OVERBROOK -- Services for Andrew J. Swinney Jr., 85, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McAlister Cemetery with the Revs. Claude Williams and James King officiating.
Swinney died Feb. 7, 1998, at his home. He was born March 12, 1912, at Overbrook, to Andrew J. and Ada B. Crumb Swinney.
Married to Velma Frances Fox Dec. 28, 1931, in Love County, he worked for Wilson and Company in Oklahoma City 28 years before he retired. He maintained a home at Marsden most of his life and was a member of Marsden Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Doyle, in 1996; a brother; and sister.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Christine Nabors, Marsden; a brother, Hershel, Tribbey; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Charles and Bobby Campbell, Alan, Marty, Doug and Audie Swinney.
Kennedy Funeral Home, Marietta, will direct services.
RINGLING -- Graveside memorial services for Christy Dawn Nell Patty, 28, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Hancock officiating.
Mrs. Patty was born Aug. 11, 1969, to Jerry Edward and Linda Gayle Prentis Nell, at Wichita Falls, Texas. She died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Reared in Ringling, she graduated from Ringling High School in 1988 and attended Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls, where she received her degree in journalism. She was formerly employed at the attorney general's office in Wichita Falls.
She and Shannon L. Patty were married July 6, 1991, at Ringling, and made their home there. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Gayle Nell; and grandparents, Sherman and Thelma Nell.
Survivors include her husband, Shannon; and son, Dustin Chase Patty of the home in Ringling; her father and stepmother, Jerry and Nancy Nell of Iowa Park, Texas; a sister, Tifini Phelps, Ringling; and niece, Ramsey Phelps, Ringling; two brothers, Jeremy and Cody Nell, Iowa Park; and grandparents, Bobby and Ella Mae Hammons and Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Prentis, all of Ringling.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Preschool, 4th and H Street, Ringling, OK 73456.
Services will be directed by Alexander Funeral Home.
MANNSVILLE -- Services for Edna Dorer, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mannsville Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Tynes officiating. Interment will be at Lone Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
Mrs. Dorer died Jan. 27, 1998, at the Denison, Texas, hospital following a sudden illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1914, at Mannsville.
A lifetime resident of Mannsville, she married Alfred Dorer Dec. 15, 1934, here and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 5, 1983; two sons, Alvin and Albert; two brothers, Bob and Bill Loftis; and two sisters, Clellie Lowrey and Haskell Wright.
She is survived by a sister, Inez Dollar, Healdton.
Bearers will be Mutt Cothran, Paul and Walter Elledge, Ricky, Raymond, Ronnie and Dall Peoples.
WAURIKA -- Services for Carl Nordman, 82, are pending from Worley Funeral Home. He died Jan. 27, 1998, in the Waurika hospital.
MARIETTA -- Services for Odessa F. Tate, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Walters officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Garvin County, to Frank and Etta Williams Neal, Mrs. Tate died Jan. 26, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital.
Married to Edgar Tate Dec. 15, 1933, at Elmore City, she had lived in Ardmore since 1957, moving there from Marietta. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 28, 1981; a son, Dale on June 11, 1993; three brothers, John, Howard and Bill Neal; and four sisters, Ora Smith, Nellie Griffith, Edith Lynn and Fleeta Carmean Neal.
Survivors include four sons, Kenny, Ardmore, Billy, Haltom City, Texas, Johnny and Robert, Euless, Texas; six daughters, Cindy Freeman, Duncan, Shirley Eyster, Justin, Texas, Beverly Carmon and Iona Skidmore, Marietta, JoAnn Shaffer and Sue Whittington, Thackerville; five sisters, Flora Cohagen, Kilgore, Texas, Dean Mingus, Odessa, Texas, Alma Price, Juanita Ratcliff and Esther Cooper, Upland, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; several great, great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside rites for John William Fletcher were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Tishomingo Cemetery with the Rev. Lisa Crone officiating.
Born Sept. 17, 1901, in Brandon, Texas, to William B. and Ida Foster Fletcher, he died Jan. 27, 1998, in the local hospital.
