LEON -- Services for Lillie Buckhanon, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Leon Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins and Terry Hyman officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buckhanon died March 8, 1999, in a Marietta health care facility. She was born June 12, 1901, at Butcher, Texas, to Henry and Mary Montgomery Hyman.
She married Bill Buckhanon July 6, 1924, at Leon where she had lived most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Leon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband March 21, 1955; a brother; two sisters; a grandson; and great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a son, Calvin, Falconhead; daughter, Odessa Hunt, Overbrook; a brother, Robert Hyman, Rubottom; three sisters, Velma Reed, Rubottom, Faber Melson, Itasca, Texas, and Stella Flatt, White Settlement, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Arthur Buckhanon, Carol, Jimmy, Thurman Lynn, Ricky and Kenneth Gilbert. Honorary bearers are great-grandsons and Marion Gilbert.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.
DUNCAN -- Services for Dr. Ramon G. Blanco, 66, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grantham Funeral Home.
Blanco died March 5, 1999, in the Duncan hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Cuba.
He practiced medicine in Sulphur from 1974-76 and in Healdton from 1976 until 1981. He retired in 1992. He married Ninfa Alvarez Sharp Dec. 22, 1989, in Duncan, and was a member of Healdton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Ramon Jr., Ardmore, and Carlos, Norman; his mother, Teresita Blanco, Duncan and a stepdaughter, Liz Sharp, Clearwater, Fla.
Services for former Ardmoreite Juanita Faye Carpenter will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Jon Hosch and Leonard Keele officiating.
Ms. Carpenter died March 8, 1999. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, to Joe C. and Lillie Walding Carpenter in Fort Cobb.
She graduated from Berwyn High School in 1937 and attended Ardmore Business College. She was employed by Cooper Farms Dairy as office manager until 1979, then by Joe Martin Buick for three years before she retired in 1982 and moved to Duncan. She was a member of Chisholm Train Church of Christ and Prime Timers.
She is survived by a sister, Geneva Haney, Ardmore.
Bearers will be Robert Garrison, Carl Wessell and great-nephews.
Memorials may be made to Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF.
Grantham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Theory V. Dixon will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Ocie Willis and Frank Rushing officiating. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dixon died March 9, 1999, in the local hospital. She was born Feb. 4, 1906, in Tishomingo, Indian Territory.
She attended school at Booker T. Washington and was married to Lenard Dixon. They owned and operated a restaurant and nursing home before his death in 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Leward; and daughter, Valree Dixon, both of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
Bearers will be Simon Finley, Benny Lewis, Cornelius Williams, Charles Burnett, Ray Gaddis, Billy Gunter, David and Robert Walker.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Gordon Alexander Cotner, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bullard Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Payne officiating. Interment will be at Tishomingo Cemetery under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Cotner died March 10, 1999, in Tishomingo. He was born March 28, 1927, at Booneville, Ark., to Harrison H. and Myrtle Rothwell Cotner.
Reared in Booneville, he attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and served in the Army 28 years retiring as master sergeant. He was a life-member of VFW and DAV, a member of National Coon Hunters Association and Bullard Chapel Baptist Church. He and Beverly Ann Hollingshead were married June 27, 1956, at Lewiston, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Michael G., Tucson, Ariz., Gordon S., Asherville, Ark., and Steven R., Seminole; a daughter, Patricia A. Bell, Tishomingo; three brothers, Monroe, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Paul and Norman, Grove; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morrison; and two sisters, June and Geneveve.
PRUITT -- Graveside rites for Charles Vickie Dean will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pruitt Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Campbell officiating.
Dean died March 9, 1999, at his home in Springer. He was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Ardmore, to Walter E. and Norean Stewart Dean.
He had lived in Springer most of his life and worked as a mechanic for the City of Ardmore. He was a Baptist. He and Anna Sue Knight were married Aug. 30, 1995, at Springer.
Survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Charles W., Mannsville, and Shawn E., Springer; three daughters, Charla Burge, Ardmore, Vickie Lawson, Springer, and Rhonda Hammett, Lone Grove; his mother, Norean Miller, Springer; two stepsons, Plez Boswell, Chickasha, and Michael Easterwood, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Sheri Palmertree; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
Memorial services for Jimmy Don Grayham will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Royal officiating.
Grayham died March 9, 1999, in Ardmore. He was born April 8, 1948, in Oklahoma City.
A retired Army major, he married Erma Lucas Nov. 12, 1994, in St. Petersburg, Fla., and returned to Ardmore from there two years. As a lifelong member of AMVETS, he served as a state officer in Florida and was a charter member of Mary Niblack Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Jason Herbert, Ft. Stewart, Ga., and Justin Howard, Ohio; his mother, Dorothy Holt; father, Donald S. Grayham; sister, Patti Grayham; and brother, Gary; and grandmother, Mary Wall, all of Ardmore.
HEALDTON -- Services for Dorothy Hilliard, 71, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reser Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Keck officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mrs. Hilliard died March 11, 1999, in a Wilson health care facility. She was born Sept. 10, 1927, on the Block homestead in Kiowa County to Samuel S. and Effie Watson Block.
