Services for Sarah McMillan, 95, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with Elder Robert Hudgins officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Mrs. McMillan was born Aug. 13, 1904, at Sawyer, to Soloman V. and Sophia L. Williams Nation. She died May 1, 2000, in a local health care facility.
She married Cecil E. McMillan May 31, 1924, at Wilson, and had lived in Ardmore 58 years, moving here from Clemscott. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Virgil A., Bossier City, La., Harold E., Gerald E. and Darrel E., all of Ardmore; five sisters, Lula Henniger, Ardmore, Beatrice West, Arlington, Texas, Estelle Lyon, Terre Haute, Ind., Lavelle Smith, Cheek, and Hellen May, Hugo; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
MARIETTA -- Services for Claudia Olene Roberts Flanagan, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today, May 3, 2000, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Riley officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Born Oct. 7, 1925, at Eastman, Okla., to Bob and Lela Givens Gray, she died May 1, 2000, in Ardmore after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Betty Reeves in 1999.
Mrs. Flanagan attended Marietta schools and was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and a member of Southwest Baptist Church, Ardmore.
She loved friends, family and social gatherings. Mrs. Flanagan had been a resident of Ardmore for nine years, moving there from Gainesville, Texas. She married J.T. Roberts Jr. on Oct. 4, 1945, and they raised their family northwest of Marietta. She later married Charlie Flanagan, in 1981, at Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Taujuanna Roberts, Ardmore, Charley and Pat Roberts, Marietta, and Tony and Carrie Roberts, Lone Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Stan Daugherty, Ardmore; three brothers, W.L. "Buck" Gray, Marietta, Bill Gray and Jimmy Gray, Gainesville; a sister, Bobbie Brooks, Gainesville; 11 grandchildren, Lance Roberts, Court Roberts, Clay Roberts, Libby Roberts, Kacie Roberts, Sara Roberts, Lora Roberts, Meredith Roberts, Elisha Roberts, Dustin Daugherty and Deesha Daugherty; five great-grandchildren, Christian Daugherty, Morgan Daugherty, Megan Daugherty, Coby LeFlore and Peyton Roberts; and a special cousin, I.D. Eaton.
Bearers will be Rick Bullock, Bill Roberts, John Smith, Joe Roberts, Wendell Steudeman and Cody Coleman. Honorary bearers are Doug Simon, Travis Givens and Andrew Roberts.
Memorials may be made to her favorite charity the National Tuberous Sclerosis Association c/o Kennedy Funeral Home, 100 E. Main, Marietta, OK 73448.
MARIETTA -- Services for Rhoda Elizabeth Cummins, 83, are pending from Kennedy Funeral Home. She died May 3, 2000, in the local hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Henry L., Aaron Roy and James C.; and three daughters, Wanda Cummins, Wilma Baskett and Claudell Stephens.
MARIETTA -- Services for Beverly Thompson, 72, are pending from Kennedy Funeral Home. She died May 3, 2000, in the Ardmore hospital.
Survivors include a son, John, Marietta; and daughter, JoAnn Scott, Taylor, Texas.
RINGLING -- Services for former Ringling resident Johnnie Ray Thomason, 20, Gainesville, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of God Fellowship Church with the Rev. Ellen Abshire and the Rev. Jimmy Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Thomason was born Aug. 12, 1979, at Muenster, Texas, and died there April 30, 2000.
Reared in Thackerville and Gainesville, he lived several years in Ringling and had been employed in landscaping and at Dollar General.
Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Brenda Thomason, of the home in Gainesville; three brothers, Ronnie Jr. and Travis, of the home, and Joseph Thomason Abshire, Sand Springs; and grandmother, Marcella Henry, Portland, Ind.
Bearers will be Steven, Jeffrey and Ronnie Thomason Jr., Brian and Chris Johnson and J.R. Simpson. Honorary bearers are Daniel Taylor and Travis Thomason.
SULPHUR -- Private services for Richard John Merath, 69, will be Saturday.
Merath was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Irvin and Catherine Zelavy Merath. He died May 3, 2000, in Sulphur.
He lived in Wisconsin and Arizona before moving to Oklahoma and had lived in Sulphur the past eight years.
Survivors include daughters, Debora Gary, Rose M. McArthur; two sons, Edward L., Grassville, Ark., and Dennis, Reed Springs, Mo.; and a brother, John, and several grandchildren.
Clagg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Services for Ed Edward Shannon, 91, are pending from Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home. He died May 4, 2000, in a local health care facility.
Services for James William Losson, 66, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel in Ardmore with Leo Potts officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Oct. 12, 1933, at Vernon, Texas, to John R. and Sally B. Carter Losson, He died May 3, 2000, in the local hospital.
An Ardmore resident for the past 26 years, James served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years. Mr. Losson received the following awards for his service: the Good Conduct Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Gallantry Cross, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, China Service Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal. James retired from Uniroyal Tire Co. in 1994.
He and Mary Francis Melton were married Aug. 10, 1990, in Lone Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; a son, John Losson and his wife, Lisa, of Lone Grove; a daughter, Mary Holbrook and her husband, Wally, Lone Grove; four grandchildren, Cody and Derick Losson, Jon and Hayley Holbrook; two brothers, Otto Losson and Jerry Losson; and sister, Martha Losson, all of Oklahoma City.
Bearers will be Billy Christian, Wally Holbrook, Larry Holbrook, David Mocco, Cody Losson and David Crutcher. Honorary bearers are Emmitt Hutchinson and Carl Hunt.
