Services for Roy Winn Roring Sr. will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wade Pascal officiating.
Roring was born July 5, 1925, to Ruth M. and Anthony Roring in Corinth, Miss. He died Feb. 23, 1997, as a result of an automobile accident.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in petroleum engineering. He served as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean war. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Syble; and three children, Bill and Deanne Roring Hightower of Davis, Winn and Tibble Roring of Duncan, and Steven and Debbie Roring of Ardmore; a brother, John Edward Roring of Monticello, Utah; nine grandchildren, James, Amy, Lori and John Hightower, Tres and A.J. Roring, Steven, Lauren and Ryan Roring.
Pallbearers will be John Elmore, Joe Ben Ponder, Bob Grissom, Bill Boone, Harold Holden, Bob Howell and Ed Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Enos, Gene Hill, Winnie Jordan, John March, Bill Robertson, Fred Crawford, Harry Brown, Nub Sullivan, Lonnie Carter, Allan Neustadt and Burke Mordy.
Memorials may be made to one's choice.
Services will be under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mark Henry Croskell, 34, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Croskell family ranch.
Beloved son of Henry and Medelon Byrd Croskell was born on March 21, 1962, in Indianapolis, Ind., and left this Earth on the wings of eagles Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997.
Mark had been a resident of Dallas, Texas, for the past eight years. He graduated from Parkway West High School in 1981 and attended Meramec Junior College in St. Louis, Mo.
Mark is survived by his parents, of the home; and a sister, Maralyn Croskell of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Avis and Lindell Byrd and Puc and Joan Croskell.
Pallbearers will be Scott Byrd, Bruce Byrd, Randy Farr, Robert Clark, Fred Gordon and Rick Eichacker. Honorary bearers will be James Howard, F.W. Conway and Dewey Craig.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Services for Robert Meek Sr., 79, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Meek died Feb. 22, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1918, at Woodford, to John and Bessy Bumgarner Meek.
Married to Hester Stillwell in 1948, in Rapid City, S.D., he served in the armed forces, served as Carter County clerk and was also employed by the State of Oklahoma. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Robert Jr., Ardmore, David, Norman, Larry, Dallas, and Steve, Utah; a brother, Lois, Ardmore; four sisters, Quincy Bucham, Eva Newton, Ruth Beauchamp and Jerri Meek; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Walter McAnnally, Mike McComber, Tom Geurin, Jack Parker, Myrl Crossley and Fount Owen.
WILSON -- Services for former Wilson resident Boyd J. Claxton, 80, Ardmore, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating. Interment will be at Hewitt Cemetery.
Claxton died Feb. 22, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. He was born April 22, 1916, in the Wilson area to Will and Nora L. Brandford Claxton.
Reared in the Zaneis-Wilson area, he served in the Army and was employed by Shell Oil Co. 22 years before retiring in 1982 and moving to Ardmore. He and Irene Elizabeth Tadlock were married March 30, 1948, at Gainesville, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Sherry Pickens, Ardmore, and Barbara Bradley, Lewisville, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Richard Bradley, Teddy Pickens, Ron Hardy, Darwin Scarberry, Bobby and Jimmy Tadlock.
Funeral services for James F. "Jim" Ozment, 94, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel conducted by the Rev. Stephen Harris and Rev. Gene Branscum. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Ozment, son of the late Robert L. and Mary Cotton Ozment, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at his residence. He was born Oct. 30, 1902, in Gainesville, Texas, and moved to Ardmore with his family in 1905.
He and Viva Alene Underwood were married Sept. 26, 1928, in Ardmore. She died Aug. 22, 1985.
After leaving a baseball career in the Texas League, he joined the Ardmore Fire Department July 1, 1927. During his years with the fire department he served as chief continuously until March 31, 1949. He was called back into service by the then "city fathers" to serve as fire chief a second time, the only chief in Ardmore's history to serve in that capacity twice.
After retiring again to pursue golf as his full-time occupation, the citizens of Ardmore prevailed upon him and he was elected city commissioner in 1968 and served as mayor from May 1971 to May 1972. During these years of service he viewed the construction of the Uniroyal Tire plant as one of the most important of his government service.
A member of Ardmore Kiwanis Club, he actively participated in civic organizations and local government most of his adult life, always willing to serve, and believing that citizenship required action.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Maelynn and Warren Reece, Mustang, Okla.; two grandsons, Chris Reece, Mustang, and Mike Ozment, Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Dana Kaye; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Geoffrey Cole and Samuel and Mica Ozment, Oklahoma City; a nephew, Jimmy Max Ozment; and special friends, Edith and Ron Hodges, Ardmore. Preceding him in death was a son, Billy Ozment; grandson, Mark Ozment; a brother, Robert Ozment; and sister, Bernie Ozment.
