Services for Alpha D. Barnett, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Denise Balmer officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The daughter of R.D. and Rosa Patterson Hurley, Mrs. Barnett was born Nov. 4, 1910, in Borden County, Texas. She died Nov. 12, 1997, in Ardmore after an extended illness.
She was a homemaker, a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Circle 2. She and Ulis Samuel Barnett were married Oct. 10, 1942, in Ardmore. He preceded her in death June 22, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Luke and Luther Hurley; and a sister, Alice Williams.
Survivors include a son, Gary Bob, Roff; and a granddaughter.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Hubert Lee Mobley, 69, will be 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Lisa Crone and Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jones.
Mobley died Nov. 10, 1997, in Oklahoma City. He was born March 12, 1928, at Jones to Gerald and Margaret C. Reese Mobley.
Reared in Jones, he received his bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State University and retired as a soil scientist for the Johnston County District Soil Conservation Department after 30 years of service. He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a member of VFW, Odd Fellows, and First United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and usher. He moved to Tishomingo in 1975. He and Retha Lee Dalroymple were married Jan. 29, 1951, at Jones.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Gerald; three daughters, Margaret O'Daniel, Broken Arrow, Retha C. Flowers, Tishomingo, and Elizabeth McCartney, Dougherty; a sister, Margaret Barrick, Osage, La.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Reese.
Corbin Funeral Home will direct services.
LEON -- Services for Lillie V. Reed, 93, Marietta, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Leon Baptist Church with the Revs. John Sconce and Casey Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery.
Mrs. Reed died Nov. 11, 1997, in the Marietta hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1904, at St. Jo, Texas, to Jim and Lola Martin Reed.
She had been a resident of Love County most of her life and was a member of Jimtown Baptist Church. She and Vascar Reed were married Jan. 12, 1924, at Illinois Bend, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 17, 1979; eight brothers, Burl, Lester, Frank, Andy, Elmer, Alfred, Herschell and Artie Reed; and three sisters, Hattie Reed, Vergie Donaghe and Ruby Miller.
Survivors include two sons, Heston, Marietta, and Huston, Leon; two brothers, Alvie Reed, Leon, and Austin Reed, Marietta; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Bearers will be Tim Campbell, F.S. Mapp, Carl, Darrell, Raymond, Elvis and Don Reed. Honorary bearers are Bud Clark, Ulys Mapp, John and Steve Reed.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at Kennedy Funeral Home.
WAPANUCKA -- Services for James Johnathan Smith, 90, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jon Smith officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka.
Smith died Nov. 11, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1907, in Moss, Tenn., to Huey and Florence Smith.
Married to Lee Ola Guffy Jan. 4, 1939, at Wapanucka, he had lived in this area most of his life and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a brother, Jack, Ravia; three sisters, Naomi Reese, Sulphur, Dorothy Harris, Amarillo, Texas, and Canna Arnold, Antlers. He was preceded in death by six sisters; and three brothers.
SULPHUR -- Services for Leona Jay Wells, 76, will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Townsend, Joe Williams and Brad Ransom officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Wells died Nov. 12, 1997, in Norman. She was born Dec. 25, 1920, at Caddo, to Luther and Myrtle Keeton Trammell.
Reared in the Sunshine community, she had lived in Sulphur since the early 1940s and had retired from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include four sons, James, Pauls Valley, Joe, Jerold and Jerry, Sulphur; four sisters, Blanche Payne, Jeffersonville, Ind., Francis Williams, Spokane, Wash, Mildred York and Lavon Wells, Midwest City; three brothers, Leroy Trammell, Shawnee, Dennis Trammell, Tecumseh, and Alvin Trammell, Madill; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Trammell; and sister, Claudine York.
Bearers will be James, Jerold, Joe and Jerry Wells. Honorary bearers are Chuck, Coby, Brandon, Marty and Jerold Wells Jr.
Clagg Funeral Home will direct services.
MILBURN -- Services for Carolyn Elkins Futrell, 41, Tishomingo, were Saturday at Milburn Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Lansdale and the Rev. Wendell Brown officiating. Interment followed at Condon Grove Cemetery.
Born April 29, 1956, at Tishomingo to Newt and Hazel Standifer Elkins, she died Nov. 13, 1997, at Tishomingo. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She married John Robert "Bobby" Futrell in May 1979 at Durant. Mrs. Futrell was a physical therapist assistant at Johnston Memorial Hospital for 12 years. She was a member of the Community Church of Tishomingo.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter, Michelle Blakemore, Denison, Texas; two sons, B.J. Futrell, of the home, and Michael Stout, Tishomingo; her father; one brother, Stanley Elkins, Milburn; and one sister, Brenda Harper, Tishomingo.
Bearers were Jerry Bowles, Tracy McGlocklin, Ken Sliger, John H. Davis, George Johnson and Butch Sliger.
Services were under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
BAUM -- Graveside rites for Aline Jordan, 70, Dougherty, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lone Cedar Cemetery with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating.
