MADILL -- Graveside rites for LaTrelle Lollis Lambert, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodberry-Forest Cemetery with Wendyl Glenn officiating.
Mrs. Lambert died May 9, 1998, in the Okemah hospital. She was born March 11, 1934, at Kingston.
She was reared at Madill and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda K. Potts Smith in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Joe Frank, Thomasville, N.C.; brothers and sisters, A.J. Lollis, Harrah, Helen Dickerson, Willis, Letha Purser and Peggy Copeland, Ardmore; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 tonight at Watts Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Services for Hazel Reed Lemmons are pending from Alexander Funeral Home. Mrs. Lemmons died May 11, 1998, at her home.
Among her survivors are her husband, Roscoe, of the home; two daughters, Doris Teague Blanket, Texas, and Marcell Harrison, Marietta; and three grandchildren.
Graveside rites for Velma Marian Proux, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ivy Henson officiating.
Born to Andy and Mary Wise Huggins Oct. 6, 1903, in Madison, Kan., Mrs. Proux died May 9, 1998, in the local hospital.
She and R.H. Proux were married July 24, 1927, in Ardmore. He preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1993. A resident of Ardmore since 1927, moving here from El Reno, she was a registered nurse formerly employed by Hardy Sanitarium and Von Keller Hospital. She was a member of Oklahoma Nurses Association and Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
NASH -- Services for Robert "Bob" Sipe, 63, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Nash.
Sipe died May 10, 1998, in the Enid hospital. He was born Sept. 1, 1934, in McPherson, Kan. He was employed by the Farmers Co-Op Elevator Association 27 years. He and Joyce Latham were married Dec. 25, 1955, in Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Gary, Wakita, Jim, Hash, Rick and Dennis, Kingfisher; three sisters; and 10 grandchildren.
Sanders Funeral Home, Kingfisher, will direct services.
GREENVILLE -- Graveside rites for Myrtle N. Bailey, 63, were at 10:30 a.m. today at Greenville Cemetery with Chance Fine officiating.
Mrs. Bailey died May 9, 1998, at her residence in Marietta. She was born Oct. 26, 1934, at Quanah, Texas, to H.E. and Delma L. Dailey Williams.
She had lived in Love County the past 26 years and was formerly employed by Marietta Sportswear 10 years. She and Cecil F. Bailey were married in Norman in 1969. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1988. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, David Fine, Meeker, and Ronnie Ballard, Marietta; her father, H.E. Williams, Marietta; two brothers, John and James Williams, Woodbine, Texas; three sisters, Vivian Cummings, Winston-Salem, N.C., Larue Beal, Gainesville, Texas, and Rebecca Kittrell, Montague, Texas; four grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Kennedy Funeral Home directed services.
MARIETTA -- Graveside rites for Bernice Baker, 92, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery with Ray Hilliard officiating.
Mrs. Baker died May 10, 1998, in a local health care facility. She was born Jan. 9, 1906, in Love County Indian Territory, to W.J. and Jo Diffle Arbuckle.
She had lived in Love County most of her life and attended the Church of Christ. She and Dale Baker were married May 27, 1939. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by nephews and nieces, among them, Sam and Mary Hays, Oklahoma City.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
MANNSVILLE -- Services for Billie Jean Chaffin, 69, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church with Burney Cope and Milton Murphy officiating. Interment was at Mannsville Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chaffin died May 9, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1929, at Mannsville, to William F. and Sybil L. Bell James.
She was a former secretary for Ranger Plant Construction Company and a member of Mannsville United Methodist Church. She and Melvin Chaffin were married May 6, 1970, at Gainesville, Texas. She had been a resident of Sulphur since 1970.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Ronald Greene, Bethany; two daughters, Carol Wilkins, Ardmore, and Stacey Rochelle, Sulphur; two stepsons, Scott and Keith Chaffin; and stepdaughter, Janet Gray, all of Springfield, Mo.; four brothers, W.F. "Dub" James, Morrison, William, Dennis and Ricky James, Mannsville;
a sister, Betty Copeland, Mannsville; 10 grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Greene.
Bearers were Zack Crane, Russell Watson, Dewayne Brown, Todd Crumb, Kevin Dale, Jessie, Matt and Jeff James. Honorary bearers were Stephen Chaffin, Jamie, Blake, Joe and Jerry James.
Watts Funeral Home will direct services.
MARIETTA -- Services for Don A. Washburn, 88, Burneyville, are pending from Kennedy Funeral Home. He died today in the local hospital.
Survivors include his wife Eva, of the home; a son, Don, Grapevine, Texas; and two daughters, Lana Lape, Burneyville, and Lynn Grape, Azel, Texas.
SULPHUR -- Services for Grady Bryan Ross, 83, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Born Nov. 2, 1914, at Palmer to Tom and Dosha Hearne Ross, he died May 23, 1998, at Sulphur. He was preceded in death by three brothers, seven sisters and a grandchild.
He married Clarene Sartain June 22, 1940, at Sulphur. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army. Ross lived in Sulphur all of his life. He was an independent contractor. Ross was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Larry Ross and Phillip Ross, both Ardmore; one brother, George Ross, Sulphur and five grandchildren.
