WYNNEWOOD -- Graveside rites for Juanita Aillene Johnson, 76, Milfay, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating.
Born Aug. 11, 1923, at Short to Jack and Armenta Hammers Rogers, she died April 14, 2000, at a local hospital. She married Leonard Johnson April 15, 1941, at Muskogee. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Don Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson had lived at Milfay for more than 30 years, moving from California. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Campbell, Ardmore, and Anita Richards, Modesto, Calif.; one son, Bill Johnson, Dallas, Ore.; one sister, Julia Taylor, Aberhill, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Rick, David, Mike and Garrett Campbell.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Memorial services for Glenn Keller "Archie" Jones, were Friday.
Born June 10, 1948, at Shawnee to Jerry and Wendell Keller Jones, he died March 12, 2000, at a San Jose, Calif., hospital. Jones went to elementary school at Ardmore and later moved to Shawnee. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard refueling ships during the Vietnam War. When he returned he married Mary Chastain and lived at San Jose.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, David; two daughters, Shelia and Sandy; and four grandchildren, all of San Jose.
Services were under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Services for Vernon R. Mitchell, 84, are pending at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Mitchell died April 14, 2000, at the local veterans center.
Services for Ardmore resident Marvin Bamburg are pending with Craddock Funeral Home.
Bamburg was born Jan. 8, 1936, and died April 15, 1999.
Graveside services for LeRoy Martin Springsteen, 82, Oklahoma City, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Feb. 28, 1918, at Davenport, Iowa, to Cecil and Lydia Phillup Springsteen, he died April 13, 2000, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was married to Vivian Weaver 58 years before she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son.
He lived in Oklahoma City 25 years, moving from Davenport.
Survivors include a son, Larry Springsteen, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Lydia Hembree, Ardmore and eight grandchildren.
Craddock Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Services for Marvin K. Bamburg, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at Provence Cemetery.
Bamburg was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Ardmore, to W.L. and Ethel Blanton Bamburg. He died April 15, 2000, in the local hospital.
A resident of this area most of his life, he served 11 years in the Air Force, attaining the rank of sergeant. He had played in the Kenny and Westerners bands the past 25 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billie and Randy; and a sister, Betty Joe Smith; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Bamburg, Talihina, Vickie Pace, Dorothy Theriot and Tammy Ray, all of Ardmore; two sons, Kenny and Jason, also Ardmore; two sisters, Dorothy Lee, Lone Grove, and Nancy Bamburg, Ardmore; a brother, Curtis; also Ardmore; 26 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Shawn D. Laney, Willie Burchett, Jeff George, Terry Ray, Harold and Earl Pace.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
RINGLING -- Services for Shirley Darlene Fox, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the 9th Street Church of Jesus Christ with the Rev. Daniel Woods officiating. Interment will be at Orr Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fox was born Aug. 29, 1937, near Union Hill, to William C. and Lillie M. Bennett Camplain. She died April 16, 2000, in the Ardmore hospital.
Reared in Union Hill, she had been a resident of this area most of her life. She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Madewell Sept. 19, 1972; and brother, Billie Camplain, Oct. 10, 1988.
She is survived by four daughters, Vicky Camplain, Healdton, Glenda Owens, Grady, Retha Cook and Renay Skelton, Healdton; a brother, Cole Camplain, Ringling; three sisters, Doris Hawkins, Dortha Hodges and Dolores Stewart, all of Ringling; and a grandson.
Bearers will be Larry and Gary Hawkins, Mike Stewart, Calvin Perkins, Ricky, Bill and Steve Camplain.
Services for Mary Alice Hinchey, 92, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Popejoy officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis.
Born March 21, 1908, at Davis to H.A. and Margaret E. Riley Hinchey, she died April 13, 2000, at a local hospital. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Osa Mae Armstrong and Laura Jane Smith.
Raised at Davis, Mrs. Hinchey moved to Ardmore in 1943. She had worked for B & L Jewelry as a sales clerk. She was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Scruggs, Ardmore; one nephew, Harvey Smith, Del City; one great-nephew, Brian Read; and two great-nieces, Rhonda Bray and Sharon Bolding, both Lone Grove.
Bearers are David Reavis, James Meece, Ron Byrd, Mark Johnson, Scott Saner, and Brian Smith.
DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Otis "O.J." Pierce, 89, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. today at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.
Pierce was born June 5, 1910, at Woodford, to Ben T. and Loretta Thomasson Pierce. He died April 15, 2000, in Lawton.
He married Johnnie Rogers Pierce Dec. 3, 1932, in Lawton, and was a cowboy and rancher.
Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine McCurtain, Ardmore, and Barbara Kern, Cache; three sons, James, Keysville, Ga., Ralph, Orange Park, Fla., and Lee roy, Davis; two sisters, Katherine Burdick, Ardmore, and Pauline Covington, Wynnewood; a brother, Lloyd, Peoria, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dec. 17, 1992; a son Keith; five brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.
Fox Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Louis Melton Taylor, 65, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Fellowship Assembly Church with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Taylor was born May 15, 1934, at Hot Springs, Ark., to Oscar and Brinkley Rhea Taylor. He died April 14, 2000, in Oklahoma City.
