Funeral services for Mildred Estella Ashley, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Steven Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery.
Born Dec. 15, 1917, at Graham, Okla., to James Hogg and Eula Mae High Pruitt, Mrs. Ashley died June 25, 1999, in a local nursing home.
She married James Preston ³Shorty² Ashley Dec. 1, 1930, at Wheeler, and was a former seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Feb. 14, 1994; a daughter, Loice Ashley; a grandson; granddaughter; great-grandson; two sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by four sons, Roy and Gary Don Ashley, Newport, James ³Tip² Ashley, Lone Grove, and Preston Ashley, Kellyville; two daughters, Joyce Lobdell, Oklahoma City, and Judy Matthews, Springer; two brothers, Oscar Pruitt, Taft, Calif., and George Pruitt, Hamblin, Texas; a sister, Norma Miller, Wellington, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Fred Wright, Eddy Wayne Merritt, Eugene Christian, Anthony Bosmans, Jimmy Hammer and Jesse Hornebeck. Honorary bearers are Mark Merritt and Danny Worchester.
JIMTOWN -- Services for Dorothea Marie Hicks, 90, Marietta, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jimtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Vinson officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks was born March 6, 1909, at Leon, to Earl and Julia T. Wooldridge Harris. She died June 16, 1999, in Marietta.
Reared at Leon and Jimtown, she married George M. Hicks Sr. Sept. 15, 1928, at Jimtown, and was a longtime member of Jimtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband April 14, 1977; a daughter, Ozella Marie; a son, James D., in 1982; two sisters, Flossie Blakley and Maxine Harris; four brothers, Sam, Howard, John and Earl Harris Jr.; and a grandson.
Survivors include a daughter, Daroleen Buckner, Marietta; three sons, George ³Bugs,² Marietta, Roscoe, Jimtown, and Billy, Knoxville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons, Steve, Bryce and Dillon Bell, Steve Calhoun, Devon Hicks, Lucian Raymond, Bob Shears, Wayland Webb, Billy, Ricky and Aron Hicks, Brent Lemons, Quentin Buckner and Dewayne Riley.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Ollie Thurman, 85, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain View.
Mrs. Thurman was born Jan. 9, 1914, at Mountain View, to Thomas Virgil and Sarah Elizabeth McKenzie Law. She died June 27, 1999, in Tishomingo where she had lived the past 50 years.
Reared in Mountain View, she attended school and married James Paul Thurman there Sept. 28, 1935. She moved from Bristow to Tishomingo in 1949. She had been an Avon representative almost 50 years and was a very dedicated saleslady. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Melvin and Wesley Law; and five sisters, Lucille Petty, Irene Law, Joyce Clark, Geneva Allen and Doris J. Clark.
Survivors include a son, Leon Thurman, and wife, Paula, of Guthrie; a daughter, Sandra Copeland, and husband, Jerry, of Tishomingo; a brother, Woodrow Law of Alameda, Calif.; four sisters, Lavelle Chapman of Lakewood, Colo., Virgie Grigsby of San Leandro, Calif.; Juanita Cruger of El Paso, Texas, and Ruby Loyd of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Alan Copeland, Scott Thurman, Stacy Thurman, Chris White, Julie Thurman, Cindy White and Natalie Copeland. Honorary bearer is Tommy Quaid.
Visitation will be until 8 tonight at Corbin Funeral Home.
MINCO -- Services for former Ringling resident Helen Louise Smith, 98, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Minco First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Scott officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 10, 1900, in Lorton, Neb., to Christian and Caroline Mannschreck. She died June 28, 1999, in El Reno.
She moved from Apache to Ringling in 1941, to Lawton in 1989 and to Minco in 1993. She was a former cook at Ringling and Mountain Home schools. She was preceded in death by her husband William Lewis Smith Feb. 3, 1953; two sons, William E., in 1986, and James L., in 1994; four sisters, Minnie Reiss, Lillie Albers, Clara Lambert and Selma Young; two brothers, Karl and George Mannschreck; a grandson; and great-granddaughter.
