Services for Chiquita "Skeet" Blankenship, 96, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Brantley officiating, Interment will be at Crinerville Cemetery.
Born on August 13, 1911 in Brock, to John and Effie Baker Godfrey, she passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 in Ardmore.
She married Robert Blankenship on Dec. 16, 1933 at Marsden. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1966. She was also preceded in death by he parents, a twin sister, Juanita Godfrey 3-years-of-age, sister, Myrtle Richardson, son-in-law, Bill Beane, and life long friend, Ethel Ellis.
She was a cook at Plainview School for many years before going to work at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore, where she retired. She was a member of Brock Baptist Church for 58 years.
Skeet enjoyed life to the fullest, working in her yard, gardening, and keeping the family stocked with plenty of canned vegetables. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Her strength and straight forward personality will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Beane and Dana Trueblood and husband, Chris, all of Ardmore; five grandchildren, Tammy Burns and husband, Jeff, Madill, Ricky Beane and wife, Teri, and Brad Beane, all Ardmore, Robin Dillon, Ringling and Christi Swanson and husband, Lance, Ardmore, 10 great grandchildren, Josh, Brandon and Jarod Beane, Ardmore, Shiann and Tucker Burns, Madill, Logan and Jackson Dillon, Ringling and Carter, Landry and Cal Swanson. Ardmore.
Bearers are Ricky and Brad Beane, Jeff Burns, Lance Swanson, Mike Fincher and Lester Greathouse.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today
Funeral services for Allen Edward "Buddy" Holt Jr., 55, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Don Clark. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta.
Holt, the son of A.E. "Red," and Jean Hagan Holt, was born June 17, 1943, in Ardmore. He died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Mercy Memorial Health Center after an illness.
A graduate of Dickson High School, he had lived in Garland, Texas, the past 35 years, moving there from Ardmore. He was a member of Garland Baptist Church. He was an auto mechanic and CB radio enthusiast. His handle was "Cannon Ball."
Survivors include his wife, Helen, Garland; a son, Michael Allen Holt, and grandson, Michael Allen Holt II, Lone Grove; his mother, Jean Holt, Ardmore; two sisters, Carolyn Lewis, Ardmore, and Ann "Pat" Johnson, Lone Grove; and brother, John Holt, also Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his father, A.E. "Red" Holt; and two sisters, Gail Holt and Evelyn St. Clair.
Serving as bearers will be Tommy Jacobs, Waylan Morris, Dewayne St. Clair, Mike Holt, Mark LaFerr and Richard Blankenship.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, Madill.
SULPHUR -- Services for Jerry Dean Lairson, 56, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
Lairson died Feb. 6, 1999, at his home in Sulphur. He was born Sept. 17, 1942, at Lexington, to Silas B. and Maudie Van Winkle Lairson.
He moved to California as a teen and lived in Norman, Wayne and Davis before moving to Sulphur in 1990. He and Vivian Mize were married May 21, 1966, at Noble. He was a butcher and market manager.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Lee, Pauls Valley, and Hollie Copeland, Sulphur; a brother, Charles, Lexington; five sisters, Wanda Draughn, Norman, Betty Williams, Shawnee, Ruby Lyle, Oklahoma City, Sue McGehee and Velma Vault, Lexington; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wilkens.
Bearers will be Ricky Roady, Allen Joslin, Gary Dobbins, Devin Draughn, Troy and Tony Lairson. Adrean Davison is honorary bearer.
ORR -- Graveside services for Trevor James Trammell, 5-month-old son of Jeff and Jenny Trammell, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Orr Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Dobson officiating.
The baby died Feb. 6, 1999, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1998, in Ardmore.
In addition to his parents of Ardmore, survivors include a sister, Casey Trammell, Leon; four brothers, Alan D., Leon, Dustin D., Justin D. and Colton D., all of the home; and grandparents, Ronnie and Vicki Acox, Dale and Linda Eubanks and Brownie White, all of Ringling.
