MARIETTA -- Services of Verna Faye Lewis, 86, Yuma, Ariz., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home with Ray Hilliard officiating. Interment will be at Greenville Cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis was born Feb. 29, 1915, at DeQueen, Ark., to Will and Myrtle Smith Spence. She died March 3, 2001, in Yuma.
She was a cook at the Greenville school and a dietitian at Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., before she retired. She moved from Oakdale, Calif., to Yuma 15 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. "Ed" Lewis, in 1975; a daughter, Marcena Lewis; son, Tommy Lewis; four brothers, Charlie, Tom, Don and Harold Spence.
Survivors include a son, Jerry, Yuma; two daughters, Ann Stewart, Yuma, and Judy Lopez, Mi-Wuk Village, Calif.; a sister, Marine Jacobs, Marietta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jeff and Ronald Jacobs, Jay Lewis, Allen Woody, Jesse Kirk and Duard Sharp. Honorary bearers are Claude Brannan, Clyde Rhoades, Monroe Thompson, Jack, Rudolph and David McGehee.
COURTNEY -- Services for Mary Ellen Davis, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Courtney United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Rodgers and the Rev. Larry Adkisson officiating. Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg.
Mrs. Davis died March 5, 2001, at her home in Courtney where she had lived since moving from North Little Rock, Ark., in 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tootie and John Dewbre, Courtney; son Randy Hudelson, North Little Rock; five stepchildren, Woody Davis and wife, Karla, Kansas City, Mo., Lee Davis and wife Debbie, Benton, Ark., Michael Davis and wife, Peggy, also Benton, and Susan Rhodes and husband, Dewayne, Bluffton, Ark.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Gladys Hamilton, Lone Oake, Ark., J.W. and Betty Hamilton, North Little Rock, and Dewayne and Chris Hamilton, Gulfport, Miss.; two sisters, Margaret Cox, North Little Rock, and Louise Smith, Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Spivey's Reser Funeral Home will direct services.
ATOKA -- Services for JoAnn Brewer Meneley, 65, Stringtown, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pen and A Church of Christ. Interment will be at Stringtown Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Service.
Mrs. Meneley was born Aug. 20, 1935, at Walters. She died March 4, 2001, in the McAlester hospital.
She married Howard Lee Meneley Nov. 10, 1951, at Durant and was employed as a med aid at the Healdton nursing home before she retired in 1993.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Brenda Darling, Ratliff City; sister, Glenda Curtis, Niland, Calif.; two brothers, Eugene Brewer, Stockton, Calif., and Archie Brewer, Yuma, Ariz. and two grandchildren.
Visitation is at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
HEALDTON -- Services for Cammie Christean Miller, 89, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ray of Hope Church with Jimmy May and Dow Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at Marlow Cemetery.
Born Dec. 16, 1911, at Horseshoe Bend to George and Oretha Ranes Lakins, she died March 1, 2001, at her home. She married Joseph Alexander Miller Oct. 5, 1929, at Duncan. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Ellen, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Miller, Healdton, one daughter, Linda Miller Davidson, Duncan; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home, Comanche.
SULPHUR -- Services for Vera Kathleen Chadwick, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Chadwick was born Nov. 9, 1910, at Sulphur to John R. and Jennie Cowger Collier. She died March 3, 2001, at Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Raised in Sulphur, she married Jeff Chadwick here Oct. 2, 1926, and they were barbers here for many years. She moved to California in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillie Webb, Simi Valley, Calif.; a son, Cecil J., Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and seven sisters.
Bearers will be Joe G. and Rocky Arms, Nathan Hicks, Don R. Chadwick, Gary Sadler and David Pyle. Randy Sadler is honorary bearer.
REXROAT -- Services for Alven L. Alexander, 46, will be at 2 p.m. today, March 7, 2001, at Rexroat Baptist Church with the Rev. Monte Dean and Gary Scott Labeth officiating. Interment will be at Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson.
Alven was born July 17, 1954, in Ardmore to A. Lavoie and I. Aileene Cannon Alexander. He died March 4, 2001, at his residence in Wilson.
A lifelong resident of Wilson, he graduated from high school in 1973 and began working for Brady Welding and Machine Company in Healdton, remaining employed there until prohibited by his illness in September 2000. He and Brenda J. Cartwright were married May 15, 1978, at Rexroat. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aileene Alexander, on Aug. 12, 1985; and his father, Lavoie Alexander on April 15, 1987.
