Luther B. 'Buck' Stephens
SULPHUR -- Services for Luther Buchanan "Buck" Stephens, 77, are pending from Cowley-Krien Funeral Home. Stephens died Oct. 7, 1998, in the Madill hospital.

Maxwell D. Harris
Military graveside services for Maxwell David Harris, Lt. Commander, USNR, retired, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Harris died Oct. 3, 1998, after a long illness. Max was born Sept. 20, 1923, at Fort Sheridan, Ill., the son of William H. Harris, Master Sgt. U.S. Army, and Lydia Zutz.
He earned his L.L.B. in 1949 at the University of Oklahoma. Max served in the U.S. Navy, retiring as LCDR. Following military service, he worked in the legal department of Oklahoma City office for HUD and OK Housing Finance Agency.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Ernestine Sies, an Ardmore native.
Guardian North Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, will direct services.

Claude Lee
Services for Claude Lee, Sulphur, are pending from Craddock Funeral Home. He died Oct. 6, 1998, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He is survived by a son, Jerry, Ardmore; and sister, Dovie Griffin, Fort Worth, Texas.

Kathryn L. Dees
MARIETTA -- Graveside rites for Kathryn L. Dees, 87, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. John Sconce officiating.
Mrs. Dees died Oct. 5, 1998, at her residence. She was born Dec. 1, 1901, at Collinsville, Texas, to Jim A. and Mable Murray Williamson.
Married to R.F. Dees July 3, 1946, at Valley View, Texas, she had lived in Love County most of her life and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Pierce, Aug. 19, 1998.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Charles Laney, Edgerton, Mo.; daughter, Verla J. Lamb, Houston; a brother, James Williamson, Ardmore; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.

Donald M. Reaves
DAVIS -- Services for Donald Mason Reaves, 65, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Gene Cormier and Jerry P. Pullen officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Aaron-Krien Funeral Home.
Reaves died Oct. 6, 1998, in Moore. He was born June 20, 1933, in Halifax County, N.C., to William A. and Ethel Jones Reaves.
A resident of Davis since 1967, moving here from Oklahoma City, he was pastor at First Christian Church 10 years and a postal worker in Davis 15 years. He retired in 1987. He and Joan Green were married June 13, 1953, in East Point, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Mark; grandson; brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Don, Norman, and Steven, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Beth Pearson, Moore, and Mary Fulton, Midwest City; two brothers, Richard, Tallmadge, Ohio, and Wiley, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
Bearers will be Jerry P. Pullen, Neal Rose, Boo Broaddrick, Neil Northcutt, Myron Towers and Rod Pucket. Jerry M. Pullen is honorary bearer.

Tommy E. Meredith
Graveside services for Tommy Edmond Meredith are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville.
Born Aug. 24, 1935, in Giles, Texas, to G.C. and Audrey Meredith, Tommy passed away Oct. 8, 1998.
Tommy and Berta Jean Ivy were married Aug. 14, 1954, in Marietta and spent 44 wonderful years together.
A hard-working and patriotic man, he made a distinguished career with the United State Air Force, serving tours in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, retiring Dec. 1, 1974. He continuing his civil service as a U.S. Postal employee for 16 years, retiring in June 1992.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Berta Jean, of the home; his mother-in-law who loved him as a son, Janice Ivy, Marietta; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Randy Frisinger, Fort Worth, Texas, Stacey and Tim Payne, Tulsa, Kara and Gary Willis and Shelly and Lynn Self, all of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Laura Meredith, Germany; three sisters, Caroline and Andy Hallmark-Anderson, Ardmore, Louise and Donnie Evans, Greenville, and Myrna Sue Burch, Ardmore; an honorary sister, Lynn Evans, Greenville.
"Pa", as he was affectionately known, is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Eric, Lisa and Matthew Frisinger; Shay Leighann Payne, Kacie and Sheldon Bone, Krista, Kortnie and Kallie Willis, Sarah, Stephanie, Levisty, Spencer and Tripr Self, Ira and Justin Meredith; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Bone.
"Pa" will always be remembered for his kind eyes, sweet smile and gentle nature.
Services are under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.

William V. Wiist
KEENE, Texas -- Services for former Ardmore resident William Vernon Wiist, 75, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Keene, Texas.
Wiist died Oct. 7, 1998, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1923, near Henrietta, Texas, to Jacob and Elizabeth Wiist.
Reared near Wichita Falls, Texas, he served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was, at the age of 20, the youngest battalion sergeant major in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharge, he graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and became business manager of Seventh-day Adventist Sunnydale Academy in Missouri. He and Arlene Rae Thomas were married May 27, 1951.
He entered overseas mission service with the Inter-American Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and served as an officer in the Dominican Conference and Central American Union. He was ordained a minister in 1959, and in 1964, became administrator of the Ardmore Adventist Hospital, developing it from a 25-bed to 105-bed facility. He next planned, designed and supervised construction and staff at Huguley Memorial Hospital in Fort Worth, and was treasurer of the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventist before he retired.
At the time of his death he had served 14 years as board chairman and president of the Ardmore Institute of Health, parent corporation of the Lifestyle Center of America, near Ardmore, and was on the board at First National Bank, Ardmore, and First State Bank, Keene.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Linda Knutson, Burleson, Texas, and Debbie Speyer, Arlington, Texas; a son, W. Michael, Keene; a sister, Ruth Tammen, Wichita Falls, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church building fund.
Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wallace M. Vaughn
MARIETTA -- Services for Wallace M. Vaughn, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Gardner and Doug Vaughn officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mr. Vaughn passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, in the local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1910, at Loves Valley, to Henry and Margeret J. Dean Vaughn.
A lifetime resident of Love County, he was a farmer, cafe operator and a county employee for 15 years. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He married his first wife, Ewilda Patton in 1927, at Marietta, and his present wife, Augustine Grantham in 1976, at Gainesville, Texas.
Survivors include Ewilda, mother of his four oldest children, Kingston; his wife, Augustine, Marietta; three sons, Don Vaughn, Ames, Jerry Vaughn, Talihina, and Larry Vaughn, Marietta; two daughters, Mrs. O.C. McKibban, Healdton, and Oleta Culwell, Willis; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Vaughn, in 1970.
Bearers will be Steve McKibban, Dennis Vaughn, Randy Vaughn, Brad Culwell, Joel Vaughn and Kevin Vaughn. Honorary bearers are Bob McKibban, Billy Vaughn, Robert Culwell, Brent Vaughn and Eddie Vaughn.