Bearers are Joe McDaniels, Harold Flowers, Bud Cozad, Bill Parsons, Junior Clary and Jackie Mahan. Honorary bearers are Marion Splawn, Horase Woody Wood and Charlie Phelps.
Services are under the direction of Crowley-Krien Funeral Home.
KEENE, TEXAS -- Services for Ruth Esther Spurgeon, 98, will be at 2 p.m. today at Schneider Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Keene Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born May 30, 1899, at Lone Grove to Jasper Newton and Margaret Rozine Ewing Cummings, she died May 21, 1998, at a local health care facility.
Survivors include three sons, Theodore J. Spurgeon, Ardmore, Victor O. Spurgeon, Frisco, Texas, and Botie B. Spurgeon, Irving, Texas; three daughters, Georgia S. Carpenter, Fort Worth, Texas, Ester Bernice Neighbors, Keene, and Margariette J. Fox, Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Madeline Cheney, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Pearl Hoffner, Spencer; 22 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Dan Carpenter, Ted Carpenter, Mike Spurgeon, Randy Neighbors, Terry Spurgeon, Rich Neighbors and George Spurgeon.
Services are under the direction of Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, Cleburne, Texas.
MARIETTA -- Services for Ollie Mae Sharp, 93, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Simon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Born Sept. 26, 1904, at Lockesburg, Ark., to Hugh Boss and Susan Annie Galloway Anderson, she died May 22, 1998, at the Marietta hospital. She married Norris C. Sharp on June 9, 1926, at Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death July 19, 1964. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Ruth Sharp, 1935; and by six brothers.
Mrs. Sharp lived in Love County since 1922. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe E. and Betty Sharp, Albion, Neb., and Bob Sharp, Marietta; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Vanona Sue and Richard Birdsall, Kerrville, Texas, Geneva and John Moore, Whitesboro, Texas, Mary and Marshall Vinson, Enville, and Wilberta Robbins, Fruita, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Services for Vernon J. Tucker, 82, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow at Bomar Point Cemetery.
Born Oct. 11, 1915, at Dixie to Fredric L. and Scott Robbie Morris Tucker, he died May 21, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. He married Mary Pauline Cumbie on Feb. 20, 1938, at Ringling. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1981. On May 17, 1982 he married Luella Carlisle Shockley. He was also preceded in death by his only sister, Bonnie Jean Patterson on May 10, 1998.
Tucker was reared at Loco and Dundee. He moved to Wilson in November 1946, where he owned and operated Beird-Tucker Drilling Company for 25 years. He retired in 1980. Tucker was active in city government, beginning as a city council member in 1968. He remained a council member until 1981, when he became mayor. Tucker served Wilson as mayor until 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Freeman, Mobile, Ala., and Betty Wright, Ardmore; one son, Charles Tucker, Shreveport. La.; seven grandchildren, Jahnell Tuell, Preston Tucker, John T. Curtis, Brent Morris, Shelly Henrichson, Amanda Tucker and Matthew Tucker; and nine great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Leon Emerson, Gary Claxton, Randall Brimlee, Jesse Vansill, Bob Brown and Lawrence Forsythe.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
RINGLING -- Graveside rites for Lois Mitchell Burleson, 70, will be 4 p.m. today at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Brother Jimmy Taylor officiating.
Born Feb. 13, 1928, at Ringling to Bert and Florence Jones Thatcher, she died May 22, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Mitchell, 1987.
Mrs. Burleson lived in Ringling most of her life. She worked for Stromberg-Carlson in Ardmore and attended the Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include three sons, H.L. Mitchell, Wilson, Jerry Mitchell and Ronnie Mitchell, both Ringling; one daughter, Mary Lois Gregg, Maysville; one brother, Loyd Thatcher, Ringling, 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons, Randy Hunt, Jamie Hunt, Randy Mitchell, Jody Mitchell, Steven Mitchell, Kelly Mitchell and Gary Don Mitchell.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
LOCO -- Services for Alline M. Vanderburg, 59, will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Gore officiating. Interment will follow at Loco Cemetery.
Born Sept. 14, 1938, at Jefferson to Clyde and Virgie Bridges Kirkland, she died May 21, 1998, at an Oklahoma City hospital after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger.
Reared at Gracemont, she moved to Milo before marrying Aubrey Vanderburg on June 19, 1956, at Ardmore. They lived at Healdton, before moving to Loco in 1968. Mrs. Vanderburg was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter, Nelta Darlene Griffith, Loco; four sons, Aubrey M. Vanderburg Jr., Sulphur, Alvin Ray Vanderburg, Roff, Samuel E. Vanderburg, Duncan and Gary Don Vanderburg, Loco; her father, Pocasset; two sisters, Mae Christian, Healdton, and Dorthy Wells, Pocasset; five brothers, Virgil Kirkland, Maysville, Floyd Kirkland, Minco, Lloyd Kirkland, Pruitt City, Jerry Kirkland, Elmore City, and James Kirkland, Pocasset; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Bearers are Bryan Kirkland, Mark Griffith, Daniel Skeen, David Van Buskirk, Don Lewis, Gary Don Vanderburg and Mike Lewis.
