DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Cleo Ilene Bright, 87, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Junior Thomas and the Rev. Frank Duncan officiating.
Born April 28, 1910, at Conway County, Ark., to Claude and Emma Carlton Hawkins, she died May 23, 1997, at her residence. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Gene Bright; two sisters and four brothers.
She married Robert Olan Bright on Aug. 21. 1926, at Anadarko. She moved to Davis in 1977. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Juanita Marcom and Maeruth Lee, both Davis, and Carolyn Ronquist, Burney, Calif.; one son, Gearld Bright, Alpine, Calif.; one sister, Vera Spalla, Spring Hills, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
DAVIS -- Services for Vicki Case, 41, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Troy Cemetery.
Born Jan. 1, 1956, at Fort Worth, Texas, she died May 24, 1997 at her home in Sulphur.
Mrs. Case moved to Sulphur two years ago from Lucas, Texas. She was a member of Word Center, Frisco, Texas. Mrs. Case was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy, Lucas, Texas; parents, Leonard and Betty Pinkston Terrell, Sulphur; two daughters, Raechelle Nazary, Dallas, and Carrie House, Cooper, Texas; three sons, Reuben Bennett, Brandon Ivie and Cris Kelton, all of Fort Worth; two brothers, David Terrell, Sulphur, and Steven Terrell, San Diego; and five grandchildren.
SAN DIEGO -- Private services for Stephanie A. Coulter, 49, were held May 1, 1997, at San Diego.
Born June 27, 1947, at Santa Monica, Calif., to Paul and Ruby Barley, she died April 28, 1997, in San Diego.
Mrs. Coulter had lived in Ardmore for 31 years. A year ago she moved back to her family home in San Diego. She had been employed in Ardmore as a home health care assistant for a number of years.
Survivors include one son, Paul Coulter, Austin, Texas; her parents, San Diego; and a sister, Paula Flores, San Diego.
Graveside rites for Jarrell H. Flemings, 89, were May 20, 1997, at Clearview Cemetery with the Rev. Turner and the Rev. Brewer officiating. Masonic rites were also conducted.
He was born July 7, 1907. His wife, Mamie, and his stepson, Hiawatha, preceded him in death in 1985.
Flemings was a well-known carpenter. He was a 33rd degree Mason. He had been a lifelong Corinth Baptist Church member and had been head usher for a number of years.
Survivors include one brother, Noma J. Flemings, Los Angeles; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services were conducted by Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home.
HENNEPIN -- Services for Forthie Agnes Hobbs, 89, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hennepin Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Price and Johnny McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Katy Cemetery.
Born March 17, 1908, at Grady to John P. and Viola McKee Bowling, she died May 23, 1997, at the Ardmore hospital. She married John George Hobbs on Nov. 2, 1925, at Fort Arbuckle. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kate Eaves; a brother; one sister; three grandsons and a great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Hobbs was a member of the Hennepin Baptist Church. She worked for the government in Phoenix for two years. With the exception of a few years she lived at the home place in Woodland all of her life.
Survivors include two sons, John Ike Hobbs, Bokchito, and H.M. Hobbs, Davis; four sisters, Jo Herriage and Clara Tucker, both Tracy, Calif.; Clemie McQuire, Duncan, and Mary Ayers, Morrsville, Mo.; one brother, Pat Roy Bowling, Cabool, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Fox Funeral Home from 7 to 8 tonight.
DOUGHERTY -- Graveside rites for Melva Carmine Lucas, 76, will be 2 p.m. today at Dougherty Cemetery with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating.
Born Jan. 9, 1921, at Dougherty to William Ryley and Annie Jefferies Drew, she died May 23, 1997, at Pauls Valley. She married Emmit Lee Lucas on Oct. 2, 1937, at Sulphur. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1985.
Mrs. Lucas had lived in Dougherty all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Billy and Joan McDonald, both Dougherty; three sons, Jim, Monie and Victor Lucas, all Dougherty; one brother, Daniel Drew, Phoenix; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Dale Smith, Terry Stephens, Paul Smith, Thomas Stephens, Tony Stephens and Danny Stephens.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Services for Novella Buckholtz Doggett will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wade Paschal officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born at Mill Creek to Les and Lula Zellner McKinney, she died May 30, 1997, at a local hospital following an extended illness. She married Charles Carter Buckholtz on July 31, 1936, at Ardmore. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1985. She married O.C. Doggett in September 1986 at Saginaw, Texas.
Mrs. Doggett was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Iris and Altrusa garden clubs.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, Charles L. Buckholtz, Childress, Texas; one sister, Leota Cornish, Healdton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Leon Zellner, Dee DeBord, Randy and Thomas McKinney, Roger Hallmark and Gene Morrison.
DAVIS -- Services for Ruth Louise Kennedy, 64, San Diego, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating and Dr. Eggenberg assisting. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
Born Nov. 18, 1932, at Davis to Harvey L. and Aenease Durwood Kennedy, she died May 27, 1997, at a San Diego hospital. She was married to Gene L. Rupe. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Kennedy; and her father.
