Services for Eugene Bell, 47, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Warren Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Eugene Bellard and Frankie Johnson officiating. Interment in Clearview Cemetery.
Born May 24, 1951, at Ardmore to Carol and Dorothy Jones Douglas, he died Nov. 25, 1998, in Sherman, Texas.
Mr. Bell worked at the Heritage Village Nursing Center, Richardson, Texas, the past two years. He also worked at the Horizon Nursing Center, Sherman.
Survivors include a son, Reginald Lewis, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Janice, Ardmore, and Keisha, Marietta; his father, Carol Douglas, Ardmore; four brothers, Kerry Paul and James Douglas, both of Atlanta, Ga., Ellis, Ardmore, Junior, Dallas; three sisters, Donna Kay Horton, Ardmore, Loupe Joyce and Juanita Douglas, both of Duncan; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Denise Douglas.
Services under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
GRADY -- Graveside services will b 2 p.m. Monday in Grady Cemetery for Leora "Tommy" Yocum, 77, Ringling with Rev. Jim Morris officiating.
Born March 17, 1921, at Grady, to Oliver M. and Annie Sullivan Yocum, she died Nov. 26, 1998, in a Ringling health care center.
She lived in this area all her life.
Survivors include one brother, H.E. "Jack" Yocum, Ringling; one sister, Fay Landrum, Velma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Otis, Floyd, R.A. and Ike Yocum, and two sisters, Odessa McComas and Frances Lambert.
Reser Funeral Home, Ringling, will direct services.
MILL CREEK -- Services for Perlene Trammell, 86, Mill Creek, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Butch Fires and Jerry George officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery.
Born March 12, 1912, in Texas, to Alfred and Linnie May McMillan Pitman. she died Nov. 28, 1998, in Tishomingo.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She married Glenn Trammell Jan. 29, 1937, at Fittstown. He preceded her in death March 5, 1986.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlene, Mill Creek; one son, David, Fillmore; three brothers, D.F. and Earl Pitman, both of Mill Creek, and Roscoe Pitman, Roff; one sister, Leona Labbruzzi, Mill Creek; three grandchildren; and four grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of the Clagg Funeral Home.
RINGLING -- Services for Will B. Gregg, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 1, 1998, at the Church of Jesus Christ Gospel Tabernacle with Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Gregg died Nov. 29, 1998, in Ardmore. He was born May 15, 1913, at Rubottom, to Joseph H. and Hannah May Gregg.
Reared in the Orr area, he married Geneva Marie Abshire Oct. 26, 1938, at Orr, and they farmed and ranched until moving into Ringling in 1972. He then worked for Stroud Lumber Co. and Bill Smith Construction Co. His wife died in February 1974. He and Lavada M. Turner Gravley were married Jan. 4, 1979. He had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Martha Coaly and Barbara Barnes; and a grandson, whom he reared, Larry Griffin, all of Ringling; a stepdaughter, Mary Jackson, Davis; two stepsons, Charles Cain, Dallas, Ga., and William Lenhart, Lexington; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin children, Jack and Jill; two sisters, Florence Lambert and Lue E. Riley; four brothers, Luther, Homer, Bob and Melvin; and a grandson.
Bearers will be Don Patrick, Keith Blankenship, Jake Wade, Gene Jackson, Richard Wooley, Bill and Kenneth Smith.
Graveside services for Lois L. Davis will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Davis went to be with Jesus Nov. 29, 1998, from her daughter's home in Dallas. She suffered a stroke Sept. 1 at her home in Ardmore.
Born Feb. 23, 1924, at Gainesville, Texas, to Jack and Mary Newsom Riley, she had been a resident of Ardmore since age 9. She worked locally as a waitress until retiring in 1982 after the first of four strokes.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, A.A. Davis, a local bondsman and builder, Jan. 29, 1983; seven brothers, including Herman, Winford, Tommy, Jack and Bill Riley; and sister, Juanita Mitchell, all from the Ardmore area.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette Hubach-Pearce and Bill Pearce, Dallas; grandson and wife, John and Debby Bartels, Ardmore; granddaughter and husband, Mundee and David Robertson, Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Riley Bartels, Depreena and Dalan Robertson; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Honorary bearers are Wayne Bartels, Lorenzo Collins, Eddie Dill, Earl Harper, Bob Parsons, Phil Ross and Earl Wallace.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening.
Services for Beulah Swearingen, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Jess Whitlock officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born to Oren O. and Lora E. Schooley Harvey on June 25, 1910, in Marion, Ind., Mrs. Swearingen died Nov. 29, 1998, in a local health care facility.
Married to Charles Birch Swearingen July 20, 1931, at Mounds, she had been a resident of Ardmore since 1973 and was a member of Central Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death April 7, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Creecy, Ardmore, and Calista Salmans, Apache Junction, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Richard Creecy, Cap Stewart, Ronnie Byrd, Alphord Denham, Ray Harness and Jesse Knight.
Services for Robert McMains, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Robert Peterson officiating.
McMains died Nov. 29, 1998, in a local health care facility. He was born to Delbert Franklin and Minnie Mae McMains Sept. 8, 1936, at Springer.
A resident of Ardmore most of his life, he was a carpenter and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by a son, Daniel, Ardmore; daughter, Mary McMains, Lone Grove; and stepdaughters, JoAnna Tipton, Lone Grove, and Carole Holman, Sulphur.
MARIETTA -- Funeral services for Alyne F. Potts of Fort Worth, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Potts was born Jan. 31, 1908, at Aubrey, Texas, to George and Bertha Coffey Wand. She passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 28, 1998, at Harris Hospital of Fort Worth at the age of 90 years, nine months and 27 days.
