MADILL -- Services for Samuel Russell Mitchell, 83, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Madill Church of Christ with Don Huddleston officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
Born Sept. 8, 1915, at Atwood, he died Oct. 17, 1998, at a Denison, Texas, hospital following two years of ill health.
Mitchell was raised in the Oklahoma City area. He moved to Madill from New Braunfels, Texas. He married Myra Jean Wilson on July 16, 1991, at Madill. Mitchell had served in the United States Navy. He worked for Gruen Mueller for several years as a salesman and territory manager. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Carol Harkins, Oklahoma City; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Cashion and Sharon Purcell, both Pilot Point, Texas, Brenda Shelton, Bethany; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Brent Smith, Eddie Kenedy, Quentin Dishman, Jack Weldon, Willie Bridgeman, Mike Thomas and Bob Ayres. Honorary bearers are Norman Denton, Otis Wilson, Push Mills, Harry Heinzman, Ron Gentis and Bill Ayres.
Services are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
GRAHAM -- Services for Minnie Ethel Watkins, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Graham Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Hurshel Baker and John Harris officiating. Interment will be at Graham Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watkins died Oct. 17, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital after a sudden illness. She was born to John and Zue A. Burns Morrow Dec. 17, 1916, in Graham.
A life-time resident of Graham, she had been a homemaker and cook at the Graham schools 10 years. She had been a member of Graham Assembly of God Church 43 years. She and Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Watkins were married April 10, 1933, in Ardmore. He preceded her in death April 6, 1975.
Survivors include five daughters, Estelene Hand, Madill, Ann Stubblefield, Sapulpa, Sue Dewbre, Graham, Edna Mae Turner, Fox, and Nancy Savage, Graham; three sons, Johnny, Graham, George, Hartshorne, and Jimmy, Fox; five children she reared as her own, Richard Watkins, Fox, Geraldine McDaniel, Albany, Texas, Edna Rader, Henryetta, Lee Wadkins, Shawnee, and Jack Wadkins, Sandy, Ore.; a brother, Ira Morrow, Fox; two sisters, Lola Barber, Graham, and Christine Henley, Tryon; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene; three brothers, Ben, Charley and Avery Morrow; and a sister, Louise Wadkins.
Bearers will be grandsons, Billy Hand, Wayne Watkins, Jeff Miller, Terry Turner, Larry and Tommy Savage. Honorary bearers are also grandsons, Bobby Hand, Timmy Miller, Bill Savage, Leroy, Tommy and Gary Stubblefield.
MARIETTA -- Funeral services for LaWana Batson Rhyne were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today, Oct. 19, 1998, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Mike Sampson officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rhyne was born Jan. 9, 1939, at Marietta, to W.T. and Violet Wilson Batson. She passed away Friday morning, Oct. 16, 1998, at Mercy Health Love County hospital at the age of 59 years, nine months and seven days.
Mrs. Rhyne lived all her life in Love County. She was a retired dispatcher from the Love County Sheriff's Department. She attended First Christian Church of Marietta. She was preceded in death by her father on June 5, 1974; a daughter, Patty G. Rhyne on Oct. 29, 1986; and her mother on July 25, 1997.
She is survived by a devoted companion, Ray Grice, Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Claud and Cynthia Rhyne, Falconhead; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Dana Batson, Marietta; a grandson, Christopher Rhyne; and four loving nieces.
Bearers were Paul Hallum, Bobby Phillips, Wayne Rains, Lynn Puckett, Hubert Sampson and Roy Rains. Honorary bearers were Jim Locke, Dr. J.T. O'Connor Jr., Charles Clark, Fred Grice Sr. and Bud Perry.
The family has requested that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Services for Edgar A. Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Dr. Virgil Trout and Roy Hannah officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Johnson died Oct. 17, 1998, in the local hospital. He was born March 16, 1904, at Tribby, to Joseph and Josephine Johnson.
