SULPHUR -- Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery for Robert E. McCaw, 72, with the Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating.
Born April 7, 1926, to Walter J. and Viola Myers McCaw in Davenport, McCaw died March 28, 1999 in Sulphur.
McCaw served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, later living in Carter County while working in the oil field. Leaving that work, he moved to Oklahoma City to work as a dry wall installer. He had lived in Sulphur since June 1997.
Survivors include daughters Debbie Knight, Edmond and Donna McCaw, Tuttle; sons Ronald and Walter Scott McCaw, Oklahoma City, and a sister, Yvonne Syfert, Dawsonville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
MADILL -- Services for Elizabeth Buehring, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Watts Memorial Chapel with John King officiating. Interment will be in Woodberry-Forest Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Born May 11, 1917, in Madill, Ms. Buehring died March 29, 1999, at a Madill nursing facility after a lengthy illness.
Reared in Madill, she lived in Dallas for 30 years before returning to Madill in the early 1970s, where she lived the rest of her life. She worked as an apartment manager and was employed by a local florist for several years, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Ms. Buehring is survived by granddaughters, Kim Ellis, Crescent, and Patti Ratliff, Kingston; a niece, Diane Self, Madill; and great-nephew, Bryan Self, Madill. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Johnson, in 1994; and by brothers John, Rex, Robert and Ernest Null; and by a sister, Faye Null.
Bearers will be Bryon Self, Keith Davis, Dwain Rushing, Ed Benton, Jim Gibbs and Randy Ellis. Honorary bearers are Eual Adkins, Virgil Harris, Lewis Henry Morris and Dick Johnson.
Funeral services for Billy Joe Cox, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Choates officiating. Interment will be in Loco Cemetery.
Cox, of Lone Grove, was born Dec. 17, 1923, at Cornish and died March 30, 1999, in the local hospital. The son of the late Joe Franklin and Maggie Jewel Cox, he married the former Mary Oma Bradshaw on Sept. 29, 1945, in Duncan.
He was a retired oil field worker, served in the Army during World War II and was a Baptist. He had lived in Lone Grove for the past eight years, coming from Duncan.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons, Don and Gary Joe, Lone Grove; daughters, Kay Stewart, Comanche, and Norma Melton, Honduras, Central America; a brother, Donald Cox, Duncan; sisters, Iva Jewel Bradshaw and Maxine Copley, Duncan; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Paul Melton, Eddie Copley, Dale Bradshaw, Chad Ricky and Terry Shane Cox.
A private family service will be held for Jean Elma Whaley of Mannsville.
Mrs. Whaley, 81, died March 29, 1999, in the local hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Mannsville from Bowling Green, Ohio, last year.
Survivors include a daughter, Siusan Rhyan, of Mannsville; a son, David Mark Whaley, of Montana and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Idella Webster.
Announcement was made by Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
SULPHUR -- Services for John Bailey Holmes, 92, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bob Moody and Vernon Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Holmes was born Aug. 28, 1906, at Connerville, I.T. He died April 1, 1999, at a Davis health care facility..
A son of the late Charles and Sarah Peavy Holmes, Mr. Holmes was reared at Pontotoc. He was married to Ruby Arbogast in 1934 at Madill. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Holmes attended East Central University, Ada, and lived in Konawa before moving to Sulphur in 1953. He was a public school teacher for 35 years and rancher. He was a member of the Masonic lodge for 68 years and a member of First United Methodist Church
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Millican, of Houston; a brother, Bilma Holmes, of Denver, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Bearers will be Paul Moore, Bill Williams, John Sparks, Bob and Rodney Callen and Ken Biggerstaff. G.T. "Doc" Easley and Gus Martin are honorary bearers.
Cowley-Krien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
ADA -- Services for Adam Charles Walker, 73 are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chickasaw Nation Gymnasium with Revs. Fred Cochran and Jack Vines officiating. Interment will be in High Hill Cemetery.
Walker was born Oct. 5, 1925, to Amon and Adeline Nelson Walker. He died March 31, 1999 in his home. A lifetime resident of Ada, Walker married Viola M. Miller on April 19, 1949. She preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1988.
Survivors include three sons, Gary, Adam and Johnny, Ada; five daughters, Frances Miller, Peggy Stowe, Ruby Long, all of Ada, Lois Berst, Davis and Betty Billy, Fort Smith, Ark.; two sisters, Rosie Walker, Ada, and Dorothy Colbert, Oklahoma City; 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death three brothers, Alfred, Ralph and Virgil and two grandchildren.
Services are directed by Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
Memorial services for Winfred L. "Dr. Fred" Medcalf are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.
Medcalf was born Oct. 21, 1928, to Reat I. and Anna Mae Edwards Medcalf in Tecumseh. He died on Thursday, April 1, 1999, at his residence in Ardmore. He married Patricia Sue Hensley on June 18, 1950, in Konawa.
