Services for Lois E. Stephens will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Dr. Virgil Trout officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stephens was born Sept. 19, 1906, in Texas, to William J. and Margaret Cenith Tyler. She died Feb. 5, 1999 in a local health care facility.
She married Houston Stephens Dec. 18, 1924, at Brady, Texas and was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, March 15, 1994; and a son, Ernest, in 1992.
Survivors include sons, Bill, Lone Grove, and Gene L., Dyersburg, Tenn.; daughter, Marguerite F. Benson, Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be Ben Andrews, Bob, Mike, Gary, Shane and Joseph Stephens.
POOLEVILLE -- Graveside rites for Noel D. Anderson Sr., Pruitt City, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pooleville Cemetery with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.
Anderson died Feb. 6, 1999 in the Ardmore hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Love County, to Will and Rosa Anderson.
He served in the Navy During World War II and was a retired oil field worker. He had lived all his life in this area.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Jean, Duncan, Shirley Jo, Truckee, Calif., and Sandy, San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Noel Jr., Conway, Ark., Tommy D., and Warren D., California; and two sisters, Lynell Self and Nelda Honeyton, also of California. He was preceded in death by six sisters; and four brothers.
Milburn Funeral Home, Ratliff City, will direct services.
DAVIS -- Services for Charles H. Meadows Jr., formerly of Davis, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Main Church of Christ with Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Meadows died Feb. 7, 1999, in the Norman hospital. He was born June 3, 1925, at Eagle Lake, Fla., to Charles and Clara J. Darnell Meadows.
He moved to Davis in 1953 and was a member of the East Main Church of Christ. He had lived in Norman several years.
He is survived by a sister, Vivian Mobley, Dallas; and brother, Jerome, Culver City, Calif.
Bearers will be Jack Fox, Howard, Mitchell, Wade Brown, Wilford Lewis, John Huggins and Buck Howard.
Services for Carrie Lou Campbell, 80, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Fite officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born Oct. 31, 1918 at Leo, Texas to Bird and Bertha Burk Moss, she died Feb. 6, 1999 at her residence after an extended illness.
She married Rosecoe Joseph Campbell Dec. 28, 1939 at Gainesville, Texas. They moved from Gainesville to Ardmore in 1951, where they raised they family. She and her husband were active members of the Lone Grove Senior Citizens Center and members of the Southwest Baptist Church. She was well known for her quick wit an love of people.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Wanda Pratt and her husband, George, Lone Grove; Katty Lane, and her husband, R.E., Dallas, and Brenda Campbell, Dallas; one son, Kent Campbell, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Wayne Moss, Decatur, Texas and J.R. Moss, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Doug Cude, Louie Hattensty, Wythe Munford, Mike Keeton, Jimmy Moss and Sammy Puckett. Honorary bearers are Freeman Blakenship, Freddie Gordon, Joe Campbell, Cecil Campbell, Vernon Denny and Johnny Jackson.
Private services for Hazel Marr, 77, were held Feb. 6, 1999 at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Murray officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Nov. 11, 1921 to Sam and Lessie Love, she died Feb. 3, 1999 at a local health care facility. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Marr.
Mrs. Marr lived in Ardmore all of her life. She was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include three sons, Chelsea Marr, Lone Grove. A.W. Marr, Ardmore, Leonard Marr, Dallas; two daughters, Peggy Simpler and Darla Bryant, Lone Grove; one brother, Herman Love and one sister, Juanita Reynolds, Modesto, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers were grandsons, Jeff, Greg, Brad, Chad, Bryan and Matt Marr, David Simpler and Craig Hoke.
RINGLING -- Services for Lola Fuller Marquardt, 98, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Brother Burt Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Marlow Cemetery, Marlow.
Born April 17, 1900 at Burneyville, Indian Territory, to Plez and Annie Phelps Davis, she died Feb. 5, 1999 at a Ringling nursing facility after an extended illness. She married Sam Fuller in 1927. He preceded h er in death in 1961. On May 3, 1968 she married Howard Marquardt at Iowa Park Texas and then moved to Ringling.
Mrs. Marquardt had lived in Love County for over 50 years before moving to Marlow.
Survivors include her husband of the home, nieces and nephews.
Bearers are Lyndell Awtrey. J.C. Awtrey, Hershel Wooley, Richard Wooley, R.T. Longest and Tony Lyles.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
THACKERVILLE -- Graveside rites for Ira Beryl Bettis, 89, Gainesville, Texas will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Cemetery with Randall Tyler officiating.
Born Feb. 25, 1909 at Abilene, Texas to Abb Rufus and Nannie Emaline Kelly Bettis, he died Feb. 5, 1999 at a Gainesville hospital. He married Martha McCage Feb. 14, 1961 at Sherman, Texas. She preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 1975. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Lou Dorn, 1998, and Elizabeth Rone, 1987.
For the past five years Bettis had lived at Gainesville, but for most of his life he lived at Thackerville. He was a retired farmer. Bettis was of the Jehovah Witness faith.
Survivors include one brother, L. T. Bettis, San Antonio, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home of Marietta.
LOCO -- Services for Henry M. Hurst, 88, Pinto, were Saturday at Loco Baptist Church with the Rev. Woody Woodall officiating. Interment followed at Dixie Cemetery.