Bearers will be Rodney Eubanks, Ronnie Acox II, Scotty and David Trammell. Honorary bearer is Chuckie Acox.
Alexander Funeral Home, Ringling, will direct services.
WEWOKA -- Services for Arvo M. Brixey, Ardmore, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stout Funeral Home in Wewoka with the Rev. Kelos Walker officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Brixey, 84, died Feb. 7, 1999, at his home in Ardmore. He was born Oct. 5, 1914, at Hickory Grove, to Oliver and Minnie King Brixey.
He married Marjorie Richardson March 23, 1938, at Wewoka where they lived for many years. He was retired from Conoco Oil Co. He was preceded in death by his wife in July 1998; and a brother, Yuless.
He is survived by a brother, J.O., San Diego, Calif.
RATLIFF CITY -- Services for Bunice L. "Buddy" Fuller, Countyline, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. John Harris and Dwight Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Ratliff City Cemetery.
Fuller died Feb. 6, 1999, in Healdton. He was born Dec. 5, 1920, in Mayfield, Ky., to Lubie and Alma Fuller.
He married Atlina Whitington May 4, 1942, at Portageville, Mo., and was a veteran of the Army. He was owner/operator of Buddy's Grocery in Countyline until 1996.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters, Linda Tivis, Pruitt City, Ann McCaslin, Healdton, Phyllis Arington, Hugoton, Kan., and Brenda Shifflett, Velma; three sons, Butch, Lawton, Danny and Gerald, Medicine Park; two brothers, Doyle and J.T., Elwood, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by two brothers; and a great-granddaughter.
Bearers will be Cary D. Tivis, Jason Arington, Mike Johnston, Brandon Wright, Lee Hudson and Jackie Slate.
Milburn Funeral Home will direct services.
DAVIS -- Services for Vesta Pearl Latimer, 85, Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Davis with the Rev. Lin Jones officiating. Interment will be at Wynnewood Cemetery under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.
Mrs. Latimer died Feb. 6, 1999 in the Ardmore hospital after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 12, 1913, at Wynnewood View, to John T. and Maude Suttle Noland.
Married to O.W. "Mike" Latimer in 1940, she had lived in the Wynnewood area all her life before moving to Ardmore five years ago. She was a homemaker and a member and teacher at Hickory Baptist Church.
Survivors include eight children, Carlma Holder, National City, Calif., John Latimer, Olympia, Wash., Sandra Corbett, Thackerville, Steve Latimer, Seagoville, Texas, Ken Remy and Marilyn Edwards, Ardmore, Dennis Latimer and Becky Latimer, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Virgil and Dale Noland, Davis; two sisters, Ruby Kennedy, Wynnewood, and June Cobb, Shawnee; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Earl and Jack Noland; and two sisters, Velma Watson and Ada Lancaster.
Bearers will be grandsons Randy Remy, Craig and Steven Latimer Jr., Vince Edwards, Kevin Corbett and Ray Arnold. Honorary bearers are Ryan and Brad Edwards, Joseph Latimer, J.C. Corbett, Jason Grant and Dustin Rollings.
WILSON -- Graveside funeral services for Faye Rene 'Parr' Bailey, 77, Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reck Cemetery with Lloyd T. Bailey officiating.
Mrs. Bailey died Feb. 6, 1999, at the Irving Baylor Medical Center, Irving, Texas. She was born Jan. 26, 1922, south of Wilson, to William J. and Margaret Ruth "Qualls" Parr.
Raised in the Wilson area, the lifelong resident married Mackie DeRoy Bailey in 1938, at Wilson. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1980. Shortly after his death she moved to Ardmore where she was employed by K-Mart and later as a desk clerk at Best Western. For the past three months she had lived with a daughter in Fort Worth, Texas. She was also preceded by both her parents, her father, on Sept. 19, 1970; and mother, June 18, 1998.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Roger Edming, Fort Worth; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sheree and David Norman, and grandson, John Michael Norman, all of Ardmore; three brothers, Kerby Parr, also Ardmore, Bill Parr of Ada, and Bobby Parr of Portland, Ore.
