MADILL -- Services for Estelene Oleta Hand, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Watts Memorial Chapel with Frank Huff and Herschel Baker officiating. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery.
Mrs. Hand died Jan. 26, 1999, at her residence. She was born July 10, 1934, at Graham.
Reared at Graham, she lived most of her life at Madill and Lebanon and was a clerk at TG&Y a number of years. She and William Maurice Hand were married March 1, 1958, at Madill. He died Sept. 16, 1990.
Survivors include her sons and daughters, William and Robert, Lebanon, Sherri Hand, Topeka, Kan., and Jeannie Hand, Avineo, Italy; brothers and sisters, Johnny Watkins, Graham, Jimmy Watkins, Fox, George Watkins, Hartshorne, Sue Dewbre, Graham, Edna Turner, Fox, Ann Stubblefield, Sapulpa, Nancy Savage, Graham, Richard Watkins, Fox, Geraldine McDaniel, Albany, Texas, and Edna Rader, Henryetta.
Bearers will be Terry and Carl Moore, Richard and Charlie Rushing, Randy Hagood, Allen Parrish and Bryan Williams. Honorary bearers will be Fred Stanley and family members.
RUBOTTOM -- Graveside rites for Esther Helen Adams, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rubottom Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating.
Mrs. Adams died Jan. 26, 1999, in a Seminole health care facility. She was born Sept. 6, 1911, at Jacksboro, Texas, to Edward L. and Sara J. Carlisle Qualls.
She married Alex Auld Aug. 24, 1927, and moved to Ada in 1985 from Gainesville, Texas, where she had lived since 1978. She was a nurse and member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1974. She and Robert Adams were married July 27, 1963, in Tarrant County, Texas. He died in 1977. She was also preceded by two sons, Donald Auld, in 1983, and George Auld in September 1988; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include six grandchildren, Donna McEndree, Lubbock, Texas, Dennis Auld, Oklahoma City, Dale Auld, Seminole, Mark, Steve and Mike Auld, Shawnee; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Kennedy Funeral Home, Marietta, will direct services.
Funeral services for Christine Elizabeth Johnson, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Virgil Trout and the Rev. Roy Hannah.
Mrs. Johnson was born to the late Lem D. and Lillie Irene Petty on March 3, 1911, at Mannsville. She died in the local hospital Jan. 26, 1999.
She had lived in the Ardmore and Mannsville area all her life and was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ. She was a sales clerk, employed by J.C. Penney Co. before she retired in 1967. She married Edgar A. Johnson in Mannsville on Sept. 11, 1929. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Wilson of Ardmore; a sister, Mavis Brummett of Madill; brother, Scott Morris Petty of Randlett; a grandson, David Wilson of Ardmore; and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Chris and Cory Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Bo Fore, Bill Bowden, Kenneth Murphey, John Cobb, Bill Hill and Sam Stearn.
Floyd J. Brown, 78, died Jan. 23, 1999, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center after an extended illness. Memorial services will be announced at a later date by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Born to Pete and Lewana Isom Brown Jan. 12, 1921, at Lubbock, Texas, he served in the Army during World War II and had lived in Ardmore 47 years, moving here from Duncan. He was a welder, a Baptist, and member of the National Rifle Association. He and Nina Lindsay Christopher were married May 9, 1997, in Ardmore.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Harold, Duncan; a daughter, Kay Harris, Atlanta, Texas; a brother, Berry, Seminole, Texas; and sister, Ottavine Neeld, Pooleville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanie Blevins.
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside rites for Barbara Faye Norris, 54, will be at 2 p.m. today at Tishomingo City Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Lansdale officiating.
Mrs. Norris died Jan. 25, 1999, in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Ardmore, to Fay and Beatrice Davis O'Dell.
She had lived in the Johnston County area most of her life and was a former teacher.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelley and Shelley Norris, Tishomingo; and three brothers, Charlie O'Dell, Tishomingo, Donald O'Dell, Milburn, and Donald O'Dell, Oklahoma City. She was preceded by a sister, Mary White; and two brothers, Weldon and Vernon Norris.
Corbin Funeral Home will direct services.
GAINESVILLE, Texas -- Graveside services for Edna Embry Chisum, 89, Gainesville, are set for 3:30 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Bennie R. Slack, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Mrs. Chisum died Jan. 25, 1999, at Muenster Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 1, 1909, in Leon, Okla., to Clint and Myrtle Cagle.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
Survivors include her sisters, Lou Spencer and Lillie Eaton, both of Gainesville; granddaughter, Vicki Embry, Marietta; two great-granddaughters, Tori Embry, also Marietta, and Amy Adame of Lubbock, Texas; and great-great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Adame also of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. "Bill" Embry Sr. in 1965; husband, Floy Chisum in 1996; son, W.C. Embry Jr. in 1978; and a grandson, W.C. "Bill" Embry III in 1996.
Carroll and Son Funeral Home will direct services.
Funeral services for Milton E. "Whit" Whitson will be at 2 p.m. today in the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. David Gardner officiating. Burial will be at McAlester Cemetery, near Overbrook.
Milton was born Aug. 10, 1925, at Ardmore, to Robert and Izora Grounds Whitson. He passed from this life on Jan. 24, 1999, in the local hospital at the age of 73 years, five months and 14 days after battling Alzheimer's and Parkinson's for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Ovie; and four sisters, Ruby Phillips, Lela Buck, Eva Culley and Lena Rose Pulliam.