Born Nov. 5, 1910 at Waurika to Garrett N. and Della Stevens Hurst, he died Feb. 4, 1999 at an Ardmore hospital after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Don Hurst, on May 29, 1997; and a daughter, Beverly Susan Cline, in 1982.
Hurst lived all of his life in the Pinto area. He was a rancher. He married Mary Lucille Muse Dec. 17, 1932 in the middle of an intersection on the Stephens-Jefferson County line.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Vernon Hurst, Tishomingo, Glen Hurst, Pinto, and Lynn Hurst, Pinto; three daughters, Wynelle Hatchett, Arlington, Texas, Shirley Gibson, Parker, Colo., and Cleta Anderson, Friendswood, Texas; one sister, Opal Walker, Alvardo, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bearers were grandsons, Tony Hatchett, Steven Hurst, Brian Hurst, Michael Hurst, Gary Lee Cline and Joyle Hurst. Honorary bearers were Craig Hurst, Justin Hurst, Wayne Hurst, Glen Hurst, Larry Hurst, Bradley Hurst and Rayburn Ritter.
Services were under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Services for Warren C. Chilcoat will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Chilcoat was born April 25, 1910, at Wewoka, to Walter and Hattie Duckworth Chilcoat. He died Feb. 3, 1999, in the local hospital.
He married Orlena Kuykendoll in Oklahoma City May 24, 1932. He attended mortuary college at the Williams Institute in Kansas City, Mo., in 1932. He was a retired funeral director and aircraft mechanic with the Civil Service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Ronald, Ardmore; two brothers, Jimmy, Albuquerque, N.M., and Donald, Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Eva Scott, Ardmore, and Laverne Nichols, Sulphur; and a granddaughter.
Bearers will be Larry, Russell and Rodney Hobbs, James Wilson, Gerald Rodgers and David Isbell.
MILO -- Services for Juanita "Neet" Lee, 79, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jehovah Baptist church in Milo with the Rev. W.J. Wallace and Theodore Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Oil Springs Cemetery, Tatums.
Mrs. Lee was born Feb. 1, 1920, to Tilroe and Gertrude Franklin Stevenson. She died Feb. 2, 1999, in a local health care facility.
A lifetime resident of Carter County, she married Lathie Lee in 1940, and was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four sons, Baby Lee, Isaac, Justin and Willie Ray; two brothers, Tilroe Jr. and Walter; four sisters, Lora Gildon, Opal Lax, Lois Miller and Effie M. Shaw.
She is survived by her husband; seven sons, J.C., Conway, Ark., Henry Lee, Lone Grove, Lathie Jr. and MacArthur, Milo, Robert, Phoenix, Ariz., Ollie Ray, Del City, and Bennie, Ardmore; two daughters, Cleta Lee, Ardmore, and Geneva Wright, Milo; two brothers, Louis Stevenson, Ardmore, and Theodus Stevenson, Frederick; a sister, Louise Wrenn, Ardmore; 62 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home will direct services.
MARIETTA -- Services for Beulah Burkhart Alagood, 95, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, Thackerville.
Born Sept. 15, 1903, at Bomar, to Eunice I. and Ellie Gordon Burkhart, Mrs. Alagood died Feb. 3, 1999, in the Norman hospital.
A lifetime resident of Marietta, she married Oscar Milas Alagood April 11, 1930, at Tishomingo, and was a homemaker and secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dec. 19, 1984; a son, Oscar Laverne; four brothers, S.B., Todd, E.C "Grandpappy," and R.W. "Wheat" Burkhart; and two sisters, Mary White and Mahota Burkhart.
Survivors include two sons, Milas, Oklahoma City, and Robert, Denton, Texas; a daughter, Mary U. Hardin, Norman; three brothers, Ira Burkhart, Fort Worth, Texas, W.B. "Bunch" and George Burkhart, Marietta; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jesse Kirk, Rex and Harold White, David, Rick, Bob and Vonder "Pete" Burkhart.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Kennedy Funeral Home.
SULPHUR -- Services for Willie J. "Bill" Jones, 92, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home chapel, Sulphur, with the Rev. Finis Steelman and Lynn Jones officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Jones died Feb. 4, 1999, in the Pauls Valley hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1906, at Coalgate, Indian Territory, to R.T. and Dollie Payne Jones.
He married Mable Ellen Darnell Jan. 16, 1932, and moved to Cherry Valley, Ark. He returned to Davis in 1934 and had lived and farmed in this area since that time. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Royce, Dick and Don, all of Davis; five daughters, Christ Boydston, Ardmore, Doris Jones, Wanda Watson, Brenda McCurry and Francis Garrison, Davis; two sisters, Goldie Hambright, Alabama, and Jewel Hogan, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be grandsons, Jason McCurry, Tony Watson, Rod and Stan Jones, Don, Buddy and Travis Boydston.
RYAN --Services for Beartha Maness, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Paul Ratliff and Addie Williams officiating. Interment will be at Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Grantham-Worley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Maness was born July 28, 1912, at Sunset, Texas. She died Feb. 3, 1999, in the Waurika hospital.
Reared in Sunset, she married James H. Maness Sept. 15, 1931, at Waurika and they farmed in the Ryan area before moving to Ringling in 1958. Her husband died in May 1967, and in 1998 she moved to Ryan.
Survivors include three sons, Monroe, Rock Island, Ill., Bill, El Reno, and David, Arlington, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