She married Charles E. Hilliard Oct. 22, 1946, at Vernon, Texas, and moved to the Fox area in 1951. She was a secretary on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Fox post office. She was a member, secretary and custodian at Fox Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband March 19, 1990; and a son, Charles Michael, in 1953.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty Whitsett, Healdton, and Terri Horn, Snyder, Texas; a son, Ricky, Ringling; two brothers, Kenneth Block, Abilene, Texas, and Vernon Block, Ringling; a sister, Betty Trout, Crescent; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Johnny Crabb, Chris Whitsett, Darryl Blackman and Wes Warrington.
MARIETTA -- Services for Terrie Johnson, 41, are pending from Kennedy Funeral Home. She died March 11, 1999, in Sulphur.
Among her survivors is her husband, Randall Rambo, of the home.
ENID -- Graveside rites for Orville W. "Mick" Hoyle, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid with the Rev. Gary McCormick officiating.
Born Sept. 3, 1914, in Ardmore, to William E. and Lena P. Browning Hoyle, he died March 10, 1999, in the Ardmore hospital.
Married to Sarah Elizabeth West June 9, 1934, at Chickasha, he moved to Enid in 1945 and worked as a truck driver for Farmland Industries until he retired in 1971. He returned to Ardmore in 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; and a brother, Bertie C. "Buck" in 1936.
Survivors include a son, Elmer J., Ardmore; a daughter, Rosetta P. Spadarotto, Auburn, Calif.; a brother, Jess, Pryor; a sister, Pauline McSparren, Port Orange, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Enid.
TULSA -- Services for former area resident Ansel Walter "Jabo" Davis, 77, were Thursday at Ninde Funeral Home Chapel in Tulsa. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
Davis died March 9, 1999, in Tulsa. He was born Jan. 2, 1922, at Dillard.
He graduated from Wilson High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a retired construction superintendent.
He is survived by a daughters, Yana Dommert, Bixby, Gayla Davis, Sulphur, La., and Cheryl Peterson, Joliet, Ill.; a son Rick, San Antonio; sister, Laverne Morris, Ardmore; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Betty Jo Enlue, died in 1982.
Services for Edna Lea Lamb will be 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Nov. 29, 1909, at the Wayley Ranch in Cook County, Texas, to John Walker and Sarah Haydn Skeans Holbrook, she died March 12, 1999, at a local hospital. She married Walter G. Lamb May 9, 1942, at Ardmore. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by five brothers James, Elmer, Kendall, Cecil and H.L. Holbrook; three sisters, Gladys Ballard, Jewel Bentley and Mabel Davis; and three stepchildren, Don and W.C. Lamb Jr. and Marynette Parker.
As a 4-year-old child she and her family forded the Red River in a wagon to make their home in southern Oklahoma. She was reared in the Enville-Lebanon area and moved to Ardmore in 1940. She joined the Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1942, where she taught a Sunday School class and was an active member as long as her health permitted. She was a homemaker, but could be found at times working in the family grocery business.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Edna Frances and William A. Schwab, Ardmore; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa Elaine and Duval Anglin, Mansfield, Texas; a grandson and his wife, Robert G. and Lesa Kay Johnson, Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Travis and Catherine Lea Bryant, Mansfield and Matthew Bourneuf and Jessica Elaine Johnson, Arlington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Ima Jo Holbrook, Choctaw, and Charles L. and Ruby Holbrook, El Reno; sisters-in-law, Hilda and Laura Holbrook, Ardmore, and Marguerite Holbrook, Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law, Eddie Davis, Oklahoma City; and a stepdaughter, Louise Jones, Ardmore.
Bearers are nephews.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
TULSA -- Services for Barbara Jeanette Kincaid, 79, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ms. Kincaid died March 12, 1999, at Tulsa.
Services for Charles B. McCourtney are pending at Craddock Funeral Home.
Born July 4, 1917, he died March 13, 1999, at a local hospital.
Survivors include one son, David McCourtney; one brother, Patrick: and two sisters, Linnie and Evelyn.
ENID -- Graveside services for Orville Willis "Mick" Hoyle, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid with the Rev. Gary McCormick officiating. Directing will be Brown Funeral Home in Enid.
Born on Sept. 3, 1914, in Ardmore, Okla., to William Elmer Hoyle and Lena Pearl Browning Hoyle, he died March 10, 1999, in the Ardmore hospital.
He married Sarah Elizabeth West on June 9, 1934, in Chickasha.
Mr. Hoyle had moved back to Ardmore in 1998, after living in Enid since 1945. He worked as a truck driver for Farmland Industries until his retirement in 1971.
Survivors include his son, Elmer Joe Hoyle, Ardmore; his daughter, Rosetta Pearl Spadarotto, Auburn, Calif.; a brother, Jess Lloyd Hoyle, Pryor, Okla.; his sister, Pauline Hoyle McSparren, Port Orange, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
