Louis S. Adkins, age 91, of Georgetown, Ohio died Saturday, March 02, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a retired Deputy Superintendent for the Massachusetts Correctional Institution and a United States World War II Coast Guard Veteran. Louis was born January 5, 1922 in Hamlin, West Virginia the son of the late Millard and Lelia Adkins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Brenda J. Edgecomb Hood, three brothers and four sisters Marie Brooks, Griffith Adkins, Faye Gandee, Leonard Adkins, Joel Adkins, Beatrice Grass and Lillian Hicks.
Mr. Adkins is survived by two daughters Cheryl Boss and husband Fredrick of Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Patricia Lumsden of Amherst, New York; nine grandchildren Karen Boss, Susan (Boss) Chilukuri, Tara (Lumsden) Dailey, Tamara Edgecomb, Stephen Boss, Jessica Edgecomb, Kevin Lumsden, Micaela (Lumsden) Lauer and Elise Lumsden; twelve great-grandchildren Shayne Edgecomb, Melanie Edgecomb, Kayla Simmons, Carrie Simmons, Annabelle Dailey, Sonia Chilukuri, Isabella Lumsden, Camden Dailey, Beckett Lauer, Sage Chilikuri, Colton Habermann and Piper Lauer; two sisters Lucille Miller of New Cumberland, West Virginia and Edith Moore of Feesburg, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Mike Starkey will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ash Ridge Cemetery near Russellville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, 2003 Veterans Blvd., Georgetown, Ohio 45121.
Dr. Kevin McGann
(March 5, 1924 - March 4, 2013)

Kevin C. McGann, M.D., age 88, of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, one day prior to his 89th birthday, at the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a graduate of Elder High School, Xavier University and St. Louis University from which he received his medical degree. He practiced medicine for thirty-eight years, delivering over 2000 babies. He was the Brown County Health Commissioner for over thirty years, former Brown County Coroner and Deputy Coroner and a United States Navy and Air Force veteran. Dr. McGann was honored with the Heart of Brown County Physician Award. He was an avid tennis and bridge player but in later years could always be found on a golf course. Dr. McGann was born March 5, 1924 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio the son of the late Harold and Alice (OBrien) McGann. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick and Thomas McGann and one grandson, Ian.
Dr. McGann is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Mary Jane (Kubler) McGann; six children - Kelly Stapleton, Colleen McGann, Tim McGann, Michael McGann, Terry McGann and Sharon Kreps; one sister - Noreen Swaren and seven grandchildren.
Following cremation, Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the St. George Catholic Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Dohrman Byers will be the celebrant. There will be no visitation prior to services. A reception for friends and family to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M.Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the St. George Catholic Church Hall. Emma "Chick" Jean Fultz

Emma Jean Chick Fultz, age 79, of Ripley, Ohio, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at her residence. She was a homemaker and a babysitter and caretaker of many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years. Mrs. Fultz was born September 8, 1933 in Brown County, Ohio the daughter of the late Howard Lee and Edna Evelyn (Eckler) Laypool. She was also preceded in death by one sister Dixie Ormes and two brothers Howard Dutch Laypool, Jr. and Charles Lee Laypool.
Mrs. Fultz is survived by her husband of forty seven years Gerald Fultz; seven children Billy Rick Kilgore, Jr. of Ripley, Ohio, Martha Vaughn of Ripley, Ohio, George Kilgore of Sardinia, Ohio, Gary Kilgore of Macon, Ohio, David Kilgore of Ripley, Ohio, Linda Darlene Herrmann of Ripley, Ohio and Mike Fultz of Manchester, Ohio; twenty grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters Frances Poole and Rose Truesdell of Ripley, Ohio; many nieces and nephews and her beloved pets - Rusty and Yankie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service in Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.
Christine Griffith
(June 22, 1931 - March 5, 2013)
Christine Pearl Littleton Griffith, age 81, of Georgetown, Ohio died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley, Ohio. She was retired from Kmart in Anderson Township, was a crossing guard for the Georgetown Exempted School District and worked at the Brown County General Hospital. Christine was born June 22, 1931 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky the daughter of the late Aurday and Lucille (Heflin) Littleton. Besides her parents, whom passed away when she was very young, she was preceded in death by Pearl and Clarence Yazell whom raised her, one son Donald Griffith and two granddaughters Faith and Hope Haubner.
Ms. Griffith is survived by five children- Pat Prather and husband Mike of Versailles, Kentucky, Debbie Haubner and husband Mike of New Carlisle, Ohio, Gary Griffith and wife Barb of Versailles, Kentucky, Kristie Mason and husband Tom of Georgetown, Ohio and Yvonne Houser and husband Bob of Cincinnati, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Scott Hennig will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 -3:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio.
James Smitson

