MARIETTA -- Services for Leonard "Gordon" Godfrey will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 1997, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery, Leon.
Mr. Godfrey was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Sperry, Okla., to Pete and Dollie Hardie Godfrey. He passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 1997, at Baptist Medical Center of Oklahoma City at the age of 70 years, nine months and 16 days.
Mr. Godfrey had lived in Love County since 1962. He married Billye J. Brown in 1952 at DeQueen, Ark. He had various jobs throughout his life, working at the Naval Depot in Savanna, Okla., for 15 years, and he taught at Leon as an elementary teacher 12 years, also serving as principal. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Godfrey had an antique miniature car museum along with many other items at his residence that was open to the public. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Billye, of the home; a son, Danny Ray Godfrey, Lone Grove; two daughters, Judy Kaye Kinder, Lawton, and Gay Lynn Stelting, Ardmore; a brother, Tom Godfrey, Lone Grove; a sister, Bertha Arnold, Hanford, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dallas Taliaferro Jr., Jerry Kerr, Bill Shankles, Pat Parker, Mike Buxton and Mark Spier. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Varner, Lyndon Parker, Fletcher Coble, Mike Parker, Bill Looney and the Adult Men II Sunday School Class.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for Joseph Louis Jette Jr., 79, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Jette died July 9, 1997, in Sulphur. He was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Pittsfield, Mass., to Joseph and Eveyon Beaudin Jette.
Reared in Massachusetts, he moved to California in 1962 and worked as an electrician for the Garden Grove Schools. He served in the Canadian Army, was a veteran of World War II and Korean War, serving with the Navy on the USS Shields. He was a member of American Legion Post 148 and VFW. He and Betty King were married May 29, 1969, at Garden Grove.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; five daughters, Joann Jones, Lake Isabella, Calif., Lorraine Pickens, Oak Grove, Donna Jette, Thackerville, Tammy Carter and Dianna Carrillo, Sulphur; three sons, Robert, Mountain Park, John and Joseph III, Sulphur, two brothers, Larry and Albert Beaudin, Hesperia Calif.; two sisters, Teresa Tatro, Garden Grove, and Rita Martel, Hesperia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Armon; and sister, Evelyn Martel.
DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Homer Lee Moyers will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Green Hill Cemetery with Dr. Virgil R. Trout officiating.
Moyers died July 8, 1997, at his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Ardmore, to Homer and Jesse Miller Moyers.
He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and served in the Army. He was a wrestling coach for 35 years in Texas and Oklahoma, was a retired exterminator, and had been a security officer for the Arbuckle Ballroom the last several years. He had lived in Davis 10 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jones, Ardmore; two sons, Don, Lone Grove, and Robert, Healdton; a sister, Laverda McKee, Ardmore; and seven grandchildren.
Bearers will be David Hardee, Richie McKee, Kevin Martin, Glenn Willis, Toby Greathouse, Jim Ed Pogue, Gary Follis and Colby Gorbet.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 6 pm. Saturday at the home of Don Moyers. Call 657-2261 for directions.

TISHOMINGO -- Services for Charlie D. Scott will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Corbin Chapel with James Shackelford officiating. Interment will be at Mill Creek Cemetery.
Scott died July 10, 1997, in Stratford. He was born June 27, 1911, at Mill Creek to Ray and Floe Roberson Scott.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. As a resident of Amarillo, Texas, he was a postman 27 years and worked as a security guard for Bell Helicopter. He and Wanda Moore were married Feb. 25, 1983, in Canyon, Texas. He was a ham radio operator, a member the Church of Christ and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, of the home in Stratford; two sons, J.Y. Tomlinson, Stratford, and Eddie G. Tomlinson, Washington; a stepdaughter, Tommie L. Conner, Kent, Wash.; half sister, Mavis Smith, Denton, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta; an infant daughter, Mary Floe; and two brothers, J.Y. and William.
Bearers will be Philip Blackwell, Bill Wooten and Randy Elmore.
WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Graveside rites for Bettye Jo Carruthers, 74, will be at 3 p.m. today at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Mrs. Carruthers died July 10, 1997, in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was born July 26, 1922, at Coalgate.
She was the widow of William Harold Carruthers, and was a former bookkeeper.
Survivors include two sons, William, Wichita Falls, and Phillip, Big Spring, Texas; a sister, Lea Campbell, Ardmore; and six grandchildren.
Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Brenda Sue Holybee will be 2 p.m. Monday at Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. L.A. Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
Born June 13, 1962, in Ardmore, to Oscar Cleo and Juanita Haskins Holybee, she died July 11, 1997, at a local hospital following brief illness.
She was a lifelong Ardmore resident and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sons, David Allen and Justin Kyle Holybee, both of the home; her parents; four sisters, Mary Thurman, Judy Brown, Cindy Miller and Christina Holybee, all Ardmore; six brothers, Ronnie, Gerald, Michael, Virgil, Alvin, and Buster Holybee, all Ardmore; grandmother, Flora Haskins.
Bearers are Charles Holybee, Tommy Skinner, Jerry Vaughn, Jeff Rogers, Serevo Cruz and Mario Cruz.
DUNCAN -- Services for Gerald Lynn Lang, 54, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jody Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Born Oct. 1, 1942, at Waurika, he died July 11, 1997. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvon S. Lang.
