Services for Lula Marie Hunter will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Donnie Custar and Bruce McLaughlin officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hunter died March 2, 1999 in a local health care facility. She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Ardmore, to Joseph T. and Carrah E. Day.
A resident of Ardmore most of her life, she was a catalogue clerk for the J.C. Penney Co. before she retired. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She and Freddie G. Hunter were married Jan. 5, 1935, in Ardmore. He preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Joe, Lone Grove, and Kenneth, Ardmore; a daughter, Cathy McLaughlin, Ardmore; two brothers, Thad Day, Ardmore, and George Day, Midwest City; three sisters, Lorene Jennings, Ardmore, Nona Buck, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ruby Smith, Moore; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be James McElvaney, Kenneth Williams, Loyd Bowers, Bobby Neasbitt, Mike Coffman and Boyd Howell.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for J.C. Bennett Jr., 83, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will be at Tishomingo Cemetery under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Bennett died March 1, 1999 in Tishomingo where he was born July 25, 1915, to John C. and Zenobia N. Jones Bennett.
A lifetime resident of Tishomingo, he attended Murray State College and married Mary Baker July 2, 1935, at Sulphur. He served in the Navy during World War II, as postmaster and was a rancher. He was a life-member of First Baptist Church, a member the Soil Conservation Board, Chamber of Commerce, American Angus Association, Johnston County Fair Barn and received the Life Recognition Award from the 4-H Club.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Buckner and Mary Jane Nelson, Tishomingo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Sybil Taylor, Sylvia Gill, Thelma Cummings and Ruby Davis.
MILBURN -- Services for Wendell Palmer, 54, will be at 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Branch officiating. Interment will be at Bold Springs Cemetery under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Palmer died March 1, 1999 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 6, 1944, at Milburn.
A lifetime resident of Milburn, he married Betty L. Gibson Sept. 22, 1969, and worked as a truck driver, surveyor and in the oil fields.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; his parents Guy and Julia Palmer, Milburn; a son, Bryan, Fort Gibson; a brother, Winston, Milburn; sister, Martha McGill-Kirk, Ardmore; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Wayne.
TISHOMINGO -- Funeral services for Jessie J. Blair, 62, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Tishomingo with the Rev. Gale Izard and Lisa Crone officiating.
Mrs. Blair died Tuesday, March 2, 1999 in Tishomingo.
Born April 11, 1936, at Enid, Okla., to Clarence and Jessie Merle Jacobs Gilbert, she attended school at Felt, Okla., and graduated from Felt High School in 1954. She later attended and graduated from Panhandle A&M College with a degree in music education. She married Wendell Blair on Dec. 25, 1958, in Guymon, Okla., and taught music and kindergarten several years before moving to Tishomingo in 1975. Jessie and Wendell owned and operated Blair's Mayflower Shop in Tishomingo for over 20 years. They sold the business and retired in 1995. Jessie was a member of the Tishomingo First United Methodist Church and active in other civic activities. She was preceded in death by her father, Buck Gilbert, in 1982.
Survivors are her husband, Wendell, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sharla Blair of Midland, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Scott Kramer of Muskegon, Mich.; her mother, Merle Gilbert of Tishomingo; three grandchildren, Alexis and Colton Jesse Kramer of Muskegon, and Michaela Blair of Midland; a brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Janet Gilbert of Denver.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Brown, Clarence Stallings, Charlie O'Dell, Dennis Toews, Kirk Rodden, Donnie Walker and Charlie Locke.
Clark Funeral Home will direct services.
LONE GROVE -- Graveside rites for Colyounger Gaston, 77, Wilson, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lone Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating.
Gaston died March 3, 1999 in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1921, at Dillard, to James G. and Effie L. Savage Gaston.
He was raised in the Dillard/Wilson area and worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma until he retired. During World War II he served with the Army in the European Theater and received a Silver Star; a Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart and Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
He is survived by a son, Robin, Lone Grove; a brother, Mack, Wilson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse J., Frank and J.W.; and two sisters, Lorene and Bernice.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
RINGLING -- Graveside rites for Johnny Gene Underwood, 56, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Carroll officiating.
Underwood died March 2, 1999 at his home in Ringling. He was born Jan. 25, 1943, at Ringling, to Richard V. and Lula M. Evans Underwood.
A lifelong resident of Ringling, he served in the Army from 1961-63 and worked in the oil fields for several companies, including Jones Oil Co., before becoming employed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation at Waurika. He retired medically in August of 1997.
He is survived by a brother, Aaron, Ardmore; three sisters, Emma Elkins, Huffman, Texas, Gloria Lemons, Marietta, and Belle Paul, Altus. He was preceded in death by his father, Feb. 5, 1969; mother, June 11, 1995; two brothers, Richard, in 1969, and Billy Joe, June 23, 1995; a sister, Wynell Stewart, in 1996.
Bearers are Tracy and Jason Lemons, Vance Paul, Danny Underwood and B. J. Culwell.

DOUGHERTY -- Services for Jim Lucas, 60, Sulphur, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Dougherty Baptist Church with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Lucas died March 2, 1999 in Sulphur. He was born May 1, 1938, in Dougherty, to Emmit L. and Carmine Drew Lucas.
