TISHOMINGO -- Services for Arthur Lawrence Maguire, 86, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lisa Crone officiating. Interment will be at St. Joe, Texas.
Born May 4, 1912, at Hollister Hiram William Hugh and Cora Annie Hodges Maguire, he died Aug. 28, 1998, at Ardmore. He married Thelma "Sammie" Moore on Dec. 21, 1947. She preceded in him death. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Eunice Sarilda Enright; and one brother, Zeno Maguire.
Maguire was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy in China and Japan. Following his military service he worked at a chemical and medicinal drug manufacturing company in Fort Worth, Texas and for the United States Postal Service.
In 1956 he and his wife moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., where he the livestock and dairy business, until joining the Soil Conservation and Corps of Engineers as a surveyor. He barbered in Anchorage, Alaska, for nine years and in 1974 retired, moving to Tishomingo.
After retirement he was a volunteer park ranger and a volunteer at Johnston County Memorial Hospital. Maguire was also a member of the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge and First United Methodist Church.
He and his wife had established a day care center and a scholarship fund at Murray State College.
Survivors include a foster son, Wayne Watson, Prairie Grove; one brother, W.H. "Bill" Rogers, Fort Worth, and several nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Charlie Locke, Ron Roberts, Gary Wyatt, Paul Thomas, Randy Hall and Earnest Jemison.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Arthur Maguire Scholarship Fund-Murray State College.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Services for Gladys Aribell Lindsey, 93, will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the River of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Kenny McMath officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.
Born Feb. 5, 1905, at Banty, Indian Territory to Robert Lee and Tassie Hollman Gardner, she died Aug. 28, 1998, at an Ada hospital. She married Russell Albert "R.A." Lindsey on Oct. 31, 1922, at Bochito. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1949. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brady Lee; and two sisters, Myrtis Waldrum and Bessie Mae Rambo.
Mrs. Lindsey was raised at Banty and attended school at Banty and Bokchito. She moved to Wilson with her husband in 1924. She began working at Dude's Diner and then owned and operated The Country Kitchen at the Healdton-Wilson Y for many years. She then embarked on a new career in the health care industry, retiring a few years ago. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 55 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mariquinn Cole, Wilson, and Joyce Cooper, Fort Worth, Texas; four sons, R.A. Lindsey Jr., Wilson, Deryal and Bill Lindsey, both Fort Worth; and Dwain Lindsey, Kingston; two sisters, Margette Blackwell, Oklahoma City, and Virginia Percell, Bennington; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
HEALDTON -- Services for Clyde Wood, 84, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Born Oct. 6, 1913, at Healdton to William Miles and Lou Mandy Harkins Wood, he died Aug. 28, 1998, at an Ardmore hospital.
Wood started school at Healdton and graduated from Lone Grove. He played independent softball for a number of years after graduating from high school and was an avid golfer. Wood married Truey Roach on May 11, 1935, at Lone Grove. He worked for Shell Pipeline for 34 years, retiring in 1976.
He was named Healdton Bulldogs Fan of the Year in 1995-96. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Adult 4 Men's Sunday School Class, Oil Field Recreation Association, Band Booster Club, and was past president of the Healdton Quarterback Club.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four children; Peggy Norwood and Patty Kelly, both Healdton; Jerry Wood, Grandbury, Texas, and Terry Wood, Spring, Texas; one sister, Hollie Teague, Healdton; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Kerry Turner, Mike Norwood, Raymond Crumley, Paul Hughes, Tres Burke, Mark Blakemore and Terry Smallwood. Honorary bearers are Mays McCreight and Adult 4 Men's Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Kitchen Fund.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
SULPHUR -- Services for Lota Mamie Tyler, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Edward Rowls and Lois Blanka officiating. Interment wil be at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis.
Mrs. Tyler died Aug. 30, 1998, in Tishomingo. She was born June 13 1912, at Byars, to Thomas J. and Sarah L. Freeman Wood.
She was the widow of Charlie Tyler, who died Aug. 15, 1967, and had lived in this area all her life, moving to Sulphur from Davis in 1947. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church and active in the Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha McCormick, Tishomingo; a son, Gene Poteet, Tulsa; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister; and two brothers.
Bearers will be Boyd Pittman, Johnnie, Louis, Rickie, Elmer and Jerrey Daniels. Honorary bearers are Paul Gray, Sable Harden, J.W. "Dub" West, Milton White, Wayne Danley and Kenneth Orr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Clagg Funeral Home.
OAKLAND -- Graveside rites for William Hewitt Brown, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oakland Cemetery with Curtis Hallmark and Keith Vanderbosch officiating.
Brown died in Denison, Texas. He was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Oakland.
Reared in Oakland, he served in the Army during World War II and Korean conflict and was a retired commercial realtor. He was a member of Oakland Church of Christ. He and Jimmie McGill were married July 8, 1995, in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Stephen, Houston; stepson, Brad Barber, Clear Lake, Iowa; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Watts Funeral Home will direct services.
