MADILL -- Services for Pearlie Peoples, 77, Mannsville, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Watts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with James Tynes and Cora Waggoner officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
Born Nov. 30, 1919, at Clarksville, Ark., she died June 19, 1997, at an Oklahoma City hospital following a short illness She was preceded in death by her children, Ramona and Donald Ray; two brothers, Earlie Doak and A.J. "Buster" May; and her sisters Lucy Ray and Mary Brown.
She moved with her parents to Wetumpka when she was 6 years old. She married Raymond Peoples on May 15, 1937, at Holdenville. They moved to the Marshall County area in 1939 and continued to reside in the area and Mannsville since that time. Mrs. Peoples was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Dall Peoples, McMillan, and Ronnie Peoples, Mannsville; two daughters, Dessie Willingham and Wanda Mays, both Mannsville; one sister, Gladys Hakola, Chehalis, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be nephews.
SULPHUR -- Graveside services for Benjamin Wayne Richard, 83, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery with Elder Bill Huckaby officiating.
Born March 3, 1914, near Atoka to Frank and Ethel Green Richard, he died June 19, 1997, at Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, in 1994.
Richard was a retired rancher. He had lived his early life ranching in Oklahoma and Colorado. After ill health forced his retirement in 1974, Richard returned to Oklahoma.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy J. Hampton, Ardmore, and Norma Grantham, Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Lola Phillips, Cupertino, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Funeral services for David Charles Vaughn, 34, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Wayne Fite. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Son of the late Marvin and Elizabeth Blanton Vaughn, David was born Sept. 2, 1962, in Ardmore. He died Friday, June 20, 1997, from injuries received in an auto accident in Marshall County.
A 1980 graduate of Ardmore High School, he had lived the past three years in Mannsville and was a carpenter in home construction.
Survivors include a daughter, Chelsea Elizabeth Vaughn, Ardmore; five brothers, Jesse, of Spencer, and Richard, John, Joe and Wayne, Ardmore; five sisters, Anita Vanbebber, Norman, Phyllis Julian, Betty Muncrief, Nancy Summers and Peggy Myers, Ardmore; and special friends, Russell and Mary Hayes and Tammy Luna.
Serving as bearers will be Kenny Hayes, Kerry Hayes, Mike Waller, Dewayne St. Clair, Kerry Ross and Eddie McComber. Honorary bearers are Greg Hayes and Darrell Vaughn.
Services will be directed by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
LONE GROVE -- Services for Robert Dale "Tiny" Gillispie, 44, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will be at Newport Cemetery under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Son of the late Willie F. and Ezella Kelly Gillispie, he was born June 8, 1953, at Talihina, and died June 21, 1997, at his residence following a brief illness.
He had lived in the Lone Grove area all his life and was a 1972 graduate of Lone Grove High School.
He is survived by his wife, Cherry, and son, Robert Chad, both of the home; a daughter, Sherrit Deista, Ardmore; his mother, Ezella, Lone Grove; three sisters, Linda Gravitt, Ardmore, Lorene Watts, Wichita Fall, Texas, and Wanda Domingos, Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Eddie L., Ardmore, and Bobby Joe, Lone Grove; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Blanton, Ardmore; and a grandson.
Bearers will be Wayne Miller, Joe Genn, Chet Howell, Gerald Blanton Fred and Ted Nichols. Honorary bearers will be his friends.
RAVIA -- Services for Charles Lee Flemings were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Indian Baptist Church with the Revs. Pete Wall and Davis Lewis officiating. Interment was at Ravia Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Flemings died June 20, 1997, at his home. He was born May 23, 1951, at Sacaton, Ariz.
He had lived in Ravia most of his life and was a member of the Indian Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, William and Billy Jo, both of Allen, Texas; and three sisters, Wanda Rhodes, Ravia, Nadine Underwood, Noble, and Barbara Sherwood, Tishomingo.
Bearers were Claude Davis, Jerry Wallace, Marty Rhodes, Kenneth, Jimmy and David Lewis.
HEALDTON -- Funeral service for longtime Ratliff City area resident Aud Lee Blackburn, age 92, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in the East Texas Church of Christ with Carl Johnson officiating. Committal service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Norman.
Mr. Blackburn died Monday morning, June 23, 1997, in the Healdton health care facility.
The son of Edgar and Martha Blackburn, he was born April 7, 1905, in Hagerville, Ark. Mr. Blackburn had lived in the Ratliff City area over 60 years.
He married Hattie Lemons June 1, 1930, in Drumright, Okla. She preceded him in death Dec. 12, 1984. He married Vera Ogletree Blevins Feb. 14, 1986, in Pauls Valley, Okla.
Mr. Blackburn retired in 1966 from Mobil Oil Co. after 40 years of service. He was a member of East Texas Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, of the home; a son-in-law, Cullas Webb, Norman; two granddaughters, Tanya Wallace, Houston, and Shannon Darby, Dallas; one grandson, Rex Webb, Norman; one great-granddaughter, Sha Wade, Dallas; one stepson and his wife, Bill and Ann Blevins, Plano, Texas; one stepdaughter and her husband, Betty and James Allen, Frankston, Texas; six stepgrandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Buford; and sister, Lois.
