephery Stamper in 1996, four brothers - Carl, Dick, William and Forrest Edmisten and one sister, Edie Talley.
Mrs. Stamper is survived by two sons - Jackie Stamper of Maineville, Ohio and Floyd Stamper of Sardinia, Ohio; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and four sisters - Millie Hampton and Freida Kirker both of Georgetown, Ohio, Nell Linville of Hamersville, Ohio and Dardy Oller of Kettering, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Shinkles Ridge Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mrs. Katherine J. Lahke
Katherine J. Lahke, age 84 of Georgetown, Ohio died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Meadowwood Care Center in Georgetown, Ohio. Mrs. Lahke was a retired secretary and a member of the Russellville United Methodist Church. She was born on March 3, 1919 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late Wallace and Marguerite (Sanders) Whitaker.
Mrs. Lahke is survived by her husband - Frank Lahke; one daughter - Linda Martin and one son - Robert Hudson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2004 at the Meadowwood Care Center Chapel, 61 Stephens Avenue, Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Jamie Wirth will officiate. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Shinkles Ridge Cemetery. Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
Mrs. Leah Ellen Paeltz
Leah Ellen Martin Paeltz, age 95 of Georgetown, Ohio formerly of Hillsboro, Ohio died Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Ohio. Mrs. Paeltz had worked in the Bank of Russellville, Brown County Auditor's office, and the office of the Independent Tobacco Warehouse in Ripley, Ohio. While living in Russellville, Ohio she was very active in the Russellville Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher. In Hillsboro, Ohio she served as a Pink Lady at the Highland District Hospital for many years giving over 7200 volunteer hours. She was also a fifty year member of the Russellville Chapter #461 Order of Eastern Star and was past president of the Russellville American Legion Post #394 Auxiliary, the Brown County Senior Citizens, the Women's Sunday school class of the Georgetown United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Paeltz was born near Russellville, Ohio on October 26, 1908 the daughter of the late Willy and Minnie (Work) Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Paeltz in 1986.
Mrs. Paeltz is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Dave Warren will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 P.M. Sunday. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery in Russellville, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