Medcalf grew up and graduated from high school in Marlow. He went on to graduate from Pasadena City College in California, Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Medcalf was an ordained deacon and a licensed Minister of the Gospel. He was a member of the Tri-County Medical society, a life member of the Oklahoma State Medical Society and the American Medical Association as well as emeritus member of the American College of Rheumatology. He was appointed as the first Medical Missionary to Thailand by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in 1959. He and his wife served as Foreign Missionaries to Thailand until 1968. While there he helped to establish a hospital in Bangkla, Thailand. Upon his return to Ardmore he practiced medicine at the Arthritis Clinic.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of the home. Three sons, Paul I., Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Timothy W., Texarkana, Texas, Michael L. of Ardmore; two daughters Pamela S. Thompson, Roff, and Valerie L. Coffman, Healdton; nine grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill Hensley, McLoud; and one sister, Freeda Fay Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

DAVIS -- Services for Lavada Oakley, 82, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. John Beckmon and Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Born March 5, 1917, at Healdton to Charlie Grant and Kittie Nelson Rushing, she died April 3, 1999, at the Sulphur hospital. She married Roy Clifton Oakley in 1935 at Pauls Valley. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and a grandchild.
As a child Mrs. Oakley moved from Healdton to Oklahoma City where she attended Crooked Oak and Capital Hill High School. She moved to Davis in 1935 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a cook who worked at Davis schools, Camp Classen and Sooner Barbecue. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Rebecca's Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include one son, Jimmie G. Oakley; one daughter, Murlene Lewis; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Joe Tom Ayres, Randy Moore, Bobby Bumgarner, Jerry Don Fullerton, James Reading and Scott Baugh.
Services are under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.
SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Allene Martin Clear, 78, Midwest City, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Born May 22, 1920, at Waverly, Tenn., to William C. and Mary Ethel Few Martin, she died April 3, 1999, at Midwest City. She married Roy Clear, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Martin and W. C. Martin Jr.
Mrs. Clear moved to Oklahoma with her parents and graduated from Sulphur High School. After graduation she moved to Oklahoma City and became a beautician. She remained in the Oklahoma City area. She was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen Marrof, Del City, and Virginia Vann, Harrah; and two brothers, Bill Martin, Edmond, and Leroy Martin, Harrah.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Services for Effie Louise Hurte, 106, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. R. Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 13, 1892, at Birmingham, Ala., to Jeff and Callie Hurte. She was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
She united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1906, after traveling with her family to Oklahoma, Indian Territory.
With dreams as a young child of becoming a teacher, she attended elementary and high school at Ardmore. She later attended colleges in both Texas and Oklahoma. She received her degree from Langston University.
A calm, collected and dedicated teacher for Ardmore Public Schools for 42 years, she touched the lives of more than 95 percent of Ardmore's black community.
Survivors include nephews and nieces, Shirley Williams, Chicago, Maxine, Los Angeles, Joanne Tilch, Landover, Md., Timothy Wimbility, Langston, Roy Gaines, Ardmore, Darlene, New Orleans, Edward, St. Louis, and many friends and relatives.
Bearers are deacons, trustees and brotherhood. Honorary bearers are the After Six Club.
Services are under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
LONE GROVE -- No services are planned for Ernest Rudolph "Rudy" Gunther, 73, who died April 2, 1999, at Ardmore.
Gunther was born Sept. 19, 1925, at Holnstead, Germany to Richard Kurt and Martha Freida Pohl Gunther. He married Margaret Mae Walls July 26, 1947, at Detroit. She preceded him in death July 4, 1996.
Gunther came to the United States with his family as an infant. His family settled in Detroit, where he was issued his certificate of citizenship on July 12, 1943. He attended and graduated from high school in Detroit in 1943. He later attended one year of college. A veteran, Gunther served in the United States Navy during World War II. He moved to Lone Grove in June 1981, living there until the end of his life. He was employed by the Ardmore High School in maintenance, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Cooper, Lone Grove; one sister, Vickie Stone, Ardmore; and three grandchildren.
Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson, is in charge of arrangements.
LONE GROVE -- Graveside services for Johnny Joe Wood, 29, were Saturday in the Lone Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Ivy Henson officiating.
Wood was born May 26, 1969, in Oklahoma City. He died March 31, 1999, in an Ardmore health care facility.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Wood, Enid; sisters Betty Jean Ferguson, Roxie Ann Acota and Kathy Ann Henderson, all of Enid, and Jewell Daniel, Ardmore; a twin brother, Jimmy Joe, Ardmore.
His father, Gene Curry Wood, preceded him in death on May 26, 1991. He was also preceded in death by a grandmother, Lottie Juiell Wood, and a grandfather, Frank Wood.
Bearers will be Jeff Acota, Michael Henderson, Jim Daniel, Rick Ferguson, Doug and Frank Hart.