Alven is survived by his wife, Brenda; and two daughters, Amanda and Emily, all of the home; two sisters and their husbands, Gwyneth and Mike Cogdill of Harrah, and Sherry and Kenny Carlile of Burneyville; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janice and Bennie Cartwright of Wilson; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Becky Cartwright of Wilson, and Mike and Donna Sullivan of Noble; nieces and nephews, K.C. Carlile, Monica Vance, Treves Cogdill and wife, Michele, Mike Faught and wife Tiffany, Daniel, Jacob and Jessica Cartwright; two special great-nieces, Megan and Molly Faught.
Bearers will be Wes Hacker, Jody Rich, Mike Faught, E.L. Loving, David Cannon and Terry Shaver. Honorary bearers are Bennie Cartwright, David Cartwright, E.L. Cartwright, Jim Cannon, Mike Cogdill, Kenny Carlile, Treves Cogdill, Mike Sullivan, all Brady employees and Rexroat Baptist Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
A memorial fund has been established at American National Bank for Alven's family. Donations may be made at any location in Ardmore, Lone Grove, Comanche or Wilson, or mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 700, Wilson, OK 73463.

TISHOMINGO -- Services for Loyd A. "Brubb" Payne, 73, Ardmore, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church of Tishomingo with the Rev. Brad Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at Troy Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home, Ardmore.
Payne was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Mena, Ark., to Roy A. and Mary E. Jarman Payne. He died March 4, 2001, at his Ardmore residence.
Reared in Tishomingo, he moved to Kermit, Texas, in 1951 and operated a gas plant for Sid Richardson Company until he retired. He then owned and operated his own gravel truck. He and Wyndol Marie Kent were married on Dec. 24, 1951, in Ada. He returned to Ardmore two years ago.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons, Ronnie Gene Shaw, Milwaukee, and Ricky L. Payne, Kermit, Texas; a daughter, Joan R. Hector, Burkburnett, Texas; a brother, J.C., Kermit; sisters, Dorothy Clemmons, Tishomingo, and Velgean Sellers, St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Shea Davis, Stan Sewell, Jimme Sweat, Johnny Robinson, Nathan and Roy Clemmons.
A celebration of the life of Debbie Collins is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wade Paschal and the Rev. Robert Gorrell officiating.
Born July 25, 1958, at Bartlesville to Mary Lou and V.M. Piland Jr., she passed from this life to a heavenly one March 2, 2001. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Debbie graduated from Tulsa Edison High School and majored in accounting at the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with honors in 1980. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Lorenzo T. "Renny" Collins May 22, 1982, and moved to Ardmore where she became a loving wife and mother. After a brief career in accounting, Debbie taught for many years as a dance instructor at The Shannon Crites School of Dance and was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was always ready to be of service to others, and words cannot express how much she will be missed by her husband, her children, her family and her many close friends.
She is survived by her husband of the home; and her children, Lorenzo Ryan Collins and Marci Love Collins. Also surviving Debbie are her father, V.M. Piland Jr.; her sisters, Cynthia Ezell and Sheralee Harrison; and a brother, Robert B. Piland, all of Tulsa.
Honorary bearers will be all of those who shared their time, warmth, love and kindness with Debbie and her family during the last few months of her life.
Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, First Untied Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Services for Rae Hooker Lyne, 24, Euless, Texas, were at 10 a.m. today at Griffin Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Juan Manuel Guererro officiating. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 27, 1976, in Edinburgh, Scotland, she died Feb. 27, 2001, in the Ardmore hospital.
She was married to Miguel Lyne and was previously manager of Great Clips in Watauga, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, of Euless; a son, Jacob Hooker, Ardmore; her parents, Albert C. "Tex" and Jane A. "Janie" Hooker, Ardmore; brothers, Luke Hooker, London, and Lee Hooker, Jackson, Miss.; sister, Jan Jones, Ardmore; and grandmother, Delores Hooker, Stroud.
Bearers were Lee Hooker, Darrin Miller, Joe Cartwright, Gary Hays, Charlie Jones and Bruce Mobley.
WILSON -- Graveside rites for Gerald "Jerry" Lowery, 62, lifelong resident of Wilson, will be 3 p.m. today at Hewitt Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating.
Born June 20, 1938, at Wilson to Monty Earl and Ines Ida Howard Lowery, he died March 2, 2001, at his residence. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Colleen King and Gloria Williams; and one brother, Earnest Guinn.
He married Imagene Balthrop at Newport, Texas.
