HEALDTON -- Graveside rites for Velma Ragsdale, 81, of Ratliff City, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ragsdale died May 11, 1997, in the Duncan hospital after a sudden illness. She was born to Jim and Alice Saylors Flynn, at Dundee, on Feb. 20, 1916.
She lived in various places in western Carter County and was a graduate of Fox High School. She and J.R. Ragsdale were married July 18, 1933, in Alma. He died Jan. 28, 1980. She was a member of Pruitt City Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jim, Mustang, and Rick, Duncan; a brother, Delton Flynn, Oklahoma City; and two grandsons.
RINGLING -- Services for Leotha Dock Davis, 75, Oklahoma City, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Community Fellowship Outreach Center with the Rev. Rick Goodman officiating. Interment will be at Orr Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Davis died May 9, 1997, in a Norman hospital. He was born March 2, 1922, at Ringling, to Willie L. "Bill" and Jewell Blackburn Davis.
Reared at Orr and Ringling, he served in the Army during World War II and married Katherine M. "Kay" Robson Aug. 20, 1950, at Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma City that year and he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base 36 years before he retired in 1983. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in January 1990; and a brother, Claudie.
Survivors include a daughter, Dee Anna Stone, of the home; his mother, Jewell Davis; and sister, Bonnie Newcomb, Noble; three brothers, Julian, Sherman, Texas, Bill, Oklahoma City, and Foye, Healdton; and a granddaughter.
Bearers will be J.Q. Porter, Roy and Sammy Lyle, Lonnie, Virgil and Willard Davis.
THACKERVILLE -- Services for Cleta A. Jones, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Victory Chapel in Thackerville with the Rev. Harold Morton and Bro. Roland officiating. Interment will be at Burneyville Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones died May 12, 1997, at the Ardmore hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1924, at Burneyville, to Leonard and Euna M. Alexander Carlile.
A lifelong resident of Love County, she married Bonnie Jones April 12, 1947, at Marietta, and was a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Hershel R., Gainesville, Texas, and Bud, Palmer, Texas; a daughter, Carolyn Swindle, Woodward; her mother, Euna Carlile, Foreman, Ark.; a brother, B.V. "Sonny" Carlile, Fairfield, Texas; a sister, Jimmie Pond, Needville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
OKMULGEE -- Services for former Ardmore resident Earle Edgar Garrison, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Okmulgee. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore. The family will receive friends at Ardmore's First Presbyterian Church after the service.
Garrison died May 11, 1997, at his home in Okmulgee. He was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Shawnee.
Reared in Ardmore, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was commander of Battery C of the 60th FA Battalion for the invasion of North America, ending his military service as a lieutenant colonel at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He worked 21 years for Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. in Norman, Tulsa, Muskogee, El Reno and Ardmore and was president and CEO of the Great Falls Gas Co., Great Falls, Mont., after moving there in 1961. He was active in numerous organizations, among them the Boy Scouts of America, Scottish Rite and First Presbyterian Church. He moved to Okmulgee in 1994. He and Oella Tappan were married in 1937. She died in 1996.
Survivors include four sons, David, Okmulgee, Stuart, Visalia, Calif., Charles, Jackson, Tenn., and Stephen, Helena, Mont.; an adopted son, Dat Nguyen, Chadds Ford, Pa.; a sister, Betty Garrison, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Foundation, 223 W. Broadway, Ardmore, OK 73401.
McClendon Funeral Home will direct services.
WAGONER -- Services for Lee Anne Blackmore, 62, were held at 10 a.m. today, May 13, 1997, at the Church of Christ in Wagoner. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Ravia under the direction of of Mallett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blackmore was born April 6, 1935, in Oklahoma City to Lawrence and Lorene Butler. She died May 9, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She had been a Wagoner (Toppers) resident since 1971. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Don Butler; and a son, Harry L. Brown III.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Brown, and his wife, Tammy, of Ardmore, and Jim John Brown, and his wife, Leah, of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Mary Anne Rowe, and her husband, Gary, of Wagoner; four grandsons, Chris Rowe, Anthony Brown, Cody Brown and Michael Brown; and two granddaughters, Cristy Rowe and Lauren Brown.
The family requested in lieu flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society, as she had a great love for animals.
Services for Noel French will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Ron Elmore officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
French died May 13, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1932, at Springer, to Charles T. and Bessie Ladd French.
He was a retired Navy chief petty officer who served during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church. He and Dorothy Jean Capps were married June 15, 1957, in Dallas.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Paul, Edmond, Terry, Oklahoma City, Kevin and Daniel, Bryan, Texas; a brother, Wilton, Deer Park, Texas; a sister, Mary Faulkner, Tipton, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Bearers will be his sons, Dale Rushing and Seth Stevens. Honorary bearer is Jerry Holley.
LONE GROVE -- Service for George M. "Joe" Wilson, 61, McAlester, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Lone Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Arty Hearod officiating. Interment was at Lone Grove Cemetery under the direction of Chaney's Funeral Home.
Wilson died May 10, 1997, in McAlester. He was born May 1, 1936, in Cabiness, to Robert R. and Ida M. Marris Wilson.
He worked as a logger and was an Air Force veteran. He and Dessie Jane Green were married Nov. 16, 1959, at Fort Smith, Ark. She died July 7, 1979.
Survivors include three sons, Mark, Smithville, Robert and Marlin, Parma, Ohio; three daughters, Debra Gagnon, Cove, Ark., Kimberly Flanagan, Oklahoma City, and Cindy Knittig, Mena, Ark.; two brothers, C.B., Krebs, and Bill, Dow; two sisters, Mona Hagler, Visalia, Calif., and Jean McAnally, Sacramento, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Bearers were Billy Wilson, Brandon Robertson, Robert Williams, Alex Konsire, Jim Walters and Jackie Bennett. Honorary bearers were Frank Palmer, Tommy Martin and Derick Allen.
