Gertie E. Ashley
WILSON -- Services for Gertie E. Ashley, 92, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rexroat Baptist Church with the Revs. James Wigington and Montie Dean officiating. Interment will be at Hewitt Cemetery.
Mrs. Ashley was born Aug. 6, 1906 in Cheek, to J.O. and Clara Maud Erwin Taylor and died April 20, 1999.
She married Leonard Franklin Ashley on Dec. 23, 1920. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1977. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Allen, on Nov. 20, 1982; a son, James O. Ashley on Nov. 31, 1929; a grandson, Franklin Dale Ramsey, on June 26, 1997; three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the Rexroat Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Fitzsimmons, Wilson, Odean Gary, Zapata, Texas; two brothers, T.J. Taylor, Ft. Worth, Texas, O.A. Taylor, Arizona; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Benny Cartwright, Jack Cain, Robert Holloway, Verle Tolbert, J.R. Gunter and Charlie Steele. Honorary bearer is Edgar Cartwright.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Evelyn C. Barry
Funeral services for Evelyn Christine Barry, 84, were 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Revs. Roger Wood and Paul McDowell. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Miss Barry was born March 28, 1915, in Mill Creek to Homer Edward and Beulah May Hooks Barry, Sr. and died Sunday, April 18, 1999, in a local convalescent home. She lived in Ardmore since 1953, moving from Gene Autry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herman, Van and Edward Barry and sister, Peggy Ballard.
Miss Barry was a 1933 graduate of Berwyn High School and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught adult Sunday school classes and was a member of the Builders Class. She enjoyed reading and music, was the family historian and caretaker, having cared for her younger brother, sister and mother for 20 years. Evelyn had been employed with Goldner's Florist and was an Avon representative for 30 years. She enjoyed reading and music.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara J. Ross, Ardmore and Melva Meng, Lusk, Wyo.; one brother Keith Barry and his wife, Norma, Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Barry, Little Rock, Ark., and Joann Barry, Beverly, Mass.; several nieces and nephews, including Barry Ross of Ardmore.
Bearers will be Greg Pittman, Eddie Pittman, Jimmy Cox, Carson Sampley, Jimmy Gaston and Bill Nelson.
Services were under the direction of Harvey Douglas Funeral Home.

Sara W. Weigl
Graveside services for Sara Woodard Weigl, 83, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Mills officiating.
Weigl was born June 6, 1915, in Gannet, Idaho, to Samuel Franklin and Stella Woodard and died April 19, 1999, in a Tulsa hospital following an extended illness.
Weigl lived in Tulsa for four years after moving from Ardmore. While in Ardmore, she worked for Dr. Carlock as an executive secretary and was active in the First Presbyterian Church. She married August W. Weigl on Jan. 9, 1947, in Spokane, Wash. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1978.
She is survived by a daughter Adele Davis, Tulsa; one son, Greg F. Weigl of Clovis, N.M; two sisters, Florence Mellis and Arta Schraft, Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services are under the direction of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Jane Cook
HEALDTON -- Graveside services for Jane Cook, 85, were scheduled for 10 a.m. today in Mount Olive Cemetery with Roy Hannah officiating.
Mrs. Cook was born June 6, 1913, in Corsicana, Texas, to R.E. and Janie Webb Baker and died April 19, 1999, in the Healdton hospital. She received her pilot's license during World War II and flew supplies to bases across the country. She married Norman Cook on Feb. 11 1949, in Cherryville, Ore. She worked in commercial advertising for a Dallas newspaper and worked in New York as a reporter and had articles published in Reader's Digest.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 11, 1992.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two cousins.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.

Inez Dawson Escoe
KINGSTON -- Services for Inez Dawson Escoe, 78, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Stacy Escoe and Bob Gibson officiating. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore under the direction of Watts Funeral Home of Kingston.
Escoe was born on Dec. 1, 1920, in Healdton to George and Mary Melissa Shrader Dawson and died April 19, 1999, in a Durant hospital following a sudden illness.
She grew up in Ardmore and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawton. She had lived in Borger, Texas, and Lawton and had recently moved to Kingston. She married William M. Escoe, Jr. on Aug. 4, 1937 in Madill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1993. Escoe was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marylynn Escoe, and a brother, Carl Dawson.
She is survived by three sons, Rodney Escoe, Lawton, Stacy Escoe, Kingston, Gene Escoe; one brother Bobby G. Dawson, Horseshoe Bay, Texas; one sister, Nancy Hudson, Wichita Falls, Texas and 10 grandchildren.

Ladye Leona Deaton
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Ladye Leona Deaton, 92, Madill, were Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment was at Tishomingo City Cemetery.
Born Jan. 20, 1907, at Milburn, Indian Territory, to J.W. and Lola Mae Haley Earhart, she died April 19, 1999, at Madill. She married John Deaton in 1924 at Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Lou Deaton.
Mrs. Deaton graduated from Milburn High School. She had been the owner-operator of a Tishomingo locker plant and grocery store, moving to Madill 12 years ago. Mrs. Deaton was a member of the First Baptist Church and had served as church secretary for 20 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Estes, Ardmore; one brother, Kenneth Earhart, Midlothian, Texas; three sisters, Anita Ritchey, Ardmore, Mahota Fruits, Wichita, Kan. and Frances Herzer, Houston; two grandchildren, Becky Willis, Ardmore and Debbie Gibbs, Madill; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.