A lifetime resident to the Ardmore area, he was the retired owner and operator of the Tivoli Barber Shop. He was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church and Elks Lodge. He and Christine Elizabeth Petty were married Sept. 11, 1929, at Mannsville.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Joyce Wilson, Ardmore; a brother, Arthur A., Wichita, Kan.; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Sam Stearns, Bill Bowden, Edgar Wallace, Kenneth Murphy, John Cobb and Derrel Johnson.
SULPHUR -- Services for Samuel Albert Vaughn, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ with Dan Clark officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Brushey Cemetery in Bowie, Texas.
Vaughn died Oct. 19, 1998, in Sulphur. He was born March 11, 1905, at Scottsboro, Ala., to Samuel P. and Annie Swafford Vaughn.
Reared in Bowie, Texas, he taught school in north Texas 16 years and retired from Shell Oil Co. He had lived in Sulphur since 1949 and was a member of Vinita Avenue Church of Christ. He and Nona Lee Masten were married July 14, 1929, at Decatur, Texas. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Woolsey, Fort Worth, Texas, and Francis Maloney, Oklahoma City; a sister, Fannie Kuykendall, Carnegie; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gypsie Shores.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Clagg Funeral Home will direct services.
HEALDTON -- Services for Laverne H. Pierce, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reser Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Graham Cemetery, Graham.
Pierce died suddenly Oct. 18, 1998. He was born to Walter and Winnie Ponder Pierce Oct. 15, 1927, at Pruitt City.
Reared at Graham, he married Mary E. Trammell April 9, 1948. They lived in Graham, Duncan and Colorado. He served as a signal corps communications expert with the Army in Korea. Before he retired he was an independent oil producer, farmer and rancher. He and Eva P. Wright were married Oct. 12, 1984.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Randy, Seminole, and Rusty, Fox; a daughter, DeeAnna Martin, Houston; three stepdaughters, Leona Wright, Chanute, Kan., Pertresa Wright and Lisa Wright, Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Ervin Pierce, Graham; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Bearers will be Robert Howard, Larry and Greg Pierce, Tony, Craig and Dewey Hall, Robert Warrington, Al Littke.
MARIETTA -- Services for Blanche Ola Hill, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Dale Baptist Church with the Revs. Chief Lawson and Mike Castanos officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill died Oct. 18, 1998, at the local hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1907, at Mt. Vernon, Texas, to William H. and Delilah Lane Brown.
Married to J.G. "Dink" Hill May 4, 1929, at Mt. Vernon, she had lived in Love County 68 years and was a former cook at the Marietta Livestock Auction. She was a member of Shady Dale Baptist Church and Shady Dale Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 30, 1981; a son, Edwin, on April 16, 1979; and daughter, Wanda Dixon, on June 24, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Billy C., Marietta; three sisters, Jewel Foster, Marietta, May Shurbet and Cora Cooper, Mt. Pleasant, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons.
Bearers will be grandsons, Brad and Daryl Dixon, Wayne Mays, Bill Siller, Scott Birdsall, Bobby Lee Olive, Dan Brush, Bobby Joe, Mike and Mark Hill. Honorary bearers will be former and current members of Shady Dale Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Kennedy Funeral Home.
SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Ethel Oma Eidson, 96, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. James Swain officiating.
Mrs. Eidson died Oct. 19, 1998, in Sulphur. She was born Oct. 17, 1902, at Gainesville, Texas, to Younger D. and Connie Miller Ables.
Reared in Texas, she married Arvin Eidson March 13, 1930, at Frederick, and moved to Sulphur in 1935. She and her husband built and operated Platt Motel, now the Town Motel. They later owned and managed the Holly Hills Apartments. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Tulip Garden Club. Her husband preceded her in death May 29, 1996.
She is survived by a son, Arvin W., Sulphur; two granddaughters; stepsisters and brothers.
Memorials may be made to Love My Church building fund at Calvary Baptist.

MADILL -- Funeral services for Robert Wayne Blakely will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Madill First Baptist Church with Robert Dimmick officiating. Music arranged by Arnold Lay and Vicki Byrd. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mr. Blakely was born at Madill on Oct. 23, 1949. Following a sudden illness he died in Denver, Colo., Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at the age of 48 years.
