TISHOMINGO -- Services for Jack Woody Chaney, 70, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Corbin Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Lansdale officiating. Interment was at Tishomingo Cemetery.
Chaney died March 17, 1997, in Tishomingo. He was born July 24, 1922, at Fillmore, to Jack and Zuma Chaney.
A graduate of Fillmore High School, he married Bernice Bell Reed June 1, 1942, and had lived in Johnston County since 1982. He was an Army veteran, a member of Teamster's Union and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include a son, Garvin, Salida, Calif.; a daughter, Nancy Norton, Modesto, Calif.; a brother, Mickey, Tishomingo; a sister, Bonnie Beaver, Tishomingo; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bib Vanevenhaven, Nady Miller and Dell Chaney.
Bearers were Marty Chaney, Tommy Adams, Lonny Holdeman, Jay Bergner, Joe Clark and Sam Combs.
PURCELL -- Services for Weldon Jarman, 82, formerly of Mill Creek, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Jarman was born Sept. 5, 1914, at Gainesville, Texas. He died in the Purcell hospital. His wife, Pearl, died Nov. 11, 1996.
Survivors include daughters, Juanita Holbrook, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Joanne Sexton, Norman; a son, Eddie, Sulphur; stepdaughters, Norma Alexandra and Sue Van Dusen, Fort Smith, Ark.; stepsons, L.D. Scott, Marietta, and Louis Scott, Duncan; brothers, Odie, Ardmore, and Jack, Tishomingo; sisters, Ruby Lofton, Sulphur, Verdie Hill, Yakima, Wash., and Opal Lamb, California; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Buster and Orland; and sisters, Etta Payne and Jewel Rowe.
DENVER -- Services for Ardmore native Guy Williams Sr. will be conducted Friday in Denver.
Williams, who died March 16, 1997, was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Ardmore, to Unie and Wallace Williams. He was a 1949 graduate of Douglass High School.
Pipkin Funeral Home will direct services.
CUCAMONGA, Calif. -- Services for Ardmore native Darnell Williams were scheduled today in Cucamonga, Calif.
Williams, who died March 14, 1997, was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Ardmore, to Unie and Wallace Williams. He graduated from Douglass High School in 1942 and was a World War II veteran.
Pipkin Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Wilma Sims were at 11 a.m. today at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Mrs. Sims was born to the late Vernon Earl and Annie Myrtle Morton on July 5, 1919, at Hennepin. She died March 18, 1997, in the local hospital.
She had lived in Ardmore all her life and was retired from Daube's as a sales associate. She was a member of First Orthodox Baptist Church and the Mercy Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nephews, Buddy Morton, and his wife, Carolyn, and Richard Morton, and his wife, Charlotte, all of Ardmore; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Morton of Ardmore, Josie Rawlins of Oklahoma City, Stella Butler of Fort Collins, Colo., and Myrtle Sims of Ardmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Sims.
Pall bearers were Phillip Todd, G.E. Doty, Jerry Stout, Bill Roberts, Frank Thomas and Larry Harrell. Honorary bearers were Basil P. Mitchell, Max Roberson, William W. Waye, Wood Selvidge, great-nephews, Kevin, Brett and Chris Morton; and a great-niece, Cheryl Morton.
Graveside services for Lucille Williams will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Cormier officiating.
Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 27, 1910, at Whitewright Texas, to the late Grover C. and Flora Mae Wallace. She died March 19, 1997, in a local health care facility.
She married Elmer T. Williams at Springer in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Williams was retired from the Pruitt Produce Company and was a member of Memorial Christian Church. She had lived in Ardmore most of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Lonita, and her husband, Rene Delacruz, of Springer, and LouAnn, and her husband, Royce Hignight, of Biloxi, Miss.; grandchildren, Brett and Leah Harris of Springer, and Brad Hignight of Biloxi; a niece, Patsy Litke of Duncan; and nephew, J.B. Briscoe of Arkansas.
Services will be under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
DAVIS -- Services for Orbie G. "Jack" Johnson, Moore, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will be at Velma Cemetery.
Johnson died March 19, 1997, in Moore. He was born Feb. 2, 1925, at Duncan, to Ferman and Minnie Sealey Johnson.
A veteran of World War II, he was self employed in the welding and construction business and had lived in Davis until 1985 when he moved to Moore. He and Maxine Shipman were married Sept. 9, 1946.
Surviving him is Maxine Johnson; two daughters, Jackie Johnson, Grand Junction, Colo., and Charolette Adams, Moore; two sons, Richard and George, Davis; three sisters, Bernice Crenshaw, Moore, Vivian Butler, Newalla, and Margie Crumb, Healdton; a brother, Virgil, Moore; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Johnson and Josette Butler; and stepfather, Fred Nicholson.
Bearers will be Louie Harmon, J. C. Taliaferro, Herman Watson, Harold Roady, Joe and Jimmie Primrose. Honorary bearers are Vaughn Caldwell, Ellis Clymer, Dwight Payne, Jack Webb and Odell Orr.
MADILL -- Services for Pearl Clara Young, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Watts Memorial Chapel with Chris Webb officiating. Interment will be at Willis Cemetery.
Mrs. Young died March 20, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born June 5, 1913, at Fobb.
Reared in Willis, she married Leonard "Pete" Young on April 17, 1930, at Madill. They lived in Phoenix, Grapevine, Texas, and Bedford, Texas, before moving to Madill in 1974. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a former real estate broker.