RINGLING -- Graveside rites for Ernest A. Pruitt were scheduled at 11 a.m. today at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Pruitt died Aug. 29, 1998, in Ardmore. He was born Dec. 4, 1945, at Glove, Ariz. to Kermit and Florence Lizott Pruitt.
He had lived in California most of his life before moving to Ringling two years ago.
Survivors include his father, Kermit Pruitt; and brother, Henry, Ringling; and sister, Opal Evans, Duncan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Jr.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
BLACKWELL -- Graveside rites for Charles "Chuck" Honeycutt, 54, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blackwell Cemetery, Blackwell.
Honeycutt died Aug. 28, 1998 in Ardmore. He was born May 14, 1944, at Porum, to Troy T. and Lettie L. Zachary Honeycutt.
He served with the Army in Vietnam and moved to Ardmore 12 years ago from Ponca City. He owned and operated a restaurant in Lone Grove and Mannsville. He was a member of DAV, American Legion and VFW Post 2855.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hightower, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Kay, of the home; a stepdaughter, Cristy G. Young, Ardmore; a son, James D., Louisville, Ky.; stepson, Ronnie Hightower, Ardmore; three sisters, Barbara Sawyers, Ponca City, Patrica Young and Dorothy Curtis, Blackwell; two brothers, Ronnie Zachary, Barnsdahl, and Kenneth Honeycutt, Birmingham, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Karley Ann Sharp, infant daughter of Dustin Wade and Paula Raye Hearrell Sharp, were scheduled today at 10 a.m. at Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joey Lansdale officiating. Interment was at Moore Cemetery.
Karley died Aug. 28, 1998, in Oklahoma City where she was born July 12, 1998.
In addition to her parents, survivors are a twin sister, Kami Dawn; and brother, Triston Wade, of the home; and grandparents, Gerald and Linda Sharp, Gonzales, La., Denise and Alan Bakken, Tupelo, and Paul and Mable Hearrell, Tishomingo.
Services for Carolyn Zumwalt, 82, are pending from Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. She died Aug. 30, 1998, in Oklahoma City.
She is survived by a son, Richard Jr.; and daughter, Julie Imel, Oklahoma City.
Graveside rites for Dwight Firquain, 37, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Rick Denham and Don Ray Thomason officiating.
Firquain died Aug. 28, 1998, at his residence. He was born Oct. 18, 1960, in Ardmore, to Kenneth and Donna Firquain.
He served in the Navy and was employed by Lumberman's Mill and Sunshine Industries.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Gayle Firquain; his mother, Donna Firquain; and brother, Anthony, all of Ardmore; and grandmothers, Lillian Evans, Tishomingo, and Carrie West, Sayre.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Ellen Joyce Olive, 51, Glendale, Ariz., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Edward Rowls and Lois Blanka officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis.
Mrs. Olive died Aug. 29, 1998, in Miami. She was born March 22, 1947, at Wynnewood, to J.T. and Loretta Hook Barnes.
Reared in Sulphur, she married Ronald Olive and was a realtor-broker, living in several areas before moving to Glendale, Ariz.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Howe, Glendale; a son, Charles Dove, Glendale; her mother, Loretta Barnes, Sulphur; sister, Mary Mechler, Marietta; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dalinda Dove; her father; and brother, John Barnes.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Clagg Funeral Home.
KINGSTON -- Services for Stella Leona Savage, 81, will be at 2 p.m. today at Watts Kingston Chapel with David Boutwell officiating. Interment will be at Shay Cemetery.
Mrs. Savage died Aug. 31, 1998, in the Tishomingo hospital. She was born June 30, 1917, at Aly, Ark.
She moved to Marshall County in 1919 and was most recently employed as coordinator at the Kingston Senior Citizens Center. Her faith was Assembly of God.
Survivors include two sons, Bob, Tishomingo, and Bill, Kingston; two daughters, Patsy McAlister, Kingston, and Rita Arterburn, Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Odell and Donald Thompson, J.R. Page, Loyd Reese, Cecil Miller and Ronnie Byrd.
MANNSVILLE -- Services for Ettie Bearl Green, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mannsville First Baptist Church with Ken McCarthick officiating. Interment will be at Lone Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Green died Aug. 30, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born April 20, 1911, at Fillmore.
Reared at Dougherty and Baum, she married Henry M. Green Feb. 18, 1928, in Ardmore, and had lived in Mannsville 64 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 31, 1984; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include three daughters, Cora Elston, Porterville, Calif., Lavern Chaffin, Ardmore, and Virginia Shull, Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Burk Morphew, Duane Collins, Joseph Jones, Jose and Joey Aguilar, Phil LaQuey, Scott Stoker and Eric Johannessen.