Aubner E. 'Bob' Gniffke
FALCONHEAD -- Memorial services for Aubner E. "Bob" Gniffke, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Falconhead Christian Fellowship Chapel with Dr. Glen Pool officiating.
Gniffke died Oct. 7, 1998, in the Marietta hospital. He was born May 27, 1919, at Cottonwood, Minn., to Gustav D. and Marion Christianson Gniffke.
Married to Dagny Kompelien April 5, 1942, at Cottonwood, he was a retired farmer who moved to Falconhead 20 years ago from Minnesota. He was a Lutheran and member of Falconhead Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Curtis, Austin, Minn.; three daughters, Barbara Selby, Gage, Bonnie Paczkowski, Minneapolis, Minn., and Marion Limbach, Marcell, Minn.; five brothers, Kenneth, Paynesville, Minn., Glenn, Donald, Elton and Loris, Cottonwood, Minn.; a sister, Grace Paradis, Granite Falls, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.

Mary "Marjorie" Lee
ADA -- Memorial services for Mary "Marjorie" Lee, 75, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Asbury Methodist Church followed by a reception for family and friends.
Born Oct. 4, 1922 at Lamont to Henry C. and Nettie Huffman Balzer, she died Oct. 8, 1998 at Ada. She married G.G. Lee on Dec. 11, 1942 at Hayward, Calif. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1985.
A 1942 graduate of Lamont High School, she moved from Hayward to the Union Valley area in 1958. In 1995 she moved to Ada. She was a member of the Fittstown Methodist Church. In the early 1960's she and her husband owned and operated the Hamburger King at Ada, and later owned and operated The Malt Shop at Stonewall. She retired as a grocery clerk from Dutch Robbins Grocery Store at Ada. She was a member of the Mature Fellowship Club and AARP.
Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Northcutt, Norman, Hazel Curby, Blackwell, and Lois Morgan, Tonkawa; and two adopted granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cross Point Camp, HC 70, Box 1515, Kingston, OK. 73439, or Fittstown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 254, Fittstown, OK. 74842.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Susan Janetta Miller
TROY -- Graveside rites for Susan Janetta Miller, 75, were 10 a.m. Saturday at Troy Cemetery with James Shackeford officiating.
Born June 7, 1923 at Okfuskee to Clarence and Gertie Chapman Moody, she died Oct. 8, 1998 at a Sherman, Texas hospital. She married Marion Miller in 1973 at Tishomingo. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; two sons, Bruce Grimes and Robert Grimes; and a grandson, Marion Grimes.
A lifelong resident of Johnston County, Mrs. Miller had managed several cafes until her health failed her. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Blakey, Howe, Texas; two brothers, Bill Moody, Reagen, and Wilburn Moody, Tishomingo; three sisters, Geneva Powell, Reagen, Dorothy Bales, New Castle, and Mary Hallmark, Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Juanita I. Brandt
DUNCAN -- Services for Juanita I. Brandt, 90, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Grantham Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Green officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery.
Born Feb. 19, 1908 at Comanche to Bob and Rose Pharris Howard, she died Oct. 8, 1998. She married Walter Jacob Brandt Dec. 11, 1926 at Hobart. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1995.
Mrs. Brandt had attended school at Loco. She was a member of the Duncan Trinity Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Velma Chapter No. 459.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Brandt, Duncan; one daughter, Mary Sue Butler, Stillwater; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Calvin 'Clyde' Morgan
MADILL -- Services for Calvin 'Clyde" Morgan, Midland, Texas will be 10 a.m. Monday at Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Hubert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mannsville Cemetery.
Born March 26, 1925 at Bethel to James Roy and Mattie Pearl Altum Morgan, he died Oct. 8, 1998 at a Midland hospital. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Orvel Morgan.
Raised in the Madill area, he married Peggy Jean Stilley Oct. 2, 1948 at Rockwall, Texas. He and his wife lived at Dallas and Kermit, Texas and then moved to Jal, N.M., where they lived for 35 years. Morgan owned a series of service stations and later was employed with Union Texas Petroleum in New Mexico. He retired in 1985. Following hs retirement he and his wife moved to Midland.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Clyde Morgan Jr., Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Sherry Merton, Stanton, Texas, and Karen Palmer, Midland; five brothers, Ernest Morgan, Wilmer, Texas, Dick Morgan, Henry Morgan and James Morgan, all Madill, and Don Morgan , Gainesville, Texas; one sister, Thelma Gentry, Pueblo. Colo. six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Bearers are Clifford and Dustin Palmer, Lance and Ryan Morton, Dan Broughton and Roy Gentry.
