MARIETTA -- Services for Jack Floyd, 77, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Tommy Higle and Judy Gayler officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore.
Floyd died March 25, 1997, at the local hospital. He was born July 9, 1919, in Ardmore, to Frank and Flora Irbin Floyd.
He moved to Marietta in 1993 from Fort Worth, Texas, and was retired from oil field services. He and Vivian Sipes were married March 29, 1951. She preceded him in death Aug. 4, 1990.
Survivors include a brother, Odell, Keller, Texas; and three sisters, Pat Free, Newton Square, Pa., Jo Henry, Atlanta, and Cecilia Brandenberger, Alameda, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.
Bearers will be James Moffett, Mike Buxton, Jack Drennan, Dick Michael, Bill and Rod Shankles.
MARIETTA -- Funeral service for Mary Martin McKinney Franklin, 89, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Beason officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Franklin died March 26, 1997, at her home. She was born Nov. 18, 1907, in Valley View, Texas, to J.L. and Sarah Elizabeth Davis Martin.
Mrs. Franklin had lived in Marietta since 1919 and was owner of Marietta Abstract from 1934 until 1978. She was also the Love County tag agent from 1934 to 1945 and served as Marietta city treasurer for 26 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her first husband, King L. McKinney, in 1971; and her second husband, William H. Franklin, in 1983.
She is survived by a sister, Elenora Clark, Oklahoma City; two nephews, Joe Pete and Larry Martin, Marietta; a sister-in-law, Wilma Martin, Marietta; several nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Bob Colston, Bob Michael, Ron Colston, Clark Tipton, Claude Brannan and Dub Bell. Honorary bearers are Bob McClain, Rick Brannan, Willis Choate, Bill Looney, Dr. Tom O'Connor and Tom Brannan.
The family has requested that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, Marietta.
The family will receive friends at Kennedy Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
GRADY -- Graveside rites for Dwight W. Lester, Wylie, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grady Cemetery under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home.
Lester died March 25, 1997, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1947, at Blythe, Calif., to William D. and Edith Wright Lester, and reared at Ringling.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, of the home; two sons, Brandon, New Hope, Texas, and Jeffrey, Wylie; a daughter, Rianna Lester, Wylie; two stepsons, Michael Monsour, Bridgeport, Texas, and David Brown, Wylie; two brothers, Larry, Ringling, and David, Plano, Texas; a half brother, Anthony Smith, Italy, Texas; three sisters, Wilma Folsom, Oklahoma City, Carol Christian, Plano, and his twin, Diana Young, Lucas, Texas; a half sister, Sarah Mounger, Plano; three stepbrothers, Bill Smith, Ringling, Kenneth Smith, Grady, and Don Smith, Aurora, Colo.; and a stepsister, Mary Jo Castle, Ringling.
Services for Marda C. Turnage, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Robert D. Lee officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Turnage died March 26, 1997, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was born Dec. 2, 1909, at Marsden, to Joe Ab and Della Harris Walker.
She taught school at Meadowbrook School from 1930 to 1935. She and Wayne Howard Turnage were married Sept. 22, 1934, in Ardmore.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; two daughters, Jean Wood, Wichita Falls, and Glenda Conradi, Bosier City, La.; a sister, Clifford Shipman, Ardmore; a brother, Omer Walker, Roswell, N.M.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Walker; and sister, Eunice Wood.
Bearers will be Bill Roberts, Leroy Stacey, Haywood Vaughan, E.V. Thomas, Mark McLeod and Danny Wilson.
MARIETTA -- Services for Lafayette M. Walden, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. W.Z. Dement officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
Walden died March 26, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born May 19, 1911, at Thackerville, to William E. and Mary A. Roberts Walden.
He married Willie Ethel Black in 1933 at Marietta, and lived 43 years in Wichita Falls, Texas, before he retired as a city bus driver. He returned to Marietta in 1979. He was a Mason and member of Marietta Christian Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Frank, Quanah, Texas; a daughter, Loretta Tellier, Allen, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe, in 1953; five brothers; and two sisters.
Bearers will be James Tellier, Danny Alexander, Lawrence Black, David Kerr, Joel Hodges and Tony Hearell.
Services for retired Army Col. Odell D. "O.D." Williams will be held Saturday, March 29, 1997, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Revs. Roger Wood and Burney Cope officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Williams was born on May 23, 1917, near Wilson, Okla., to Larkin Eugene "Pete" and Carrie Reeves Williams. He passed this life on March 26, 1997, in the local hospital at the age of 79 years, 10 months and three days.
Williams had been a resident of the Ardmore area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1961 during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the World War II National Defense Medal, the Oak Leaf Cluster and World War II Victory Medal. While in the Korean Conflict, he received the Korean Service Medal and Korean National Defense Medal.
He married Norma Massey on Sept. 16, 1941, at Berwyn, Okla. As a military couple, they lived throughout the world including Trinidad, France, Virginia, Kansas, Washington, Missouri and California. They moved back to Ardmore in 1969 where they lived on a farm.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; two sons, Col. Ronald N. Williams of Edwardsville, Ill., and Gerald R. Williams of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Wanda Barnum of Albuquerque, N.M., and Melba Wallace of Ardmore; four brothers, Ardell of Bakersfield, Calif., James of Tampa, Fla., Bobby Joe of Ardmore, and Doyle Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandsons, Cadet Edward O. Williams of West Point and Matthew G. Williams of Northwestern University, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene and Billy Ray Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
Services for Marion A. Gardner will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.B. Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Cemetery.
