Funeral services for Cleo "Fat" Halstied, 90, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Lawrence Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
Halstied was born April 19, 1906, at Ran, Love County, Indian Territory, and died April 10, 1997, following a train-pedestrian accident.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Ran School.
A lifetime resident of Love County, Cleo was the seventh of 14 children born to LaBrasko and Rosa Savannah Godwin Halstied. He was a gardener and had worked for Anna Ruth and the late Charles Milor Sr. for numerous years. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with friends and family. A self-made carpenter, he never stopped doing his own carpentry jobs -- roofing, building or painting. He was honored as Love County's Pioneer King during the Frontier Days Celebration in 1996.
He had a great love for family. He is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Local nephews are Less McCarrell, Arnell Halstied, Perry and Hayze Halstied, all of Marietta; nieces, Dorothy Lornes, Lovetta Douglass and Etta Halstied, Marietta, and Willie Kirk, Ardmore; two sisters-in-law, Cornelia Halstied, Ardmore, and Maybelle Halstied, Oklahoma City.
The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday from 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Bearers are nephews, Less McCarrell, Arnell Halstied, Clouis Halstied, Gary Halstied, Russel Halstied and Perry Halstied.
Flower bearers are nieces, Elnora Neal, Dedie Watkins, Margrette Johnson, Carole Dixon, Billie Caro and Dorothy Lornes.
Private memorial services will be held for Shirley Otis "Jack" Brown, 78, at a later date.
Born June 8, 1918, at Dexter, Texas, to Don Carlos and Betty Mae Green Brown, he died April 11, 1997, at a local hospital.
Brown had been a resident of Ardmore for the past three years, moving here from Madill. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a farmer for various produce farms.
Survivors include one brother, Marcie Brown, Ardmore.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Graveside rites for Thomas A. Spradling, 49, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Cemetery with James Moffett officiating.
Born May 19, 1947, at Marietta to Edker and Bela Bell Stephens Spradling, he died April 11, 1997, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David
Spradling had lived most of his life in Marietta. He married Rose Ann Williams on March 24, 1995 at Dallas. He was a truck driver and of the Pentecostal belief. Spradling had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Thomas Alva Spradling, Lawton; three daughters, Brenda Lee Gorrell and Lori Ann Wilieford, both Sterling, and Kimberly Hare, Virginia; three stepsons, Jerry and James Berry, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Jesse Berry, Marietta; one stepdaughter, JoAnn Berry, Marietta; two brothers, Bobby and Ronnie Spradling, both Marietta; four sisters, Rosie Brown, Marietta, Delois Howe, Sherman, Texas, Wanda Hacker, St. Jose, Texas, and Belinda Harp, Calera; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. today.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Services for George Dillard Zimmerman, 46, Burneyville, were Saturday at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with John Kennedy officiating.
Born April 29, 1950, at Oklahoma City to George D. Sr. and Mamie Reed Catolos, he died April 11, 1997, at his residence.
Zimmerman had lived at Falconhead for the past 20 years. He was a restaurant employee in the Oklahoma City area and attended the Nazarene Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, of the home; one brother, James Carl Zimmerman, Burneyville.
PURCELL -- Services for Clara Ruth Keltner Coulter, 83, were held Saturday at Memorial Assembly of God Church. Interment was at McAlister Cemetery, Overbrook, under the direction of Little's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Coulter died April 10, 1997, in Purcell. She was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Gainesville, Texas.
She had lived in Gainesville and Marietta before moving to Lexington 10 years ago. She was the widow of E.A. Coulter who died Sept. 2, 1971.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara R. Claunch, Lexington, and Brenda Ringwald, Purcell; two sons, Jim Lawson, Marietta, and Max Lawson, Oklahoma City; stepson, Jimmy Coulter, Ardmore; three sisters, Lorraine Mitchell, Inez Dvorak and Nina Tamplin, Gainesville; a brother, Lemoyne Keltner, Garland, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, T.J.; stepson, Donald Coulter; sisters, Lee Ora Beavers, Mary Hurt; brothers, John, Guy, Ilus, Estel and Roy Keltner.
Funeral service for Charles William "Charlie " Rhyne, 61, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel conducted by the Rev. Roger Wood, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Masonic graveside rites and burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Son of the late Charles Gay and Ruby Lee Smith Rhyne, he died Saturday, April 12, 1997, in the local hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept. 20, 1935, in Ardmore, he had lived here all his life.
Rhyne served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1957 and while stationed at Connelly Air Force Base, Waco, Texas, he was married to Nellie Ann Glaze on Feb. 18, 1956. He returned to Ardmore in March of 1957 and purchased the Ardmore Cycle Shop which he operated until his death.
A member of Asbury United Methodist Church, he was a founding member of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith Association and received special recognition in 1996 for 28 years of outstanding service. A past director, he taught locksmith classes for the organization and had been a member of Associated Locksmiths of America since 1982.