James William Smitson, age 85, of Higginsport, Ohio died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was retired shoe cutter from the US Shoe Factory in Ripley, Ohio, a United State Army Veteran and a devoted Christian. Jim was born August 28, 1927 in Glendale, Ohio the son of the late Lon and Chloe (McBeath) Smitson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Gerald Smitson.
Mr. Smitson is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Ramona Mae (Cahall) Smitson, whom he married on July 8, 1948; one daughter Nelda Mae Lipps and husband Earl of Higginsport, Ohio; one grandson Damon Lipps of Higginsport, Ohio; brother-in-law Frank Cahall of Georgetown, Ohio and sister-in-law June Smitson of Georgetown, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Pastor Floyd Hopper will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shinkles Ridge Cemetery near Georgetown, Ohio. Beulah Mae Slater

Beulah Mae Slater, age 90, of Georgetown, Ohio died Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Eastgatesprings of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a homemaker and had been employed in retail clothing sales at Woolworth Department Store and Big Wheel. Mrs. Slater was born May 3, 1922 in Falmouth, Kentucky the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Margaret (Cheeseman) Hopper. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Slater in 1963, one son John Slater and one grandchild.
Mrs. Slater is survived by four children Charles Eddie Slater and Erma Wagner both of Sardinia, Ohio, Ruth King of New Richmond, Ohio and Jean Purdon of Ripley, Ohio, ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two brothers James McGuire of Indianapolis, Indiana and Robert McGuire of North Carolina and two sisters Evelyn Browning and Goldie Lonaker both of Falmouth, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Mary Louise Koerner
(January 17, 1927 - January 7, 2013)
Mary Louise DeVore Koerner, age 85 of Ripley, Ohio, died Monday January 7, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash. She worked at the former U.S. Shoe factory in Ripley for many years until its closing. She then became a certified nurse aide and worked at area nursing homes, Hospice of Hope and provided home healthcare. Mrs. Koerner was also the treasurer for Red Oak Cemetery for thirty three years. She was a member of the Ripley First Presbyterian Church, the Ripley Lions Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Koerner was born January 17, 1927 in Ripley, Ohio the daughter of the late Harry and Louise (Chavers) DeVore. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 2009, Dale E. Koerner.
Mrs. Koerner is survived by one son - Robert J. Gast and wife Sharon of Kings Mills, Ohio; two granddaughters Stacey Cook and Heather Overbay, both of Kings Mills; two great grandsons Dylan Overbay and Jacob Andrews, both of Kings Mills; three brothers Harry Bud DeVore of Ripley, Ohio, J.E. Raymond DeVore of West Liberty, Kentucky and Donald DeVore of Brevard, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Wayne Reveal will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service in Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.

Laura Ann White
(January 24, 1960 - January 13, 2013)
Laura Ann Cooper White, age 52 of Ripley, Ohio, lost her long battle with cancer on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Laura took care of her twin daughters Nicole and Sarah but also had worked for Browning Manufacturing, the American Cancer Society and Ripley Union Lewis Huntington Schools. She was a 1978 graduate of Ripley High School and participated in the Ohio State Youth Chorus. She was a member of the Ripley Church of Christ where she enjoyed singing specials for the church congregation. Laura was born January 24, 1960 in Maysville, Kentucky the daughter of the late Bernard and Anna Fred (Watson) Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her sister Judy Lee Cooper.
Laura is survived by her husband of twenty eight years, David McDowell White; two daughters Nicole and Sarah White; one sister Katherine Gast and husband Gene as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. John Neu will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hietts Chapel Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.
