Graveside rites for Nora Beatrice Scribner, 81, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Johnny Elmore officiating.
Mrs. Scribner died April 29, 1997, at a local health care facility. She was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Gordonville, Texas, to John and Viola Jones McAlister.
Married to Walter Scribner Dec. 27, 1933, she moved to Ardmore from Madill in 1953 and was a former waitress at Bill and Barb's Restaurant. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1991.
She is survived by two daughters, Odessa Bailey and Yuvonda Hale, Ardmore; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.
Nephews served as bearers.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home directed services.
VELMA -- Services for Eva Maye Strickland, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Friday the Velma Church of Christ with Ronnie Worsham and John Werhan officiating. Interment will be at New Velma Cemetery.
Mrs. Strickland died April 30, 1997, at her home. She was born July 16, 1916, at Velma, to Cal and Essie Arnold Couey.
She married Guy Strickland Nov. 1, 1931, in Velma. He preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1981. She was owner of Eva's Cafe many years.
Survivors include three sons, Guy, DeQueen, Ark., Jerry, Tussy, and Bill, Velma; four daughters Shirley Breen, Spokane, Wash., Joyce Bright, Barbara Tadlock and Pat Jenkins, Velma; two brothers, Cain Couey, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Leon Couey, Duncan; five sisters, Eula Little, Velma, Dorothy Fisher and Billie Kitchen, Oklahoma City, Lucille Knight, Sayre, and Peggy Rowtan, Dallas; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Bailes-Polk-Brooks Funeral Home, Duncan, will direct services.
THACKERVILLE -- Services for Bessie Irene Wolfe, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Thackerville Community Church of Christ with the Rev. David E. Whittington officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Wolfe died April 29, 1997, in the Marietta hospital. She was born Jan. 27, 1917, at Connerville, to Wiley P. and Cora Russell Sampson.
She had lived in Love County most of her life and was employed by Marietta Sportswear and Marietta Bakery before she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She and Jess Merl Wolfe were married Sept. 17, 1935, in Thackerville. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Odell and O.C. Sampson; six sisters, Lizzie, Doshia, Pecolia, Lois, Pauline and Jewell; and three half brothers, Marvin, Jim and Ive.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth, Thackerville, and Phillip, Gainesville, Texas; two sisters, Pashey Rains, Thackerville, and Geneva Webb, Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
Bearers will be David Wolfe, Wesley Smith, Harold Cain, Roger Craft, Paul Webb and Eddie Sampson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening at Kennedy Funeral Home, Marietta.
HEALDTON -- Services for Bill Andrews, 48, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron McCaslin, the Rev. Philip Fox and the Rev. Larry Craig officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Born Dec. 18, 1948, at Vinita to Homer and Nancy Johnston Andrews, he died May 1, 1997, from injuries he received in an automobile accident near Purcell that also killed his wife, Cindy, and a son, Josh.
He moved to Healdton in 1976 as the manager of Pizza Hut. He married Cindy Holder on Jan. 7, 1977, at Healdton. Andrews went to work for Winn-Dixie in Arlington, Texas, and worked in Oklahoma City before moving back to Healdton in 1982 to operate Walt's Kwik Check. He later worked for BJ's and Vacco before attending nursing school at Murray State College where he was to graduate later this month.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristen Andrews, of the home; two sons, Adam Sooter, Tahlequah, and Eric Sooter, Vinita; his mother, Nancy Stanley, Vinita; a brother, Dick Andrews, Hot Springs, Ark.; and two grandsons.
Bearers are Kent Chappell, Mike Davis, Donny Hacker, Les Hacker, Rick Hutchinson and Jug Pickelsimer.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.

Born May 20, 1954, at Odessa, Texas, to Walter W. and Betty Jo Baker Holder, she died May 1, 1997, from injuries she received in an automobile accident near Purcell that also killed her husband, Bill, and her son, Josh.
She moved with her family in 1964 to Healdton. After graduating from Healdton High School, she attended Draughon School of Business in Oklahoma City. She married Bill Andrews on Jan. 7, 1977, at Healdton. Mrs. Andrews worked at Colvert Dairy in Ardmore until moving to Arlington in 1977 and Oklahoma City in 1979. She and her family moved back to Healdton in 1982 and operated Walt's Kwik Check. She graduated from nursing school at Murray State College in 1991. She worked in home health care and for Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Andrews was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristen Andrews, of the home; her mother, Betty Holder, Healdton; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Sue and David McCaslin, Owasso, and Debbie and Wes Hacker, Healdton; two nephews, Michael McCaslin, Owasso, and Danny Pickelsimer, Healdton; her uncle and aunt, Ray and Martha Holder, Sanger, Texas
Bearers will be Mike Puckett, Freddy Tayar, Larry Emerson, Danny Bray, Mike Weaver and Lavell Ingle.

Born Sept. 27, 1983, at Ardmore, he died May 1, 1997, from injuries he received in an automobile accident near Purcell that also killed his mother, Cindy, and his father, Bill.
He lived in Healdton all of his life. He was in the seventh grade at Healdton Middle School where he was a straight-A student and participated in football, basketball, track, band and golf. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister, Kristen Andrews, of the home; his grandmothers, Betty Holder, Healdton, and Nancy Stanley, Vinita; two stepbrothers, Adam Sooter, Tahlequah, and Eric Sooter, Vinita; his aunts and uncles, Mary Sue and David McCaslin, Owasso, and Debbie and Wes Hacker, Healdton.