Raised at Wilson, he graduated from Wilson High School in 1956 and entered the United States Navy on March 25, 1957. He served on the U.S.S. Pollux, a supply ship, and was honorably discharged in 1961. He went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas. He retired in 1993 as a ONG senior meter and gas regulator technician after 32 years of service. Following his retirement, he sold roadside vegetables. He was a member of the ONGER's and ONG Retirees.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Kristy Lambert, Wilson, Susan English, Lone Grove, and Mona Lowery, Ardmore; three sons, Steve Lowery, Mannsville, and Mike and Steve Keeton, both of Lone Grove; two sisters, Joyce Taylor, Newport, and Carolyn Kessler, Ringling; one brother, Cecil Guinn, Lone Grove; and eight grandchildren.
Bearers are Rickey Mullins, Ralph Mullins Jr., Bruce Williams, Hank Lambert, Michael Webb, Bob Lewter, Frank Taylor and James Kessler. Honorary bears on ONG employees and retirees.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Graveside rites for Scott M. Petty, 77, Randlett, were 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors.
Born Nov. 17, 1923, at Mannsville to Lem D. and Lillie Irene Scott Petty, he died March 1, 2001, at his home. He married Peggy Jean Turnbow Sept. 28, 1945, at Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death in October 1993. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Petty grew up at Mannsville. In 1941 he joined the United States Navy, serving for 20 years. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1961. He made his home in the Ardmore area following his retirement. He moved to Randlett from Marietta in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Scott M. Petty Jr., Ardmore, and Gary Petty, Dallas; two daughters, Sandy Plessner, Tilton, N.H., and Brenda Bounds, Carthage, Texas; one sister, Mavis Brumlet, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Hart Wyatt Funeral Home.
Services for James Richards, 56, Millcreek, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Smith officiating.
Born Nov. 18, 1944, at Ardmore to James Albert and Dovie Luttrell Richards, he died March 3, 2001, at a Sulphur hospital.
Richards married Mary Earheart Nov. 22, 1996, at Ardmore.
He worked as a truck driver for Ryder. Richards had served his country in the United States Army. He was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Shelina; one son, Jody Richards, of Tennessee; two stepsons, Raymond Earheart, Ardmore, and Randell Earheart, Ada; three sisters, Opal Roberts and Mildred Jones, both of Madill, and Belva Indig, New Mexico; one brother, Oscar Richards, Ardmore; and three grandchildren.
Bearers are Chuck South, Joe Carroll, Sonny Mize, Ray Gibson, Raymond Earheart and Lonnie Davis.
Visitation is 4-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
ATOKA -- Services for Mazie Lorene Smith Johnson, Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Atoka with the Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Caney Cemetery.
Born June 28, 1931, at Ryan, Okla., to John William and Macie Higgs Smith. She passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at her residence in Ardmore at the age of 69 years and eight months.
She attended school at Nix, in Atoka County, and high school at Caney. She married Charles Sanders in 1949 at Denison, Texas. She later married Frank Johnson in 1983 at Ardmore. She was a homemaker and housewife and member of Caney Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband and best friend, Frank Johnson, of the home in Ardmore; four sons, Randy Johnson of Sulphur, Wes Sanders of Caney, Jim Sanders of Malakoff, Texas, and Jerry Sanders of Atoka; a daughter, Pam Young of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, LaDonna Sanders of Purcell, Jason and John Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, Crystal and Amber Sanders of Midland, Texas, Stephanie Young and Sarah Cook of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jessie Smith of Stuart, and Leland Smith of Caney; two sisters, Lenora McBride and husband, Buster, of Caney, and Georgie Stanley and husband, James, of Tushka, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Macie Smith; her first husband, Charlie Sanders in 1987; two sons, Jesse Leon Sanders and Dennis Michael Love; four brothers, Vernon, R.J., L.G. and Floyd Smith and sister, Evie Head.
Bearers will be Doug Wells, Don McManus, Lloyd Whitmire, Chester Willeby, Butch Willeby and Glenn Conner. Honorary bearers are Mike Gordon, Terry Conner, Tommy McBride, Dennis McBride and Jim Payne.
Family night is at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Services for Walter G. Finley, 74, were at 11 a.m. today, March 1, 2001, at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with the Rev. Buck Buchanan officiating. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Finley was born April 26, 1926, at Lone Grove, to John and Sara Talley Finley. He died Feb. 25, 2001, in Ardmore.
A lifetime resident of this area, he worked for Cashway Lumber Company 30 years and at County Builders Supply 10 years before he retired. He was a member of Provence Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzy Hartsell and her husband, Bobby, and Patricia Graham; and son, Edward Gene Finley, all of Lone Grove; two brothers, Charles of Richland, Wash., and Ed of Lone Grove; a sister, Katherine Finley of Ardmore; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers were Charlie Taliaferro, Ray Blevins, Wesley Deck, Reecie Holliman, David Bumpass and Randy Montgomery.
