RINGLING -- Services for Florence May Williams, 93, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. J.W. Ray and Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams died April 14, 1997, in an Ardmore health care facility. She was born Sept. 15, 1903, at Clarksville, Texas, to Oscar L. and Mary E. Ward Brandon.
She lived in Texas until age 16, then moved to Valliant, then moved to Courtney. She married Roy N. Williams in 1923 and they moved to Zaneis in 1944. She moved to Ringling following his death May 16, 1954. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Cantwell, Feb. 4, 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Moore, Fort Worth, Texas, and Bobby Talifaferro, Lone Grove; a son, Darrel, Lone Grove; two sisters, Effie Pruitt, Sacramento, Calif., and Bessie Baxley, San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Floyd Brandon, Bonanza, Ark., and Virgil Brandon, Granbury, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons, Ray Moore, Ricky Cantwell, John Taliaferro, Chris Potts, Roy and Roger Williams.
SULPHUR -- Services for Wilma Jean Mann, 63, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Abundant Life Church with Jack Covey officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mann died April 14, 1997, at her home. She was born March 17, 1934, at Shady Point, to George and Vera Clark Maynor.
She had lived in Sulphur most of her life and had been a bookkeeper at the Artesian Motel, later the Chickasaw Motor Inn, 16 years.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Sheedy, Benjamin, Texas, and Redonna Blackburn; four brothers, Kenneth Maynor, Olivehurst, Calif., Tony Maynor, Marysville, Calif., Bill Maynor, Panama, and George Maynor Jr., Wister; four sisters, Ruth Fox, Wichita, Kan., Jo Maner, Collinsville, June Horowitz, Tulsa, and Mary Tipton, Houston; and two grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jeremy Hall, Jason Henry, Scott Griffis, John Cagle, Brian Carpenter and Billy Mac Peterson.
COMANCHE -- Graveside rites for Isabel C. Barnes VanBebber were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Comanche Cemetery.
Mrs. VanBebber died April 13, 1997, in Wapanucka. She was born Dec. 17, 1911, at Comanche, to Richard and Dora Presley Barnes.
She married Buster VanBebber Dec. 17, 1927, at Mountain View and had lived in Johnston County six years. She formerly worked in the shipyards and raised game birds.
Survivors include two sons, Billy and David, Homeland, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia McCurry, Wapanucka; a brother, Richard Barnes, Freedom, Calif.; and sister, Elizabeth Dufur, Sacramento, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Bobbie Holdaway; a sister, Clele Barnes; a brother, Phil Barnes; a grandson; and great-grandson.
Honorary bearers were Billy VanBebber, Jim Holdaway, O'dell McCurry, Robert, David and Stormy Woods.
Corbin Funeral Home directed services.
FREDERICK -- Services for Opal Ethel Lax, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the 13th and Josephine Church of Christ. Interment will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lax died April 12, 1997, in Frederick. She was born Nov. 1, 1932, at Milo.
She was a former home health care provider and member of the Church of Christ. She married Timothy Lax Jr. July 7, 1949, in Vernon, Texas.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Walker, Shirley Lax and Debra Crowder, Frederick; four sons, Leonard, Fayetteville, N.C. , Ronnie, Donald and David, Amarillo, Texas; four sisters, Juanita Lee and Louise Wren, Ardmore, Marie Shaw and Lois Miller Frederick; two brothers, Louis Stevenson, Milo, and Theodus Stevenson, Frederick; 24 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Sue Grace Wier will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 1997, in McClure Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Wade Paschal will officiate. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
Sue Grace Wier was born Jan. 16, 1901, at Delia, Texas. She is the last of 11 children born to Joe L. and Alice Giles Stone. She departed this life on April 15, 1997, in the local hospital.
She married Robert Reid Wier at Corsicana, Texas, in 1928. They moved to Ardmore 50 years ago from McAlester. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1963.
She attended teachers college in Texas, attended the University of Colorado and was a graduate of the Palmer Institute of Chicago. She taught school at various schools in Texas before moving here. She was a published poet, having poetry published in a number of magazines and books. Many pieces of her poetry were read on radio by Don McNeil on The Breakfast Club. She was also an avid bridge and rummy card player. She was a past member of the YWCA and various Y clubs. For 50 years she was an active member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three nieces Anna Mary Atchley, Chattanooga, Tenn., Winkie Stroube, Dallas, and Bette Wells, Dallas; her especially beloved friends, Judy Edmonds and Sheila Altom, Ardmore; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph P. and Mickey Wier, Fort Worth, Texas.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
DENISON, Texas -- Services for Shellman L. Smith will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home.
Smith died April 14, 1997, at his home. He was born May 19, 1926, at Frederick.
He married Ruby Lee Adams July 16, 1944, at Tishomingo, and retired from the the Air Force as a chief master sergeant after 29 years of service. He also retired from the Grayson Governmental Data Center. He was a deacon at Parkside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Carol Green, Spartanburg, S.C., LaDonna Griggs, Oklahoma City, and Dalores Wheeler, Calistoya, Calif.; a son, Shellman; and brother, Thomas, Denison; a sister, Shirley Welch, Chickasha; a half brother, Terry, Ardmore; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ruth Lea Chance will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 1997, at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Baxley officiating, he will be assisted by the Rev. Joe Wiggins. Graveside services will follow at Hewitt Cemetery at Wilson.
