Funeral services for Nelda Rae Long, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Harness and the Rev. Donny Custar. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born to Iley and Mary Etheridge Oxford on Aug. 26, 1929, Mrs. Long died May 15, 1997, in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. She and Ray Long were married June 30, 1962, at Ardmore. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Oxford.
She was a lifetime resident of Ardmore, attended school here, and the Parker Foundation of Dallas, Texas. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Diane Long, and her parents, Iley and Mary Oxford, all of Ardmore; her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Don and Sandra Oxford, Davis.
Bearers are Kenneth French, Bill Morgan, Ted Spurgeon, Loyd Bowers, Mark Cunningham and Boyd Howell.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
ADA -- Graveside rites for A.B. Northam, 72, Ringling, formerly of Oil Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Perry officiating.
Born March 24, 1925, at Beebe to George Dewey and Josephine Myrtle Raines Northam, he died May 15, 1997, at a Stratford nursing home.
Northam graduated from Vanoss High School. As a young man he was active in rodeos as a calf roper. Northam married Helen Kemp on May 15, 1946, at Little Rock, Ark. He worked in the oil fields all of his life and retired from Benedum-Trees Oil Company in 1969. He then became a production superintendent for L.E. Jones Production Company. He moved to the Wilson and Ringling area in the 1970s and retired in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Matthew Northam, Velma-Alma, and Dennis Northam, Stratford; one daughter, Elva Jellison, Newkirk; one brother, Ray O. Northam, Anniston, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Bearers are David Jellison, Marshal Jellison, Evan Northam, Raymond Northam, George Welch and Clyde Welch.
Services are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.
GAINESVILLE, Texas -- Graveside rites for Fannie Lee "Baby" Williams, 71, Marietta, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Hite officiating.
Born July 31, 1925, at Gainesville to William McKinnely and Hattie Hughes Norris, she died May 16, 1997, at the Marietta hospital. She was preceded in death by a brother, Orvil Norris; and a sister, Hazel Miller.
Mrs. Williams had lived in Marietta for the past three months, moving from Gainesville. She was a bookkeeper and a member of the County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Preston Williams, Buffalo Gap, Texas; one daughter, Robin Glover, Marietta; one brother, Bose Thomas Norris, Mesquite, Texas; one sister, Peggy Franco, Garland, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
THACKERVILLE -- Services for Florence Tabler, 85, Marietta, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thackerville Community Church of Christ with Murray McMurray officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Kennedy Funeral Home from 7 to 8 tonight.
Born Aug. 11, 1911, in Love County to Will and Iva Dora Smith Jordan, she died May 16, 1997, at the Marietta hospital. She married Luther Robert Tabler on Aug. 15, 1926, in Carter County. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1972. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Eugene Tabler in 1972; a granddaughter, LaJan Thompson in 1979; and two sisters.
Mrs. Tabler was a homemaker and attended the Thackerville Community Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Erdean Tabler and Jordan Tabler, both Thackerville; two daughters, Monzella Husband and Marketta Elliot, both Thackerville; two brothers, Porter Jordan, Marietta, and Pete Jordan, Thackerville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
MILL CREEK -- Services for Norma Lee Crenshaw, 75, Sulphur, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with Artie Quinton and the Rev. Jerry George officiating. Interment will follow at Troy Cemetery.
Born July 15, 1921, at Reagan to John and Maud Smith Brock, she died May 16, 1997, at Oklahoma City. She married T.C. Crenshaw on Sept. 21, 1941, at Denison, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1984.
Mrs. Crenshaw grew up in the Troy area. She attended school at Troy and had lived in Sulphur since 1975. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Yvonne Frantz, Sulphur; two sons, Bobby Crenshaw, Mill Creek, and Jim Crenshaw, Troy; one sister, Willie Lee Ross, Reagan; one stepsister, Eunice Smith Tishomingo; one stebrother, R.L. Grant, Ravia; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Services for Ethel R. Beane Price, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Sam Tucker officiating. Interment will be at Woodbury Forest Cemetery, Madill.
