RINGLING -- Services for Cheyenne Nicole Madewell, 4, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Ronald Medford and J.W. Ray officiating. Interment will be at Orr Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Cheyenne was born Aug. 8, 1993, at Fort Worth, Texas. She died July 12, 1998, in Oklahoma City following an accident at Lake Texoma.
She lived the first years of her life in the Ringling-Healdton area and attended Headstart at Zaneis.
She is survived by her parents, Lorie and Roger Patton and brother, Robert Patton, all of the home in Dickson; grandparents, David and Nova Childers, Caddo, Haskell and Linda Patton, Healdton, Charles and Vicky Madewell and Cole and Shirley Camplain, Ringling; great-grandparents, Oma and Frank Hatter, Madill, Kathleen Urich, Artesia, N.M., and Burnadean Patton, Springer.
Bearers will be Clint Smith, Papa David Childers, Jody and Randy Mitchell. Honorary bearers are Papa Cole Camplain, Papa Haskell Patton and Papa Charles Madewell.
Services for Wallace Antwine, 50, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Wright officiating. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
Antwine died suddenly July 9, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. He was born May 16, 1948, to Willis C. and Barbara Antwine.
He attended school in Ardmore and at Gene Autry and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Bell, Springer; two sons, Phillip, Oklahoma City, and Dante, New York; two daughters, Karen and Ericke, Oklahoma City; his mother, Barbara Antwine, Ardmore; two stepsons, Kenith and Kent, Milo; four brothers, Donald Ray and Kenneth, Oklahoma City, Michael and Victor, Ardmore. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Willis.
Services for Martha Belle McCuen will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.
Born Jan. 4, 1922, at Clarksburg, W.V., to Homer L. and Bessie E. Southern Lindsay, Mrs. McCuen died July 13, 1998, in the local hospital.
She married William S. McCuen in Chickasha. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1976.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Brady, Ardmore, Suann Sinclair, Santa Fe, N.M., and Sharon Stewart, Grove; a sister, Evelyn Clark, Norman; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by a sister, Helen Williams in 1996.
Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Betty Jo Eason Peden, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Pettyjohn officiating. Interment will be at Troy Cemetery, Troy.
Mrs. Peden died July 12, 1998, in Durant. She was born Aug. 9, 1928, at Anadarko, to Sidney P. and Addie M. Deer Eason.
A resident of Johnston County for many years, she attended school at Ravia and Troy and married B.T. Peden March 3, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas. She worked as a nurse 12 years and was a member of the Ravia Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Gary J., Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter, Beverly A. Durham, Houston; brother, Clifford Eason, Dallas; sister, Lillie Hallmark, Borgerville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sidney and Bob Eason; and three sisters, Darlese Futch, Ruby Gibbs and Addie Hallmark.
WILSON -- Services for Gladys Myrtle Buck, 91, lifelong Wilson area resident, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Elmore and Larry Dumas officiating. Interment will be at Reck Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buck died July 13, 1998, in Ardmore. She was born Feb. 9, 1907, at Reck, Indian Territory, to Jesse Bean and Quinnie May Simmons Dumas.
Reared at Reck, she graduated from Zaneis High School, received her degree in education from Southeastern State College, and did postgraduate work at the University of Oklahoma. She taught in many area schools, among them Zaneis, Rexroat, Ringling, Beams and Union Hill.
She and Bill Bruton were married Aug. 3, 1942. He preceded her in death May 18, 1962. She and Raymond F. Buck were married Aug. 24, 1965. He preceded her in death April 9, 1989. She was also preceded by a brother, Elbert Hiram Dumas.
She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and member of Eastern Star Chapter 369.
She is survived by a son, Jack Hugh Colson of Lexington, Okla.; five stepdaughters, Verna O'Neal of Nocona, Texas, Linda Williams of Wilson, Bettie Brinkerhoff of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Adams and Anna Hickman, also of Nocona; four stepsons, Harold Buck of Grand Prairie, Texas, Glen Buck of Wilson, Don Buck of Ardmore, and Dale Buck of Lone Grove; sister-in-law, Myrtle Dumas Davis of Wilson; two nieces, Marjorie Riggs of Gardenville, Nev., and Marcia L. Benson of Reno, Nev.; two nephews, Larry N. Dumas of Pasadena, Calif., and Elbert D. Dumas of Lake Wood, Colo.; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bearers will be Jerry O'Neal, Gary O'Neal, Ronnie Buck, Kevin Buck, Alan Buck, Coly Buck, Larry Don Buck, Wyatt Williams and Lany Buck.
MARIETTA -- Ruby V. Burns, 89, died July 12, 1998, in a local health care facility. No public services will be conducted.
Born Oct. 13, 1908, at Austin, Ark., to David V. and Eula A. Haynie Haymes, she moved to the Marietta area five years ago from Long Beach, Calif., where she was a department store manager before she retired. She married Thomas E. Burns in 1927. He died Jan. 2, 1978. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Rubush, Lancaster, Calif., and Mae Colvert, Muleshoe, Texas; and a nephew, whom she reared, Douglas Jennings, Bullhead City, Ariz.
Kennedy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
CORDELL -- Services for former Marietta resident Sylvia Lenora Brown Lain were Monday in Cordell under the direction of Loftiss Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lain was born April 20, 1916, at Dill City, to Ernest and May Brown. She moved to Marietta in 1960 and returned to Cordell in 1992.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, of the home; four sons, Forrest, Garland, Texas, Gerald, Gunnison, Colo., Charles and Royce, Marietta; a brother, Lee Brown, Cordell; a sister, Veda Jacobs, Marietta; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services for Leon Simon Anderson, 65, are pending from Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home. He died July 14, 1998, at his home in Woodford.