Survivors include three sons, Harold, Minco, Dale, Ringling, and Lavon, Lone Grove; two daughters, Irma Richardson, Lawton, and Carolyn Welch, Ulysses, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home will direct services.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Robin "Rube" McCarthick, 41, Norman, were scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth McCarthick officiating. Interment followed at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn.
Born May 8, 1958, at Tishomingo, McCarthick died June 24, 1999, in Norman. He graduated from high school in Noble, Okla., in 1976 and attended Oklahoma City Community College. He was a carpenter of the Baptist faith.
Robin is survived by his parents, Jim and Sheila McCarthick of Norman; two brothers, Michael McCarthick of Poulsbo, Wash., and Toby McCarthick of Norman; and sister, Kimberly Goldshot of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Bearers will be Stevie Paul Warden, Josh McCarthick, Jimmy Ray McCarthick, Clendon Kirkpatrick, Dusty Lane, Bob Disheroon, Dan Kite, Charles Kite, Drew McCarthick and Hal Kirkpatrick.
DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Marie Lorraine Black, 55, were at 10:30 a.m. today at Antioch Cemetery with Father Timothy Fuller officiating.
Mrs. Black was born Aug. 30, 1943, at Central Falls, R.I., to Leo J. and Irene E. Turgen Noury. She died June 27, 1999, in Ardmore.
She married Kenneth Black Nov. 22, 1989, in Clinton and had lived in Davis since 1965.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Elaine T. Hines, Lindsay; a son, Walter L. Vineyard, Davis; a sister, Helen Cooney, Smithville, R.I., a brother, Dan Noury, Greenville, R.I., and seven grandchildren. Fox Funeral Home directed services.
JONES -- Graveside rites for Frankie Jean Goodwin, 67, Choctaw, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mrs. Goodwin was born Oct. 10, 1931, at Berwyn, to W.T. and Lillian L. Adams West. She died June 28, 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley, of the home; five children, Jeanie Alto and Terri Prichett, Hemet, Calif., Randy Marsh, Yucaipa, Calif., Marty Marsh, Midwest City, and Kristi Kester, Jones; a brother, L.D. West; and two sisters, Lona Warner and Lottie Vineyard, all of Ardmore; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, will direct services.
HURST, Texas -- Services for Ardmore native Doris Love Vieroski, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville, Texas.
Mrs. Vieroski died June 28, 1999, in Bedford, Texas. She was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Ardmore. She was a former bookkeeper/secretary.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, William Vieroski Jr., Hurst; son, Patrick Cotton, N. Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Vicki Ottensman, Euless, Texas; brother, Joyce Love; and two sisters, Ella M. Hawley and Etta Gilliam, all of Ardmore; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
HEALDTON -- Graveside services for William Able Chase Holbrook, infant son of Greg and Robin Holbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Christian officiating.
The baby was born and died June 29, 1999, in the Ardmore hospital.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two sisters, Tessa D. and Chelsie N.; and brother, Bobby C., all of the home; grandparents, Debbie and Wayne Miller, Lone Grove, Brenda and Bobby Hickman, Atoka, Billy Holbrook, Springer, and Deann Holbrook Sulphur; and great-grandmothers, Dortha Smith, Atoka, and Roberta Chase, Healdton.
Reser Funeral Home will direct services.
BLUE -- Services for Joe B. Frazier, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Blue Baptist Church with Ray Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Blue-Seeley Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Tishomingo.
Frazier was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Johnston County, to Fletcher W. and Lela Greenwood Frazier. He died June 28, 1999, in the Ardmore hospital.
