TISHOMINGO -- Funeral services for Helen "Dale" Fall, 60, will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Corbin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Robert Yandell will officiate with interment at the Tishomingo City Cemetery.
Born Aug. 21, 1938, in Lawton to Thomas and Molly Lorena Thomas Hughes, she died Dec. 30, 1998, in Denison, Texas.
She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William "Pug" and Thomas "Tom" Hughes; and a sister, Judy Cook.
She is survived by four daughters, Tara Gorrell, Madill; April Dawn Sanchez, Yakima, Wash., Lisa Dannen Burns, Humble, Texas, and Tena Marie Anderson, Tishomingo; three sisters, Frances "Pinky" Rowe and Nancy "Jo" Shipley, Tishomingo, and Linda Elise Sweat, Moore; and 10 grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside services for Tommy "Tom" Jefferson Baxter, 87, of Butcher Pen will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Condon Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Craddock officiating.
Born Aug. 28, 1911, to Tommy Wesley and Lela Ann Franks Baxter in Eagletown, he died Dec. 30, 1998, in Madill.
A retired laborer, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charley Myers and Walter Baxter; three sisters, Mary Craddock, Bertha Wells and Dolly Campbell; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Zoetta Ruth (Holland), of the home; 10 sons, Vestal, Muskogee, Robert, Coburg, Ore., Don, Lebannon, Ore., Tommy and Wesley, Tishomingo, Vernon, Sweet Home, Ore., John, Walter, and Sherman Vaughn, Tishomingo, and Bobby Vaughn, El Reno; seven daughters, Dorothy Spriggs, Leona Goss, and Billie Ensley, Sweet Home, Ruby McCullom, Pat Culp, and Janet Harcrow, Tishomingo, and Virginia Baxter, Oklahoma City; one half-brother, Lloyd Mattingly, Ravia; and more than 100 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Corbin Funeral Home will direct services.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Vivian V. Fields. 84, Ravia, will be noon Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in the Ravia Cemetery.
Born July 21, 1914, to Robert and Grace Beane Sutton at Concrete, she died Dec. 30, 1998, in Ravia.
A member of the Methodist faith, she had lived in Ravia most of her life. Mrs. Fields had been a lunchroom manager at a Texas school.
She married J.E. Fields June 14, 1933, at Tishomingo. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Jim, Ravia; one brother, Jim Henry Sutton, Norman; one sister, Fannie Lou Willis, Oklahoma CIty; one grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Graveside services for lifelong resident G.E. "Bill" Culley, 88, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McAlister Cemetery, southwest of Ardmore, with the Rev. Stephen Harris officiating.
Born here Feb. 7, 1910, to Henry S. and Kate Phillips Culley, he died Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospital.
He married Eva Whitson in Marietta, Aug. 27, 1936, and was a retired field biologist for the U.S. Fish and wildlife Department. His wife preceded him in death, June 25, 1983.
He is survived by a daughter, La Donna Wood, Wilburton; three sons, Bill and Bob, Ardmore, and Bobby Armstrong, Oklahoma City; four sisters, Blanche Craighead, Ardmore, Hazel Fomby, Dallas, Texas, Eva Smith, Vallejo, Calif., and Jacko Hoffman, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
WILSON -- Funeral services for longtime Lone Grove resident J.B. Norton, 75, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Raymond Norton will officiate with interment in Hewitt Cemetery.
Born April 15, 1923, in McMillan to William Dalphus and Sallie Ellen Brumlow Norton, he went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Dec. 30, 1998, in Lone Grove.
Reared south of Wilson, he was united in marriage with the former Pauline Helen Odette Hacker Norton on July 19, 1942, at Minco and they had lived in the Lone Grove area most of their lives. He was employed by Rock Hill Oil Co. which later became Shore Line Petroleum and then Reserve Oil & Gas, retiring as a pumper after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Feb. 11, 1995; a son, Edwin on Dec. 1, 1976; two brothers, T.R. Norton on Dec. 6, 1969, and Dalphus Norton, Oct. 6, 1997.
J.B. was an inspiration to his family, church family and his many friends. An active member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Lone Grove, J.B. loved his Lord and would sit and talk about the Bible and God's love and mercy to all. He was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted family including three daughters, Millie and her husband Robert Sweeten, Ardmore; Carolyn Carter, Ardmore, and Gloria and her husband Benny Gothard, Lone Grove; five sons and their wives, Jim and Liz Norton, Ringling, Lonnie and Angela Norton, Ardmore, Johnny and Gwen Norton, Wilson, Rick and Carolyn Norton, Lone Grove, and Sam and Stephani Norton, Ardmore; a sister, Ruby Hacker, Muskogee; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a loving host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be grandsons Jay Paul Norton, Coy Vasques, Marc Norton, Tim Gothard, Jeremy Norton, Andy Norton, and Matthew Norton. Honorary bearers will be all other grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
LEON -- Graveside rites for Ozell Freida Glazier, 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at Leon Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Countess officiating.
Born April 18, 1926, at Burneyville, to Wesley F. and Annie Reed Glazier, she died Jan. 3, 1999, at Davis.
