ENID -- Services for Eldon L. Smith, 54, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Jack Garrison and the Rev. J.D. Whalen officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born April 2, 1944 at Dewey to Frank Forest and Frances Lytle Smith, he died Oct. 8, 1998. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Smith moved to Enid in 1956. He married Alice A. Best on June 10, 1966 at Enid. Smith was a veteran of the United States Army. He had retired from the city of Enid after 25 years of service. Smith was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Sonna Genn, Ardmore; one son, DeWayne Smith, Enid; one sister, Nina Gleason, Enid; and a grandson.
Memorials may be made to the United Pentecostal Church, with the funeral home serving as custodian.
Services are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.
KINGSTON -- Graveside rites for Jady Christopher Woods, 87, at 10 a.m. Monday at Kingston Cemetery with Jerrell and Sherry Heath officiating.
Born Feb. 8, 1911 at Kingston, he died Oct. 9, 1998 at a Madill nursing home.
Woods spent his entire life at Kingston.
Survivors include one sister, Blanch McCart, Calisburg, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
KINGSTON -- Services for Garnet W. Norton, 83, will be 2 pm. Monday at Texoma Southern Baptist Church with Troy Capps officiating. Interment will follow at Shay Cemetery.
Born Nov. 21, 1914 at Chambersburg, Penn. to William and Clyde Bell Reynolds Norton, he died Oct. 10, 1998 at his home.
Raised at Ardmore, Norton married ClyDean Truax on Jan. 3, 1959 at Gainesville, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from civil service at Rolla, Mo. Norton was a member of the Texoma Southern Baptist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Knights Templer, Elks Lodge, Eagle Lodge and the Shriners.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Peggy Harryman, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Bearers are Joe Huddleston, Ralph Graybeal, Gil Gothard, Jerry McMullen, Bob Trammel and Bill Smith. Honorary bearers are L. B. Wright, Gene Sain, Art Skidmore, Dean Burnett, Ted Reece, James Livingston, Wayne Webb, Gary Reid and Richard Ainsworth.
Services are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
FOX -- Services for Chester Dixon, 77, will be 3 p.m. today at Fox Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Keck officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery, north of Ringling.
Born Jan. 13, 1921 in Carter County to George and Kate Dunn Dixon, he died Oct. 9, 1998 at an Ardmore hospital.
A graduate of Fox High School, Dixon was a welder and a rancher. He lived in this area until moving to Texas in 1960, where he worked building horse ranches. He moved back to Oklahoma in 1983. Dixon was a member of the Fox Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the United States Navy. He was a member of the Veterans for Foreign Wars Post 8611.
Survivors include two sons, Denny Hollis Dixon, McKinney, Texas, and Benny Joe Dixon, McKinney; one brother, J.M. Dixon, Duncan; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Robert Griffin, David Morse, Merle Watson, Dale Dixon, Eddie Dixon, Meril Hodges and Larry Morgan. Honorary bearers are Jimmy Welch and Bill Akins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chester H. Dixon Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Fox Independent School District, P.O. Box 248, Fox, OK. 73435.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Services for Lila F. Hill, 67, will be 3 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cecil Boling and the Rev. Alex Conteas officiating. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery.
Born Feb. 13, 1931, at Enville to O.H. and Velma Muncrief Minyard, she died Oct. 9, 1998, at an Ardmore hospital. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Minyard, in April.
Mrs. Hill was reared in Love County. She married Bert Hill on Dec. 2, 1972, at Carrollton, Texas. She was a waitress at the Waffle Inn at Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Hill was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, Dave Morgan, Gainesville; one daughter, Sue Regsdale, Golden, Texas; two brothers, Oscar Eugene Minyard, Gracemont, and Leroy Minyard, Yukon; and five sisters, Susie Mae Wheeler, Pasadena, Texas, Imogene Hood, Enville, Fern Bryant, Yuba City, Calif., Peggy Ann Vanderveer, Sherman, Texas, and Linda Sue Sulton, Denison, Texas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Dannie Minyard, Tommy Ray Wheeler, Davie Minyard, Derrie Minyard, Sean Vanderveer and Dickie Minyard.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Kennedy Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Services for Kelly C. Worsham, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ash Street Church of Christ with his son, Ronnie Worsham, officiating. Interment will be at Bomar Point Cemetery.
Worsham died Oct. 10, 1998, in Healdton. He was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Western Carter County, to Harry O. and Addie Ruth Kimbrell Worsham.
Mr. Worsham was a lifelong resident of western Carter County where he was employed by Cox and Hammons Oil Co. from 1949 until his retirement in 1980.
