KINGSTON -- Services for Commie Lee Reese, 94, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Watts Funeral Chapel with Bob Gibson officiating. Interment was in the Kingston Cemetery.
Reese was born Feb. 6, 1905, in Cliff to George and Sarah Walls Reese and died April 25, 1999, in a Kingston nursing home. He married Jewel Watterson in Bryan County in 1925. She preceded him in death on August 8, 1955. He later married Vetress Jones Vick, who preceded him in death in 1984. He was a long time member of the Kingston Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Reese; seven brothers, three sisters, a grandson and great-granddaughter.
He is survived by one daughter, Billie Shasteen, Denison, Texas; two sons Loyd Reese, Kingston and Vaden Reese, Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Bearers will be Cecil Miller, Jesse Reese Miller, C.O. "Odie" Reese, G.L. Reese, Ralph Jackson, Monroe Barwick, Jr., Cecil Buck and Bill Buck.
Services under the direction of the Watts Funeral Home.
RUBOTTOM -- Services for Mollie L. Blankenship, 90, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rubottom Baptist Church with Rev. Charles McConnel officiating. Interment will be in Rubottom Cemetery.
Mrs. Blankenship was born Feb. 10, 1909, in Healdton to Sam and Mary Bell Nix Taliaferro and died April 26, 1999, at a local hospital. She married S.A. "Bill" Blankenship Sr. on Dec. 25, 1926, who preceded her in death June 8, 1994. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, J.B. and Dillard Taliaferro; two sisters Minnie Bone and Burma Hartman and three grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons Billy Ray, Earl Wayne, Rubottom and Sam Blankenship Jr., Ardmore; three daughters, Patsy Thompson, Shirley Hearell, Rubottom and Peggy McConnell, Corinth, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as bearers.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
DAVIS -- Services for Melvin "Steve" Stevens, 74, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery.
Stevens was born March 3, 1925, in Adel and died April 27, 1999, in Ardmore. His parents were Clarence Stevens and Henry and Cillin Carnes Clay. He married Louise Pritchard Stevens July 8, 1960, in Oklahoma City. He served in the Marines and the Air Force during World War II was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the International Electrical Workers Union 1141. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Hutson.
His survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Velda Lowe, Chino, Calif.; three sons, Roy L. Cowan, Oklahoma City, Joe Cowan, Davis, Robert Cowan, Austin, Texas; three sisters, Aline Ward, McAlester, Virginia Smith and Dolly Batton, Clayton; two brothers, Eugene Clay, Clayton and Henry "Toady" Clay, Stringtown; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Services for Pauline Whittington, 88, are pending with Kennedy Funeral Home. Whittington died April 28, 1999.
She is survived by five sons, Robert and Vernon, Denison, Texas, James, Gainesville, Texas, Leon and David Whittington, Thackerville and one daughter, Mary Buckaloo, Marietta.
PAMPA, Texas -- Services for Roy Lee Steele, 86, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Nathan Bailey officiating. Interment will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Steele was born April 3, 1913, in Thackler, Ala., and died April 26, 1999, in Pampa. He married Alcie Bogle on March 13, 1931, in Wilson. He was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin in February 1937 and David in December 1994; one grandson, Darrell Angel in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; three daughters, Maxcine Chase, Imogene Angel and Lavern Fulton, all of Pampa; one son, Dwayne Steele, Laporte, Texas, one sister Bertie Whitmire, Tullahoma, Tenn.; one brother, Curtis Steele, Tullahoma; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Charmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Graveside services for William "Bill" Curtis, 73, were today in the Young Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Mills officiating.
Curtis was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Hector, Ark., to Monroe and Essie Eyrum Curtis and died April 24, 1999, in the veterans hospital in Oklahoma City. He was the owner and operator of B&C Pest Control and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex during World War II. He graduated from Stillwater High School and attended Oklahoma State University.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Curtis, and one sister, Wilma Sisney.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of the home; two daughters Linda Salter, Oklahoma City, and Lee Ann Bullard, Ardmore; two sisters, Lillian Leslie, Sand Springs, and Loetta Davis, Bristow; two grandchildren, Brady and Lisa Salter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were directed by Craddock Funeral Home.
LONE GROVE -- Services for Clayton Allison will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
Allison was born Oct. 6, 1945, in Ardmore to Fait and Lucille Clayton Allison and died April 26, 1999.
He was a lifelong area resident and married Mary Kinsey on Jan. 8, 1968. He had been an employee of the Uniroyal tire plant for 25 years, was a member of the Moose Lodge and former member of the Ardmore Jaycees and the Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Clay Allison, Lone Grove and Matt Allison, Ringling; one sister, Alice Love, Modesto, Calif.; four brothers, Fred Allison, Wilson, Charles Allison, Jimtown, Mike Allison, Dickson and Jerry Allison, Ardmore and several nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Steve Brown, Robert Blunt, Robert Jones, Leon Webb, Roy McMillian and Jimmy Day. Honorary bearers will be Bill Triciani, Buck Miller, Willie Roth, Robert Skinner and Earl Wallace.
Memorials may be made to the Crosstimbers Hospice.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
MADILL -- Services for James David Sandefur, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Watts Memorial Chapel with Roy Oates officiating. Interment will be in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery.