Mrs. Price died May 18, 1997, at her home in Lone Grove. She was born Oct. 27, 1907, at Madill, to Charles and Ida M. Jackson Bonner.
A lifetime resident of the Ardmore area, she graduated from Murray State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University and was a retired school teacher. She was a member of Eastern Star and held a number of local and state offices, among them state worthy matron. She was also a member of Lone Grove Methodist Church. She and Robert Thomas Price were married Dec. 16, 1948, at Sherman, Texas. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Arlie Beane, Houston; an adopted son, Ronnie Bonner, Broken Arrow; three stepsons, Bill Price, Marietta, Jerry and Finis Price, Lone Grove; a sister, Martha Bonner, Ardmore; and five grandchildren.
Bearers will be Lynn Payne Randy Woodley, Joey Bourns, Alan Gustine, Rick and Brad Beane. Honorary bearers are Theron Junior Price, Tommy Crowell, Kevin Calley, Bobby Herndon and Larry D. Buck.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Theresa Edna Lawley, age 84, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at the Church of the Nazarene in Tishomingo.
Mrs. Lawley was born May 15, 1913, at Fillmore, Okla., to Ernest and Ida Lee Goodman Callen. She passed away May 17, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital.
She taught school in Johnston County 40 years, 20 of those years in the Tishomingo public schools, and was a member of the Johnston County Retired Teachers Association. She and Claude Green Lawley were married Oct. 16, 1932, at Madill. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Donna Lawley, of Tishomingo, Gary and Pat Lawley, of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Nelson, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Orelia and Marvin Reed, Filmore; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alvie, Lonnie and Clay Callen; and a sister, Ona Johnson.
Bearers will be Don Reed, Larry Callen, Dale Callen, Clay Callen, Marlon Johnson and Terry Ragan.
Services will be directed by Smith Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Graveside rites for Alfred M. "Dock" Tipton, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Cemetery with Mary Ross officiating.
Tipton died May 17, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born July 12, 1925, at Oil Springs, to Andrew J. and Cora Robinson Tipton.
An Army veteran of World War II, he lived in Fort Worth, Texas, 21 years working as an auto mechanic for Goodyear Tire Co. before moving to Love County in 1979. He and Betty Jones were married Sept. 14, 1943, in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Alfred; and two daughters, Jan Powers and Cheri Wilson, all of Marietta; four brothers, Bill, Weatherford, Murray, Odell and Leo, Wichita Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Leota Cranmore, Francis Grice and Bertie Mitchell; and a brother, Clarence.
Bearers will be David Patty, Ray Hilton, Richard Cross, James Dugger, Roy and Fred Grice.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Luta Edna Bowerman, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clagg Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Stuart officiating. Interment will be at Tribbey Cemetery, Tribbey.
Mrs. Bowerman died May 18, 1997, in Chickasha. She was born May 18, 1909, at Tribbey, to William L. and Nora J. Wright Roberts.
She married Isaac D. Bowerman March 27, 1927, at Bowlegs, and was a member of Missionary Baptist Church. She lived most of her life in the Tribbey area before moving to Sulphur in 1972 and had lived at Chickasha the past eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 17, 1986; a daughter, Dorothy Niles; and two sons, Alfred J. and Hubert L.
Survivors include eight daughters, Helen Crowley, Edmond, Paula Murray, Little Axe, Sue Hames, Norman, Janice Guinn, Alva, Ladonna Bowerman, Oklahoma City, Sharon Richie, Mildred Buchanan and Waneta Laughlin, Chickasha; two sons, Leonard, Pauls Valley, and Guy, Chickasha; three sisters, Ruth Burlson, Shawnee, Esther Derryberry, Tecumseh, and Naomi Thompson, Tribbey; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Riley Roberts, Mark Crowley, David Stuart, Guy and David Bowerman.
