Services for Eugene Albert Vaile, 79, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ivy Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 29, 1920, at Hickman Mills, Mo., to Allen B. and Bertha L. Meyer Vaile, he died April 13, 2000, at a local hospital.
He married Virginia Sarah Pittman on Dec. 2, 1943, at Ardmore.
An Ardmore resident for more than 40 years, Vaile had moved away on several occasions. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a retired mechanic and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons Donald Gene and his wife, Sherry Vaile, Lone Grove, and Roger Vaile, Ardmore; one daughter, Debra June and her husband, Richard Creecy, Ardmore; one brother, Harvey Vaile, Ardmore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Al Goff, Larry Petak, Georgie Pearson, and Mike, Jerry and Greg Pittman.
Mitchell F. Fuson
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Mitchell French Fuson, 62, Paoli, formerly of Tishomingo, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Clark Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Gniech officiating. Interment will be at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn.
Mr. Fuson passed away Friday, April 14, 2000, at the hospital in Norman. He was born May 20, 1937, at Tishomingo, to Olen and Minnie French Fuson.
He graduated from high school in Glenrose, Ark., in 1955, and joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959 as a corpsman. He later transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps before his discharge. He worked several years of International Paper Company in Malvern and Gerden, Ark., and later became an LPN. He worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital for a short time and also Massachusetts General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. Since returning to Oklahoma, he had been employed by the Pauls Valley State School.
Mitchell is survived by a sister, Edith Mason of Malvern, Ark.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including: Kelly and Linda Isenberg of Fillmore; Carol and Gary Smith of Fillmore; Kathy and Lewis Elrod of Blountstown, Fla.; Kevin and Sherry Pickron of St. Albans, W.Va.; James Fuson of Malvern, Ark.; Johnny Mason of Malvern; Leah Campbell of Cabot, Ark.; Paula Mason of Hot Springs, Ark.; Larry Mason of the U.S. Army; Denise and Charlie Allen, of Ravia; Diane and Richard West of Milburn; Cindi and Johnny DeHart of Pauls Valley; Susie Nichols of Ardmore; Wallace French of Durant; June French; and an aunt, Allie French; 12 great-nieces and -nephews; and two great-great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, James, Bobby, Sammy and an infant brother.
Bearers will be David Anderson, Eddie Gibson, Dr. Jack Mosley, Paul Ray and Buster Dunn. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4869 of Tishomingo.
J.B. Ragan
RINGLING -- Graveside rights for J.B. Ragan, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Schoonover officiating.
Ragan was born March 27, 1930, at Newcastle, Texas, to Glenn M. and Ruth I. Purtell Ragan, He died April 15, 2000, in Healdton.
Reared in Texas, he married Ruby Joyce Shields Sept. 1, 1951 at Hamilton, Texas, and they moved to Ringling in 1952. He was a transportation specialist stationed in Germany with the Army during the Korean war. He was a truck driver in the oil fields and for Groendyke from 1967 until 1984 when he retired.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters, Theda Love, Arlington, Texas, Dana Ragan, Irving, Texas, Charlotte Schoonover, Wapanucka, and Wanda Mirakhort, Irving; three sons, Rondal, Arkansas City, Kan., Gary and Buzz, Irving, Texas; a brother, Virgil, Pryor; four sisters, Dean Nunley, Oklahoma City, Ann Seth, California, Judy Crowley, Moore, and Mollie White, Wyandotte; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Fred A. Wright
Services for Fred Amerson Wright, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Joe Bartlett officiating. Interment will be at Pruitt Cemetery.
Wright was born Sept. 12, 1918, in Ardmore, to R.H. and Vinnie V. Parnell Wright. He died April 14, 2000, in the local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Ardmore and had worked as a general contractor for many years. He and Violet Marie Stidham were married in Gainesville, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters, Linda Hepler, Freddie Wright, Patricia Blevins and Effie Lee, all of Ardmore, and Lucille Wright, California; two brothers, Charlie and Herbert, both of Ardmore; two sisters, Frances Payne, Davis, and Helen Wilson; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Wright; and three brothers, LeRoy, Neil and Denton.
Bearers will be James Eubanks, James Payne, William Millsap, Lynn Richards and Mike Eddings. Honorary bearers are Lonnie Cryer, Sach Shockley and James Latham.
Mable Ruth Stong
Services for Mable Ruth Stong, 94, are pending from Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
A longtime Ardmoreite, Miss Stong died Monday, April 17, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Retta J. Small Stong, born Nov. 12, 1905, in Ardmore, Indian Territory.
A member of First Presbyterian Church since 1918, she graduated from Ardmore High School and Texas State College for Women, in Denton, Texas. After returning to Ardmore from college she opened the first kindergarten in the city and also taught art at Lincoln school.
Upon moving to Tulsa, she became associated with the YWCA where she trained young women in jobs skills. She had also been a sorority housemother at the University of Arkansas.
Former co-owner of the "Wits End" gift and stationery store here, she was an accomplished artist in several mediums and was a supporter of the local arts, having been a member of the Goddard Arts Center and Ardmore Little Theatre, as well as Ardmore art clubs.
She is survived by two nieces, Carol O'Mera, Malibu, Calif., and Peggy Flum, Athens, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Davidson, Ethel Rockett and Vera Stong; and a nephew, Dr. Louis S. Rockett.