Gardner died March 25, 1997, in Ardmore. He was born July 29, 1910, at Bokhoma, to Robert and Victoria Gardner.
He married Evelyn Farve on Nov. 21, 1928, at Haworth and retired from Bell Refinery. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994; and a son, Buck, in 1975.
Survivors include three daughters, Victoria Jones, Wilson, Kathryn Gardner, San Jose, Calif., and Lydia Seekins, Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Oscar, Dallas; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Gary McBride, Jimmy Farve, Glenn Seekins, Luke Wood, Greg Jones, Chad, Clark and Oscar Gardner Jr.
Memorial services for Laura Geraldine Massey Hemphill, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Wood, Burney Cope and Leslie Forrest Massey officiating.
Mrs. Hemphill died March 28, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Mesa, Ariz., to Ira A. and Bertha Haney Massey.
She is survived by two stepchildren, Jerry, Colorado, and Becky Courtney, Texas; and a sister, Norma Massey Williams, Ardmore. She was preceded in death by first husband, Alton Irwin; her second husband, retired Army Col. James Hemphill; and two sons, Master Sgt. Van Allen Irwin and Johnny Maurice Irwin.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City 73104.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
HEALDTON -- Services for Bill Raper, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Fox officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Raper died March 25, 1997, in the local hospital after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 7, 1916, at Milburn, to William M. and Mary Miller Raper.
He moved to Healdton as a child, and as a young man worked for Henry Halls's Grocery and as a soda jerk and delivery man for McKnight Drugs. He later worked for several oil field companies and as a truck driver. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church and American Legion. He and Christina Mae West were married Feb. 10, 1939, in Healdton. She preceded him in death Nov. 4, 1973.
Survivors include two sons, Billy D. Rogers, Oklahoma City, and Ronald E. Raper, Tuttle; a daughter, Linda G. Lambert, Healdton; a sister, Mary Tolbert, Wynnewood; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be David West, Bob Craft, Winston and Jim B. Tolbert, Mike and Terry Gillum.
MARIETTA -- Graveside rites for David Autry Griffin, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Cemetery with Dr. Stan Beason officiating.
Griffin died March 26, 1997, at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1930, at the Greenville community to James P. and Berta M. Peery Griffin.
A lifelong resident of Love County, he served with the Army ski patrol unit during the Korean War and was a retired oil field worker. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavelle Galloway and Chlorita Griffin; and a brother, Bill.
Survivors include a son, David W.; and three brothers, Vernon and Warren, Marietta, and Paul, Moore; and a sister, Lavonne Roe, Dallas.
Bearers will be David Patty, Jimmy D. Fincher, Buddy Motsenbocker, Doug Burger, Gary and Larry Hull.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Howard Brock Haney will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Central Church of Christ with Jessie Whitlock and Robert L. Gregg officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Howard was born March 18, 1914, at Berwyn to Huban Harrison and Bertha Irene Brock Haney. He passed from this life March 28, 1997, at the age of 83 years and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde, Marvin and R.J.; and a sister, Mary Alma Roberts.
He married Geneva Mae Carpenter Sept. 29, 1937, at Berwyn. Howard retired from Total Petroleum Company of Ardmore in 1977. He was a longtime farmer-rancher in Carter County near Ardmore. He served 14 years as an elder of the Central Church of Christ. He also served as a deacon of the Westside Church of Christ during a six-year residence in Duncan.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva, of the home; one son, Dr. Howard Wayne Haney and his wife, Karol, Lawton; two daughters, Patsy A. and her husband, Everett Bedford and Betty Jo and her husband, Dr. Steven Gregg, Duncan; eight grandchildren, Anthony W. Haney and Audra Haney, Stanley Bedford, David Bedford, Joe Pat Bedford, Charles Gregg, Amy Gregg and Sarah Gregg; two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Morgan Bedford; and his sister-in-law, Juanita Carpenter.
Bearers will be grandsons and David Johnson.
Services for Idiller Elizabeth Baker, 85, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Custer officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Sept. 10, 1911, at Lockesburg, Ark., to James and Nora Goodwin Baker, she died March 28, 1997, at Ardmore.
Mrs. Baker was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and had worked in the church nursery for a number of years.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Melody Baker, Ardmore; one granddaughter, Ginger Hudson, Ardmore; one grandson, Sandy Baker, Denton, Texas; one stepgrandson, Bruce Withrow, Lone Grove; a stepgranddaughter, Natalie Withrow, Lone Grove; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bearers are H.A. Hodges, Ken French, Eddie Bray, Carl McGinness, Don Flanagan and Boyd Howell.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
MADILL -- Graveside rites for Jessie Lee Walling, 80, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodbury Forest Cemetery with the Rev. J.D. Leavelle officiating.
Born Nov. 18, 1916, at Marietta to Robert Lee and Ellen Estelle Evans Walling, he died March 27, 1997, at the Ardmore hospital following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Walling on Jan. 13, 1984; and two grandsons.
Walling married Iva Christine Sons on July 20, 1937, in Carter County. He was a self-employed trucking contractor. Walling was a member of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Walling, Marietta, Sammy Walling, Ardmore, and William Walling, Comanche, Texas; two daughters, Nadine Taylor, Ardmore, and Bernice Furrh, Mannsville; his former wife, Christine; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary bearers will be all grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