Mr. Losson will lie in state at the Lone Grove Chapel and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.
Services for Helen Louise Tucker, 78, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. LeRoy Holman officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Ardmore, to Leonard and Alpha Whitford Elles. She died May 3, 2000, in the local hospital.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, she was employed by Scotta's Florist many years and by D&D Grocery 12 years before she retired in 1980. She and Billy Dean Tucker were married here Dec. 10, 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband Nov. 19, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Robert Carpenter, Ardmore; a daughter, Sandra Morris, Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Joe Elles, Ardmore; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Earl Russell, Mike McComber, Enoch Watterson, Bill Meyers, Jerry Bateman and Don Duke.
The family will receive friends at the Elles home, 302 B St. SW, at 7 tonight.
WAPANUCKA -- Services for Marlin N. King, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wapanucka Church of God with the Rev. Glen Thomason officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
King was born Dec. 15, 1912, at Scott County, Ark., to Elbert and Sarah Newman King. He died May 3, 2000, in the Tishomingo hospital.
He moved to Johnston County in 1940 and had lived most of his life, 60 years, in the Wapanucka area.
Survivors include four sisters, Flora Scruggs, Mannford, Effie Gordon, Sand Springs, Etna Eacret, Silver City, N.M., and Annie Ashby, Poteau; a brother, Cebert, Wapanucka. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, Aug. 27, 1996; three brothers, Ruben, Paul and Charlie; and sister, Stella Hasil.
Nephews will serve as bearers.
Clark Funeral Home, Tishomingo, will direct services.
Memorial services for Bill Runge, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating.
Runge was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Ardmore, to Ott and Mary K. Green Runge. He died here May 2, 2000, after an extended illness.
He graduated from Ardmore High School, served with the Seabees during World War II, then graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He worked in the distribution and sale of music records and albums, and owned Tapes of Tulsa music store in Tulsa. He was also in insurance sales. He returned to Ardmore 10 years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Jody Cargill, Dallas, and Nancy Runge, Oklahoma City; and sister, Margaret Long, Travis City, Mich.
MARIETTA -- Services for Delbert Lang, 64, Lake Murray Village, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Marietta with the Rev. Edward Knox officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mr. Lang was born Oct. 22, 1935, at Abner, in Love County, to John C. and Tennie Adcock Lang. He died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in the Ardmore hospital.
He grew up in Love County, attending and graduating from Meadowbrook High School, then attended college two years at Central State University in Edmond. He was saved and baptized in 1967. He moved back to the Ardmore area 14 years ago. He was a Baptist and 32nd Degree Mason. He worked for Champion Chemical Company, then Petrolite Chemical Company, retiring in 1992 from sales management. He was currently involved with his son's business, Lang Construction.
He and Joy Turman were married March 30, 1964, in Gainesville, Texas.
He loved his family and friends very much. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and having barbecue cookouts for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oral Lang and Velton "Brutus" Lang; three sisters, Vernia Kerbo, Mildred Harris and Essie Marie Lang.
Survivors include his wife, Joy, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Essie Lang, Marsden; daughters and sons-in-law, Regena and Mike Spangler, Ardmore, Debbie Conley, Odessa, Texas, Linda and Phillip Hoskinson, also Odessa, and Rhonda Kay and Ricky Wilson, Giddings, Texas; brother, James "Caesar" Lang, Marietta; sisters, Autry Mae Bearden and Loonita McGehee, also Marietta, and Wanda Shellenberger, Ardmore; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Bearers will be Terry Ferrell, Dewayne Kerbo, Mike Story, Henry Van Wye, Buddy Walls and Darrel McGehee. Honorary bearers are Harold White, Dewayne Chambers, Oscar Turman, Buford Rackley, Jeff Lang, Scott Lang, Mike Lang, Grady and Rachel Brewster.
MILO -- Services for Ed Edward Shannon, 91, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jehovah Baptist Church in Milo. Interment will follow at Hickory Cemetery.
Shannon was born Nov. 24, 1908, at Newport, to Leaford and Mary Williams Shannon. He died May 4, 2000, in a local health care facility.
He was a deacon and longtime member of Jehovah Baptist Church. He and Estella Nero were married Dec. 23, 1933. She died June 18, 1993. He was a farmer and lifetime resident of Carter County.
Survivors include five children, J.W. Shannon, Freda Williams, and Patricia Pickens, all of Milo, Mary Jones, Chickasha, and Derrick Shannon, Denver; two brothers, Leo, Milo, and Milford, Lawton. A son, Shelton Williams, preceded him in death.
Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Wanda Williams, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Elmore officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 26. 1931, at Gene Autry, to Floyd and Floy Elmore. She died May 7, 2000, at her home.
She moved to Sulphur in 1948 and was married to Ben Williams March 17 of that year. She moved to Houston and returned to Sulphur in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; a brother, Herman Elmore; and grandson.
Survivors include daughters, Judy Chaffee, Gore, Vicky Taylor and Diane Hopskins, Crockett, Texas; stepdaughter, Angel Hodges, Sulphur; two stepsons, Tony Funderburk, Colorado, and Marty Funderburk, Kansas; three brothers, Gerald Elmore, Sulphur, Sterling Elmore, Wewoka, and Gentry Elmore, California; three sisters, Maxine Priddy, Sulphur, Helen Thomas, Fort Worth, Texas, and Dot Spicer, Pasadena, Texas.
Bearers will be J.D. Chaffee, Michael Frantz, David Joes, C.L. Hampton and John Willhoit.