Funeral service for Jeremy Scott Morriss, 19, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Harvey-Douglas Lone Grove Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Duck officiating and Gary Allen assisting. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Born on June 4, 1977, in Ardmore, Okla., to Clarence and Sheryl Hammons Morris, he passed away on May 16, 1997, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mr. Morriss had been a resident of Ardmore all his life, except for the past two years when he lived in White Settlement, Texas. Jeremy graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1995. He was employed by The Cracker Barrel Restaurant. He was a former member of Lone Grove Masonic Lodge No. 25 And Templars Chapter Order of Demolay. He was the founder of the Southern Oklahoma Gaming Association.
Survivors include his father, Clarence Morriss of Oklahoma City; his mother, Sheryl Hammons of Fort Worth; his grandmothers, Mintha Morelock of Ardmore, and Ellen Morris of Ringling; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pall bearers will be Steven Daniels, Jacob Vines, Rich Andes, Rances Otero, Ali Otero and Sean Swarowsky. Honorary bearers are Michael Duggan, Rob Andes and Shawn Allen.
BURNEYVILLE -- Services for Ricky Don Hartman, 44, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Turner High School Auditorium, Burneyville. The Revs. Ronnie Carroll and Jim May will officiate, and interment will follow at Leon Cemetery.
Hartman died May 19, 1997, at his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1953, in Ardmore.
A 1972 graduate of Turner High School, he had lived in Love County all his life and had been employed in the tire building department at Uniroyal Tire Co. for 26 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, and daughter, Cassidy, of the home; two sons, Dustin, Leon, and Rodney, Marietta; his mother, Donna Fisher, Ardmore; his father and stepmother, Herb and Coleta Hartman, Leon; a sister, LaDonna Miller; and grandmother, Opal McBride, Ardmore.
Bearers will be Darrell Lee, Tom Brown, Johnny Dixon, B.G. Caldwell, Pat Furrh and Van Zimmerman.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at Kennedy Funeral Home in Marietta.
REXROAT -- Funeral service for Jennifer Salsbury Griffith, 23, Wilson, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Rexroat Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Phipps and Mike Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson.
Mrs. Griffith died May 18, 1997, in Healdton. She was born March 9, 1974, at Millington, Tenn., to Boyd Wayne and Betty Ann Pruett Salsbury.
Reared at Wilson, where she graduated from Wilson High School in 1992, she attended Wesleyan College in Bartlesville and was a volunteer worker at the Wilson Public Library ad Wilson Public Schools. She and Robert Bradley Griffith III were married Aug. 20, 1994, and have made their home in Wilson. She was a member of Rexroat Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; her parents, Boyd and Betty Salsbury; a sister, Summer Salsbury; a brother, Boyd Lynn Salsbury; and grandmother Essie Pruett, all of Wilson; and her first nephew scheduled to be born in June.
Serving as bearers will be Benny Cartwright, James Gardner, Verle Tolbert, Robert Holloway, David Norton, Dustin Cormany, Chris Norton and Turner Poindexter. Honorary bearers are members of the graduating class of 1992.
Memorial funds have been established at the American National banks in Wilson, Lone Grove and Ardmore.
Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson, will direct services.
KINGFISHER -- Services for Emma L. Meade, Healdton, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders Funeral Chapel in Kingfisher with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Kingfisher Cemetery.
Mrs. Meade died May 18, 1997, in the Healdton hospital. She was born Nov. 3, 1917, at Loyal, to Edward and Dora Homier.
Reared in Kingfisher, she married Reynolds Meade Sept. 11, 1973, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was a retired fry cook. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Karen McMillen, Ratliff City; two sons, Dale Carrier, Hennessey, and Daryl Carrier, Mediapolis, Iowa; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Milburn Funeral Home, Ratliff City, was in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Meade will be in state at Sanders Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time for service.