Bearers are Isaac Covey, Clay Blevins, D.J. Brown, Matt Dickinson, Michael McCaslin and Davey Parker. Honorary bearers are fellow seventh-grade students and past and present teachers and coaches.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Services for Reginald Clifford Hodrick, 27, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Alfred L. Williams Sr. and the Rev. Kenneth L. Wright Sr. officiating.
Born Sept. 11, 1969, at Caldwell, Texas, to Richard and Ruby Hodrick, he died April 30, 1997. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard Franklin and Senie Mae Walker and Charlie and Sedelia Hodrick.
Hodrick joined the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church in January 1996. He attended Ardmore High School.
Survivors include his wife, Larrissa, of the home; four sons, Dion, Oklahoma City, Andron, Stacy and Reginald, all Ardmore; his father, Tunnis, Texas, and his mother, Ardmore; two brothers, Russell, Ardmore, and Ricky, Houston; three sisters, April and Lavina, Ardmore, and Wilma, College Station, Texas.
Bearers are Wardell Williamson, Gregory Gaines, Steve Lewis, Ralph Williams, Thomas McGee and Robert Walker, Honorary bearers are Vernice L. Beaver, Leonard Pickens and Bennie L. Roberts Jr.
Services are under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
WAPANUCKA -- Graveside rites for Leola Marie Marks, 78, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born March 18, 1919, at Barstow, she died May 1, 1997, at her home.
She married Clyde Marks on Sept. 29, 1935. She was a retired rural mail carrier. Mrs. Marks had been a member of the Parent Teacher Association, Home Demonstration Club, Eastern Star and the American Legion. She had given volunteer services in many additional civic organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Clyde Jr., Stanford, N.C., and Bob, Bridgeville, Calif.; one daughter, Deloris Allen Wapanucka; and one sister, Frances Healey, Moore.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Tishomingo.
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Services for Ardmore native Harvell Henry Fomby, 77, were held Tuesday in Arlington, Texas.
Fomby was born March 12, 1920, in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita; a daughter, Sandy; a son, Robert; brothers, Harold and Ellsworth "Bill;" and sisters, Mossena Hodges and Bessie Whitson.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of the home; a son, Raymond, Lewisville, Texas; daughters, Dorothy Jones, Farmersville, Texas, and Maurene Jackson, Quinlan, Texas; stepdaughter, Brenda Gordon, Arlington; brothers, Claude, Lewisville, Texas, and Paul, Dinuba, Calif., Kenneth, Gainesville, Texas; sister, Grace Gentry, Ardmore; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services for Ryan Patrick "Pat" Slavin, 76, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Craddock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Nov. 14, 1920, at Allen Reed, Texas, to Clyde and Vera Reeves Slavin, he died May 2, 1997, at a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital.
A resident of Irving, Texas, for the past 25 years, Slavin was in the ranching and finance business. He married Johnnie Mahan on April 8, 1972, at Irving. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Michael D. Slavin, Houston; one stepdaughter, Mitzi S. Sheffield, Irving; one step-son, Dusty D. Drury, Fort Worth; and eight grandchildren.
Bearers are Dr. Griggs DeHay, David Maddox, Charles Harwell, Wayne Wallis, Richard Hunt and Harry Stickler.
CADDO -- Graveside rites for Marie Bassett, 91, will be at 2 p.m. today at Caddo Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Teel officiating.
Born Aug. 7, 1905, at Denton, Texas, to Barney and Lillian Smith Wood, she died May 1, 1997, at Pensacola, Fla., following an extended illness. She married H.F. Bassett on July 4, 1929, at Caddo. He preceded her in death in 1968. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Clifton and Clovis Wood, and a sister, Francis England.
A longtime Norman resident, Mrs. Bassett moved with her family to Caddo as a young girl. She graduated from high school at Caddo. She attended Southeastern State University prior to her marriage. She and her husband lived in Weleetka from 1930 until 1950 when they moved to Ardmore. Mrs. Bassett was an active member of the Methodist Church in Weleetka and Ardmore. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's group and other church organizations, as well as being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son, Harold, Pensacola; two daughters, Joyce Primm, Houston, and Barbara Beson, Lillian, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Mayes Funeral Directors, Norman.
LONE GROVE -- Graveside rites for Syble Vaughn, 85, Healdton, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Lone Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Philip Fox officiating.
Born July 29, 1911, at Saratoga, Ark., to Tom and Emma Booth Alford, she died May 2, 1997, at a Healdton health care facility after an extended illness.
Mrs. Vaughn moved to Healdton nine years ago after living 20 years in Fort Worth, Texas. She had been a kitchen manager for Furr's Cafeterias and was a Baptist.
Survivors include three daughters, Lee Phillips, Fort Worth, Dorothy Smith, Ardmore, and Janey Fenstermacher, Healdton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Services for Thomas L. "Tom" Roberts were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. John Hatfield officiating. Interment was at Crinerville Cemetery.
Born to Lemuel and Lula Williams Roberts on April 8, 1921, in Carter County, Roberts died May 3, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he had lived in Ardmore all his life and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Brock Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4574. He and Thelma Nail were married March 3, 1972, in Ardmore.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Kimmie Ray, Brock, Jan Price, Healdton, and Susan Anderson, Richardson, Texas; a son, Tommy, Denton, Texas; two stepsons, Mike and Mark Hicks; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Bearers were Shane Price, Scott Nail, Bobby Liles, Mark Hicks, Eddie Holland and Jack Drennan. Honorary bearers are A.D. Sharp, Roy Croughran, Loie and Elwood Hattensty.