Ms. Kennedy graduated from Davis High School. She attended Oklahoma A&M College, and received a master's degree in education. She had lived in Davis until 1963 when she moved to San Diego, where she lived and taught for 34 years. She was a member of the California Teachers Association and the Eastern Star. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Larry Rupe, San Diego; one daughter, Jana Lynn Rupe, Walters; one brother, Dr. Max Kennedy, Salinas, Calif.; one sister, Jeanne Ann Kennedy, Davis; one grandchild; one stepgrandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Bearers are Jim Conway, Kelly Valdez, Lonnie Kennedy, Keith Rupe, Harvey Joe Kennedy and Kenneth Rupe. Honorary bearers are Dillard James, Buddy Jones and Mike Beasley.
Services are under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
CONDON GROVE-- Graveside rites for Altha Odessa Petty, 94, will be 2 p.m. today at Condon Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Page officiating.
Born Oct. 19, 1909, at Thackerville, she died May 28, 1997, at Tishomingo. She was married to Jim Petty. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Petty was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Norman Randolph, Las Vegas, Nev., and James Frank Petty, Sulphur; two sisters, Irene Steeves, Edmond, and Ethel Gill, Milburn.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Tishomingo.
NORMAN -- Services for Wesley Dunn Bates, 59, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church with Canon Charles Woltz officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Sulphur.
Born Jan. 14, 1938, at Fort Worth, Texas, to Bryan Monroe and Orien Lucretia Dunn Bates, he died May 28, 1997, at Norman.
Bates grew up in Sulphur, graduating from Sulphur High School in 1955. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University, Southwestern Seminary and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1960 with a degree in public relations-journalism.
As a writer, Bates had worked for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and Texas. He was a member of the faculty and staff of Baylor University from 1963 to 1969. He served as assistant director of public relations, editor of the Baylor Line and associate English professor. In 1969 Bates opened and became CEO of Intergraphics Press Inc. in Norman, which included Bates and Associates Advertising Agency, The Printing Center and Norman Sign Company. In recent years he worked as a public relations consultant and photographer.
He married Janice Ferrill in 1960.
Survivors include two daughters, Lesley Susan Bates and Jenna Gayle Bates, both Norman.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home, Sulphur.
MADILL -- Services for Alma Lee Garrison, 89, were 10 a.m. Saturday at Watts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with J.W. Thomison officiating. Interment followed at Woodberry-Forest Cemetery.
Born June 4, 1907, at Simpson, Indian Territory, she died May 29, 1997, at an Ardmore convalescent facility. She married William Lawrence Garrison at Durant. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1954. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Virgil; two sisters, Ora and Opal; one stepsister, Patsy Ruth Lynn; and a granddaughter, Adrian M. Garrison.
Mrs. Garrison was reared in the Tyler community. She graduated from Madill High School with the Class of 1926 and later received her bachelor of science degree from Southeastern State College in Durant. She taught at Tyler for 10 years and later worked as assistant county treasurer of Marshall County. Mrs. Garrison was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Warren Garrison, Dickson; one step-sister, Guy Eva Hallmark, Cloudcroft, N.M.; and three grandsons.
Bearers were Roy Garrison, Larry Garrison, Jackie Pilgrim, Mitchell Pilgrim, Kent Hallmark and Warren Garrison.
WILSON -- Services for Bessie Fay Brinlee, 81, will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Darel Bunch officiating. Interment will be in Temple Cemetery, Temple.
Mrs. Brinlee died May 30, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1916, in Sagerton, Texas, to William A. and Martha "Mattie" Plowman Gober. She was reared in the Corum area, and married Lester Randell Brinlee Sept. 9, 1940, at Walters. They moved from Fort Worth, Texas, to Temple in 1946, and came to Wilson in 1977. Her husband preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a grandson. Mrs. Brinlee was a member of First Baptist Church and the Southern Oklahoma Nutrition Center.
Survivors include four daughters, Edna Rae Spencer, Ormond Beach, Fla., Linda Montgomery, Oklahoma City; Joyce Brinlee, Del City; Patsy Anderson, Little Rock, Ark.; four sons, Wayne, San Diego, Randall, Wilson, Gene, Moore, and Jerry, Oklahoma City; a sister, Nettie Atkinson, Duncan; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons Steven and Scott Haggy, David, Carl and John Brinlee, and Paul and Chuck Nelson.
Alexander Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Bill H. Riley, 71, will be 4 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken McCarthick officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born March 30, 1926, at Gainesville, Texas, to Jack and Mary Eugene Newsome Riley, he died May 30, 1997, at his residence.
Riley had been a resident of the Ardmore area all of his life. He married Mary Francis Bethea on April 8, 1949, at Gainesville. He had worked for the Lang's Texaco Gas Station.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Riley Miller and Annette Wallis, both Lone Grove; one sister, Lois Davis, Ardmore; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Jim Butcher, Dub Emde, Eddie Hodge, Tom Lang, Justin Miller, Bill Newman, Dewayne Riley and Joshua Walls. Honorary bearers are Paul, Wes, and J.T. Riley.
