WILSON -- Services for Ida A. Tipps, 91, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ with Roy Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in Keller Cemetery.
Mrs. Tipps died March 1, 1997, in the Healdton hospital. She was born March 19, 1905, at Wheeler, Indian Territory, to Peter J. and Mary E. Knutson Patrick. She was reared in Wheeler, and married William Lonnie Taylor there in 1923. They moved to Wilson in 1952, where she worked for Finley's Cafe and for Mrs. Lindsey. Mr. Taylor preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1960. She married R.H. "Hack" Tipps Dec. 13, 1965. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, P.R. Taylor, June 11, 1985; three grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters. She was a longtime member of the Wilson Church of Christ.
Survivors include five daughters, Fern Hacker, Moreno Valley, Calif., Wyvonnia Keel, Norman, Wilma Carter, Bessie, Sharon Gray, Simon, and Imogene Greenroyd, Wilson; a son, Jerry Taylor, Dallas; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bearers will be Randy Hacker, Monty Tadlock, Greg Keel, Marty Taylor, Chuck Greenroyd and Shane Gray.
Glover Dewey Rutledge
STRATFORD -- Services for Glover Dewey Rutledge, 90, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cofer and the Rev. Joel Downing officiating. Graveside rites will follow at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Shawnee.
Born Sept. 6, 1906, at Parthanon, Ark., to Jefferson Davis and Nancy Jane Flippo Rutledge, he died Feb. 28, 1997, at a Pauls Valley hospital. He married Gladys P. Stewart on Sept. 9, 1927, at Tecumseh. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1973. He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cole W. Tidwell on June 15, 1994.
Rutledge grew up in Maud. He moved to Stratford in 1970 from Bridgeport, Texas, after retiring from Warren Petroleum Corporation. He married Verona Rigney, on Sept. 18, 1976, at Stratford. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Verona, of the home; one son, Frank Arlen Rutledge, Ardmore; one daughter, Retta Tidwell, Ardmore; two step-daughters, Nadine Lunsford, Savannah, Ga., and Lela Beth Cofer, Oklahoma City; one sister, Hazel Peters, Maud; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons.
James A. Watson
Services for James A. Watson, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Robert D. Lee officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Watson died Feb. 28, 1997, in the local hospital after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 11, 1911, in Ardmore, to Willis and Mary Goss Watson.
He had lived in Ardmore most of his life and was employed by Auto Electric Sales and Service many years. He was a Mason. He and Bertha Faye Cowan were married Jan. 26 1947, in Ardmore.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, James Brock, Ardmore; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Nicky Watson.
Vera Watson Mize
DOUGHERTY -- Services for Vera Gladys Watson Mize, 99, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dougherty Church of Christ with Jerry Gilbert officiating. Interment will be at Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mize died March 3, 1997, in Sulphur. She was born March 1, 1898, at Wynnewood, to Jeff and Sarah M. Edwards King.
A resident of Murray County most of her life, she was a homemaker and member of Dougherty Church of Christ. She and Gene Watson were married in 1917, at Drake. He died in January 1953. She and Artie L. Mize were married in 1959 at Sulphur. He died in December 1961. She was also preceded in death by twin daughters.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph and Byron Watson, Sulphur; a sister, Beatrice Thebaut, San Diego; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Fellon 'Red' Pickens
MILO -- Services for Fellon "Red" Pickens will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jehovah Baptist Church, Milo, with the Rev. W.J. Wallace officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Cemetery under the direction of Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pickens was born March 9, 1932, at Milo, to A.C. and Lou Shannon Pickens. She died March 2, 1997, at her home in Milo. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Delbert, Leoford and Leslie Pickens.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Johnson, Milo; four daughters, Cynthia Pickens, Los Angeles, Madeline Means, Oklahoma City, Regina Murray and Shawna Givens, Ardmore; four sisters, Mary McCullough, Riverside, Calif., Jennie Coulter, San Antonio, Texas, Vera Wright and Vivian Brown, Milo; and 12 grandchildren, among them Acea and Sharonda Pickens whom she reared, of the home.
Catherine F. Hamm
Services for Catherine F. Hamm, 64, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John P. Vrana officiating.
Mrs. Hamm died March 3, 1997, in a Houston hospital after an extended illness. She was born March 6, 1932, at Sulphur, to Roy and Adele Crane.
She moved from Oklahoma City to Ardmore in 1963 and married Tom Hamm here Jan. 11, 1964. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central University, and as teacher in the Ardmore school system, was instrumental in founding the gifted and talented program. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1987 and received the Chamber of Commerce Community Achievement Award in 1988. She assisted Vietnamese families relocating here with language and education, and during the last Olympics was a torch bearer as it came through Oklahoma. She was a member of the National and State Education associations.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Robert T., Dallas, and Michael C., Washington D.C.; and sister, Patricia Edwards, Oklahoma City.
Bearers will be Quoc, Viet, Tien, Tuan, Phi and Bo Nguyen.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer.