He was an Army veteran and employed as a truck driver. He and Betty Ann Householder were married March 21, 1985.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; seven daughters, Diane Dziewanowksi, Darlene Coberly, Sharon Shanholtzer, all of Sulphur, Dana White, Davis, Georgia Brown and Marquita Brown, Albion, and Becky Kepley, Ohio; four sons, Guy Taylor, Weatherford, Mel Taylor and Daniel Jones, Sulphur, and Scott Taylor, Moore; 29 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Services for James R. "Jim" Benton, 61, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Interment will be at Keller Cemetery, west of Ardmore, Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Benton was born Jan. 10, 1939, at Healdton, to Leo and Ruby Benton. He died April 15, 2000, at his home.
He graduated from Freer High School and Del Mar Technical Institute, and served in the Air Force. He started the biomedical department at Baptist Hospital where he worked 18 years, and at Fountains and Centerbury.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle, Piedmont; children, Valerie Spoonemore and Brett Benton, Oklahoma City; his mother, Ruby Benton, Ardmore; brother, Joe; and several grandchildren.
Services for Clifford Pickens Jr. 46, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery.
Pickens was born Nov. 10, 1953, in Ardmore, to Lillian and Clifford Pickens Sr. The Navy veteran died April 12, 2000, in the local veteran's center.
He is survived by two daughters, Monte Beard, Ardmore, and Stacie Pickens, Tulsa; his mother, Lillian Pickens; and two brothers, Michael Pickens and Clint Vernon, all of Ardmore; a sister, Karen Carter, Victorville, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James, March 19, 1984.
Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Tawaney Dee Prather, 37, are pending from Craddock Funeral Home. She died April 16, 2000, in the local hospital following a motorcycle accident.
Survivors include two daughters, DeJon Knapp and Ashley D. Knapp, of the home; a stepson, Jared L. Knapp, Shepherd, Texas; her mother, Elizabeth Long; stepfather, Terry Long; and grandfather, Jesse Long, all of Lone Grove; two sisters, Shelly Long, Stillwater, and Debbie Crelia, Lone Grove; and brother, Shane Long, Lone Grove.
Services for Carl Lewis are pending from Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home. He died April 16, 2000, in Dallas.
WILSON -- Graveside rites for Vivian Catherine Crouch, 89, Bonham, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hewitt Cemetery with the Revs. Harold Brown and Albert Harris officiating.
Mrs. Crouch was born March 23, 1911, at Madill, to Calvin A. and Addie M. Harvey Oakley. She died April 15, 2000, in Denison, Texas.
Reared in Fletcher, she married Claud Bryant Crouch in 1933, at Nocona, Texas, and they lived in Wilson until 1954. They moved to Sunset, La., lived there ten years, returned to this area, and moved to Bonham in 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband June 10, 1984; a daughter, Hazel, in 1936; and sons, Raymond, in 1937.
Survivors include daughters, Belva J. Lefler, Lewisville, Texas, Velva R. Douglas, Elkhart, Texas, Gayzell D. Brown, Bonham, Adell D. Dickson, Amarillo, Texas, Eveline J. Simon, Cleburne, Texas, Wilma D. Guilbeau, Houston, Corrine Guilbeau, Durant, and Janet C. Brown, Ardmore; a son, David, The Colony, Texas; two brothers, Lawrence Oakley, Lawton, and Lon Oakley, Dallas; 27 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
COUNTYLINE -- Services for Eual Monroe Conditt, 85, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Countyline Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Ward officiating. Interment will be at Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Grantham Funeral Home.
Conditt was born July 29, 1915, at Roberta to James B. and Janie Kuykendall Conditt. He died March 6, 2001, at Countyline.
Married to Loetta Jo Bland on June 29, 1935, he served with the Navy during World War II and worked for Mobil Oil Company 44 years before he retired in 1981. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 19, 1999.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Jan Wilson, Duncan, Anita Jones, Ratliff City, Eual Jr., Wichita, Kan., Rita Bell, Rapid City, S.D., and James, Athens, Texas; a brother, J.B., Bartlesville; two sisters, Hazel Childers, Tulsa, and Eunice Manes, Irving, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Dusty and Mickey Pruitt, Henry Wilson, Paul, Michael and Charlie Conditt.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, Oklahoma City.
CONNERVILLE -- Services for LeRoy C. Culberson, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Temple of God Church with the Rev. Nelson Baken and Charlie Carter officiating. Interment will be at Seely-Blue Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Home. A wake service is scheduled at 7 p.m. this evening at the church.
Born April 28, 1936, in Connerville to Eldon and Nora Wisdom Culberson, he died March 3, 2001, in Tishomingo.
Raised in the Connerville area, he lived in eastern Oklahoma many years before returning to Johnston County. He was a laborer and had attended the Seely Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Lee, Latta; three daughters, Arlinda Tso, Seminole, Clarice Culberson, Wewoka, and Beverly Culberson, Stroud; a sister, Alene Hallmark, Tishomingo; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kelly Snow and Ruby Johnson.
Bearers will be Jimmy Morgan, Kenneth and Benny Culberson, Ray Howard and Kirby and Scott Alberson.