He grew up in the Wilson area where he attended school at Zaneis, graduating in 1936. He married the former Treva Leotha Callahan. She preceded him in death July 4, 1964. He later married Wanda Dunigan. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Worsham was preceded in death by infant twin daughters in 1938; three sisters, Allene Saunders, Faye Morrison and Rita Lawrence; and a brother, Haskell Worsham.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home in Healdton; three daughters and their husbands, Judy and Jim Enos of Winterhaven, Fla., Jane and Bill Strickland of Velma, and Joy and Bob Doyle of Plano, Texas; five sons and their wives, Dean and Shirley Worsham of Elmore City, Don and Karen Worsham of Tom Bean, Texas, Tom and Jackie Worsham of Healdton, Jackie and Pam Worsham, and Ronnie and Tana Worsham, of Plano; a brother and his wife, Grady and Myrtle Worsham of Wilson; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons, Larry, Mike, Wade, Brandon, Kale, Casey and James Worsham, Lance and Justin Strickland and Weston Doyle.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
Services for Dorothy Lee Hoskins will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Fite officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoskins was born June 10, 1921, in Ardmore, to Raymond and Siddie Waddington. She died Oct. 10, 1998.
A former Ardmore resident, she married Paul H. Hoskins here Nov. 5, 1936, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peggs. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Ernie Hoskins, Ardmore, J.R. Hoskins, Reno, Nev., and Barney Canada, Enid; a daughter, Geneva Bishop, Peggs; a sister, Pearl Long, Ardmore; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Carlton Howard, F.E. Roberts, Jim Michaels, Eddie Sullivan, Pat and Claude Crossland.
GENE AUTRY -- Services for Jacob Elmer "Jake" Hollenbeck, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gene Autry Methodist Church with the Rev. Milton Murphy officiating. Interment will be at Young Cemetery under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Hollenbeck was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Green City, Mo. He died Oct. 10, 1998, in the local hospital.
He had been a resident of this area most of his life and was owner-operator of Skelly Oil. He was a member of Gene Autry Methodist Church. He and Juanita Young were married May 21, 1938, at Springer. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1990.
Survivors include two sons, two sons, Joe, Lindsey, and John, Gene Autry; and four grandchildren.
Services for Dott Johnson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Interment will follow at Grady Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 19, 1907, at Blair, Indian Territory, to Joseph and Lula White Kamenzind. She died Oct. 10, 1998, in the Healdton Hospital after an extended illness.
She lived in Galveston, Texas, 35 years and was married to Dennis Johnson there Feb. 24, 1940. He died Sept. 18, 1966. She moved to Ringling in 1978 and then to Ardmore in 1988. She was a member of Ringling First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jack D., Ardmore; a sister, Birdie Jones, Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Max Kamenzind, Houston. She was preceded in death by three sisters.
SULPHUR -- Services for Edna Jewell Etchieson, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Swain officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Etchieson died Oct. 12, 1998, in Sulphur. She was born Oct. 11, 1908, at Hickory, to Albert L. and Maggie Wallen Clary.
She married James Leonard Etchieson Dec. 24, 1926, at Blue Mound and was a retired housemother at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a member and teacher at Calvary Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star and Tulip Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna McFarland, Sulphur, and Margie Barrow, Bethany; two sons, Jim, Bixby, and Ed, Cedar Hill, Texas; a brother, A.L. Clary Jr., Sulphur; sisters, Alene Violette, Oklahoma City, and Evelyn Spenser, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Aubry Clary; and sister, Anna L. Clary.
DAVIS -- Graveside rites for James W. "Jack" McClellan, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.
McClellan died Oct. 12, 1998, in Oklahoma City. He was born May 23, 1929, in Davis, to Jim and Jewell Clark McClellan.
He married Florence Johnson March 12, 1958, in Ardmore, and was employed by the City of Davis for many years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, James, Davis; a daughter, Molly Rawls, Ratliff City; a brother, Roy, Moore; a sister, Mary VanBuskirk, Blanchard; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley.
Aaron-Krien Funeral Home will direct services.
DOUGHERTY -- Graveside rites for Arvin David "Duke" Clelland, 52, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dougherty Cemetery with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating.
Clelland died Oct. 11, 1998, in Norman. He was born Nov. 5, 1945, at Braggs, to Andrew J. and Lena Gray Clelland.
Reared in Braggs, he served 13 years in the Army as a motor pool mechanic and had lived in Norman several years. He was custodial supervisor at the Marriott Hotel and member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He and Jeanie Saunders were married June 5, 1982, at Junction City, Kan.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughter, Lisa Greuel, Muskogee; stepdaughter, Darla Ostler, Norman; stepson, Wesley McBride, Phoenix; brother, Elton, Durant; sister, Willamina, Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Clagg Funeral Home, Sulphur, will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Mozelle "Slick" Blackwell Howe will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vinita Avenue Church of Christ with Tom Byrd and Dan Clark officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howe died Oct. 12, 1998, in Sulphur. She was born June 20, 1914, at Drake, to Hub and Rosa Patterson Blackwell.
She had lived in this area all her life, attending school at Drake and Mill Creek, and was a member of Vinita Avenue Church of Christ. She and Samuel F. "Pamp" Howe were married June 16, 1934, in Ardmore.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Dorothy Shive, Houston; son, Pat, Nebo; two sisters, Nell "Pug" Howe and Estelle Chaffin, Sulphur; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Richard and Chuck Shive, Pat, Patrick, Chris and Steve Howe.