A lifetime resident of the Sulphur/Dougherty area, he served in the Army and worked as a carpenter. He and Rozella Laughlin were married Aug. 17, 1976, in Gainesville, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Melna I. Lamb and Laticia K. Lucas, Sulphur; three sons, Jimmy Lucas, Roff, Robert Lucas, Pensacola, Fla., and Tommy Laughlin, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Jan Billy and Joan McDonald, Dougherty; two brothers, Monte, Dougherty, and Victor, Sulphur; and four grandchildren.
Bearers will be Allen Primrose, Charlie Gooch, David Billy, Bobby Walker, Fred Edmonds and Kenneth Carter. Honorary bearers are Tony Stephens, Bobby Kimbro, Bill House, Buddy Reagan, Earle Skinner and David Stephens.
Funeral services for Glenn Alfred Owens, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Dr. Douglas R. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born to Charles Wesley and Myrtle Minnie Munn Owens on Jan. 22, 1923, in Ardmore, Okla., he passed away on March 2, 1999, in the local hospital.
He and Lois Evelyn May were married on April 5, 1942, in Waurika. She preceded him in death in 1991.
Mr. Owens had lived in the Ardmore area all his life. He was an independent land man. Glenn was a member of the Oklahoma Petroleum Landman's Association and the First Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Owens of Lewisville, Texas, and Glenn Wesley Owens of Scotts Air Force Base, Ill.; grandchildren, Richard Owens of Lewisville, and Scot Owens of Keller, Texas; a dear friend, Dorothy Skinner of Ardmore; and a great-grandchild, Olivia Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Lynn Owens, on June 4, 1997; and a brother, Robert E. Owens.
Pallbearers will be David Hill, Richard Owens, Scot Owens, Bill Green, John Means and Gary Cummings. Honorary bearers will be Warren Wood, Don Cummins, Raymond Helm, John Yaraborough, Basil Moran and Tim Berryhill.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9 p.m.

She is survived by her sons, Joe Hunter and his wife, Velma, of Lone Grove, and Kenneth Hunter and his wife, Jamie, of Ardmore; a daughter, Cathy McLaughlin and her husband, Bill, of Ardmore; brothers, Thad Day of Ardmore, and George Day of Midwest City; sisters, Lorene Jennings of Ardmore, Nona Buck of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ruby Smith of Moore; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dean, on Oct. 15, 1988.
Pallbearers will be James McElvany, Kenneth Williams, Loyd Bowers, Bobby Neasbitt, Mike Coffman and Boyd Howell.
Services will be directed by Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Services for Thomas E. Hansen, 79, are pending from Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. He died March 3, 1999, in the local hospital.
Among his survivors are his wife, Paula, of the home; and four sons, Dan, Tulsa, Mark and Chris, Arlington, Texas, and Tracy, Ardmore.
Graveside rites for J.B. Watterson, 75, will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Provence Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Biggers officiating.
The son of the late Alvin and Ruby Holder Watterson, he was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Carter County, and passed away Wednesday at the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City following a lenghty illness.
A resident of Ardmore for most of his life, he worked for the FAA in Alaska, and after returning to Ardmore, was a carpenter. He served in the US Army during World War II and was involved with several of the beach landings.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Owen and Tawana of Ardmore, and Travis and Kay of Mannsville; two brothers, Enoch and Vernon; and a sister, Pat Price, all of Ardmore; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe, Nov. 8, 1994; and a grandson, Ben, in 1998.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Services for Thomas E. Hansen, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ardmore Seventh Day Adventist Church with elders Rodney Grove and Harvey Kornegay officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Born to Andrew C. and Christine Jensen Hansen Aug. 11, 1919, at LaFayette, N.J., he died March 3, 1999, in the local hospital.
A resident of Ardmore since 1975, he was the principal and a teacher at Beavers Memorial Junior Academy. He was also chaplain at Ardmore Adventist Hospital. He was a member of Ardmore Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paula, of the home; four sons, Dan, Tulsa, Mark and Chris, Arlington, Texas, and Tracy, Ardmore; four sisters, Ruth Whiting, Deer Park, Calif., Naomi Andren, Eleanor Simkin and Cecilia Snody, El Mira, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings Andrew and Froe Hansen, Irene Reed and Martha Pike.
Bearers will be Greg Pack, Carl Rowe, Bill Mitchell, Bob McCoy, Charles Dabbert and Ray Hutson.
Graveside rites for Dixie Housley, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Provence Cemetery with the Rev. Robert D. Lee officiating.
Mrs. Housley died March 3, 1999, in the Muskogee hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 21, 1905, at Lockesburg, Ark., to James T. and Opha Cooper Hill.
A resident of Ardmore for over 50 years, moving here from Texarkana, Ark., she was a homemaker and member of First Orthodox Baptist Church. She and Floyd M. Housley were married June 29, 1929, at Nashville, Ark. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1988.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Bob, Yukon, James and Floyd Arnold, Ardmore; two daughters, Thelma L. Thomason, Ardmore, and Lena M. Loveday, Eufaula; a sister, Hazel Forest, Texarkana, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