Bearers will be Steve Melton, Roger Dale Wilson, Dale Powell, John Clinesmith, Derwin Reynolds and Bill Renfro. Honorary bearers will be Jim Cannon, Raymond Bray, Allen Melton, Dewey Briscoe and Wayne Randolph.
Reser Funeral Home will direct services.
MANNSVILLE -- Services for Ben Lee Hartgraves, 58, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken McCarthick officiating. Interment will be at Lone Cedar Cemetery.
Hartgraves died June 23, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. He was born in 1938 in Hamilton Texas, to Fred and Zena Hartgraves.
He was formerly employed in construction by the State of Oklahoma and was a member of First Baptist Church. He and the former Coleen Barnes were married Jan. 3, 1985.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Fred A., Garland, Texas; two daughters, Brenda Hartgraves, Noble, and Lana Corbin, Connerville; his mother, Zena Hartgraves, Hamilton, Texas; two stepsons, Velin Barnes, Mannsville, and Darrell Barnes, Lone Grove; a sister, Linda Lawson, Jonesboro, Texas; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Jerry.
Bearers will be Richard Parkhill, Bill Dorer, June St. Clair, Rick Johnson, Clarence Warren and Fred Hartgraves. Friends are honorary bearers.
Corbin Funeral Home will direct services.
Memorial service for Ronald Anthony Watson, 40, was at 10 a.m. today at Pickens Baptist Church.
Watson died June 17, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital after a sudden illness. He was born July 9, 1956, at Ardmore.
Reared at McMillan, he graduated from Madill High School and had been living in Ardmore in recent years where he worked as a welder.
He is survived by three sons, Christopher Osage, Dallas, Rodney A. and and Nicholas E. Watson, Idabel; his mother, Wilma P. Watson; and a brother, Michael, Ardmore; and two sisters, Carolyn Rodriguez, Dallas, and Sharon Watson-Halferty, Newton, Iowa.
Watts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MOORE -- Services for former Ardmore resident James H. "Bogie" Davis Sr., 78, Moore, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Ireland Funeral Home. Graveside rites with military honors will follow at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.
Davis passed away June 24, 1997, at Southwest Medial Center. He was born to Ovie and J.H. Davis May 13, 1919.
James married Marie Darter on July 9, 1942. He retired in 1984 after working 39 years in the oil field industry. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Ardmore.
A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served from 1942 to 1945. His military decorations include the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four service stars, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tommy Epperson; and son, James Jr., all of Moore; a sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Richard Morris, Ardmore; a brother, Jabo Davis, Texas; four grandchildren, Lane Epperson, Texas, Michelle Fowler, David and Jennifer Davis, Moore; three great-grandchildren, LaChelle Fowler, Moore, Amber and Melissa Epperson, Blanchard; a sister-in-law, Lovella Hayes, Ardmore; and niece, Roberta Hagler, Mississippi.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or church.
SULPHUR -- Services for Odie Lee Walker, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Clagg Funeral Home with Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker died June 25, 1997, in Sulphur. She was born March 21, 1908, in Murray County.
She married W.D. Walker Nov. 1, 1926, in Sulphur. He died June 21, 1975. She was a Baptist and had been a resident of the Sulphur-Wynnewood area most of her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Verla J. Higgins, Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Bill and Melvin, Sulphur; 11 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Treesia Ratchford; a brother, Orbe Coats; and sister, Tess Ray.
SULPHUR -- Services for Jesse James Clary, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Clary died June 25, 1997, in Sulphur where he was born July 24, 1919, to James and Mary F. Miller Clary.
A lifelong resident of this area, he served in the Army during World War II and retired as superintendent of the Water Department after 20 years of service. He was also pastor of Full Gospel Holiness Church. He and Ruby Bullard were married May 25, 1940, at Sulphur.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Crase; and four sons, Glen, Kenneth, Danny and Robert, all of Sulphur; a sister, Georgia, Lexington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie, in 1964; three brothers; and three sisters.
SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Jewell Dean Phillips, 77, will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Rushing officiating.
Mrs. Phillips died June 19, 1997, in Sulphur where she was born Feb. 4, 1920, to Frank and Ela Osborn Hember.
She had lived in this area most of her life and was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. She was the widow of Othata Phillips.
Survivors include a daughter, Carrie Dumas, Los Angeles; two sisters, Irene Hembree, Oklahoma City, and Catherine Bookman, Muskogee; and two grandchildren.
Clagg Funeral Home will direct services.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Bobby Lynn Parks, 36, were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Robert Yandell and Janice Hall officiating. Interment was at Condon Grove Cemetery.
Parks died June 24, 1997, in Tishomingo where he was born July 15, 1960.
A lifelong resident of Johnston County, he graduated from high school here in 1978 and attended Murray State College. He received his degree in agriculture from Oklahoma State University in 1988 and had been employed by Uniroyal seven years. He and Tracy Hearrell were married March 19, 1994, in Milburn. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Byron, Farmington, N.M., and Taylor, Tishomingo; a daughter, Tifany Parks, Farmington, N.M.; his parents, Buddy and Ola Mae Parks, Milburn; and two brothers, Stan, Tishomingo, and Gerald, Calera.
Bearers were Alan Murray, Pat Underwood, Sam Holt, Jeff Coney, Clay Combes, Rick Houser, Allen and Jack Parks. Honorary were Shang McNeil, Murray Corbin III and Terry Mayo.
Corbin Funeral Home directed services.
