Services for Carolyn Jane Wrobbel Zumwalt will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Carolyn died Aug. 30, 1998, at her daughter's home in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 10, 1915, to Julius and Ethel Wrobbel on the family farm near Kingfisher.
She graduated from Kingfisher High School, attended Oberlin College then Oklahoma A&M, graduating in 1937 with a degree in music education. After teaching a year each in Okemah and Ringling, she settled in Ardmore in 1939 and taught for Ardmore Public Schools. She also taught piano in her home while her children were young.
She met Richard Caddell "Dick" Zumwalt in the church choir and they married Dec. 28, 1940. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before his death Jan. 11, 1991.
She loved to play Bridge and Mahjongg and enjoyed her yard, her church and her many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Trigg of Oklahoma City; and a brother, Raymond Wrobbel of Kingfisher.
Survivors are her son, Richard Caddell Zumwalt Jr.; her daughter, Julie Ann Imel; and her grandsons, Zachary and Wesley Imel and Jeffrey and John Zumwalt, all of Oklahoma City; a brother, Dale Wrobbel, and sister-in-law, Virginia Wrobbel, both of Kingfisher; a brother-in-law, John Trigg of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews, including a special and attentive nephew, Scott Henley, and his family of Edmond.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the kindness shown to Carolyn by the staff of Forrest Glade Retirement Center and Good Shepard Hospice.
Carolyn loved all babies and children. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Infant Crisis Services Inc., 1933 NW 39th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
Pallbearers are her four grandsons, Barton Adair and Jerry Alton. Honorary pallbearers are the Chester Dennis Sunday school class.
SULPHUR -- Services for Larry Gene Norton, 47, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sulphur First Baptist Church with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Norton died Aug. 31, 1998, in Tishomingo. He was born Sept. 19, 1950, in Sulphur, to Fred and Audrey E. McCartney Norton.
A Vietnam veteran, he married Kathy Ellis Aug. 31, 1996, at Reagan, and was employed by the fish and wildlife hatchery. He was a member of Assembly of God Church and had lived in Tishomingo 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two stepdaughters, April Blunt, Kerrville, Texas, and Misty Brannen, Silo; two stepsons, Christopher Blunt, Ravia, and Joshua Blunt, Tishomingo; his father, Fred Norton, Sulphur; three brothers, Walter, Tecumseh, Steve and Fred Jr., Sulphur; and three stepgrandchildren.
Bearers will be Carl Waddle, Allen McKay, Steve Underwood, Mike Green, Charlie and Preston Norton. Honorary are Jimmy T. Norton and Jack Stanford.
SULPHUR -- Services for Ovader Truitt, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cowley-Krien Chapel with the Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Truitt died Sept. 1, 1998, in a local health care facility. She was born April 6, 1921, at Pleasant Hill, La., to Ben and Minnie Grappe.
Reared in Louisiana, she married James R. Truitt in Sulphur in 1945, moved to Dallas, and returned to Sulphur in 1963. She was a nurse at the veterans center. Her husband preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Billy F. Lance, David Pyle, Bobby and Rocky Arms, Richard and J.C. Chadwick.
MODESTO, Calif. -- Services for Overbrook native George Lee Webb, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Modesto, Calif.
Webb was born Sept. 30, 1913, at Overbrook. He died Aug. 31, 1998.
He lived in the Overbrook area until 1942 and was a retired cardroom operator.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home; nine children, Lee, Stanley, Jimmy, Billy and Rollie, Esther Converse and Peggy Stevens, all of Modesto, Samantha Ramsey and Mable Hodges, Ceres, Calif.; two brothers, Billy, Ardmore, and Jim, Texas; sisters, Tressie Butler and Lema Sorrels, Ardmore, Mable Gregg, Oklahoma City, Billie Vartanian, Modesto, and Dowlene Lang, Lone Grove; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Eaton Funeral and Cremation Service will direct services.
COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Services for Lois Briley, 85, were Friday in Colorado City, Texas.
Briley died Aug. 22, 1998. He was born Oct. 4, 1913, in DeKalb, Texas.
He married Doris Owens Dawkins June 11, 1983, in Ardmore. She died Oct. 19, 1984.
He is survived by a son, Lois Jr., Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Haynes, Colorado City; five stepdaughters, Priscilla Dawkins, Oklahoma City, Judy Sanders and Alice Jackson, Denton, Texas, Jeanette Forbes and Brenda Roberts, Ardmore; a stepson, Johnnie Dawkins, Ardmore; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were directed by Kike Funeral Home.
DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Virginia Lee Hutchins will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Hill Cemetery with the Revs. Randy Chapman and John Joughin officiating.
Mrs. Hutchins died Sept. 2, 1998, in the Norman hospital. She was born May 23, 1913, at Monticello, Ark., to John and Harriett Whittington Barrow.
She married George R. Hutchins Nov. 14, 1942, at Sulphur, and moved to Davis in 1982 from Bristow. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1995.
