DURANT ‹ Alice Fay Roebuck Gentry, 51, passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home in Durant Dec. 25, 1998. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home. A graveside prayer will follow at her final resting place in the Soper Cemetery.
Alice was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1947, in Hugo at Johnson Hospital. Her parents are Melvin and the late Fay Roebuck, Soper. She attended high school in Soper and graduated in the spring of 1966. Dec. 7, 1966 she married David Lee Gentry, Hugo, in Durant. They later divorced in 1990.
Alice started college at Southeastern State University in the fall of 1966 and attended off and on through 1977 when she graduated with a major in business administration and a minor in math. While in school, she worked for the business office at the campus as well as J.C. Penney in the catalog department. She then moved to Hugo where she taught math at Soper High School for one year and at Ft. Towson High School for one semester.
Alice then went to work for the Hugo Daily News for two years before moving to Ponca City. While there she was employed by J.C. Penney in the catalog depatment for one year before she was hired at Conoco Oil Company as an accountant in the Off-Shore Natural Gas Department. She was there for 11 years before she took early retirement in 1993 to care for her mother in Soper. Upon her mother¹s death, she moved to Ardmore and went to work for Samedan Oil Company as an accountant. Alice worked there until she took medical retirement due to ill health in 1996. She had been at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home in Durant since August 1998.
Alice was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dick and Inez Roebuck; maternal grandparents, Mert and Elizabeth Claborn; and her mother Ina Fay ³Granny² Roebuck.
Alice is survived by her father Walter Melvin Roebuck, a sister Shirley Ann Moore, and husband Eddie, all of Soper; two sons, Christopher Todd Gentry and wife Sylvia, Ponca City, and Eric Lee Gentry and wife Laura, Durant. Alice has four grandchildren, Stephen Candrick, Christian Nathaniel, and Caleb Todd Gentry, Ponca City, and Emilee Breann Gentry, Durant. She is also survived by two nephews, Bill Roebuck and Anthony Dean Moore, Soper.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home for all the care given to Alice to keep her comfortable in her final days. Also our gratitude goes out to Alliance Hospice in helping the family cope with the loss of our loved one. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Kurley, Dr. Bonnie Gearhart, and the staff at the Paris Cancer Center fo all their hard work and guidance over the last two years.
Along with flowers or gifts, memorials may be sent to the home of Shirley Moore in Soper, which will be used to edtablish a scholarhip fund in Alice¹s name for a graduating senior at Soper High School.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the Moore¹s residence north of Soper. Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR ‹ Funeral services for Estelle H. Stout, 84, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Vinita Ave. Church of Christ. Dan Clark and Tom Byrd will officiate with interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Born Sept. 9, 1914, in Lone Wolf to Charles Edward and Cora Robbins Hicks, she died Dec. 27, 1998, in Sulphur.
She grew up around Cloud Chief and Cordell. She married Foy A. Stout, Dec. 14, 1935. She moved to Sulphur in 1937 and had worked there for Kraft Foods, as a substitute teacher, and retired as a social worker for DHS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nov. 12, 1998; her parents; four stepsisters, Nellie McKee, Ann Meler, Myrtle Pillex, and Nan Cross; and a stepbrother, Jim Maynard.
She is survived by two sons, Jim, Folsom, Calif., and Larry, Garden City, Kan.; a brother, Cleo Hicks, Tulsa; a sister, Euzelle Wellenstein, Calif.; a stepsister, Sally Goodman, Cordell; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
DAVIS ‹ Services for Methel Oleta Webb, 81, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Pentecostal Church. Rev. Don Carter and Rev. Finis Steelman will officiate with interment in Green Hill Cemetery.
Born Feb. 8, 1917, in Foster to Oscar and Grace Selby Pursley, she died Dec. 27, 1998, in Sulphur.
She married James L. ³Goob² Webb, Sept. 26, 1967 in Madill. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Webb; a sister, Minnie Lee; and three brothers, Jay Roy, Cecil and Bill Pursley.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; four sons, Odie Roberts, Boston, Mass., Herschel Roberts, Norman, Wayne Webb, Davis, and Roy Webb, Ada; four sisters, Edith Romine, Callie Byrne, Pearl Reneger, and Lucille Bishop; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Mark, Eric, Brian, David, Jon, and Jeff Roberts and Bobby Webb.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to The Methel Webb Mothers Foundation, c/o Rev. Don Carter, United Pentecostal Church, Box 685, Davis, OK 73030.
Fox Funeral Home will direct services.
SANTA FE, NM ‹ Graveside services for former resident Melcena Brady, 72, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rosehill Cemetery with Rev. Roger Wood officiating.
Born May 12, 1926, to John Moore and Vera Jordan, she died at her home in Santa Fe, N.M., following an extended illness.
She married Billy Marion Brady in Gainesville, Texas, Aug. 4, 1943, and had lived in Santa Fe for the past 23 years.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; a daughter, Peggy Fournier, Grisley Flats, Calif.; three sons, Bill II, Telluride, Colo., Shawn, Union City, Calif., and Pat, Texarkana, Texas.
Contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
EDMOND -- Funeral services for Nancy Woodside Witman, 49, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 in Edmond.
Born Aug. 16, 1949, in Chickasha, she was the daughter of Lee and Nadina Woodside, whe died Dec. 28, 1998 in Edmond.
Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Ardmore High School and received her BS degree from Oklahoma State University in 1971. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy will be remembered and missed by her husband, William; a son, Matt; a daughter, Katie; a granddaugher, Madison Witman; two brothers, Clare Woodside, Edmond, and Robert Woodside, Norman; her parents; and her two dogs, Dottie and Sadie.
Memorial contributions or donations may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or the OSU Foundation.
Services are under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home.
LONE GROVE -- Funeral services for longtime resident, J.B. Norton, 75, are pending from Alexander Funeral Home.
Born April 15, 1923, to William Dalphus and Sallie Ellen Brumlow Norton in McMillan, he died Dec. 30, 1998, at his son's residence in Lone Grove.
A lifelong resident of the Lone Grove-Wilson area, he retired from Reserve Gas & Oil Co. after more than 30 years of service. He married the former Pauline Helen Odette Hacker, July 19, 1942, in Minco. He was preceded in death by her, Feb. 11, 1995; a son, Edwin, Dec. 1, 1976; and two brothers, T.R. and Dalphus.
He is survived by three daughters, Millie Jean Sweeten and Carolyn Sue Carter, Ardmore, and Gloria Fern Gothard, Lone Grove; five sons, Jimmy Paul, Ringling, Lonnie William and Sammy Joe, Ardmore, Johnny Mack, Wilson, and Richard Don, Lone Grove; a sister, Ruby Hacker, Muskogee; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
HENNEPIN -- Funeral services for Warren G. Smith, 76, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hennepin Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Price will officiate with interment in Hennepin Cemetery.
Born June 9, 1922, in Healdton, to Mally and Lucy Smith, he died Dec. 29, 1998, in an Ardmore hospital.
He had lived in California, marrying Mildred Martin in Los Angeles in 1963. He moved back to Hennepin in 1978 and had lived there since then. He was a veteran of World War II and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Brown, and his wife Mildred, in 1989.
He is survived by a son, Warren Dale, Davis; a stepson, Bill Byrd, Oregon; and two sisters, Mabel Green, Hennepin, and Ruby Fogle, Maysville.
Bearers will be Rodney Mullins, Alex Brassfield, Warren William Smith, Floyd Edward Smith, David Casey, and George Yancy. Honorary bearers will be Bob and Jim Wingo, Gene Pierce, and Jackson Payne.
Services are under the direction of Milburn Funeral Home.
EDMOND -- Funeral services for Nancy Woodside Witman, 49, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in Edmond.

Born July 12, 1907, in Oakdale, Penn., she died Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospital following an extended illness.
She married C. Edgar Hannum, Sept. 1, 1938, and had worked for the Ardmore Public Library until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband.
SULPHUR -- Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today for Trice Birch, 87, Sulphur, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Born March 11, 1911, to Lindsey E. and Lola O'Dell Birch at Sulphur, he died Dec. 29, 1998, in a local hospital.
A farmer, rancher and dairyman, Mr. Birch was a county commissioner 12 years. He worked several years for the state highway department before his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He married Ruth Thomasson Dec. 31, 1932, in Sulphur. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Frances Diacon and Iva Lee Quetone, Sulphur; three sisters, Louise Coll and Evelyn Easley, Sulphur, and Lenola Nelson, Lawton; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jack Riffe, Charles Tingle, David Pittman, Jim Lance, Jimmy Frazier, Alvin Kahlor and Marvin McCracken.
Services by the Huckleberry Funeral Home, Valliant, with local arrangements by Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
WAPANUCKA -- Funeral services for Velma D. Bolin, 84, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Claudie Bowie will officiate with interment in Rosehill Cemetery in Wapanucka.
Born July 20, 1914, in Purcell, she died Dec. 29, 1998, in an Atoka hospital.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a niece, Peggy Bell, Ridge Crest, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Winnie Jester, Lawton; a brother-in-law, G.T. Bolin, Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Graveside services for Geraldine Miller, 87, were at 11 a.m. today at Reck Cemetery near Wilson with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.
Born Feb. 14, 1911, in Wynnewood to A.F. and Mary Margaret Green Major, she died Dec. 30, 1998, in a Davis care facility.
She married T.B. Miller in 1928. He preceded her in death in 1985. She moved to Davis from Ardmore in 1985.
She is survived by four nieces, Estelle Rogers, Juanita Coppenbarger, and Dorothy Watson, all of Davis, and Thelma Neal, Waurika; three nephews, Williiam Payne, Davis, Jessie Payne, Tecumseh, and Johnny Payne, Duncan.
Services were under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