Irene Mead
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Irene Mead, 86, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Keith Jacobs officiating. Interment will be at the Tishomingo City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mead was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Buffalo to William and Nora Cockerel Pool and died April 20, 1999. Mead was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and lived in Tishomingo for the past 10 years after moving from California where she worked in the restaurant business. She married Grant Mead on Jan. 31, 1931. He preceded her in death.
Mead is survived by her six sons, Gene Mead, Stockton, Calif., James Mead, San Francisco, William Mead, Tishomingo, Arthur Mead, Bell Gardens, Calif., Grady Mead, Tishomingo and Norman Mead; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.

Dimpster "Dimp" Eugene Epperson
NORMAN -- Services for Dimpster "Dimp" Eugene Epperson, 83, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Primrose Chapel with Rev. David Johnson officiating.
Epperson was born March 29, 1916 in Lyn, Ark. and died April 20, 1999, in Norman. Epperson was a retired U.S. Army Colonel.
He was reared in Wilson and graduated from Zaneis High School and the University of Oklahoma. He married Helen Davidson in 1940.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linton Taylor and Gaylord Landau and one brother, Warren Alexander Epperson.
He survived by his wife, of the home; three children, Dimpster Eugene Epperson Jr., Peabody, Kan., Kraettli Quynton Epperson, Oklahoma City, Loretta Epperson Willhoite, Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

Jewel R. Keeton Davis
Graveside services for Jewel R. Keeton Davis, 81, will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Charles Biggers officiating.
Mrs. Davis was born Dec, 14, 1917, in Legate to G.C. and Anna Pearl Bishop Keeton and died April 18, 1999, in the local hospital. She married Delton Davis Sr. on Feb.14, 1934, in Indiahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, sons Michael and Thomas Davis; brothers O.H. and C.L. Keeton and sisters Wanda Sugg and Bettie Spillman.
She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church
She is survived by four daughters, Jane Coughran and Kay Kennedy, Ardmore, Bobbie Rowley and Joy Armstrong, Bakersfield, Calif.; one son, Delton Davis, Jr., Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister Pernie Wolf, Albion, Ill., one brother, A.D. Keeton, Ardmore; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Mary Cecilia Garza
Graveside services for Mary Cecilia Garza, 38 will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Father John Vrana officiating.
Garza was born May, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., to Porfirio and Manula Gonzalez and died April 21, 1999, in the local hospital.
She is survived by one daughter, Crystal Garza; two brothers, Charles Edward and Manuel Gonzales, LaCoste, Texas, and two sisters, Catherine Chaves, Irving, Texas, and Juanita Bastidas, Arlington, Texas.
Services are under the direction of the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.

Mildred Heath
SULPHUR -- Graveside services for Mildred Heath, 85, will be 4 p.m. Friday at the Oaklawn Cemetery with Revs. Cecil Bolding, Bob Moody and Vernon Lowrance officiating.
Mrs. Heath was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Sulphur to O.B. and Ada Rowark Stephens and died April 21, 1999. She married Bill E. Heath on Feb. 9, 1935, at Shawnee. She was a graduate of East Central University and along with her husband owned and operated the Sulphur Greenhouse since 1954. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Business and Professional Women's Club, Garden Club and the Canasta Club.
She was preceded in death by her son Bill E. Heath II.
Heath is survived by her husband of the home; son, Kenneth R. and his wife Sandra, Sulphur; three grandsons, Kenneth Heath, Jr. and his wife Melanie, Davis, Obie Heath and his wife Tammy, Sulphur and Jason Heath and his wife Tammy, Sulphur; two granddaughters, Michelle Heath Lawhorn and her husband Larry, Allen, Texas, Ann Heath Lindsey and her husband Troy, Texas; four great-granddaughters, Mercedes Heath, April Heath, Lindsey Lawhorn and Madison Lawhorn.
Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

Mary M. Martin
DAVIS -- Services for Mary Martin, 87, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Chapel with Bro. Thomas Thompson and the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Davis to P.L. and Cora Mae Peterson Cottrell and died April 22, 1999, in a local health care facility.
She married Marvin Clay Martin Oct. 31, 1927, in Davis. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1981. Also preceding her death were her son Billy Clay Martin, three sisters and six brothers. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Sulphur.
Martin is survived by two daughters, Joy Goodnight, Sulphur and Betty Poole, Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Melda Jean Chambers Austin
WILSON -- Services for Melda Jean Chambers Austin, 60, are pending from Alexander Funeral Home.
Austin was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Maysville to James Frank and Edna Burgess Chambers and died April 21, 1999, in Moore.
She is survived by one son, Curtis Miller, Tecumseh; one daughter, Lynn Chambers, New Orleans; five sisters, Ethel Lanham, Oklahoma City, Valeria Morganstern, Buffalo, Gloria Cole, Patsy Burks and Francil Laningham, all of Oklahoma City and two brothers, Basol and James Chambers, both of Newcastle.

John H. Hattensty
Services for John H. Hattensty, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Randy Baptiste officiating. Interment will be in McAlister Cemetery near Overbrook.
Hattensty was born Jan. 3, 1911, in Wilburton to Jesse and Maude Ami Jones Hattensty and died April 19, 1999, at a local veterans center following an extended illness. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Ribbon, AM Theater Ribon and the EAME Theater Ribbon. He married Ella Jackson who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a brother, Arthur Lee, Oregon; a sister Grace of California and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Steve Bond, Trent Cooper, Bobby, Ed, Robert and Jeremiah Palmer.