He served in the Air Force during World War II and had been a Sunday school teacher, director and deacon at Blue Baptist Church more than 30 years. He was also a member of the Chi-Ka-Sha Baptist Association board of directors. He and Ruth Stick were married Nov. 25, 1943, at Ada. He was preceded in death by a son Derry Lee, Sept. 29, 1961; a sister, Velma Frazier, Sept. 8, 1986, and brother, James, Dec. 26, 1986.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; 11 children, Linda Isenberg and Wanda Martin Sunmerville, S.C., Joe Jr., Chandler, Ariz., Leonard, Weleetka, Nick and Sherman, Tishomingo, Sherry Nail, Ada, Belvin, Muskogee, Neva Bond, Ada, Willard, Broken Bow, and Robert, of the home; two sisters, Marie Underwood and Laura Jones; and a brother, Thomas, all of Oklahoma City; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
His sons will serve as bearers. Honorary bearers will be sons-in-law.
Graveside rites for Lyndal Fletcher Tyer, 82, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Dr. Wade Paschal officiating.
Mrs. Tyer was born April 14, 1917, at Mesquite, Texas, to A.B. and Rebecca M. Hardy Fletcher. She died July 1, 1999, in the local hospital.
She married S.W. Tyer Jr. July 9, 1939, at Pampa, Texas, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, William G., Ardmore; a daughter, Jan Lampkin, Gene Autry; a sister, Geraldine Lewis, Brownfield, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
MARIETTA -- Funeral services for Frank L. Powers will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with Sister Parlee Russell officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Powers was born July 29, 1951, at Wilson, to John L. and Peggy Marie Smith Powers. He passed away Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at a residence south of Marietta at the age of 47 years, 11 months and one day.
Mr. Powers had lived most of his life in Love County. He married Nancy Cranmore on Dec. 25, 1971, in Marietta. He formerly served in the National Guard, and was a forklift driver at Uniroyal-Goodrich tire plant where he had worked the past 24 years. He served as captain of the Love County Reserve Deputies as was a member of Marietta Volunteer Fire Department the past 10 years. He was also a member of Love County Mule Club and Emergency Response Team at Uniroyal. He was a Protestant. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Faith Marie Powers.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Casandra and Jason Barber, Marietta, and Evelyn Powers, of the home; four brothers, Harlon and Buddy Powers, Gainesville, Texas, Raymond and John Wayne Powers, Thackerville; and four grandchildren, Taylor Barber, Faith Powers, Cody Barber and Noah Barber.
Bearers will be Larry Hice, Danny Wilson, Dennis Thurman, Harold Lukenhan, Dennis Baker and Marty Grisham. Honorary bearers are Paul Riley, J.D. Brewer, Paul Lott, Fayrond Balch, all members of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department, Love County Reserves and Sheriff's Department.
Memorials may be made to the Love County Reserve Deputies.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Kennedy Funeral Home.
Services for Edna Shoemaker, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born Oct. 14, 1918, at Brock, to William J. and Madlina Baptiste Farve. She died June 29, 1999, in Philadelphia, Miss.
A resident of the Ardmore area most of her life, she married Austin C. Shoemaker here June 29, 1933, and was an instructional aide for the Bureau of Indian Affairs before she retired in 1982. She taught Sunday school to 4-year-olds at First Baptist Church 31 years. She had lived in Philadelphia since 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Murray, Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.
Bearers will be John McCulley, Barry Jim, Thomas Jim Jr., Cory Prince, Randy, Craig and Jerry Parnacher.

Services for Grady Wallace Tidwell, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ with Dr. Virgil Trout and Roy Hannah officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Tidwell was born March 15, 1921, at Cheyenne, to Francis and Naomi Tidwell. He died July 1, 1999, in the local hospital.
He served in the Army during World War II and married Eunice Tibbles Sept. 23, 1945, at Wichita, Kan. He retired from Western Welding Supply Co. after 33 years of service and was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Bob, Highland Village, Texas, and Jerry, Eustis, Fla.; a daughter, Kathy Johnston, Richardson, Texas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Bearers will be Bo Fore, Bill Barton, Bill Bowden, Noble Small, Clyde High and Mark Wiley.