Sandefur was born June 23, 1923, in Alex and died April 25, 1999, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Reuel Sandefur. He married Tommye Jean Ray on June 28, 1946, at Fort Worth, Texas, and was a 50-year member of the American Legion, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Madill Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, David Sandefur, Lake Wood, Wash., Ray Sandefur, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Alex and Cleo Sandefur, Madill; and four grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jerry Whittle, Wayne Scribner, David Dunn, Ronald Nunley, Henry Morgan, Carol Stafford and Harry Richardson.
THACKERVILLE -- Services for Pauline Whittington, 88, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Thackerville School Auditorium with the Rev. Wallace Stringer and the Rev. Selby McMurtrey officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Whittington was born Dec. 27, 1910, in Marietta to George and Mattie Shoemaker Sifford and died April 27, 1999. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Thackerville.
She married Robert E. Whittington on Oct. 31, 1929, who preceded her in death on May 21, 1991. Also preceding her in death were a son, Charles Whittington; two daughters, Louise Woodring and Willie Mae Birkhead; two brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by five sons, Robert and Vernon Whittington, Denison, Texas, James Whittington, Gainesville, Texas, Leon and David Whittington, Thackerville; a daughter, Mary Buckaloo, Marietta; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Charlie, Dana, Jerry, Bryan, Jimmy, Corey and David Whittington and Dennis Birkhead.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy Funeral Home in Marietta, where services are being directed.
MARIETTA -- Services for George T. "Tommy" Young, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Young was born July 8, 1907, in Tuskahoma, Indian Territory, to Mike and Dona Baxely Young, and died April 27, 1999, in the Ardmore hospital following an illness.
Young married Alpha O Runnels on Dec. 24, 1929, in Madill. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Courtney. He worked in the oilfields, farmed and raised cattle, and planted the first commercial crop of peanuts in Western Love County. He retired from farming in 1982, moving to Marietta.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Joe Young; four brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Haskell Young, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Wanda Smith, Burkburnett, Texas, and Kathie Taliaferro, Stillwater; two sisters, Gladys Daugherty, Gainesville, Texas, and Jean Dillard, Duncan; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Brent Taliaferro, Mark Taliaferro, Larry Blankenship, Jason Taliaferro, Edwin Smith Jr. and Gene Jackson. Honorary bearers are R.B. Romines, Jack Yocum, Harold Lester, Cotton Grant, James Glenn and Tankie Sivey.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Graveside rites for Betty Irene Butler, 69, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lone Grove Cemetery with the Rev. David Gardner officiating.
Born Dec. 2, 1929 at Wichita, Kan. to Charles and Daisy Motto Williams, she died April 27, 1999 at an El Reno hospital.
Mrs. Butler worked as a nurse's aide at various hospitals throughout her life.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Campo, Lone Grove, and Sharon Hunter, Fort Supply; two sons, Gary and David Butler, both Wichita; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel, Lone Grove.
Services for Clair "Babe" Ferrell, 74, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rankin Funeral Home, Salem, Ill. with the Rev. Bill Herald officiating. Interment will follow at Phillips Cemetery, rural Omega, Ill.
Born June 15, 1924 at Clay City, Ill. to John and Mabel Beard Delonshaw, who preceded her in death, she died April 26, 1999 at an Ardmore hospital. She married Noah "Jack" Ferrell Aug. 23, 1943 at Clay City. He preceded her in death June 25, 1996. She was also preceded in death by sons, Richard Dean and Robert Gene Ferrell and a grandson, Gregory Ferrell.
Mrs. Ferrell was a housekeeper and attended Bible Baptist Church, Salem.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald "Gary" and Doris Ferrell, Salem, Terry and Brenda Ferrell, Lone Grove, and Larry and Earlene Ferrell, Salem; one brother, Louis Delonshaw, Clay CIty; grandchildren, D'Angela Hughes, Shawnda Wood, Shane Ferrell, Michaelle Knott, Shawn Ferrell, Wendy Reincke, Sarah Beth, Larry Jr. and Jonathan Ferrell; and great-grandchildren, Cuyand Jay Lambert, Colton and Gavein Wood; and Greg, Krisha and Adam Hughes.
Local arrangements were made by Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Services for Garland Eugene "Gene" Fair, 51, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with Masonic graveside rites will be in the Provence Cemetery.
Fair was born March 30, 1948 to Thomas and Rose Fair and died April 27, 1999 in an Oklahoma City hospital. He married Gracie Matthews March 30, 1990. A supervisor and 29-year employee of the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services, he was of Baptist faith, member of Masonic Lodge #31 AF & AM, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth Rose Fair, Corpus Christi, Texas.; one brother, Marshall Frank, Midwest City.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Jerry Don Moore, 37, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment was in the Tishomingo City Cemetery.
Moore was born Jan. 29, 1962, in Coalgate to Theadore Edward Moore and Viola Hatter Stephenson and died April 27, 1999. Moore attended Springer High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his father, mother and her husband, Tom; two sisters, Jena Welding, Madill, and Reagen Moore, Pomona, Calif.; and one grandfather, Frank Hatter, Madill.