DAVIS -- Services for R.L. Hefley were at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lonny Lee and Finis Steelman officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Hefley died May 12, 1997, in the Pauls Valley hospital. He was born May 16, 1927, at Loco, to Jim T. and Mamie Howard Hefley.
He had been a resident of this area since 1942 and was owner of Hefley Water Well Service in Lone Grove. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Lone Grove Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jane E. Mefford, of the home; a daughter, Debi Canon, Oklahoma City; son, Steve, Lone Grove; three stepdaughters, Jenny Bailey, Ada, Glenda Hembree, Thackerville, and Shawna Hitchcock, Beaumont, Texas; stepson, Tommy Mefford, Davis; five sisters, Dorothy Timmons, Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Norwood, Pauls Valley, Delma Wilson, Edmond, Carra Malicoat and Iva Pletcher, Davis; three brothers, Howard, James and Jerry, Davis; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jean; two brothers, Robert and Joe Bill; and a sister, Dimple Buffington.
Bearers were Tim Nichols, Jack Smith, Ricky Ruggs, Bobby, Darrell and Jimmy Hefley.
ZANEIS -- Services for Paul L. Lewis, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Zaneis Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Shirley officiating. Interment will be at Dixie Cemetery, north of Ringling.
Lewis died May 12, 1997, in the Healdton hospital after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Albion, Mich., to Fred L. and Beulah Elmore Lewis.
Reared in Rio Hondo, Texas, he married Helen Ernestine Parks there Dec. 22, 1938, and was a deacon and member of Rio Hondo Masonic Lodge. He served with the Seabees in the Pacific during World War II, and worked as a longshoreman, farmer and carpenter before working in the pipeline division of Tenneco Inc. He retired in 1977 and moved from Edinburgh, Texas, to Healdton in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Don, Healdton; two brothers, Fred and C.M., Rio Hondo; two sisters, Pauline Barg, Austin, Texas, and Irene Olive, Mission, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Jean, in 1939.
Bearers will be Dink Rose, Jimmy Roberts, Earnie and Jerry Miller, Duane and James Thompson.
Reser Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Anna A. Loman, 79, were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Cowley-Krien Chapel with the Rev. James Swain officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Loman died May 13, 1997, in Norman. She was born June 9, 1917, in Sulphur, to Thomas R. and Dosha B. Hearn Ross.
She had lived here all her life and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an LPN before she retired.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie L., of the home; a son, Gary Frost; a daughter, Pauline Grantham; and two brothers, George and Grady Ross, all of Sulphur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Frost; and her first husband, Terry A. "Bud" Frost.
Bearers were Charlie Dye, Hubert Jones, Ralph Dodson, Hubert Copps, Robert Green and Larry Hobbs. Honorary bearers were Bob Easery, Jim Burk, and the Arbuckle nursing staff.
Services for Malinda Anderson, 98, Lone Grove, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Creek Cemetery, Lone Grove.
Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 16, 1898. The lifetime Carter County resident died May 14, 1997, in the local hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Loss, Ardmore, and Ruben, Milo; three daughters, Katie Anderson, Ardmore, Betty and Manno Anderson, Lone Grove; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary will direct services.
Services for Nellie Lee Smith, 84, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Holman and Major Wesley Short officiating. Interment will follow at Provence Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died May 15, 1997, in the local hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 27, 1912, at Stonewall, to George and Lillie Holt James.
She married David Smith Oct. 31, 1938, and had been a resident of Ardmore the past 54 years. She was a member of the Ladies Home League. Her husband preceded her in death April 20, 1976.
Survivors include three sons, Harold, David and Jim, all of Ardmore; two daughters, Mary Riggs, Ardmore, and Glenda Harvin, Texarkana, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jack Hockersmith; three brothers; and four sisters.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
WILSON -- Graveside rites for Herbert J. Duncan, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hewitt Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating.
Duncan died May 15, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1928, at Courtney, to Elizah L. and Livia J. Sadler Duncan.
Reared at Reck, he graduated from Zaneis school in 1949 and served with the Army during the Korean War. He moved to California in 1952 and married Edith L. Sorrells Aug. 18, 1952, at Dos Palos, Calif. He was employed by Owens Corning Manufacturing 28 years before he retired in 1989. He was a former scoutmaster and neighborhood commissioner in the Boy Scouts of America, a Little League coach, a member of the Bottle Blowers Union and president of FSC Credit Union. He returned to Ardmore in 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife Aug. 24, 1995; a son, Douglas Gene, Feb. 23, 1995; and sister, Jane Doake.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Miller, of the home; a brother, Leo, Ardmore; five sisters, Christine Dalton, Santa Clara, Calif., Frances Murphy, San Jose, Calif., Madelyn Way, Wilson, Rachel Dunigan and Donna Palmer, Healdton; and a granddaughter.
Bearers will be Arbuckle Area Boy Scouts.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
MADILL -- Services for Guthrie Lee Jones, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Watts Memorial Chapel with Jack Bell and Ivy Henson officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died May 14, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1907, at Powell.
A resident of Marshall County most of her life, she married Floyd Jones Sept. 9, 1923, at Enville, and was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Nov. 25, 1974; two sons, Darwon and Floyd; an infant daughter, Gladys Faye; three brothers; a sister; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry, Madill, Buford, Alamogardo, N.M., and Adiene, Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Bonnie McWhorter, Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Brant Malkey, Mike McWhorter, Joshua, Mitchell, Ronnie and Danny Jones.