Lang was a 1961 graduate of Duncan High School. He attended Oklahoma University and then entered the U.S. Army in January 1964, serving with C Battery, 6th Missile Battalion, 52nd Artillery near Worzburg, Germany. He married Sonya Kay Lynch on July 7, 1971, at Wichita Falls, Texas. He was employed with Halliburton Company in field service until 1983 and then worked for Edward's Home Furnishings and held a realtor's broker license. He was very active with the Sunday Cycle Riders Club. Lang was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Yukon.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Sheryl Lyn Lang, Ardmore; one stepdaughter, Debra Kay Stephens, Lawton; one stepson, Terry David Stephens, Lawton; one brother, Herb Lang, Duncan; and one sister, Sue Shelton, Duncan.
Bearers are David Freeman, Wayne McCubbin, Wayne Tinney, Steve Pollock, Jimmy Tinney, Randy Mayes, Jim Allen and Robbie Freeman. Honorary bearers are members of the Sunday Cycle Riders.

STRATFORD -- Services for Raymond Alex Smith, 69, will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Woodward and the Rev. Marvin Knox officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with full military services.
Born Jan. 1, 1929, at Tuttle, to Carl and Lena Smith, he died July 12, 1997, at Ada.
He married Bessie James on Jan. 6, 1972, at Sulphur. Smith retired as a Chief BTC from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He had lived in Stratford for the past seven years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one stepdaughter, Loa N. Deaton, El Dorado, Ark.; one brother, Wayne Smith, Elmore City; and three sisters, Ernestine Clary, Duncan, Evelyn England, Ardmore, and Kathy Jordan, Healdton.
Services are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Viola A. VanBuskirk Anderson will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson died July 13, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born March 23, 1913, at Spear, to James Edward and Lydia Pearl Carnathan Smith.
She married Rolland VanBuskirk Oct. 6, 1928, in Ardmore. He died in 1946. She and Clyde Anderson were married in 1967, in Denton, Texas. He died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and William VanBuskirk; a brother, Cleo Smith; and sister, Rosy Lewis.
Survivors include four sons, Cecil, John, Raymond and George VanBuskirk, Lone Grove; four daughters, Edna Caples, Porter, Texas, June Farve, Ardmore, Lois Shrout, Mustang, and Joan Herwick, Sunny Mead, Calif.; three brothers, Ernest E. Smith, Lone Grove, Manuel E. Smith, Fox, and Hershal R. Smith, Arroyo Grande, Colo.; sister, Emma Lois Sullivan, Ardmore; and two daughters-in-law, Beatrice and Pearl VanBuskirk.
Bearers will be Lyndall VanBuskirk, Cameron VanBuskirk, Dennis VanBuskirk, Johnnie VanBuskirk, Wayne Cartwright and Gary Cartwright. Honorary bearers are Steve VanBuskirk and Paul McLagan.
Graveside rites for Patrick Henry Noland, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jill Clark officiating.
Noland died July 12, 1997, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center following an extended illness. He was born to Samuel T. and Elizabeth Vinson Noland Feb. 6, 1915, in Anadarko.
He served in the Navy during World War II and worked in construction for many years in Hobbs, N.M. before moving to Ardmore in 1979. He was a member of DAV and VFW. His wife, the former Nina Dicketts, preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Bill, Ardmore; stepson, Jack Clark, Cleveland; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
SULPHUR -- Services for William Morris Baker, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Charlie Baker and Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Baker died July 12, 1997, in Ada. He was born Sept. 7, 1911, at Altus, to Charley and Annie King Baker.
Reared at Blair, he moved to Sulphur in 1951, to Broken Bow in 1966 where he operate a ranch, then returned to Sulphur in 1987. He and Mildred Ann Berry were married Jan. 12, 1937, at Blair. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1994. He and Lahoma Baucum Raines were married Jan. 19, 1996, at Altus.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Betty Green, Clinton, S.C., and Rene Kennedy, Sulphur; a son, Charlie, Tulsa; two stepsons, Lynn Raines, Edmond, and Ted Raines, Winona, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers are Dick Whitney, Afton Kelly, Butch Hill, Phil Key, Jim Foley, Fred Freeman, John Sparks, De Lannom, Paul Thompson and Phil Hurst.
MADILL -- Services for the Rev. John Stokely Dennis will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Interment will be at Kingston Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Dennis died suddenly July 12, 1997, in the local hospital at the age of 100. He was born Jan. 15, 1897, at Gatlinburg, Tenn., and moved with his family to Shawnee in 1904.
He became a Methodist minister in 1925 and was appointed in 1926 to the Shawnee Circuit which included Triby and Mill Creek. He later ministered at Asher, Haworth, Kingston, Madill, Little City, Mannsville, Lebanon and Bixby before he retired. He had lived in Madill since 1976. He and Nettie Lee Ratliff were married Dec. 20, 1917, at Shawnee. She preceded him in death June 27, 1975. He and Ruth Harper were married July 11, 1976, at Madill.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, James S., Perry; two daughters, Virginia Massey, Denison, Texas, and Sue Scott, Norman; two stepsons, John Harper Jr., Ridgedale, Md., and Gene Grisham, Stephenville, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Bruce Scott, Dennis Massey, Larry and Sean O'Rear, Richard, Pete and Wendyl Dennis. Honorary bearers are S.T. Corder, Charlie Blevins, Eugene Wood, Henry Woods, George Leerstang, Al Kerr, Louis Morris, James Alexander, Vernon Ard, Dale Waymire, George Ford and Marvin Wheeler.