Mrs. Chance passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore. Ruth Lea McKee was the ninth child born to Lillie Alice Herrell McKee and Josiah Andres McKee on Sept. 9, 1913, in Garvin County, Okla.
She and Boyet V. Chance were united in marriage on June 12, 1930 in Wilson, Okla. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1954. To this union was born four children, Dolores, Gordon, Jimmy and Carolyn.
Ruth was a member of Zaneis Baptist Church and had been a resident of the Zanies and Wilson communities before moving to Ardmore. She never forgot all the kindness and love shown her and her husband by their many friends and members of Zaneis Baptist Church.
Ruth was a widow at a very early age and worked at the Zaneis School to support her two children still at home. In 1964, she moved to Ardmore where she operated a day care center and worked at the Ardmore and Memorial hospitals. She was a very hard working woman who valued education and was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren, many of whom are college graduates.
Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and J.B. Means, Ardmore; a son, Gordon Chance, Ardmore; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Leah Chance, Hurst Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Clarence Johnson, Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Linda Smith, Ronnie Means, Steve Means, Gary Chance, Lori Ordonez, Brian Chance, Alicia Chance and Curtis Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors.
Serving as pall bearers will be grandsons, and Victor Ordonez and David Smith.
Graveside services for Claudia Edna Stoner will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery with Father John Vrana officiating.
Miss Stoner died April 16, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Oklahoma City.
Daughter of the late Foster Ellsworth and Hazel Mae Stoner, she had lived in Ardmore since 1959, moving here from Houston, Texas. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oklahoma City in 1954 and retired in 1986 from Memorial Hospital of Southern Oklahoma after 28 years of service as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a sister, Lila Allen of Dallas; nephews, Jake and Joe Allen of San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Marcus Allen, in 1980.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Funeral services for Wayne C. Campbell will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wade Paschal officiating. Interment will be at Wynnewood Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Wayne was born Jan. 6, 1942, at Wewoka. He died April 14, 1997, in the local hospital.
Married to the former Carol Johnson on Nov. 15, 1959, at Reno, Nev., he was the owner of the Campbell Oil Co. and had lived in Ardmore the past 25 years, moving from Fremont, Calif. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; three sons, Rick, and his wife, Stacy, David, and his wife, Shelly, and Mike Campbell; his mother, Pauline Holt; and brother, Chandler, all of Ardmore; a sister, Norma Jean Fentem of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Kristi Claxton, Garrett, Carlie, Ian and Grayson Campbell, Ashton Leutner, Megan Gregory and Raechel Gregory. He was preceded in death by his father, N.D. Campbell; and stepfather, Ed Holt.
Pall bearers will be Doug Brooks, Jim Lasley, Robert Fite, Larry Newell, Gary Yarbrough and Bobby Bramlett. Honorary bearers will be Walter White and Jack Fentem.
DAVIS -- Services for Hershel Lee Digby Sr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home chapel with Dr. David Eggenberg and the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Digby died April 15, 1997, at his home. He was born May 21, 1912, at Gooseneck, to Willie D. and Ider Pembelton Hunt Digby.
A lifelong resident of this area, he was a carpenter, working for a number of years for Dale Lumber Co. He was a disabled veteran of World War II. He and Melba Martha Bell were married April 11, 1940, in Ardmore. She preceded him in death April 13, 1965. He and Vinnie Watson Eaves were married in May 1971.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Hershel Jr. and Thomas, Davis; a brother, Roscoe, Marietta; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.
SULPHUR -- Services for Jimmy Dale Wood, 46, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Swain officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Wood died April 16, 1997, at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1950, to Floyd L. and Mearl R. Dodson Wood.
He had lived here all his life and was employed as a laborer. He was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Wilkerson, Houston; a brother, Johnny; and sister, Bobby Sledd, both of Sulphur; and a grandchild.

HEALDTON -- Services for Eva Shrader, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reser Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Hurshel Baker officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mrs. Shrader died April 16, 1997, in the local hospital after an extended illness. She was born Sept. 24, 1909, at Graham, to Lory and Estelle Huckaby McLain.
A resident of this area most of her life, she married Odis Shrader March 21, 1928, in Healdton, and lived in California in the early 1960s before moving back to Healdton 30 years ago. She had been a waitress for many area restaurants, including Opal's Cafe.
She is survived by four grandchildren, whom she raised, Treva Fleischmann, Houston, Robin Garza, San Antonio, Twyla Throneberry, Lone Grove, and Shane Dunn, Indonesia; a sister, Lena Soulier, Sacramento; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; and a daughter, Jerry Dunn, in 1982.
Bearers will be Alan Throneberry, Buddy Schofield, Gene McLain, Denny, Dub and Ken Griffin.