Active in Masonry, he was past worshipful master of Masonic Lodge 31, AF&AM, a member of Masonic Lodge 25 AF&AM of Lone Grove, KYCH and was past patron of Chapter 70 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Ann, of the home; a son, Michael "Bo," and his wife, Cara Rhyne, Ardmore; three daughters, Mary Ann, and her husband, Bobby Phillips, Ardmore, Flora Barrick, also of Ardmore, Martha, and her husband, Steve Livsey, Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Patricia Fuller, Ardmore, and Frances Tate, Haltom City, Texas; four grandchildren, Brandon Rhyne, Dustin Barrick, Robert Phillips and Sarah Livsey; also two special lifelong friends, Susie and Bill Swatzel. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Claude and Jimmy Rhyne; two sisters, Brenda Marine and Kathryn Berry; and son-in-law, Tony Barrick.
Serving as bearers will be Phillip Eggenburg, David Spears, Charlie Tanner, Mike Byford, Eric McLaughlin and H.F. "Doc" Godwin. Honorary bearers include all Masonic brethren of Ardmore and Lone Grove lodges.
The family will receive friends at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home from 6:30 until 7:30 this evening.
Funeral service for Viola Etta Bohm will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with Elder Dennis Kreie officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Bohm died April 12, 1997, in a local health care facility. She was born May 23, 1903, at Cloudcroft, N.M., to William and Eliza Marie Anderson Kent.
She had lived in Ardmore 24 years. She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Winchester of Ardmore; stepson, Glen Bohm, Dewey, Ariz.; grandson, Jerry Winchester of Duncan; two granddaughters, Carrie Rhoades, Carrollton, Texas, and Suzanne Ferrell, Plano, Texas; two great-grandaughters, Leigh Winchester, Duncan, and Jill Rhoades, Carrollton, Texas.
Bearers will be Larry Winchester, Jerry Don Winchester, Jerry Lee Winchester, Bentley Ferrell, Mike Winchester and Curtis Winchester. Honorary bearer is Coleman Rhoades.

ROGERS, Ark. -- Services for Robert "Don" Porterfield, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers, Ark. Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Willis Funeral Home.
Porterfield died April 11, 1997, in a Springdale, Ark., hospital. He was born Feb. 12, 1929, at Waurika, to Roy P. and Edna Earl Porterfield.
He was a machinist for Teledyne Ryan Air Craft Industry in California before he retired after 34 years of service. He moved to Arkansas from San Diego, in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of the home; a son, Phil Crabtree, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister, Nadine J. Porterfield, Waurika; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends at Willis Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until noon Wednesday.

Graveside rites for L.K. Butler, 84, Wilson, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at a Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Darel Bunch officiating.
Butler died April 14, 1997, in a Wilson health care facility. He was born Jan. 11, 1913, at Milo, to Ad and Ida Keller Butler.
Reared at Milo, he attended school at Thurston Grove and married Emma Mae Brown June 29, 1942, in Ardmore. They moved to Upland, Calif., in 1949 and he worked as an upholsterer at Randall and J's Top Shop before he became self-employed. He retired and returned to Wilson in 1993. The World War II veteran was a member of Pamona, Calif., Moose Lodge and First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Claude W. "Butch" Butler, Wilson; four brothers, Jack Butler, Wilson, Carroll Butler, Ada, Fred and A.D. Butler, Ardmore; two grandchildren, Karen Goff, Wilson, and Robert C. Butler, Lewisville, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Nicol Goff, Kayle Butler and Robert Justin Butler; several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Johnnie Mae Foreman, 46, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Central Church of Christ with Samuel Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
Mrs. Foreman died April 12, 1997 following an auto accident.
She is survived by three sons, Curtis, Norman, Stefon and Stevosky, Ardmore; two daughters, Degayle Carter and Ovia Foreman, Ardmore; three brothers, Stoney Jackson, Moore, Wilbon and James Franklin, Ardmore; three sisters, Wildurtlene Franklin, Aarnett Smith and Shirley Williamson, Ardmore; and five grandchildren.
CONNERVILLE -- Services for Kenneth Wayne Hawkins will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Blue Baptist Church in Connerville with the Revs. Ellis Risenhoover and James Tisdell officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Hills Cemetery, Fittstown, under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Hawkins died April 13, 1997, in Ada. He was born Aug. 28, 1947, at Talihina, to William D. and Dora Jeff Hawkins.
He was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc and employed in heating and air conditioning. He was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War and member of Blue Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Larry, Connerville; and a sister, Peggy Factor, Ada.
Bearers will be John Hawkins, Daniel Thomas, Gene Williams, Donnie Worchester, Tom and Edward Lyda.
CONDON GROVE -- Graveside rites for Alvin Tyler Davis were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Condon Grove Cemetery with Joey Lansdale officiating.
Davis died April 11, 1997, at Claremore. He was born Jan. 27, 1916, at Wolf City, Texas, to Alvin J. and Wanda Tyler Davis.
A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Johnston County 42 years, and was a prisoner of war 13 years while serving in the Air Force in World War II. He married Dovie Mae Ritchie April 12, 1946, at Durant.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Janice Pendley, Broken Arrow, and Wanda Davis, Newcastle; a brother, Charles, Durant; three sisters, Mildred Farmer, Durant, Nonu Kappel, New Martinsville, W.Va., and Mary Maddox, Seattle. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janis Robinson and Billie Fuller; and two brothers, Carl and Richard.
Honorary bearers were John Sneed, Travis Pendley, Brian Little, Kenne Locke, William and John Davis.