Serving as bearers will be Harold Parker, Fount Owen, Bob Ward, Terry Ozment, Mike Ozment and Tim Berryhill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Services for Wilbur R. Jones, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John P. Vrana officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Jones died Feb. 24, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born to Carl C. and Minnie Benton Jones Aug. 24, 1913, in Ardmore, and had lived here all his life.
Jones and Mary Elizabeth Stanton were married July 20, 1935, in Arkansas City, Kan.
A graduated of Ardmore High School, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a cotton and real estate businessman and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Stanton, Houston, and Robert W., San Francisco; a daughter, Carolyn Jones, Great Falls, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Mary's Church.

THACKERVILLE -- Services for Michael Wayne Sampson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at the Thackerville High School auditorium with the Rev. Casey Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville.
Sampson was born Oct. 4, 1980, at Gainesville, Texas, to Marlene Sampson. He passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 23, 1997, at Thackerville, Okla., at the age of 16 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Sampson had lived all his life in Thackerville and attended the New Hope Assembly of God Church. He was a sophomore at Thackerville High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Barnett Sr.
Survivors include his mother, of the home; grandmothers, Joyce Teran of Thackerville, and Jewel Barnett of Denton, Texas; grandfathers, Sherman Sampson of Thackerville, and Oscar Ray Barnett of Gainesville, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Elaine Sampson of Thackerville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Diann Hassanshahi of Thackerville, Carolyn and Ronnie Lopez also of Thackerville, and Amanda Teran of the home; aunts and uncles, Cricket Barnett of Gainesville, Rayford and Faye Lee of Thackerville, Johnny and Mary Forrest and Barbara Baker of Sanger, Texas; and cousins, Crystal Perkins, Brandon Sampson, Misty Perkins and Tina Spradling.
Bearers will be Jim Sampson, Ronnie Hilton, Raymond Daughty, Ronnie Lopez, Kenneth Daughty and Vince Allen.
Services will be directed by Kennedy Funeral Home, Marietta.
SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Flossie Minnie Colley, 94, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Moody officiating.
Mrs. Colley died Feb. 24, 1997, in Sulphur. She was born Sept. 27, 1902, at Cheek, to Easer and Mattie Smith Reed.
Reared in the Mill Creek area, she graduated from high school there and received her degree from East Central University. She taught school at Mill Creek, Sulphur and Oklahoma School for the Deaf before she retired in 1967 after 35 years of service. She was a member of Eastern Star, Tulip Garden Club and pioneer member of Cirrhosis Club. She and W.P. Colley were married Jan. 30, 1925, in Sulphur.
She is survived by her husband, of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Josephine Pace.
Clagg Funeral Home directed services.
RINGLING -- Services for Georgia Mae Evans, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ with Jimmy Morris and Ronnie Carroll officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans died Feb. 23, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born Nov. 11, 1907, at Manateau, to G.E. and Josephine Elliott McCann.
Reared at Atlee, she married Oscar Lee "Buck" Evans there Nov. 4 1923. He died Sept. 13 1989. The longtime Ringling resident was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by a son, Leonard, Ringling; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Dwayne McCarty, Allen Wade, Keith Blankenship, Billy Inselman, Kenny and Joe Joe Morris.
Services for Andrew Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 16 E. St. NE, with the Rev. Kenneth Wright officiating. Burial will be at Clearview Cemetery.
Johnson was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Ardmore, to the late Arthur and Gertie Johnson. He died Feb. 23, 1997, at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
He attended public schools in Ardmore, graduated from Douglass High School in 1939, and attended Langston University. He served in the United States Army from 1942-45. He was employed at Dunlap Oil Company for 45 years.
Andrew joined the First Baptist Church at an early age and throughout the years he served in various ministries and offices. These include the senior choir, superintendent and assistant superintendent of Sunday school, male chorus, trustee, deacon and chairman of deacons, brotherhood and as an aid to any organization that needed him.
He was also a member of Langston Alumni Association, American Legion Post 264, and was a charter member of the After 6 Club for 45 years.
He married Hazel "Bunny" Booker in 1955 and was a devoted, considerate and loving husband until his death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel "Bunny"; two brothers, Arthur "Bennie," Sacramento, Calif., and Raymond "Ray," Langston; special cousins, Bonnie Helen Smith and Arlandus "Brother" Curry, Ardmore, and William "Bill" Goosby, San Diego, Calif.; beloved nephew and nieces, Raymond Jr. "Bennie," San Diego, Janet Watson, Los Angeles, and Janese Johnson, Sacramento, Calif.; cousins and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathryn Monroe.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