She is survived by her husband, of Madill; three daughters, Sharon Henry, Willis, Peggy Page, Madill, and Loretta Koerber, Warsaw, Ky.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Bearers will be Scott Page, Monty Koerber, Pat Laird, John, Lonny and Robby Henry.
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Services for Lone Grove native Charles "Dee" Heartsill, 85, were Wednesday at Demuth Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
Heartsill died March 14, 1997. He was born Aug. 15, 1911, at Lone Grove, to John A. and Margaret E. Bond Heartsill.
A resident of Ardmore for many years, he moved to Oklahoma City in 1944 and established a refrigeration and air conditioning business. He sold real estate after he retired in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ruthell Heartsill, of the home; a daughter, Mary Wilmoth, Oklahoma City; brothers, Hobart, Norman and Dan, Ardmore; and a sister, Imogene Burton, Ardmore; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
HEALDTON -- Services for Elba Eugene "Gene" Martin, 55, will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Reser Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russell Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, with the Rev. Darryl Owen officiating.
Born June 23, 1941, in Sulphur, he died March 21, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital.
Mr. Martin was raised in New Mexico. After he returned to Oklahoma, he lived in Fox, Duncan and Seminole before he moved to Healdton in 1973.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a backhoe operator for Brady Welding before he suffered a stroke. He married Virginia Parsons June 29, 1964, in Duncan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David Martin, Westmont, N.J., and Steven Martin, Healdton; two sisters, Shirley Morris, Waurika, and Carol Harmon, Ardmore; three brothers, Bob Alexander, Fort Worth, Texas, Gary Martin, Healdton, and Billy Holbrook, Ardmore; and three grandchildren.
Bearers will be David Martin, Steven Martin, Glenn Stafford, John Earl Morris, Larry Harmon and Bobby Weatherford.
WAURIKA -- Services for Juanita Antrim, 83, long-time Waurika business owner, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Willis C. Worley Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Eckel officiating. Interment will be in the Waurika Cemetery.
Born Nov. 6, 1913, in Hastings to Jim and Harriett Hunter, she died March 21, 1997, at her home after an extended illness.
She grew up in the Hastings area and attended Pecan Grove Country School.
She married Homer Antrim Jan. 10, 1937. They farmed and operated a vending machine business. In 1944, they entered the music and game business and operated juke boxes in several counties. In 1967, Mrs. Antrim opened Juanita's Dress Shop and remained in business until her retirement in 1992.
She was a member of the Waurika Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, of the home, several nieces and a nephew.
SULPHUR -- Services for Ozella Millus, 76, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Cowley-Krien Chapel with the Rev. Teddie Bulla officiating. Interment in Resthaven, Oklahoma City.
Born April 20, 1920, in Bray, she died March 21, 1997, in her home.
An avid fisher, Mrs. Millus moved to Sulphur from Oklahoma City in 1979. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She married Chuck Millus. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Harvill, Sulphur, Charlene Goodson, Wapanucka, Evon Duke, Vernal, Utah, Shirley Sims, Enid, and Pat Hargis, Bloomfield, N.M.; two sons, Buddy Hankins, Midwest City, and Danny Hankins, Sulphur; four stepchildren, Chuck, Martha, Sue and Terry; three sisters, Goldie Barton and Muriel Dawson, Sulphur, and Elsie Conrad, Marlow; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Nevada June Hankins, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Bearers are Grat Bishop, Kevin Sims, Jeremy Hankins, Chuck Millus, Billy Hargis and Boyd Louderback. Honorary bearers are Tom Bingham, Craig Kirkegard and Marc Jerry.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
ELKTON, Ore. -- Jean Ball, 66, died March 19, 1997. No services were scheduled.
She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Wichita, Kan., to Earl and Jarrett Jones. A 1948 graduate of Midwest City High School, she married John Ball April 4, 1959. He preceded her in death in 1987. She had lived in Elkton since 1979.
Survivors include four sons, Kevin Ball, Elkton, Ore., Mike Ball, Drain, Ore., Mark Ball, Ridgecrest, Calif. and Tom Ball, Vancouver, Wash.; one daughter, Jeanine Alexander, San Anselmo, Calif.; two stepsons, John Ball, Nevada, and Charles Ball, Ridgecrest, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Margaret Thompson, Camarillo, Calif., and Kathy Keller, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Jeanett Martin, Lone Grove and Beverly Summer, Newalla; three brothers, Earle Jones, Albuquerque, N.M., Neal Jones, Marysville, Calif. and Christy Joe Jones, Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by two sons, Rodger Ball and Kenneth Ball.
MARIETTA -- Services for Clara Lee Smith, 74, Lone Grove, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.D. Choate officiating. Interment will be in the Bourland-Belleville Cemetery, Courtney.
Born Feb. 23, 1923, at Courtney, to Earl and Tilda Welch Blankenship, she died March 21, 1997, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Smith lived in Lone Grove six years, moving from Courtney. A retired secretary, she was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church. She attended the Lone Grove Senior Citizen Center and was an avid bingo player. She married Nat L. Smith April 29, 1975, in Marietta. He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1988.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Light, Lone Grove; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Blankenship and Jack Blankenship, and an infant daughter.
Bearers will be Randy Light, Bobby Light, Tadd Light, Lynn Evans, Larry Don Blankenship and Brendon Blankenship. Honorary bearers will be Larry Blankenship, Cotton Grant, Tankie Spivey, Haskell Blankenship, Leonard Evans and Gene Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