Tawaney D. Prather
Services for Tawaney Dee Prather, 37, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leo Potts officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Prather was born July 10, 1962, in Ardmore, to Robert and Elizabeth Chapman Wells. She died April 16, 2000, following a motorcycle accident.
She was a lifetime resident of Ardmore and worked as a physical therapist at the Oklahoma Veterans Center 17 years.
Survivors include two daughters, DeJon L. and Ashley D. Knapp, of the home; a stepson, Jared Knapp, Shepherd, Texas; her mother, Elizabeth Long; and stepfather, Terry Long, both of Lone Grove; two sisters, Shelly Long, Stillwater, and Debbie Crelia, Lone Grove; a brother, Shane Long; and grandfather, Jesse Long, also Lone Grove.
Bearers will be Damian Stout, Shane Long, Les Kluver, Jared Knapp, Leo Peters and Don Aloison. Honorary bearers are James Holley, Mike Wilson, Ruben Wells, Curtis and Bill Kluver.
The family will receive friends from 5:45 to 6:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Dan 'Joe' Nall

Nall was born June 25, 1925, in Ardmore, to Dan G. and Kathleen Powell Nall. He died April 17, 2000, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, he served with the Air Force during World War II and in Korea before he retired after 20 years. He then worked for Uniroyal-Goodrich 19 years before he retired. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Danny; and stepsister, Isabell Howard, both of Ardmore; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby.

Dan 'Joe' Nall
Graveside rites for Dan "Joe" Nall, 74, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at McMillian Cemetery with Dr. Wade Paschal officiating.
Nall was born June 27, 1925, in Ardmore, to Dan G. and Kathleen Powell Nall. He died April 17, 2000, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, he retired from the U.S. Air Force following 20 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He had been an employee of Uniroyal-Goodrich, retiring after 19 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Donna Nall, Ardmore; a stepsister, Isabell Howard, Ardmore; and two grandsons, Clint and Cody Nall, also Ardmore; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby.

Ann L. Ontjes
SULPHUR -- Services for Ann Loraine Ontjes, 62, Denison, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Lesslie Thompson, the Rev. Steve Biggerstaff and the Rev. Raymond England officiating. Interment will be at Drake Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ontjes was born March 19, 1938, in Sulphur, to William F. and Minnie W. Edgington Howard. She died April 18, 2000, in Sherman, Texas.
Raised in Mill Creek, she lived in Sulphur from 1976 until 1998 and worked as a dietary supervisor at Artesian Nursing Home 23 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and had lived in Denison since 1998. She and Willis Bert Ontjes were married June 1, 1958, in California.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Loraine Thompson, Denison, Linda Chasteen, Broken Arrow, and Lisa Largen, Kearney, Neb.; a son, Bert, Waxahachie, Texas; four brothers, Pat Howard, Sulphur, Jim Howard, Oklahoma City, Richard Howard, Roswell, N.M., and Clay Howard, Tyler, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Rev. Louis Hendricks
EDMOND -- Services for former Ardmore minister Louis Monroe Hendricks will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Edmond First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.
Hendricks was born Sept. 9, 1905, in Sulphur, Indian Territory, to James and Fannie B. Everett Hendricks. He died April 17, 2000, in Edmond.
Reared in Sulphur, he graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and was minister of music at Emmanuel Baptist in Ardmore and Calvary Baptist in Sulphur. He was pastor at several churches in Oklahoma and California, retiring after 57 years of service. He married Velma Irene Herren on May 17, 1929.
Survivors include his wife, Velma, of the home; five children, Sylvia Cheek, Springfield, Mo., son, Louis, Belton, Texas, daughter, Noveita Gorden, Pasadena, Calif., daughter, Reta Clemons, Edmond, son Randall, Oklahoma City; a brother, Roy, Ardmore; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made Edmond First Baptist Church.

Vernon R. Mitchell
Vernon R. Mitchell died April 14, 2000, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore at the age of 84. No services are scheduled.
Mitchell was born Oct. 9, 1915, at Byers, to James C. and Florence A. Grider Mitchell. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
He is survived by a brother, Phil, Titus, Ala.

Emma P. Smith
Services for Emma Pearl Smith are pending from Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home. She died April 19, 2000, in Stephenville, Texas.

Vonda Jean Goodman
RINGLING -- Services for Vonda Jean Goodman, 73, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at the Marvin Acree Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Adkisson and Mike Turner officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Goodman was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Greenfield, to Washington Frank and Elizabeth Laura May Awtrey Stewart. She died April 17, 2000, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
She moved with her family to Canyon City, Colo., where she received her early education, graduating from high school in Canoga Park, Calif. She attended a Baptist college in Kansas and Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. While at OSU she met and married Harry Holt Goodman on June 29, 1947. They moved to Ringling that year and she taught school four years. She was employed by Jefferson County Department of Human Services in Waurika 18 years before she retired in 1986, at the same time she has been part of the family-owned Harry's Super Foods the past 45 years in Ringling.
Vonda was a member of Ringling United Methodist Church since 1947 and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She received her 50-year pin from the Order of the Eastern Star Cornish Lodge, which later united with the Healdton Lodge.
Survivors include her husband, Harry, of 52 years, of the home; a son, Randy and his wife, Rebecca Goodman of Ringling; her mother, Mrs. May Stewart of Greeley, Co.; two brothers, Frank Stewart of Platteville, Colo., and Kent Stewart of Virginia; and four grandchildren, Whitney, Stephen, Lauren and Robbie. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Stewart; a son, Rick, in 1982; and brother, Rex Stewart, in 1999.
Bearers will be Mike Turner, Bill Stroud, Tom Hildebrandt, Marland Vance, Lavell Engle and Mike Moore.