He was chairman of the language arts department at Murray State College before he retired. The college auditorium was named in his honor. He was a Methodist.
He is survived by a sister, Lovene Franklin. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Margaret Whitsett in May of 1938.

WILSON -- Services for longtime Simon-Wilson resident Vivian Bilderback Thompson, 94, will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Vaughn Crowetipton and the Rev. Darel Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.
Born in Milam County, Texas, on Nov. 13, 1903, to George Summerfield and Mary Susan Rambo Bilderback, she joined two older sisters, Dexter and Laura Lee, and was followed in birth by Samuel Newton and Lucy Mae. The family moved to the Simon Community, south of Wilson, in 1916 where diligent work guaranteed a good living. She married Philip Thompson on June 15, 1924, at Wirt. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sons, J.L., R.K. and Eddie; and all of her siblings and their spouses.
She and her husband farmed in the Rose Hill and Black Jack Community, where they also reared their five children. She moved to Wilson in 1967 and was lovingly known as "Granny Vivian" by everyone. Mrs. Thompson was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. She was crowned Fall Festival queen in 1990 and was a member of the senior citizens center.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudia and her husband, C.N., Baine, Grandbury, Texas, and Jan T. Kirk, Ardmore; three daughters-in-law, Georgia Thompson Wood, Ardmore, Faye Thompson Beavers, Wilson, and Jill Thompson, Glenwood, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Kay Baine Ballard, Middleburg, Va., G. Steven Baine, Grand Prairie, Texas, Cal T. Baine, Virginia Beach, Va., Holly Baine Benge, Maplewood, N.J., David S. Thompson, Norman, Mark T. Thompson, Ringling, Lisa I. Thompson, Fort Worth, Texas, Dena F. Thompson, Ardmore, Ronny K. Thompson, Seattle, Philip C. Thompson, Wilson, Kevin R. Kirk, Springer, Vivian Dale Kirk Decker, Arlington, Texas, Eddie G. Thompson Jr., Seattle, and Danny E. Thompson, Glenwood; 19 great-grandchildren, many dear nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Bearers will be six of her grandsons.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Services for former Ardmore resident Izora Shelton Lemons were April 6, 1998, in Bakersfield, Calif.
She was born Sept. 10, 1915, at Simpson, to W.T. and Bernetie Wadkins Shelton and reared in the Simon and Springer area by her father and stepmother, Lillian Collins Shelton. She and Delmar Lemon were married in Ardmore and moved to California in the 1930s.
Survivors include two children; a sister, Melma Adams Chandler, Amarillo, Texas; three half sisters, Emogean Carter, Anna Sheehy and Bessie Elliott, all of Ardmore; four half brothers, W.T. and Willie, Ardmore, Worley, Lone Grove and Jesse, Blanchard; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half brothers, Woodrow and Wayne; and two half sisters, Leona and Betty Jo.
Services for Charles R. Campbell, 83, Tulsa, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel, 2570 S. Harvard Street, Tulsa. Masonic burial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Campbell was born June 25, 1914, at Chicago to Guy and Effie Campbell. He married Wilma Webb in 1937 at Ardmore. She preceded him in death in 1987, He then married Dorothy "Dede" Johnson. She preceded him in death just over a month ago at Monett, Mo.
Campbell was reared in Ardmore and graduated from high school in 1932. He attend Texas A&M University. He lived in San Diego before moving to Tulsa in the early 1950s. He was a member of the Eastside Christian Church and Brookside Masonic Lodge 538.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Neal, Tulsa, Connie Crunk, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Carolyn Wilkinson, San Jose, Calif.; one step-daughter, Kay Wrobleski, Monett., Mo.; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
DAVIS -- Services for Bessie Mae Penner will be 2 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Chapman and Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Born Feb. 28, 1921, at Titus County, Texas, to Willis P. and Myrtle Looney Honeycutt, she died April 17, 1998, at a Pauls Valley hospital.