He is survived by a brother, Robert, Ardmore; and two sisters, Vivian Howard, Gene Autry, and Hildred Benson, Ardmore.
SIMON -- Graveside rites for Gladys G. Henry, 75, Enid, will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Simon Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henry died July 13, 1998, in an Enid health care facility. She was born Sept. 10 1922, at Simon, to Will and Carrie Grisham Whisenhunt.
Reared in the Simon-Wilson area, she moved to Enid in 1965 from California and was formerly employed by Holiday Inn and Enid Linen Service. She and Albert Henry were married Dec. 3, 1974.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Mary S. Pemberton, Ringling; a son, Jimmy Wagner, Enid; a sister, Jewel Page, Corpus Christi, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services for Harry H. Foster, Lone Grove, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Burney Cope officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Foster died July 14, 1998, in the local hospital. He was born May 5, 1927, at Mannsville, to Dewey and Julia Foster.
An Army veteran of World War II, he worked as a funeral director until 1958 when he moved to California and worked for A.C. Transit Co. until he retired. He moved to Lone Grove in 1985. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife Marie, of the home; a son, Steven, Lone Grove; brothers, Stanley, Lone Grove, Dean, Charles and John, Mannsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Carl Hampton, George Harkey, Rocky Shockley, Gov. Overton James, Steven and Todd Warren, Phillip Foster and P.D. Pratt.
WILSON -- Services for Dianne Phelps Johnson, 45, Yukon, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Healdton.
Mrs. Johnson died July 13 1998, at her home following a sudden illness. She was born March 8, 1953, in Ardmore.
She graduated from Healdton High School and received a degree in cosmetology from Cook County College and had worked in that field. She live in Ringling 17 years before moving to Yukon in 1988. She and Anthony Edward Johnson were married March 19, 1993, at Branson, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Scott Phelps, Ringling, and Michael Phelps, Mannsville; two daughters, Shawna Thorne, Lawton, and Summer Phelps, Ringling; her parents, Marlin and JoAnn Holder, Healdton; a brother, Jerry Holder, Healdton; two sisters, Marla Stewart, Healdton, and Debbie Wright, Ardmore; her great-grandfather, E.W. Holder, Oklahoma City; and six grandchildren.
Bearers will be Tommy Phelps, Jerry Thorne, Jason Wright, David Stewart, Mickey Bulla and Josh Holder.
Reser Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Beatrice Tankersley will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with Doug Faulkner officiating. Interment will be at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Tankersley died July 15, 1998, in a local health care facility. She was born April 18, 1913, at McMillan, to John and Nora Pickering Bridgman.
A lifelong resident of the Ardmore area, she was a member of Cheek Baptist Church and had been a butcher for Jay Norman Meat Processing Co.
She is survived by three sons, Alvin, Ben Wheeler, Texas, Herman and Lester Jr, Ardmore; four daughters, Elsia Larson, Mission, S.D., Inez Fuller, Irene Bridgman and Lynn Hamilton, Ardmore; a brother, Lano Bridgman, Ardmore; three sisters, Edith Mitchell, Whitesboro, Texas, Terry McClain, Ardmore, and Dorothy Wilson, Thackerville; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Tankersley Sr.; a son, Richard Price; six brothers, Joe, Helson, Icle, Deb's, Herbert and Edgar Bridgman; and two sisters, Johnnie White and Gladys Bridgman.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
MARIETTA -- Services for Susie Fox, 63, are pending from Kennedy Funeral Home. Mrs. Fox died July 16, 1998, at the Denton, Texas, hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; and two sons, Jerry and Tommy, Marietta.
WOODFORD -- Services for Simon Leon Anderson, 65, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Woodford with the Revs. Elmer Toles Jr. and Roy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Cemetery under the direction of Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home, Ardmore.
Anderson died July 14, 1998, at his home. He was born July 14, 1933, at Woodford, to Doc S. and Marie Roberts Anderson.
A 1951 graduate of Douglass High School, he attended Langston University and Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. He moved to Los Angeles, Calif., and worked as a Postal Service clerk and was featured in the movies "Tarzan, Ape Man" and "Watoosie." He also played guitar with the Wayne Bennett band.
Survivors include a brother, Robert, Ardmore; three sisters, Ledonia Pickens, Milo, Vivian Howard, Gene Autry, and Hildred Benson, Ardmore. He was preceded in death by a sister, L.G. Jackson, on Aug. 15, 1992.
Bearers will be at R.V. and Gilbert Anderson, Lindsey and Eddie Abram, Ricky and Van Howard, Clarence Benson and Ronald Johnson.
Viewing at the funeral home Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Services for Hazel Moore will be 11 a.m. Monday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin and the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born April 4, 1916, at Lone Grove, she died July 17, 1998, at a local hospital. She first married Alvie Ellis in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1970. She then married Dorn Moore in 1991.
Mrs. Moore lived in the Ardmore area all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the S.A.L. Club.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, Mike Ellis, Ardmore; one daughter, Donna Lynn Muldrew, Austin; and five grandchildren.
Bearers are Grant and Bill Owen, Jack Smith, John DeHart, Derril McGuire and Frank Thomas.