Reared in the Jimtown area, she graduated from Leon High School and moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed by Dunn and Bradstreet as a computer programmer until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
She is survived by a sister, Oleta Surface, Wynnewood. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Elmer Glazier; and three sisters, Ester Caldwell Fortner, Addie Powers and Hazel Reed Lemons.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for John William "Bill" Grissom, 72, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Arlen Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born May 15, 1926, at Ardmore to John and V.A. Grissom, he died Jan. 1, 1999.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, Grissom graduated from Ardmore High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy, where he served until the end of World War II. Bill graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in finance in 1949. In 1950 he and his brother, Bob, founded Community Finance Company and in 1963 founded Lincoln Bank and Trust Company where he served as president and chairman of the board of directors until his death.
Bill loved both the air and sea. He earned his pilot's license at the age of 15 and remained an active pilot for many years. Another of his projects was the complete restoration of a 1939 Chriscraft wooden cabin cruiser.
Survivors include one son, Randy Grissom, and his wife, Gail, Ardmore; daughters, Cathy Bolding, Oklahoma City, and Nancy Wilson and her husband, James, Oklahoma City; his former wife, Anna Grissom, Ardmore; his brother, Bob, and his wife, Helen, Ardmore; and grandchildren, Geoffe and Karyn Bolding and Katie Wilson.
Bearers are Rick Simms, Tim Berryhill, Jerry Nance, Bob Grissom, Harold Holden, Bill Reed, Roger Gray and Bill Gentry.
Memorials may be made to the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc., 100 Timberdell Road, Norman, OK 73019.
BROKEN BOW -- Graveside rites for Helen Mae Waldon, 84, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Holly Creek Cemetery at Broken Bow, Okla. with the Rev. Alvin Clamp officiating.
The daughter of the late Kit Carson and Mattie Delia Whittle Hunkapiller Taylor, she was born July 8, 1914, at Merdes, La., and passed away Jan. 1, 1999 in the local hospital following an extended illness.
Reared in the Broken Bow area, she graduated from Broken Bow High School. She lived in Mobile, Ala. the past 54 years working as the resident manager of the YWCA and a children's home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mobile. She moved to Ardmore in 1995.
She is survived by a brother, Claud Taylor of Ardmore; her grandson, Kit O'Neil Waldon of Mobile, Ala.; and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, Ivan Kit, in 1986.
Services will be under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Services for Allie Mae Read, 90, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Wood officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Read was born Dec. 30, 1907, at Dexter, Texas, to George A. and Mattie E. McDaniel Copeland. She died Dec. 30, 1997, in a local health care facility after an extended illness.
She married Glen L. Read on April, 1, 1927, at Berwyn. They moved to Ardmore in 1934 from Dill City. Her husband preceded her in death July 1, 1994.
Survivors include three sons, Gene, Canyon, Texas, Bill, Concord, Calif.; and Keith, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Claude Copeland, Salem, Ore., and Bud Copeland, Ardmore; a sister, Laura C. Hodson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Les Hardy, John Read, Ryan Doudican, Jamie Martin, Donnie McCartney, Eric McCartney and Mark Read.
Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Fransisco Javier Rico Jaimes will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He was born and died Dec. 29, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Fransisco Rico Guerro, Mexico; his mother, Terri Jaimes, of the home; two brothers, Jose Jaimes Jr. and Eddie R. Jaimes; a sister, Angelica Jaimes; and his grandmother, Martha Elliott.
Services will be under the direction of Griffin Kennedy-Watts.
DAVIS -- Services for Faye L. Vorheis, formerly of Davis, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be at McKeeman Cemetery near Medford.
Vorheis was born on Jan. 22, 1905, in Woodward County to Charley and Pearl Runyon Pitcher. She died Dec. 30, 1997, in Oklahoma City.
She was a housewife and a member of the First Christian Church of Davis. She had moved to Oklahoma City six years ago. She married Oliver L. Vorheis on April 17, 1926, in Medford. He preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1974. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Smith; and a son, Darrel.
She is survived by a son, Larry, of Bethany; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Glenna Seabolt, 87, will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Tishomingo Methodist Church with the Rev. Lisa Crone officiating. Interment will be in Davidson Cemetery.
Ms. Seabolt died Dec. 30, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1910, in Davidson to Andrew J. and Leona Crimm Folley.
She married Joseph Seabolt on Nov. 5, 1930, in El Reno. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a daughter; two brothers; and a sister. Mrs. Seabolt was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, and a member of United Methodist Women, Order of the eastern Star and extension homemakers.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Muse, Tishomingo, and Carolyn McElroy, Ardmore; a sister, Ida Mae Jewell, Altus; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Smith Funeral Home will direct services.
Funeral services for Fay Stanford Ervin were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Interment followed at Province Cemetery.
Mrs. Ervin died Dec. 28, 1997, in Ardmore. She was born Aug. 21, 1898, at Wylie, Texas, to Robert and Betty Dinkard Stanford.
She was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area and a civil service retiree. She was a member of First Orthodox Baptist Church. She and Mark H. Ervin were married in 1921 in Ardmore.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Juanda and Alvin Brokob of Borger, Texas; a daughter, Mary Shrum of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Tim Berryhill, also of Ardmore; a daughter, Carol Layne of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