She married James Harding Penner on Feb. 10, 1977, at Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Penner had lived in the area most of her life. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three stepdaughters, Louise Stewart, Seminole, Patricia Loghry, Tulsa, and Betty Cormany, Paoli; one stepson, Jimmy David Penner, Dallas; one sister, Zelma Rogers, Davis; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Services for Emma Lucille Nichols, 80, will be 2 pm. Tuesday at Cheek Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Born Jan. 27, 1918, at Texarkana, Ark., to John Monroe and Mary Francis Keeton Reeves, she died April 18, 1998, at a local nursing facility. She married Joe Allen Hunt, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1969. She then married James Melvin Nichols on April 17, 1980. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1987.
Mrs. Nichols had been an Ardmore resident since 1971, coming from Irving, Texas. She was a member of the Cheek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters Betty Roe and Linda Sloan, both Lone Grove; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Bearers are Sammy Joe Roe Jr., Chris Brawley, James Roe, Cody Brawley, Cameron Roe and Chad Sloan. Honorary bearers are Anthony Roe, Aaron Roe, Ray Morgan, Ed Finley and Jeramy Latham.
Mrs. Nichols will lie in state at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home until tonight. Visitation will be at Harvey-Douglas Lone Grove Chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside services for William Corbin O'Bryan, 80, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Tishomingo Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Lansdale officiating.
Born Sept. 9, 1917, at Tishomingo to Julian Blane O'Bryan Jr. and Mable Claire Newton O'Bryan, he died April 17, 1998, at Tishomingo. He married Margaret Marie Landram in January 1936 at Marietta. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, H.I. O'Bryan; and one grandson, Paul Leininger.
O'Bryan graduated from Tishomingo High School and attended Murray State College. He was the tag agent for Johnston County prior to his retirement and operated the Family Ford Dealership for 40 years. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Bill, Milburn, and John, Sulphur; one daughter, Peggy Leininger, Oklahoma City; one sister June Mitchell, Ada; and four grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
HENRYETTA -- Services for Ben McKinley Kaler Jr., Duncan, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Salem First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike O'Dell and the Rev. Terry Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.
Born May 4, 1931, at Henryetta to Ben and Rethel Brown Kaler Sr., he died April 15, 1998, at Duncan.
Kaler was a longtime resident of Henryetta. He married Geraldine "Jeri" Roberts on Aug. 4, 1993, at Marlow. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, and had served in the Korean Conflict. He had been a resident of Duncan since 1989.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Debbie Billingsley, Tulsa, Diane Andrews, Schulter, and Tonya Graham, Lindsey; one son, Dale Reynolds, Velma; four sisters, Helen Sinder, Henryetta, Betty Pritty, Chouteau, Barbara Martin, Silver Springs, Nev., and Lou Fey, Edgewood, Texas; four brothers, Ted Kaler, Williston, N.D., Bob Kaler, Wagoner, Jack Kaler, Dublin, Calif., and Sam Kaler, Escalo, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Bearers will be members of the military. Honorary bearers are Dr. Floyd Sellars, Dr. Nick Musso, Jim Moore, Jim Richardson and Perry Ramsey.
Services are under the direction of Milburn Funeral Home, Ratliff City.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Trussie Lee Ligon, 70, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chester Figures officiating. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery.
Born Dec. 4, 1927, at Tishomingo to Overton and Roberta Love Thompson, she died April 16, 1998, at Ardmore. She was preceded in death by a brother, Vester Thompson and one sister, Pearl King.
Mrs. Ligon lived in Ardmore for 40 years. She married L.D. Ligon in 1950 at Ardmore. She was a housewife, mother and a member of the Victory Temple Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Beverly Ligon, Ardmore, and Ethel Lee Robinson, Chicago; four brothers, Lester Thompson, Tishomingo; Cleo Thompson, Atlanta, Frankie Lee Thompson, Los Angeles, and Michael Thompson, Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Rosie Horton, Ardmore; and five grandchildren.
Bearers are Billie Gunter, Claudine Williams, William Gunter, Ernest Brown, Ruvell Stevenson and Lovis Turner.