Bearers will be John Mayo, Phillip Herr, Richard Boone, Chuck Rossiter, David Norman and Kenneth Hensley. Honorary bearer is John Michael Norman.
Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson, will direct services.
Services for Alma Mae Morrison, 102, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Morrison died Feb. 6, 1999 in a local health care facility. She was born to Wesley and Mattie Bowlinger Williams on Aug. 19, 1896, in Buffalo, Texas.
She married Bruce Morrison Oct. 29, 1916, in Tribey, and had lived in Ardmore since the late '70's, moving here from Canon City, Colo. where she and her husband were motel owners/operators. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Aug. 4, 1992; and a brother, Alvin.
She is survived by a sister, Winnie Southard of California.
Bearers will be Ron Kyker, Mark A. Newman, Jay M. Newman, Gary Simmons and Gene Conway.
Services for Lois E. Stephens will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Dr. Virgil Trout officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stephens was born Sept. 19, 1906, in Texas, to William J. and Margaret Cenith Tyler. She died Feb. 5, 1999 in a local health care facility.
She married Houston Stephens Dec. 18, 1924, at Brady, Texas and was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, March 15, 1994; and a son, Ernest, in 1992.
Survivors include sons, Bill, Lone Grove, and Gene L., Dyersburg, Tenn.; daughter, Marguerite F. Benson, Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be Ben Andrews, Bob, Mike, Gary, Shane and Joseph Stephens.
POOLEVILLE -- Graveside rites for Noel D. Anderson Sr., Pruitt City, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pooleville Cemetery with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.
Anderson died Feb. 6, 1999 in the Ardmore hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Love County, to Will and Rosa Anderson.
He served in the Navy During World War II and was a retired oil field worker. He had lived all his life in this area.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Jean, Duncan, Shirley Jo, Truckee, Calif., and Sandy, San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Noel Jr., Conway, Ark., Tommy D., and Warren D., California; and two sisters, Lynell Self and Nelda Honeyton, also of California. He was preceded in death by six sisters; and four brothers.
Milburn Funeral Home, Ratliff City, will direct services.
DAVIS -- Services for Charles H. Meadows Jr., formerly of Davis, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Main Church of Christ with Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Meadows died Feb. 7, 1999, in the Norman hospital. He was born June 3, 1925, at Eagle Lake, Fla., to Charles and Clara J. Darnell Meadows.
He moved to Davis in 1953 and was a member of the East Main Church of Christ. He had lived in Norman several years.
He is survived by a sister, Vivian Mobley, Dallas; and brother, Jerome, Culver City, Calif.
Bearers will be Jack Fox, Howard, Mitchell, Wade Brown, Wilford Lewis, John Huggins and Buck Howard.
Services for Carrie Lou Campbell, 80, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Fite officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born Oct. 31, 1918 at Leo, Texas to Bird and Bertha Burk Moss, she died Feb. 6, 1999 at her residence after an extended illness.
She married Rosecoe Joseph Campbell Dec. 28, 1939 at Gainesville, Texas. They moved from Gainesville to Ardmore in 1951, where they raised they family. She and her husband were active members of the Lone Grove Senior Citizens Center and members of the Southwest Baptist Church. She was well known for her quick wit an love of people.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Wanda Pratt and her husband, George, Lone Grove; Katty Lane, and her husband, R.E., Dallas, and Brenda Campbell, Dallas; one son, Kent Campbell, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Wayne Moss, Decatur, Texas and J.R. Moss, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Doug Cude, Louie Hattensty, Wythe Munford, Mike Keeton, Jimmy Moss and Sammy Puckett. Honorary bearers are Freeman Blakenship, Freddie Gordon, Joe Campbell, Cecil Campbell, Vernon Denny and Johnny Jackson.