He moved to Ardmore in 1972, later living in Oklahoma City and St. Louis, Mo., prior to moving to San Antonio where he continued to reside the remainder of his life. Wayne worked as an area manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a retired officer in the National Guard. He was married to Katy Kassap at St. Louis on Feb. 14, 1997. Wayne was affiliated with the Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife, Katy, San Antonio; a son, Robert Wayne Blakely Jr., Edmond; a daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Mars Martinez, Edmond; two stepdaughters, Roni Kassap and Jane Gunter, both of San Antonio; two stepbrothers, Robert Bruce Demmick, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Russell Charles Dimmick, Plano, Texas; his mother and father-in-law, Helen Jo and Bob Dimmick, Marlow; three grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles and other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude; and sister, Claudia Jo Blakely.
Casket bearers will be National Guard members.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Services for former Ardmore resident Amy Lynn Gatewood, 22, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Williamson Funeral Home in Franklin, Tenn. Interment will be announced later by Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home, Ardmore.
Miss Gatewood died Oct. 20, 1998, from injuries received in an auto accident. She was born in Georgia on Aug. 24, 1976.
She attended school at Plainview and had lived in Franklin two years, moving there from Ardmore. She was a cosmetologist employed by the Rodeo Drive Salon.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Fred and Linda Gatewood, Franklin; her mother and stepfather, Melba and Bill Mauldin, Ardmore; a brother, Barron Gatewood, Tennessee; two sisters, Gayla Bink, Tucson, Ariz., and Aja Mauldin, Ardmore; grandparents, W.A. and Peggy Mauldin, Ardmore; and great-grandmother, Nora Merrll, Ganns.
MADILL -- Services for Gladys Eloise Edwards, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Watts Memorial Chapel with Leo Potts officiating. Interment will be at Woodberry Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards died Oct. 20, 1998, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1919, at Olney, Ill.
Reared at Olney, she married Olen S. "Lum" Edwards March 4, 1939, at Henderson, Ky., and they moved to Madill in 1942. They later moved to the Pure camp. She was a member of Little City Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death June 7, 1988, and she returned to Madill several years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita McLaughlin, Moore, and Barbara O. Smothers, Mannsville; brother, Clifford Christy, North Carolina; three sisters, Ruth Risley, Bula Mae and Roberta Eck, Grayville, Ill.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
EASTMAN -- Services for Linis P. McMillan, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Eastman Baptist Church with the Rev. David Colaw officiating. Interment will be at Morgan Rest Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
Mrs. McMillan died Oct. 21, 1998, in Ardmore. She was born June 26, 1912, at Santo, Texas, to Alexander L. and Althea N. Irvin Morgan.
She came to Simon at the age of one year and married Odis McMillan April 4, 1937, at Marietta. They lived in Odessa, Texas, until her husband died, March 28, 1976, and she returned to Simon. She was also preceded by her stepmother, Mable Morgan; three brothers, Erskine, Cloy and W.B. Morgan; and two sisters, Althea Morgan and Eunice Frazier.
Survivors include four sisters, Lucy Mae Sexton, Simon, Grace Tucker, Oswalt, Anna Belle Shaw, Gainesville, Texas, and Lorrell Taylor, Malin, Ore.; and two brothers, A.L. Morgan, Simon, and Jack Morgan, Ardmore.
Bearers will be Sam Cain, Latrelle Shaw, Butch Tucker, Finley, Jerry and Gary Morgan.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Marvin William Reed, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Corbin Memorial Chapel with Eugene Ledford and Jerry Imotichey officiating. Interment will be at Condon Grove Cemetery, Milburn.
Reed died Oct. 20, 1998, He was born Oct. 14, 1919, at Wapanucka, to Billie and Minnie Reed.
A lifetime resident of Johnston County, he married Orelia Callen Dec. 21, 1941, at Tishomingo and they lived in the Fillmore area before recently returning here. He was a farmer-rancher and was a Johnston County employee with the transportation department 18 years before he retired Jan. 1, 1983.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Don; and brother, Calvin, Tishomingo; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, John and Leon; and sisters, Mae Capehart and Bessie Moore.