Jodie Labeth
Funeral service for Jody Cleve Labeth will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 1997, at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Ron Elmore officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Labeth died March 3, 1997, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Ardmore, and had lived in this area most of his life.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and while in Vietnam, served under the the Big Red One. He was a truck driver for Total Transport of Healdton and Ardmore and was a member of Dickson Baptist Church. He and the former Darlene Dewberry were married Nov. 24, 1975, in Ardmore.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home; a son, Jimmy D. Cross of Ardmore; three other children, Kevin, Shane and Tammy of Oklahoma City; his mother, Doreen Watson; and a sister, Cindy Muse of Ardmore; five grandchildren; five nieces; and four nephews. His father, Dewey Labeth, preceded him in death in 1972.
Bearers will be Randy Smith, Jim Williams, J.J. Tate, William Hunt, Doug Sanders and Billy Benton. Honorary bearers are Nolan Hester Jr., cousins and all Total employees.
John D. Barnes
SULPHUR -- Services for John David Barnes, 39, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Edward Rowls officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Barnes was born Sept. 1, 1957, at Wynnewood, to John T. and Loretta Hook Barnes.
He was reared in the Sulphur area and was a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Dee; and mother, Loretta Barnes, Sulphur; a daughter, Melanie Mahoney, Wilburton; three sons, Jeremy, Wilburton, Flint and Ethan, Salesville, Ark.; two sisters, Mary Mechler, Marietta, and Ellen Olive, Glendale, Ariz.; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.
Margaret E. 'Maggie' Means
BROMIDE -- Services for Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Means, 99, were scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Bromide First Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Hicks officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Wapanucka.
Mrs. Means died March 3, 1997, in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 23, 1897, in Asher, to William and Frankie Blot Green.
She had lived in Johnston County most of her life and was the widow of Charles Means. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Carl N., Birmingham, Ala., Calvin and W.B., Oklahoma City; a daughter, Wanda Epperson, Norman; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son; two daughters; a brother; and two sisters.
Bearers were Jim Thompson, Charles and Tom Epperson, Roger and Randy Means.

Margaret E. 'Maggie' Means

Mattie Chaney Hogan
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Mattie Geraldine Chaney Hogan, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tishomingo Nazarene Church with the Rev. Leo Sutterfield officiating. Interment will be at Tishomingo Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hogan died March 2, 1997, in Ardmore. She was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Fillmore, to John and Mattie Council Chaney.
She was the widow of Lee Hogan. They were married in Fillmore.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Walker, Kingston, and Tammy Pyeatt, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Joe Walker, Tishomingo; three sisters, Lorene Nickell, Ada, Clara Maxwell, Tishomingo, and Anna Deaton, Pasadena, Texas; four brothers, Talbert "Bud"Chaney, Houston, Robert Chaney, Tishomingo, John Chaney, Shepperd, Texas, and Billy Chaney, Kingston; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Walker; and two sisters, Helen Deaton and Minnie Rhode.

Jodie C. Labeth

Essewettah Myers
VELMA -- Graveside funeral service for Essewettah Myers will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 1997, at Velma Cemetery with the Rev. LeRoy Holman officiating.
Essewettah was born Dec. 8, 1911, at Sandtown, Ark., to W.T. Carter Sr. and Bertha Leona Barnes Carter. She died at her home in Ardmore on March 4, 1997.
She was married to Fred H. Myers in Gainesville, Texas, on May 1, 1929. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1946. She had been a resident of Ardmore the past 20 years and was a retired employee of the H.L. Hunt Co. She was active in the foster grandparent program and was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dolores Faught, Ardmore; two sons, Ted Myers, Florida, and Daniel Myers, New Jersey; three sisters, Ina Faye Olsen, California, Audean Norwood, Dallas, and Gloria Calvert, New Mexico; a brother, Everett Carter, Davis; six grandchildren, Mark and Greg Myers, Dallas, Tim Orndorff, Norman, Michelle Hess, Massachusetts, Lisa Hoffman, Pennsylvania, and Cheryl Myers, Florida; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Preston and W.T. Carter Jr.; and a grandson, Daniel Myers Jr.