He married Thelma Jane Adams on Feb. 19, 1979, at Gainesville, Texas. Milton retired from Total Petroleum Co. of Ardmore on Jan. 31, 1989, after 37 years. He was a heavy equipment operator. He had lived in Ardmore all his life and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, of the home; three sons, Eddie, Warren and Kelly Whitson of Ardmore; a daughter, Linda Williams and her husband, Bill, of New Braunfels, Texas; two stepchildren, Rickey Dean Adams and his wife, Tammie, and Le Ann Adams of Ardmore; three grandchildren, James Smith, Ty Garrett Whitson and Rickey Rae Adams; a brother, Odie Whitson of Ardmore; and a sister, Gladys Muse of Lone Grove.
Pallbearers will be Val Gene Jones, Kenneth Hensley, Kenneth Moss, Bruce Smith, Kenneth Miller and Freman Blankenship. Honorary bearers will be past and present co-workers at Total Petroleum Co. and Bobby Groomer.
Services for Zora Mae Almon, 71, will be at 2 p.m. today at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Custar officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Born to I.L. and Ola Jackson Garrison Nov. 7, 1927, at Madill, Mrs. Almon died Jan. 25, 1999, in the local hospital.
A resident of the Ardmore area most of her life, she married Thomas M. Almon March 1, 1946, at Madill, and worked for Ardmore Cleaners as a silk finisher. She was president of Disabled American Veterans and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Nov. 1, 1968; and a brother, J.R., in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Thomas A., Shawnee; daughter, Brenda K. Watson, Durant; two sisters, Ivarene Brown, Durwood, and Lula Faye Sprouse, Oakland; two brothers, Doyle Garrison, Oakland, and Roy Garrison, Madill; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Larry Garrison, Albert Self, Gary, David, Terry and Eddie Almon.
Services for Lorene H. Hudson, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Northeast Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Wall officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hudson died Jan. 24, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was born to Calvin and Amanda Cravatt Harris Nov. 2, 1922, at Mill Creek.
She was a homemaker and member of Northeast Baptist Church. She was the widow of Alphus Jefferson and Elmus Hudson.
Survivors include four sons, Michael and Winston Jefferson, Ardmore, Woodrow Jefferson, Tulsa, and Malcolm Jefferson, Gallup, N.M.; four daughters, Hawaii Davidson, Lewisville, Texas, Tiajuana John, Ardmore, Sandra Carillo, Pueblo, Colo., and Arnetta Higgins, Marietta; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Jefferson Jr.
Bearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be Donald L. John, Nathan Hendrickson and Christopher Carillo.
Visitation will be at 6 tonight at Northeast Baptist Church.
Memorial services for Rebecca "Becca" Corinne Dial, 15, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Ardmore. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Bristow with the Rev. Bill Liggett officiating. Burial will be at Bristow City Cemetery.
Becca Corinne died Jan. 24, 1999, in Norman. She was born in Sapulpa on June 29, 1983, and lived in Bristow until 1992, when she moved to Ardmore. Becca was a member of First Baptist Church in Bristow and was active in the Youth Ministries of both the Baptist church and Methodist church in Ardmore. She was a sophomore at Lone Grove High School where she was a cheerleader, in the school band, and a member of the honor society, as well as active in vocal music and writing poetry.
Becca is survived by her parents, Dennis and Patty Dial of Bristow, and Pam and Scott Hill of Ardmore; maternal grandparents, Bud and Patricia Loughridge and Harold and Isabel Hill of Ardmore; paternal great-grandmother, Lucy Mae Dial of Bristow; sisters and best friends, Samantha Dial of Tahlequah, and Lysandra Dial of Norman; a stepbrother and his wife, Josh and Cinda Mass of Bristow; brother-in-law, Buck Few; nephew, David Few; and niece, Savannah Few of Bristow; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clayton and Corinne Dial of Bristow.
Memorials may be made to the Rebecca Dial Memorial Fund at Community Bank, P.O. Box 1020 Bristow, OK 74010; or First National Bank of Lone Grove, P.O. Box 1500, Lone Grove, OK 73443.
Services will be directed by Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home of Ardmore and Schumacher Funeral Home in Bristow.
MADILL -- Services for Lona B. Walker, 89, will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Holden officiating. Interment will be at Woodberry Forest Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Walker died Jan. 24, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was born April 1, 1913, in Cotton County, to William H. and Rhoda A. Hambleton.
She married Edwin M. Walker June 28, 1939, at Chickasha, and during their 57 years of marriage they served at Methodist Churches all over the state, including four years at Madill. She taught Sunday school and worked with the Boy Scouts. After retiring in 1985, they moved back to Madill from Meeker. She was preceded in death by her husband April 2, 1996; a brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, John, Lincoln, Neb., and William, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Mary Ann Saxon, Madill; a sister, Florene Olsen, Napa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Wes Saxon, Sam Barrick, Forrest and Mark Walker, George Ford and Dale Waymire. Honorary bearers are Norman Denton, George Leerstang, David Ward and Eugene Wood.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Ray H. Branum, 81, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will be at Ravia Cemetery under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Branum died Jan. 24, 1999, in Tishomingo. He was born Dec. 10, 1917, at Petty, Texas, to Frank and Mary Sales Branum.
He served in the Marines during World War II, he was a trader, dealing in livestock, tack and guns. He was president of the Rodeo Club, a member of the city council and was responsible for modernizing the police department. He and Lema Ayres were married May 29, 1952, in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Jerry, Tishomingo, and Gary, Dallas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two half brothers, Bill Branum and Fay Jackson, and his first wife, Wilma Faye Branum.