Born Jan. 22, 1927, at Garvin County to Ruben and Altha Ellen Renshaw Carter, she died Nov. 14, 1997, at Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
She married Robert Jordan on June 10, 1950, at Sulphur. Mrs. Jordan had lived in the Baum area until moving to Dougherty 41 years ago. She was a housewife and a member of the Dougherty Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three sons, Robert, Bethel Acres, Sidney, Chickasha, and Joe, Dougherty; one brother, M.F. "Preacher" Carter, Russett; one sister, Floy McRavin, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Davey Dill, Tracy Carter, David Dill, Tommy Carter, Rusty Carter and Ronnie Carter.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
LONE GROVE --Memorial services for David D. Julian, 58, will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Carroll officiating. Interment was at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Sulphur Springs, Texas.
The son of J.W. and Myrtle Chester Julian, he was born Dec. 2, 1939, at Sulphur Bluff, Texas. He died Nov. 12, 1997, at an Oklahoma City hospital following a train-truck accident.
Julian was reared and educated at Sulphur Springs. He completed one year of college before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1962. He served four tours of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a captain in 1974. He then began driving semitractor-trailers for various companies, as well as working in the oil fields. He had been working for Ellsworth Motor Freight Lines.
Survivors include three brothers, Ray and Jay W., both Sulphur Springs, and Hoyle, Klondike, Texas; five sisters, Maxyne Heimgartner and Gay Hopkins, both Dallas, Nadine Drake, Farmersville, Texas, Melba Blount, Sulphur Springs, and Gale Blair, Fort Worth, Texas; and a stepson, Billy Ray Parker, Ringling.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
There will be no local services for Kevin Siany, 36, Ardmore.
Born April 28, 1961, at Ithaca, N.Y. to Alfred and Beverly Aubry Siany, he died Nov. 13, 1997, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Siany worked as a mechanic.
Survivors include two brothers, David and Fred, both Ardmore; three sisters, Terry Lykins, Liverpool, N.Y., Cheryl Lewis, Krum, Texas, and Lisa Blankenship, Dickson; his grandmother, Genevieve Siany, Liverpool.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
GAINESVILLE, Texas -- Services for Casey A. McCage, 19, Thackerville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gainesville, Texas. Bishop Morgan Lybbert will officiate. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.
McCage died Nov. 14, 1997, at Ada. He was born Feb. 27, 1978, at Grand Prairie, Texas.
He had lived in Thackerville all his life and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Before he graduated from Thackerville High School in 1996, he received many awards in basketball and football, including All District, All Conference, and several Most Valuable Player awards. He was a student at East Central University.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Katrina McCage, of the home; five brothers, Chad, Ada, Cody, Durant, Craig, Cliff and Chase, all of the home; two sisters, Misty Briggs, Thackerville, and Mallori McCage, of the home; and grandmother, Lujuana Worley, Thackerville.
Bearers will be Ondy Voyles, Randy Brown, Andy Renfro, Jeremy Pearman, Chuck McCage and Robbie Morris. Honorary bearers are fellow members of his 1996 graduating class.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Lillie Caudle Hilton, 101, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clagg Funeral Home chapel with Mike Hughes and Bill Huckaby officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Hilton died Nov. 16, 1997, in Shawnee. She was born March 12, 1896, at St. Louis, Indian Territory, to Marcus Newton and Mary E. Cates Caudle.
Married to Robert Houston Hilton Dec. 28, 1919, at St. Louis, Okla., they moved to Healdton and operated a grocery and dry goods store before moving to Sulphur where they lived more than 20 years. She had lived in Shawnee since 1985. She was a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Vada Firebaugh, Shawnee; two sons, Gregg, Dillon, Mont., and William, Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Lula Patterson, Sulphur; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Chester Sliger, Max Hilton, Otis Davis, Carson Hollis, John Hendrickson and Loyd Ridling.
Services for Joe J. Daniel "Poppy" will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Bob Lee officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born to William and Tommie Daniel June 17, 1928, at Wilson, he died Nov. 16, 1997, in the local hospital.
He was an Army veteran and former salesman for Oliver Shoes. He was director of EPOCH for International Order of JOBS Daughters.
Survivors include three children, Stephen V. Daniels and Deborah L. Smith, both of Ardmore, and Tracy J. Daniels, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Chris A. Daniels, Nathaniel J. Smith and Summer N. Smith; a great-grandchild, Kalub Garrett Miller, and his mother, Rajeana Miller; three nephews, William Taylor of Buncombe Creek, Lyman Eubanks of Ardmore, Randy McBride of Houston; and a niece, Tommy Prell of San Diego.
Bearers will be Randy McBride, Jimmy Eubanks, Tim Eubanks, Kenny Henley, David Henley and Jerry Killian.
Services for Joyce Shotts, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Ed Elswick officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Shotts died Nov. 15, 1997, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born March 14, 1926, at Springer, to Sam and Velma Mitchell Walden.
A lifelong resident of this area, she graduated from Springer High School in 1944 and married Lonnie Shotts Oct. 23, 194, at Wichita Falls, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, of the home. She was preceded in death by a sister, Iona.
Bearers will be Eldon Kay, Norman Yordi, Jimmy Snodgrass, Carlas Williamson and Vernon Sluder.