She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Latham, Valencia, Calif.
Fox Funeral Home will direct services.
GARLAND, Texas -- Services for Ardmore native Edward "Edd" Howell will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas.
Howell died Sept. 3, 1998, in Rowlett, Texas. He was born March 14, 1925, in Ardmore.
He was a paint contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; three sons, William, The Woodlands, Texas, Bobby, Garland, and James, Wylie, Texas; a daughter, Sherry Boyd, Duncanville, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Graveside rites for former Ardmore resident Mildred Irene David, 83, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating.
The daughter of the late Lewis and Nellie Parson Perdue, she was born Aug. 6, 1915, at Oak Grove, Mo., and passed away Sept. 4, 1998, at Jackson, Tenn., following an extended illness. She married Harry Thomas David on Oct. 4, 1943, at Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Johnson, and a brother, Claud Perdue.
She and her husband moved from Muskogee to Ardmore in 1946. They owned and operated an air conditioning business for many years. They were members of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Patty and Stan Middleton, Ardmore, and Donna and Winford Curry, Jackson, Tenn.; two sisters, Amanda Sims, Marshall, Mo., and Winifred Strahan, Blue Springs, Mo.; one grandson, Wade Middleton, San Antonio; and a great-grandson, Logan Middleton, San Antonio.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Born April 11, 1922, at Holdenville to Shannon and Orpha Havens, she died Sept. 5, 1998, at an Ardmore hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Lucas Brooks, Ardmore; and a son, Ace Lucas, Ardmore.
Services for Claud Milton Darter are pending with Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 2, 1924, at Wapanucka to Ray and Ella Darter, he died Sept. 5, 1998, at a local hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the home; three sons, Stanley and Timothy Darter, both Ardmore, and Claud A. Darter, Stockton, Calif.; one stepson, Calvin Landreth, Clovis, Calif.; one daughter, Donna Shafer, Stockton; two sisters, Marie Davis, Moore, and Mary Hayes, Ardmore; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
HEALDTON -- Services for Lynn Pearson, 25, Oil City, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Fox and Darrel Opper officiating. Interment follows at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Born Dec. 29, 1972, at Shreveport, La., to Ray and Marsha Rozzell Pearson, he died Sept. 5, 1998, at an Ardmore hospital from injuries he suffered in an auto accident.
Pearson moved with his family to Healdton at the age of 5. He attended Healdton schools for 13 years, graduating in 1992. He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1997. Pearson worked for Smith Construction and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, of the home; one sister, Tracey Hixson, Norman; and his grandparents, Mildred Pearson, Healdton, and Harold and Hazel Pearson, Oil City.
Bearers are Drew Polk, Todd Denney, Jeffrey Brown, Sean Chatham, Jason Chatham and Troy Thompson. Honorary bearers are Skeet Chapman, Russell McKee, Stanley Thomas, Larry Covey, Rome Ingle, and his cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Game Warden Association Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1971, Ardmore, OK 73402.

RINGLING -- Services for Lottie L. Heidelberg, 76, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ with Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Born Sept. 21, 1921, at Wilson to William B. and Mary Jane Johnston Caswell, she died Sept. 5, 1998, at Ringling. She married Earnest Heidelberg Sept. 20, 1943, at Dallas. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1968. She was also preceded in death by sisters Wanda Caswell and Alice Woolsey, and three brothers, Vernon, Raymond and W.B. Caswell.
Mrs. Heidelberg grew up in west Texas, moving to Courtney as a youngster. She attended and graduated from Courtney High School. She and her husband lived in Courtney, until 1957 when they moved to Ringling. She operated the City Cafe for a number of years, and then worked for Beshearse Dry Goods Store. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Lula Pierce, Healdton; one son, Jerry Heidelberg, Kent, Wash., two stepsons, Henry Heidelberg, Courtney, and Ernest L. Heidelberg Jr., Fritch, Texas; one sister, Virginia Black, Ardmore; one brother, Eugene Caswell, Pearl, Miss., seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons, Billy, Jerry, Ben, Darrel, and Jimmy Heidelberg and Clif and Todd Pierce.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Family visitation is planned from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday for James Carl Burden Sr. at Craddock Funeral Home. Services will be in Butler County, Ky.
Burden, 75, was born Oct. 15, 1922, to Alva and Lizzie Burden in Livermore, Ky. He died Sunday at the Ardmore hospital.
Jim will always be remembered for his love of traveling, dancing and fishing. He served our country for 20 years in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, serving in Korea after World War II. He was a helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a son, James Carl Burden Jr., Ardmore; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Bush and Wanda Catherine Burden, Vancouver, Wash., and Linda Christopher, Fordville, Ky.; five sisters, Viva Chancellor, Lorraine Nance, Viva Reneer, Jean Clark and Ermil Evans, all of Kentucky, 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a dear friend, Eva Briscoe, Ardmore