Mrs. Potts had lived in Fort Worth one year after living most of her adult life in Healdton. She was married to Harold Potts in June of 1941, at Marietta. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1974. She was a retired teacher and a member of First Baptist Church in Ardmore where she taught a young women's Sunday school class for many years. Mrs. Potts was also preceded in death by a sister, Katheryn Tipton on April 9, 1996.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Harolyn and Jim Chatham, Sana'a, Republic of Yeman; two grandchildren, Angela Sinclair and Bradley Chatham; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Sinclair, Collin Sinclair, Connor Chatham and Makenzie Chatham; several nieces and nephews.
FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Services for B. Ray Girard, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Interment will be at Oak Valley Cemetery.
Girard died Nov. 28, 1998, in Englewood, Fla.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and former substation supervisor for OG&E.
Survivors include his wife, Lovene, of the home; a daughter, Ann Phillips, Fort Smith; three sons, Stephen, Ardmore, Geary, Lake Mary, Fla., and Dale, Englewood, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services for Bertha McGee Echer Tipton will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Revs. Ivy Henson and Dewain Duck officiating.
Mrs. Tipton died Nov. 30, 1998, in Pauls Valley following a brief illness. She was born June 4, 1919, in Carter County to Ernest C. and Roxie McGee Duck.
She was a lifelong area resident and member of Apostalic Faith Church. She and Murray Tipton were married Dec. 3, 1997, at DeQueen, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son; Troy McGee, Lone Grove; two daughters, Lorena Moss, Lone Grove, and Carolyn Taylor, Marten, Texas; five grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Duck; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
MADILL -- Services for Benny Ray Keith, 60, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Watts Memorial Chapel with Bill Miller and Mark Hill officiating. Interment will be at Woodberry Forest Cemetery.
Keith died Nov. 30, 1998, at the local hospital following a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1937, at Ardmore, to Troy S. and Letha P. Riggs Keith.
Reared at Lone Grove, he served in the Army and Army Reserve and married Colleen Yow June 8, 1957, at Fort Worth, Texas, where he lived until 1972. He then moved to Madill and owned the State Farm Insurance Agency here until he retired in 1994. He was a member of Mannsville Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Stephen, Norman; daughter, Glenda Ayres, Madill; his mother, Pearl Keith, Ardmore; three brothers, Larry, Ardmore, Billy, Newcastle, and Kenneth, Kingston; a sister, Lynda Wiser, Allen, Texas; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Gene, April 5, 1979.
Bearers will be Buddy Parks, Harvey Reid, Larry Wright, Jerry Clement, Bill Ayres, Lawrence Cox, Jim Jones and Donald Yow. Honorary bearers are the Coffee Shop Gang.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Ollie "Kate" Isenberg, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Rocky Pettyjohn and Howard Jones officiating. Interment will be at Condon Grove Cemetery, Milburn.
Mrs. Isenberg died Nov. 30, 1998, at Madill. She was born July 24, 1924, at Milburn to Webb and Sara E. Irving Henry.
She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of Johnston County. She and Carlton Walker Isenberg were married July 26, 1941, at Fillmore. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Belvie Harner; and brother, Vernon Henry.
Survivors include seven sons, Carlton Isenberg, Mill Creek, Billy Isenberg, Plains, Texas, Jerry Isenberg, Madill, Arnold Isenberg, Tommy Clines, Eddie Isenberg and David Isenberg, all of Milburn; a daughter, Patsy Adams; and sister, Yvonna Buckner, also Milburn; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
DUNCAN -- Services for Myrtle Lambeth Rose, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grantham Funeral Home. Interment will be at Duncan Cemetery.
Mrs. Rose died Dec. 1, 1998, in the Duncan hospital. She was born July 14, 1918, at Roberta.
She was assistant manager of Duncan Plaza before she retired.
She is survived by three sons, Phillip, Ardmore, Jimmie, Sand Springs, and Kenney, Sayre; three daughters, Lawanna Blevins, Waurika, Linda Gilbert and Paula Scott, Marlow; two brothers, Walter Lambeth, San Jose, Calif., and Dail Lambeth, Redmond, Ore.; two sisters, Jean Nunley and Charlene Duncan, Duncan; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
NORMAN -- Services for Norman Police Sergeant Dale Ellis DeBerry, 41, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holmberg Hall on the University of Oklahoma campus. Father Don Owens, Phil Richards, Tim Gallup and Randy Evers will officiate. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
DeBerry died Dec. 1, 1998, in Norman. He was born May 20, 1957, in Oklahoma City, to Tom and Pat Ellis DeBerry.
A graduate of Ardmore High School and the University of Oklahoma, he joined the Norman Police Department on April 16, 1984, and was promoted to Master Police Officer in October 1988 and to sergeant in March of 1997. As a member of the Police Department Competition Pistol Team he received numerous awards, including being named several times to the Governor's Twenty. He was also a member of the Emergency Response Team, bike team, FOP Lodge 122, and National Rifle Association. DeBerry received 27 commendations and was named Officer of the Year by the Norman American Legion Post in 1994.
At age 21 DeBerry became a 32nd Degree Mason, the youngest at that time. He was also a member of York Rite, Scottish Rite, Demolay and Phi Kappa Si fraternity. He and Tonya McGehee were married Jan. 28, 1995.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lindsey Crawford; and son, Cooper DeBerry, all of the home; his mother, Pat Mitchell, Falconhead; a brother, Greg; and grandmother, Carrie York, both of Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom DeBerry.
Bearers wil be Randy Evers, Phil Richards, Tim Gallup, Greg DeBerry, Shon Elroy and Frank Pasierb.
